We consider the six-vertex model with reflecting end boundary condition. We study the asymptotic behavior of the boundary correlations. This asymptotic behavior is used as an input into the Tangent Method in order to derive analytically the arctic curve at the free fermion point. The obtained curve is a semicircle, which is in agreement with previous Monte Carlo simulations.
We apply the Tangent Method of Colomo and Sportiello to predict the arctic curves of the Six Vertex model with reflecting (U-turn) boundary and of the related Twenty Vertex model with suitable domain wall boundary conditions on a quadrangle, both in their Disordered phase.
We consider the six-vertex model in an L-shaped domain of the square lattice, with domain wall boundary conditions, in the case of free-fermion vertex weights. We describe how the recently developed `Tangent method' can be used to determine the form of the arctic curve. The obtained result is in agreement with numerics.
We revisit the problem of determining the Arctic curve in the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions. We describe an alternative method, by which we recover the previously conjectured analytic expression in the square domain. We adapt the method to work for a large class of domains, and for other models exhibiting limit shape phenomena. We study in detail some examples, and derive, in particular, the Arctic curve of the six-vertex model in a triangoloid domain at the ice-point.
An explicit expression for the spatial curve separating the region of ferroelectric order (`frozen' zone) from the disordered one (`temperate' zone) in the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions in its anti-ferroelectric regime is obtained.
The arctic curve, i.e. the spatial curve separating ordered (or `frozen') and disordered (or `temperate) regions, of the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions is discussed for the root-of-unity vertex weights. In these cases the curve is described by algebraic equations which can be worked out explicitly from the parametric solution for this curve. Some interesting examples are discussed in detail. The upper bound on the maximal degree of the equation in a generic root-of-unity case is obtained.
The problem of the form of the `arctic' curve of the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions in its disordered regime is addressed. It is well-known that in the scaling limit the model exhibits phase-separation, with regions of order and disorder sharply separated by a smooth curve, called the arctic curve. To find this curve, we study a multiple integral representation for the emptiness formation probability, a correlation function devised to detect spatial transition from order to disorder. We conjecture that the arctic curve, for arbitrary choice of the vertex weights, can be …
We use the tangent method to compute the arctic curve of the Twenty-Vertex (20V) model with particular domain wall boundary conditions for a wide set of integrable weights. To this end, we extend to the finite geometry of domain wall boundary conditions the standard connection between the bulk 20V and 6V models via the Kagome lattice ice model. This allows to express refined partition functions of the 20V model in terms of their 6V counterparts, leading to explicit parametric expressions for the various portions of its arctic curve. The latter displays a large variety of shapes depending on th…
The two point functions, which give the probability that the spins turn down at the boundaries, are studied for the six vertex model on a $2N \times N$ lattice with domain wall boundary condition and left reflecting end. We consider two types of two point functions, and express them using determinants.
A boundary one point function related to the boundary spontaneous polarization, which is different from the ones considered in the past, is studied for the six vertex model on a 2N \times N lattice with domain wall boundary condition and left reflecting end. It is expressible in terms of a special kind of coordinate space wave functions, which can be expressed as determinants.
We extend the recently developed Izergin-Korepin analysis on the wavefunctions of the $U_q(sl_2)$ six-vertex model to the reflecting boundary conditions. Based on the Izergin-Korepin analysis, we determine the exact forms of the symmetric functions which represent the wavefunctions and its dual. Comparison of the symmetric functions with the coordinate Bethe ansatz wavefunctions for the open XXZ chain by Alcaraz-Barber-Batchelor-Baxter-Quispel is also made. As an application, we derive algebraic identities for the symmetric functions by combining the results with the determinant formula of the…
The trigonometric six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions and one partially reflecting end on a lattice of size $2n\times m$, $m\leq n$, is considered. The partition function is computed using the Izergin-Korepin method, generalizing the result of Foda and Zarembo from the rational to the trigonometric case. Thereafter we specify the parameters in Kuperberg's way to get a formula for the number of states as a determinant of Wilson polynomials. We relate this to a type of ASM-like matrices.
Previous numerical studies have shown that in the disordered and anti-ferroelectric phases the six-vertex ($6$V) model with partial domain wall boundary conditions (DWBC) exhibits an arctic curve whose exact shape is unknown. The model is defined on a $s\times n$ square lattice ($s\leq n$). In this paper, we derive the analytic expression of the arctic curve, for $a=b=1$ and $c=\sqrt{2}$ ($Δ=0$), while keeping the ratio $s/n \,\in [0,1]$ as a free parameter. The computation relies on the tangent method. We also consider domino tilings of double Aztec rectangles and show via the tangent method …
In this paper we consider the six-vertex model at ice point on an arbitrary three-bundle domain, which is a generalization of the domain-wall ice model on the square (or, equivalently, of a uniformly random alternating sign matrix). We show that this model exhibits the arctic boundary phenomenon, whose boundary is given by a union of explicit algebraic curves. This was originally predicted by Colomo-Sportiello in 2016 as one of the initial applications of a general heuristic that they introduced for locating arctic boundaries, called the (geometric) tangent method. Our proof uses a probabilist…
The six-vertex model with domain-wall boundary conditions is one representative of a class of two-dimensional lattice statistical mechanics models that exhibit a phase separation known as the arctic curve phenomenon. In the thermodynamic limit, the degrees of freedom are completely frozen in a region near the boundary, while they are critically fluctuating in a central region. The arctic curve is the phase boundary that separates those two regions. Critical fluctuations inside the arctic curve have been studied extensively, both in physics and in mathematics, in free models (i.e., models that …
In this note, we prove the completeness of Bethe vectors for the six vertex model with diagonal reflecting boundary conditions. We show that as inhomogeneity parameters get sent to infinity in a successive order the Bethe vectors give a complete basis of the space of states.
With the help of the Drinfeld twist or factorizing F-matrix for the eight-vertex SOS model, we obtain the explicit determinant expression of the partition function of the eight-vertex model with a generic non-diagonal reflecting end and domain wall boundary condition. Our result shows that, contrary to the eight-vertex model without a reflection end, the partition function can be expressed as a single determinant.
We consider the six-vertex model with reflecting end boundary condition. We compute analytically boundary correlation functions, such as the boundary polarization and the emptiness formation probability. In order to do that, we use the Sklyanin's reflection algebra to derive recursion relations for the partition function of the model as well as for the boundary correlations in terms of the partition function. Thanks to the Tsuchiya determinant formula, these recursion relations allow the boundary correlations to be also efficiently written in determinantal form.
We use the Bethe-Peierls method combined with the belief propagation algorithm to study the arctic curves in the six vertex model on a square lattice with domain-wall boundary conditions, and the six vertex model on a rectangular lattice with partial domain-wall boundary conditions. We show that this rather simple approximation yields results that are remarkably close to the exact ones when these are known, and allows one to estimate the location of the phase boundaries with relative little effort in cases in which exact results are not available.
We study the thermodynamic limit of the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary and reflecting end. We evaluated the partition function explicitly in special cases. We calculated the homogeneous limit of the Tsuchiya determinant formula for the partition function. We evaluated the thermodynamic limit and obtain the free energy of the six-vertex model with reflecting end. We determined the free energy in the disordered regime.
With the help of the F-basis provided by the Drinfeld twist or factorizing F-matrix for the open XXZ spin chain with non-diagonal boundary terms, we obtain the determinant representation of the partition function of the six-vertex model with a non-diagonal reflecting end under domain wall boundary condition.
We study numerically the density profile in the six-vertex model with domain wall boundary conditions. Using a Monte Carlo algorithm originally proposed by Allison and Reshetikhin we numerically evaluate the inhomogeneous density profiles in the disordered and antiferromagnetic regimes where frozen corners appear. At the free fermion point we present an exact finite-size formula for the density on the horizontal edges that relies on the imaginary time transfer matrix approach. In all cases where exact analytic forms for the density and the arctic curves are known the numerical method shows per…
In this paper we consider two a priori very different problems: construction of the eigenstates of the spin chains with non parallel boundary magnetic fields and computation of the partition function for the trigonometric solid-on-solid (SOS) model with one reflecting end and domain wall boundary conditions. We show that these two problems are related through a gauge transformation (so-called vertex-face transformation) and can be solved using the same dynamical reflection algebras.
We study the partition function of the six-vertex model in the rational limit on arbitrary Baxter lattices with reflecting boundary. Every such lattice is interpreted as an invariant of the twisted Yangian. This identification allows us to relate the partition function of the vertex model to the Bethe wave function of an open spin chain. We obtain the partition function in terms of creation operators on a reference state from the algebraic Bethe ansatz and as a sum of permutations and reflections from the coordinate Bethe ansatz.
We perform a numerical study of the F-model with domain-wall boundary conditions. Various exact results are known for this particular case of the six-vertex model, including closed expressions for the partition function for any system size as well as its asymptotics and leading finite-size corrections. To complement this picture we use a full lattice multi-cluster algorithm to study equilibrium properties of this model for systems of moderate size, up to L=512. We compare the energy to its exactly known large-L asymptotics. We investigate the model's infinite-order phase transition by means of…
We study the boundary free energy of the XXZ spin-$\tf{1}{2}$ chain subject to diagonal boundary fields. We first show that the representation for its finite Trotter number approximant obtained by Bortz, Frahm and Göhmann is related to the partition function of the six-vertex model with reflecting ends. Building on the Tsuchiya determinant representation for the latter quantity we are able to take the infinite Trotter number limit. This yields a representation for the surface free energy which involves the solution of the non-linear integral equation that governs the thermodynamics of the XXZ …
