We first exhibit two compatible Poisson structures on the cotangent bundle of the unitary group $\mathrm{U}(n)$ in such a way that the invariant functions of the $\mathfrak{u}(n)^*$-valued momenta generate a bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy. One of the Poisson structures is the canonical one and the other one arises from embedding the Heisenberg double of the Poisson-Lie group $\mathrm{U}(n)$ into $T^*\mathrm{U}(n)$, and subsequently extending the embedded Poisson structure to the full cotangent bundle. We then apply Poisson reduction to the bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy on $T^*\mathrm{U}(n)$ using the conjugation action of $\mathrm{U}(n)$, for which the ring of invariant functions is closed under both Poisson brackets. We demonstrate that the reduced hierarchy belongs to the overlap of well-known trigonometric spin Sutherland and spin Ruijsenaars--Schneider type integrable many-body models, which receive a bi-Hamiltonian interpretation via our treatment.
In this paper, we investigate the scattering properties of the hyperbolic BC(n) Sutherland and the rational BC(n) Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen many-particle systems with three independent coupling constants. Utilizing the recently established action-angle duality between these classical integrable models, we construct their wave and scattering maps. In particular, we prove that for both particle systems the scattering map has a factorized form.
We report on the the trigonometric spin Ruijsenaars--Sutherland hierarchy derived recently by Poisson reduction of a bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy associated with free geodesic motion on the Lie group U(n). In particular, we give a direct proof of a previously stated result about the form of the second Poisson bracket in terms of convenient variables.
Besides its usual interpretation as a system of $n$ indistinguishable particles moving on the circle, the trigonometric Sutherland system can be viewed alternatively as a system of distinguishable particles on the circle or on the line, and these 3 physically distinct systems are in duality with corresponding variants of the rational Ruijsenaars-Schneider system. We explain that the 3 duality relations, first obtained by Ruijsenaars in 1995, arise naturally from the Kazhdan-Kostant-Sternberg symplectic reductions of the cotangent bundles of the group U(n) and its covering groups $U(1) \times S…
In a symplectic reduction framework we construct action-angle systems of canonical coordinates for both the hyperbolic Sutherland and the rational Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen integrable models associated with the C(n) root system. The presented dual reduction picture permits us to establish the action-angle duality between these many-particle systems.
We present a new case of duality between integrable many-body systems, where two systems live on the action-angle phase spaces of each other in such a way that the action variables of each system serve as the particle positions of the other one. Our investigation utilizes an idea that was exploited previously to provide group-theoretic interpretation for several dualities discovered originally by Ruijsenaars. In the group-theoretic framework one applies Hamiltonian reduction to two Abelian Poisson algebras of invariants on a higher dimensional phase space and identifies their reductions as act…
In this paper, we construct canonical action-angle variables for both the hyperbolic BC(n) Sutherland and the rational BC(n) Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen models with three independent coupling constants. As a byproduct of our symplectic reduction approach, we establish the action-angle duality between these many-particle systems. The presented dual reduction picture builds upon the construction of a Lax matrix for the BC(n)-type rational Ruijsennars-Schneider-van Diejen model.
We consider two families of commuting Hamiltonians on the cotangent bundle of the group GL(n,C), and show that upon an appropriate single symplectic reduction they descend to the spectral invariants of the hyperbolic Sutherland and of the rational Ruijsenaars-Schneider Lax matrices, respectively. The duality symplectomorphism between these two integrable models, that was constructed by Ruijsenaars using direct methods, can be then interpreted geometrically simply as a gauge transformation connecting two cross sections of the orbits of the reduction group.
In this paper we study the scattering theory of the classical hyperbolic Sutherland model associated with the C(n) root system. We prove that for any values of the coupling constants the scattering map has a factorized form. As a byproduct of our analysis, we propose a Lax matrix for the rational C(n) Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen model with two independent coupling constants, thereby setting the stage to establish the duality between the hyperbolic C(n) Sutherland and the rational C(n) Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen models.
This thesis presents our results on Liouville integrable systems of Calogero-Ruijsenaars type: 1. We prove an explicit formula providing canonical spectral coordinates for the rational Calogero-Moser system. 2. We explore action-angle duality for the trigonometric BC(n) Sutherland system using Hamiltonian reduction. 3. We derive a Poisson-Lie deformation of the trigonometric BC(n) Sutherland system using Hamiltonian reduction. 4. We construct a Lax pair for the hyperbolic Ruijsenaars-Schneider system with two couplings. 5. We present an explicit construction of compactified trigonometric and e…
The equilibrium positions of the multi-particle classical Calogero-Sutherland-Moser (CSM) systems with rational/trigonometric potentials associated with the classical root systems are described by the classical orthogonal polynomials; the Hermite, Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials. The eigenfunctions of the corresponding single-particle quantum CSM systems are also expressed in terms of the same orthogonal polynomials. We show that this interesting property is inherited by the Ruijsenaars-Schneider-van Diejen (RSvD) systems, which are integrable deformation of the CSM systems; the equilibrium po…
Integrable deformations of the hyperbolic and trigonometric ${\mathrm{BC}}_n$ Sutherland models were recently derived via Hamiltonian reduction of certain free systems on the Heisenberg doubles of ${\mathrm{SU}}(n,n)$ and ${\mathrm{SU}}(2n)$, respectively. As a step towards constructing action-angle variables for these models, we here apply the same reduction to a different free system on the double of ${\mathrm{SU}}(2n)$ and thereby obtain a novel integrable many-body model of Ruijsenaars--Schneider--van Diejen type that is in action-angle duality with the respective deformed Sutherland model…
We consider solutions of the 2D Toda lattice hierarchy which are trigonometric functions of the ``zeroth'' time $t_0=x$. It is known that their poles move as particles of the trigonometric Ruijsenaars-Schneider model. We extend this correspondence to the level of hierarchies: the dynamics of poles with respect to the $m$-th hierarchical time $t_m$ (respectively, $\bar t_m$) of the 2D Toda lattice hierarchy is shown to be governed by the Hamiltonian which is proportional to the $m$-th Hamiltonian $\mbox{tr}\, L^m$ (respectively, $\mbox{tr}\, L^{-m}$) of the Ruijsenaars-Schneider model, where $L…
Hamiltonian reduction is used to project a trivially integrable system on the Heisenberg double of $SU(n,n)$, to obtain a system of Ruijsenaars type on a suitable quotient space. This system possesses $BC_n$ symmetry and is shown to be equivalent to the standard three-parameter $BC_n$ hyperbolic Sutherland model in the cotangent bundle limit.
We consider solutions of the 2D Toda lattice hierarchy which are elliptic functions of the zeroth time t_0=x. It is known that their poles as functions of t_1 move as particles of the elliptic Ruijsenaars-Schneider model. The goal of this paper is to extend this correspondence to the level of hierarchies. We show that the Hamiltonians which govern the dynamics of poles with respect to the m-th hierarchical times t_m and \bar t_m of the 2D Toda lattice hierarchy are obtained from expansion of the spectral curve for the Lax matrix of the Ruijsenaars-Schneider model at the marked points.
We explain that the action-angle duality between the rational Ruijsenaars-Schneider and hyperbolic Sutherland systems implies immediately the maximal superintegrability of these many-body systems. We also present a new direct proof of the Darboux form of the reduced symplectic structure that arises in the `Ruijsenaars gauge' of the symplectic reduction underlying this case of action-angle duality. The same arguments apply to the BC(n) generalization of the pertinent dual pair, which was recently studied by Pusztai developing a method utilized in our direct calculation of the reduced symplectic…
We present generalizations of the well-known trigonometric spin Sutherland models, which were derived by Hamiltonian reduction of `free motion' on cotangent bundles of compact simple Lie groups based on the conjugation action. Our models result by reducing the corresponding Heisenberg doubles with the aid of a Poisson-Lie analogue of the conjugation action. We describe the reduced symplectic structure and show that the `reduced main Hamiltonians' reproduce the spin Sutherland model by keeping only their leading terms. The solutions of the equations of motion emerge from geodesics on the compac…
We introduce a new integrable hierarchy of nonlinear differential-difference equations which we call constrained Toda hierarchy (C-Toda). It can be regarded as a certain subhierarchy of the 2D Toda lattice obtained by imposing the constraint $\bar {\cal L}={\cal L}^†$ on the two Lax operators (in the symmetric gauge). We prove the existence of the tau-function of the C-Toda hierarchy and show that it is the square root of the 2D Toda lattice tau-function. In this and some other respects the C-Toda is a Toda analogue of the CKP hierarchy. It is also shown that zeros of the tau-function of ellip…
We show that a monic polynomial in a discrete variable $n$, with coefficients depending on time variables $t_1, t_2,...$ is a $τ$-function for the discrete Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy if and only if the motion of its zeros is governed by a hierarchy of Ruijsenaars-Schneider systems. These $τ$-functions were considered in [12], where it was proved that they parametrize rank one solutions to a difference-differential version of the bispectral problem.
Integrable many-body systems of Ruijsenaars--Schneider--van Diejen type displaying action-angle duality are derived by Hamiltonian reduction of the Heisenberg double of the Poisson-Lie group $\mathrm{SU}(2n)$. New global models of the reduced phase space are described, revealing non-trivial features of the two systems in duality with one another. For example, after establishing that the symplectic vector space $\mathbb{C}^n\simeq\mathbb{R}^{2n}$ underlies both global models, it is seen that for both systems the action variables generate the standard torus action on $\mathbb{C}^n$, and the fixe…
We construct a bi-Hamiltonian structure for the holomorphic spin Sutherland hierarchy based on collective spin variables. The construction relies on Poisson reduction of a bi-Hamiltonian structure on the holomorphic cotangent bundle of GL(n,C), which itself arises from the canonical symplectic structure and the Poisson structure of the Heisenberg double of the standard GL(n,C) Poisson--Lie group. The previously obtained bi-Hamiltonian structures of the hyperbolic and trigonometric real forms are recovered on real slices of the holomorphic spin Sutherland model.
We introduce a bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy on the cotangent bundle of the real Lie group ${\mathrm{GL}}(n,{\mathbb{C}})$, and study its Poisson reduction with respect to the action of the product group ${{\mathrm U}(n)} \times {{\mathrm U}(n)}$ arising from left- and right-multiplications. One of the pertinent Poisson structures is the canonical one, while the other is suitably transferred from the real Heisenberg double of ${\mathrm{GL}}(n,{\mathbb{C}})$. When taking the quotient of $T^*{\mathrm{GL}}(n,{\mathbb{C}})$ we focus on the dense open subset of ${\mathrm{GL}}(n,{\mathbb{C}})$ whose elem…
Following the approach of [Alexandrov A., Kazakov V., Leurent S., Tsuboi Z., Zabrodin A., J. High Energy Phys. 2013 (2013), no. 9, 064, 65 pages, arXiv:1112.3310], we show how to construct the master T-operator for the quantum inhomogeneous GL(N) XXX spin chain with twisted boundary conditions. It satisfies the bilinear identity and Hirota equations for the classical mKP hierarchy. We also characterize the class of solutions to the mKP hierarchy that correspond to eigenvalues of the master T-operator and study dynamics of their zeros as functions of the spectral parameter. This implies a remar…
The present work is much motivated by finding an explicit way in the construction of the Jack symmetric function, which is the spectrum generating function for the Calogero-Sutherland(CS) model. To accomplish this work, the hidden Virasoro structure in the CS model is much explored. In particular, we found that the Virasoro singular vectors form a skew hierarchy in the CS model. Literally, skew is analogous to coset, but here specifically refer to the operation on the Young tableaux. In fact, based on the construction of the Virasoro singular vectors, this hierarchical structure can be used to…
We define the quasi-compact Higgs $G^{\mathbb C}$-bundles over singular curves introduced in our previous paper for the Lie group SL($N$). The quasi-compact structure means that the automorphism groups of the bundles are reduced to the maximal compact subgroups of $G^{\mathbb C}$ at marked points of the curves. We demonstrate that in particular cases this construction leads to the classical integrable systems of Hitchin type. The examples of the systems are analogues of the classical Calogero-Sutherland systems related to a simple complex Lie group $G^{\mathbb C}$ with two types of interacting…
We investigate the finite dimensional dynamical system derived by Braden and Hone in 1996 from the solitons of $A_{n-1}$ affine Toda field theory. This system of evolution equations for an $n\times n$ Hermitian matrix $L$ and a real diagonal matrix $q$ with distinct eigenvalues was interpreted as a special case of the spin Ruijsenaars--Schneider models due to Krichever and Zabrodin. A decade later, L.-C. Li re-derived the model from a general framework built on coboundary dynamical Poisson groupoids. This led to a Hamiltonian description of the gauge invariant content of the model, where the g…
