We show that the tropicalization of an irreducible d-dimensional variety over a field of characteristic 0 is (d-l)-connected through codimension one, where l is the dimension of the lineality space of the tropicalization. From this we obtain a higher connectivity result for skeleta of rational polytopes. We also prove a tropical analogue of the Bertini Theorem: the intersection of the tropicalization of an irreducible variety with a generic hyperplane is again the tropicalization of an irreducible variety.

Tropicalization of Positive Grassmannians

We introduce combinatorial objects which are parameterized by the positive part of the tropical Grassmannian $Gr(k,n)$. Our method is to relate the Grassmannian to configuration spaces of flags. Hahn analytification and connectivity of higher rank tropical varieties

We show that the tropicalization of a connected variety over a higher rank valued field is a path connected topological space. This establishes an affirmative answer to a question posed by Banerjee. Higher rank tropical varieties are studied as the images of "Hahn analytifications", introduced in this paper. A Hahn analytification is a space of valuations on a scheme over a higher rank valued field. Tropical Geometry over Higher Dimensional Local Fields

We introduce the tropicalization of closed subschemes of a torus defined over a higher dimensional local field. We study the basic invariants of such tropicalizations. This is a generalization of the results of Einslieder, Kapranov, Lind, Speyer and Sturmfels to higher local fields.

Higher order duality and toric embeddings

The notion of higher order dual varieties of a projective variety is a natural generalization of the classical notion of projective duality, introduced by Piene in 1983. In this paper we study higher order dual varieties of projective toric embeddings.
