We study sympathetic Lie algebras, namely perfect and complete Lie algebras. They arise among other things in the study of adjoint Lie algebra cohomology. This is motivated by a conjecture of Pirashvili, which says that a non-trivial finite-dimensional complex perfect Lie algebra is semisimple if and only if its adjoint cohomology vanishes. We prove several results on sympathetic Lie algebras and the adjoint Lie algebra cohomology of Lie algebras in general, using the Hochschild-Serre formula. For certain semidirect products we obtain explicit results for the adjoint cohomology.
In this paper, we study the cup products and Betti numbers over cohomology superspaces of two-step nilpotent Lie superalgebras with coefficients in the adjoint modules over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. As an application, we prove that the cup product over the adjoint cohomology superspaces for Heisenberg Lie superalgebras is trivial and we also determine the adjoint Betti numbers for Heisenberg Lie superalgebras by means of Hochschild-Serre spectral sequences.
We compute explicitly the adjoint cohomology of two N-graded Lie algebras of maximal class (infinite dimensional filiform Lie algebras) m_0 and m_2. It is known that up to an isomorphism there are only three N-graded Lie algebras of the maximal class. The third algebra from this list is the "positive" part L_1 of the Witt (or Virasoro) algebra and its adjoint cohomology was computed earlier by Feigin and Fukhs. We show that the total space H*(m_j,m_j) is "almost" isomorphic to the completed tensor product of the algebra m_j by scalar cohomology space H^*(m_j), j=0,2.
In this paper, we calculate cohomology of a classical Lie algebra of type $A_2$ over an algebraically field $k$ of characteristic $p=3$ with coefficients in simple modules. To describe their structure, we will consider them as modules over an algebraic group $SL_3(k).$ In the case of characteristic $p=3,$ there are only two peculiar simple modules: a simple module isomorphic to the quotient module of the adjoint module by the center, and a one-dimensional trivial module. The results on the cohomology of simple nontrivial module are used for calculate the coomology of the adjoint module. We als…
By elementary and direct calculations the vanishing of the (algebraic) second Lie algebra cohomology of the Witt and the Virasoro algebra with values in the adjoint module is shown. This yields infinitesimal and formal rigidity or these algebras. The first (and up to now only) proof of this important result was given 1989 by Fialowski in an unpublished note. It is based on cumbersome calculations. Compared to the original proof the presented one is quite elegant and considerably simpler.
The aim of this work is to introduce representations of BiHom-left-symmetric algebras. and develop its cohomology theory. As applications, we study linear deformations of BiHom-left-symmetric algebras, which are characterized by its second cohomology group with the coefficients in the adjoint representation. The notion of a Nijenhuis operator on a BiHom-left-symmetric algebra is introduced. We will prove that it can generate trivial linear deformations of a BiHom-left-symmetric algebra.
We compute the first and second cohomology groups with coefficients in the adjoint module of frobeniusian model algebras whose parameters move in a dense open subset of $\mathbb{C}^{p-1}$, and obtain upper bounds for the dimension of cohomology groups of frobeniusian Lie algebras. Moreover, it is shown that for a dense open subset of $\mathbb{C}^{p-1}$ the deformations of model algebras also belong to the family. Therefore any frobeniusian non-model algebra contracts on some element of the model whose parameters move on a finite union of hyperplanes. Further applications as the nullity of Rim'…
The purpose of this paper is to compute the second adjoint cohomology group of q-deformed Witt superalgebras. They are Hom-Lie superalgebras obtained by q-deformation of Witt Lie superalgebra, that is one considers $σ$-derivations instead of classical derivations.
The main aim of this article is to prove the one-dimensionality of the third algebraic cohomology of the Virasoro algebra with values in the adjoint module. We announced this result in a previous publication with only a sketch of the proof. The detailed proof is provided in the present article. We also show that the third algebraic cohomology of the Witt and the Virasoro algebra with values in the trivial module is one-dimensional. We consider purely algebraic cohomology, i.e. our results are independent of any topology chosen. The vanishing of the third algebraic cohomology of the Witt algebr…
By definition, a quadratic Lie superalgebra is a Lie superalgebra endowed with a non-degenerate supersymmetric bilinear form which satisfies the even and invariant properties. In this paper we calculate all of the second cohomology group of elementary quadratic Lie superalgebras which have been classified in \cite{DU14} by applying the super-Poisson bracket on the super exterior algebra. Besides, we give the classification of 8-dimensional solvable quadratic Lie superalgebras having 6-dimensional indecomposable even part. The method is based on the double extension and classification results o…
Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0 and let G be a connected reductive group over k. Let B be a Borel subgroup of G and let g and b be the Lie algebras of G and B. Denote the first Frobenius kernels of G and B by G_1 and B_1. Furthermore, denote the algebras of polynomial functions on G and g by k[G] and k[g], and similar for B and b. The group G acts on k[G] via the conjugation action and on k[g] via the adjoint action. Similarly, B acts on k[B] via the conjugation action and on k[b] via the adjoint action. We show that, under certain mild assumptions, the cohomology …
In this paper we prove the Leibniz analogue of Whitehead's vanishing theorem for the Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology of Lie algebras. As a consequence, we obtain the second Whitehead lemma for Leibniz algebras. Moreover, we compute the cohomology of several Leibniz algebras with adjoint or irreducible coefficients. Our main tool is a Leibniz analogue of the Hochschild-Serre spectral sequence, which is an extension of (the dual of) a spectral sequence of Pirashvili for Leibniz homology from symmetric bimodules to arbitrary bimodules.
A proof of the vanishing of the third cohomology group of the Witt algebra with values in the adjoint module is given. Moreover, we provide a sketch of the proof of the one-dimensionality of the third cohomology group of the Virasoro algebra with values in the adjoint module. The proofs given in the present article are completely algebraic and independent of any underlying topology. They are a generalization of the ones provided by Schlichenmaier, who proved the vanishing of the second cohomology group of the Witt and the Virasoro algebra by using purely algebraic methods. In the case of the t…
We compare by a very elementary approach the second adjoint and trivial Leibniz cohomology spaces of a Lie algebra to the usual ones. Examples are given of coupled cocycles. Some properties are deduced as to Leibniz deformations. We also consider the class of Lie algebras for which the Koszul 3-form is zero, and prove that it contains all quotients of Borel subalgebras, or of their nilradicals, of finite dimensional semisimple Lie algebras. Finally, a list of Kac-Moody types for indecomposable nilpotent Lie algebras of dimension $\leqslant 7$ is given.
The representation and cohomology theory of Hom-Lie-Yamaguti algebras is introduced. As an application, we study deformation and extension of Hom-Lie-Yamaguti algebras. It proved that a 1-parameter infinitesimal deformation of a Hom-Lie-Yamaguti algebra $T$ corresponds to a Hom-Lie-Yamaguti algebra of deformation type and a (2,3)-cocycle of $T$ with coefficients in the adjoint representation. We also prove that abelian extensions of Hom-Lie-Yamaguti algebras are classified by the (2,3)-cohomology group.
Let A be any finite dimensional Hopf algebra over a field k. We specify the Tate and Tate-Hochschild cohomology for A and introduce cup products that make them become graded rings. We establish the relationship between these rings. In particular, the Tate-Hochschild cohomology of A is isomorphic (as algebras) to its Tate cohomology with coefficients in an adjoint module. Consequently, the Tate cohomology ring of A is a direct summand of its Tate-Hochschild cohomology ring. As an example, we explicitly compute both the Tate and Tate-Hochschild cohomology for the Sweedler algebra H_4.
We determine the solvable complete Lie algebras whose nilradical is isomorphic to a filiform Lie algebra. Moreover we show that for any positive integer $n$ there exists a solvable complete Lie algebras whose second cohomology group with values in the adjoint module has dimension at least $n$.
In this paper, we introduced the notion of Hom-Lie antialgebras. The representations and cohomology theory of Hom-Lie antialgebras are investigated. We prove that the equivalent classes of abelian extensions of Hom-Lie antialgebras are in one-to-one correspondence to elements of the second cohomology group. We also prove that 1-parameter infinitesimal deformation of a Hom-Lie antialgebra are characterized by 2-cocycles of this Hom-Lie antialgebra with adjoint representation in itself. The notion of Nijenhuis operators of Hom-Lie antialgebra is introduced to describe trivial deformations.
Lie superbialgebra structures on the twisted N=1 Schrödinger-Neveu-Schwarz algebra $\frak{tsns}$ are described. The corresponding necessary and sufficient conditions for such superbialgebra to be coboundary triangular are given. Meanwhile, the first cohomology group of $\frak{tsns}$ with coefficients in the tensor product of its adjoint module is completely determined.
We study the varieties of Lie algebra laws and their subvarieties of nilpotent Lie algebra laws. We classify all degenerations of (almost all) five-step and six-step nilpotent seven-dimensional complex Lie algebras. One of the main tools is the use of trivial and adjoint cohomology of these algebras. In addition, we give some new results on the varieties of complex Lie algebra laws in low dimension.
In this paper, Lie super-bialgebra structures on a class of generalized super $W$-algebra $\mathfrak{L}$ are investigated. By proving the first cohomology group of $\mathfrak{L}$ with coefficients in its adjoint tensor module is trivial, namely, $H^1(\mathfrak{L},\mathfrak{L}\otimes {\mathfrak{L}})=0$, we obtain that all Lie super-bialgebra structures on $\mathfrak{L}$ are triangular coboundary.
Constructions of n-Lie algebras by strong n-Lie-Poisson algebras are given. First cohomology groups of adjoint module of Jacobian algebras are calculated. Minimal identities of 3-Jacobian algebra are found.
In this paper, first using the higher derived brackets, we give the controlling algebra of relative difference Lie algebras, which are also called crossed homomorphisms or differential Lie algebras of weight 1 when the action is the adjoint action. Then using Getzler's twisted $L_\infty$-algebra, we define the cohomology of relative difference Lie algebras. In particular, we define the regular cohomology of difference Lie algebras by which infinitesimal deformations of difference Lie algebras are classified. We also define the cohomology of difference Lie algebras with coefficients in arbitrar…
In this paper, a simple Lie algebra, referred to as the completed Witt Lie algebra, is introduced. Its derivation algebra and automorphism group are completely described. As a byproduct, it is obtained that the first cohomology group of this Lie algebra with coefficients in its adjoint module is trivial. Furthermore, we completely determine the conjugate classes of this Lie algebra under its automorphism group, and also obtain that this Lie algebra does not contain any nonzero ad-locally finite element.
