Given an ideal $\mathcal{I}$ on the positive integers, a real sequence $(x_n)$ is said to be $\mathcal{I}$-statistically convergent to $\ell$ provided that $$ \textstyle \left\{n \in \mathbf{N}: \frac{1}{n}|\{k \le n: x_k \notin U\}| \ge \varepsilon\right\} \in \mathcal{I} $$ for all neighborhoods $U$ of $\ell$ and all $\varepsilon>0$. First, we show that $\mathcal{I}$-statistical convergence coincides with $\mathcal{J}$-convergence, for some unique ideal $\mathcal{J}=\mathcal{J}(\mathcal{I})$. In addition, $\mathcal{J}$ is Borel [analytic, coanalytic, respectively] whenever $\mathcal{I}$ is Borel [analytic, coanalytic, resp.].
Then we prove, among others, that if $\mathcal{I}$ is the summable ideal $\{A\subseteq \mathbf{N}: \sum_{a \in A}1/a<\infty\}$ or the density zero ideal $\{A\subseteq \mathbf{N}: \lim_{n\to \infty} \frac{1}{n}|A\cap [1,n]|=0\}$ then $\mathcal{I}$-statistical convergence coincides with statistical convergence. This can be seen as a Tauberian theorem which extends a classical theorem of Fridy. Lastly, we show that this is never the case if $\mathcal{I}$ is maximal.
We show that a real sequence $x$ is convergent if and only if there exist a regular matrix $A$ and an $F_{σδ}$-ideal $\mathcal{I}$ on $\mathbf{N}$ such that the set of subsequences $y$ of $x$ for which $Ay$ is $\mathcal{I}$-convergent is of the second Baire category. This includes the cases where $\mathcal{I}$ is the ideal of asymptotic density zero sets, the ideal of Banach density zero sets, and the ideal of finite sets. The latter recovers an old result given by Keogh and Petersen in [J. London Math. Soc. \textbf{33} (1958), 121--123]. Our proofs are of a different nature and rely on recent…
In the present paper, after recalling the Karcher mean in Hadamard spaces, we study the relation between convergence, almost convergence and mean convergence (respect to the defined mean) of a sequence in Hadamard spaces. These results extend Tauberian conditions from Banach spaces to Hadamard spaces. Also, we show that every almost periodic sequence in Hadamard spaces is almost convergent.
For stochastic $C_0$-semigroups on $L^1$-spaces there is wealth of results that show strong convergence to an equilibrium as $t \to \infty$, given that the semigroup contains a partial integral operator. This has plenty of applications to transport equations and in mathematical biology. However, up to now partial integral operators do not play a prominent role in theorems which yield uniform convergence of the semigroup rather than only strong convergence. In this article we prove that, for irreducible stochastic semigroups, uniform convergence to an equilibrium is actually equivalent to being…
In this paper using the notion of an ideal I on a directed set, we extend the notion of convergence of nets of partial maps to the notions of I-convergence ( or filter convergence) of nets of partial maps and I*- convergence of nets of partial maps.
Given an ideal $\mathcal{I}$ on $ω$ and a sequence $x$ in a topological vector space, we let the $\mathcal{I}$-core of $x$ be the least closed convex set containing $\{x_n: n \notin I\}$ for all $I \in \mathcal{I}$. We show two characterizations of the $\mathcal{I}$-core. This implies that the $\mathcal{I}$-core of a bounded sequence in $\mathbf{R}^k$ is simply the convex hull of its $\mathcal{I}$-cluster points. As applications, we simplify and extend several results in the context of Pringsheim-convergence and $e$-convergence of double sequences.
The paper deals with the long-term behavior of positive operator semigroups on spaces of bounded functions and of signed measures, which have applications to parabolic equations with unbounded coefficients and to stochastic analysis. The main results are a Tauberian type theorem characterizing the convergence to equilibrium of strongly Feller semigroups and a generalization of a classical convergence theorem of Doob. None of these results requires any kind of time regularity of the semigroup.
In this paper we consider the idea of I - convergence of nets of partial function from a metric space (X; d) to a metric space (Y; ?) and derive several basic characterization. This idea extends the concept of convergence of nets of partial function introduced by G. Beer et.al [1].
This work deals with free transport equations with partly diffuse stochastic boundary operators in slab geometry. Such equations are governed by stochastic semigroups in $L^{1}$ spaces$.\ $We prove convergence to equilibrium at the rate $O\left( t^{-\frac{k}{2(k+1)+1}}\right) \ (t\rightarrow +\infty )$ for $L^{1}$ initial data $g$ in a suitable subspace of the domain of the generator $T$ where $k\in \mathbb{N}$ depends on the properties of the boundary operators near the tangential velocities to the slab. This result is derived from a quantified version of Ingham's tauberian theorem by showing…
Recently P. Das, S. Dutta and E. Savas introduced and studied the notions of strong $A^I$-summability with respect to an Orlicz function $F$ and $A^I$-statistical convergence, where $A$ is a non-negative regular matrix and $I$ is an ideal on the set of natural numbers. In this note, we will generalise these notions by replacing $A$ with a family of matrices and $F$ with a family of Orlicz functions or moduli and study the thus obtained convergence methods. We will also give an application in Banach space theory, presenting a generalisation of Simons' $\sup$-$\limsup$-theorem to the newly intro…
An ideal $I$ is a family of subsets of positive integers $\mathbb{N}$ which is closed under taking finite unions and subsets of its elements. A sequence $(x_k)$ of real numbers is said to be lacunary $I$-convergent to a real number $\ell$, if for each $ \varepsilon> 0$ the set $$\left\{r\in \mathbb{N}:\frac{1}{h_r}\sum_{k\in J_r} |x_{k}-\ell|\geq \varepsilon\right\}$$ belongs to $I.$ The aim of this paper is to study the notion of lacunary $I$-convergence in probabilistic normed spaces as a variant of the notion of ideal convergence. Also lacunary $I$-limit points and lacunary $I$-cluster poin…
We introduce a topology on the ideal space of inductive limits of C*-algebras built by a topological inverse limit of the Fell topologies on the C*-algebras of the given inductive sequence and we produce conditions for when this topology agrees with the Fell topology of the inductive limit. With this topology, we impart criteria for when convergence of ideals of an AF algebra can provide convergence of quotients in the quantum Gromov-Hausdorff propinquity building off previous joint work with Latremoliere. These findings bestow a continuous map from a class of ideals of the Boca-Mundici AF alg…
It is shown that for a certain class of the Kato functions the Trotter-Kato product formulae converge in Dixmier ideal C 1,$\infty$ in topology, which is defined by the $\times$ 1,$\infty$-norm. Moreover, the rate of convergence in this topology inherits the error-bound estimate for the corresponding operator-norm convergence. 1 since [24], [14]. Note that a subtle point of this program is the question about the rate of convergence in the corresponding topology. Since the limit of the Trotter-Kato product formula is a strongly continuous semigroup, for the von Neumann-Schatten ideals this topo…
The concept of I-statistical convergence of a double sequence was first introduced and study by Das et. el [2]. Here in this paper we discuss some results on rough ideal statistical convergence and also we introduce the notion of rough ideal limit set and discuss some topological aspects on this set.
We give some Korovkin-type theorems on convergence and estimates of rates of approximations of nets of functions, satisfying suitable axioms, whose particular cases are filter/ideal convergence, almost convergence and triangular A-statistical convergence, where A is a non-negative summability method. Furthermore, we give some applications to Mellin-type convolution and bivariate Kantorovich-type discrete operators.
Notions of convergence and continuity specifically adapted to Riesz ideals I of the space of continuous real-valued functions on a Lindelöf locally compact Hausdorff space are given, and used to prove Stone-Weierstraß-type theorems for I. As applications, sufficient conditions are discussed that guarantee that various types of positive linear maps on I are uniquely determined by their restriction to various point-separating subsets of I. A very special case of this is the characterization of the strong determinacy of moment problems, which is rederived here in a rather general setting and with…
The notion of equivalence classes of generators of one-parameter semigroups based on the convergence of the Dyson expansion can be traced back to the seminal work of Hille and Phillips, who in Chapter XIII of the 1957 edition of their Functional Analysis monograph, developed the theory in minute detail. Following their approach of regarding the Dyson expansion as a central object, in the first part of this paper we examine a general framework for perturbation of generators relative to the Schatten-von Neumann ideals on Hilbert spaces. This allows us to develop a graded family of equivalence re…
We define a class of so-called thinnable ideals $\mathcal{I}$ on the positive integers which includes several well-known examples, e.g., the collection of sets with zero asymptotic density, sets with zero logarithmic density, and several summable ideals. Given a sequence $(x_n)$ taking values in a separable metric space and a thinnable ideal $\mathcal{I}$, it is shown that the set of $\mathcal{I}$-cluster points of $(x_n)$ is equal to the set of $\mathcal{I}$-cluster points of almost all its subsequences, in the sense of Lebesgue measure. Lastly, we obtain a characterization of ideal convergen…
In this paper using a non-negative regular summability matrix $\mathcal{A}$ and a non-trivial admissible ideal $\mathcal{I}$ in $\mathbb{N}$ we study some basic properties of strong $\mathcal{A}^{\mathcal{I}}$-statistical convergence and strong $\mathcal{A}^{\mathcal{I}}$-statistical Cauchyness of sequences in probabilistic metric spaces not done earlier. We also introduce strong $\mathcal{A}^{\mathcal{I^*}}$-statistical Cauchyness in probabilistic metric space and study its relationship with strong A$\mathcal{A}^{\mathcal{I}}$-statistical Cauchyness there. Further, we study some basic propert…
