In the present work, we compare the thermodynamical viability of two types of non-canonical scalar field models with kinetic corrections: the square kinetic and square root kinetic corrections. In modern cosmology, the generalised second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) plays an important role in deciding thermodynamical compliance of a model as one cannot consider a model to be viable if it fails to respect GSLT. Hence, for comparing thermodynamical viability, we examine the validity of GSLT for these two models. For this purpose, by employing the Unified first law (UFL), we calculate the total entropy of these two models in apparent and event horizons. The validity of GSLT is then examined from the autonomous systems as the original expressions of total entropy are very complicated. Although, at the background level, both models give interesting cosmological dynamics, however, thermodynamically we found that the square kinetic correction is more realistic as compared to the square root kinetic correction. More precisely, the GSLT holds for the square kinetic correction throughout the evolutionary history except only during the radiation epoch where the scalar field may not represent a true description of the matter content. On the other hand, the square root kinetic model fails to satisfy the GSLT in major cosmological eras.
It has been researched the kinetics of the thermal equilibrium's establishment in an early Universe under the assumption of the recovery of interaction scaling of elementary particles in range of superhigh energies. The case of the thermal equilibrium's weak initial violation and basic cosmological consequences of the thermal equilibrium's violation have been researched.
In terms of fundamental principles of quantum theory of interacting particles and relativistic kinetic theory there was carried out an analysis of the main principle of standard cosmological scenario - the initial existence of local thermodynamical equilibrium. It has been shown, that condition of the existence of local thermodynamical equilibrium in Universe is determined essentially by means of function of total cross-section of particles' interaction from the kinematic invariant and in case of scaling's recovery in range of superhigh energies it is initially broken.
In this paper it is shown that Tolman's law can be derived from relativistic kinetic theory applied to a simple fluid in a BGK-like approximation. Using this framework, it becomes clear that the contribution of the gravitational field can be viewed as a cross effect that resembles the so-called \emph{Thomson effect} in irreversible thermodynamics. A proper generalization of Tolman's law in an inhomogeneous medium is formally established based on these grounds.
A relativistic kinetic description for the irreversible thermodynamic process of gravitationally induced particle production is proposed in the context of an expanding Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) geometry. We show that the covariant thermodynamic treatment referred to as "adiabatic" particle production provoked by the cosmic time-varying gravitational field has a consistent kinetic counterpart. The variation of the distribution function is associated to a non-collisional kinetic term of quantum-gravitational origin which is proportional to the ratio $Γ/H$, where $Γ$ is the gravitational p…
The kinetic theory is formulated with respect to anholonomic frames of reference on curved spacetimes. By using the concept of nonlinear connection we develop an approach to modelling locally anisotropic kinetic processes and, in corresponding limits, the relativistic non-equilibrium thermodynamics with local anisotropy. This lead to a unified formulation of the kinetic equations on (pseudo) Riemannian spaces and in various higher dimensional models of Kaluza-Klein type and/or generalized Lagrange and Finsler spaces. The transition rate considered for the locally anisotropic transport equation…
We study higher derivative corrections to black brane thermodynamics and their implications for the weak gravity conjecture for $p$-form gauge fields. In particular we show that higher derivative corrections decrease tension-to-charge ratios of extremal black branes as implied by the weak gravity conjecture, if four-derivative couplings follow scattering positivity bounds. We also demonstrate that entropy corrections in the micro canonical ensemble are positive under the same assumptions. This extends earlier works in the Einstein-Maxwell theory to $p$-form gauge fields in general spacetime di…
We study the thermodynamics of some cosmological models based on modified gravity, a braneworld with induced gravity and curvature effect. Dark energy component seems necessary if the models are to approach thermal equilibrium in the long run.
We carry quantum (thermal) corrections to the thermodynamics of regular black holes in detail. Firstly, we discuss the non-extended phase space thermodynamics of regular black holes. We obtain expressions for various thermodynamic quantities like temperature, entropy, internal energy, Helmholtz free energy, pressure, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy. Then we introduce quantum corrections to the thermodynamics of Bardeen type (toy model) of regular black holes. The qualitative and quantitative analysis of these corrections is carried by plotting all the corrected thermodynamic quantities. The co…
The entropy of a black hole can differ from a quarter of the area of the horizon because of quantum corrections. The correction is related to the contribution to the Euclidean functional integral from quantum fluctuations but is not simply equal to the correction to the effective action. A (2+1) dimensional rotating black hole is explicitly considered.
We study the quantum corrections to the four-dimensional Schwarzschild Anti de Sitter black hole using effective field theory approach. We compute the quantum correction to Hawking temperature upto order $\mathcal{O}{(G^{2})}$ for a Schwarzschild AdS black hole when the emitted object is massless and massive. We use the expression of the modified horizon radius to compute the quantum corrected entropy upto order $\mathcal{O}{(G^{2})}$. Finally we compute quantum corrected thermodynamic parameters specific heat, free energy and pressure.
A kinetic theory of relativistic gases in a two-dimensional space is developed in order to obtain the equilibrium distribution function and the expressions for the fields of energy per particle, pressure, entropy per particle and heat capacities in equilibrium. Furthermore, by using the method of Chapman and Enskog for a kinetic model of the Boltzmann equation the non-equilibrium energy-momentum tensor and the entropy production rate are determined for a universe described by a two-dimensional Robertson-Walker metric. The solutions of the gravitational field equations that consider the non-equ…
From the partition function of canonical ensemble we derive the entropy of the de Sitter space by anti-Wick rotation. And then from the one-loop bubble $S^2\times S^2$ created from vacuum fluctuation in de Sitter background space, we obtain the one-loop quantum correction to the entropy of de Sitter space.
A five-dimensional treatment of the Boltzmann equation is used to establish the constitutive equations that relate thermodynamic fluxes and forces up to first order in the gradients for simple charged fluids in the presence of electromagnetic fields. The formalism uses the ansatz first introduced by Kaluza back in 1921, proposing that the particle charge-mass ratio is proportional to the fifth component of its velocity field. It is shown that in this approach, space-time curvature yields thermodynamic forces leading to generalizations of the well-known cross-effects present in linear irreversi…
In this paper, we consider a charged rotating AdS black holes in four dimensions and study the effects of leading-order thermal corrections on the thermodynamics of such system explicitly. The first-order corrected thermodynamical quantities also satisfy the first-law of thermodynamics of the black holes. The holographic duality between the charged rotating AdS black holes and Van der Waals fluid is also emphasized through the $P-v$ diagram. Finally, we study the effects of the leading-order thermal corrections on the stability of the charged rotating black holes.
Thermodynamic formalism for rotating black holes, characterized by noncommutative and quantum corrections, is constructed. From a fundamental thermodynamic relation, equations of state and thermodynamic response functions are explicitly given and the effect of noncommutativity and quantum correction is discussed. It is shown that the well known divergence exhibited in specific heat is not removed by any of these corrections. However, regions of thermodynamic stability are affected by noncommutativity, increasing the available states for which some thermodynamic stability conditions are satisfi…
Based on the modification to area-law due to thermal fluctuation at small horizon radius, we investigate the thermodynamics of charged quasitopological and charged rotating quasitopological black holes. In particular, we derive the leading-order corrections to the Gibbs free energy, charge and total mass densities. In order to analyse the behavior of the thermal fluctuations on the thermodynamics of small black holes, we draw a comparative analysis between the first-order corrected and original thermodynamical quantities. We also examine the stability and bound points of such black holes under…
In this work, we study corrections to black hole temperature and entropy in the context of the generalized uncertainty principle. In particular, we obtain corrected asymptotically anti de-Sitter black hole solutions following the extended phase space scheme in which the cosmological constant is considered as a thermodynamic pressure satisfying certain equation of state. Among all the possibilities, we consider that the cosmological pressure satisfies either a Polytropic or a Chaplygin equation of state. The physical plausibility of the solutions is studied based on the energy conditions and th…
We study charged black holes in D dimensional AdS space, in the presence of four derivative Weyl correction. We obtain the black hole solution perturbatively up to first as well as second order in the Weyl coupling, and show that first law of black hole thermodynamics is satisfied in all dimensions. We study its thermodynamic phase transition and then calculate the quasinormal frequencies of the massless scalar field perturbation. We find that, here too, the quasinormal frequencies capture the essence of black hole phase transition. Few subtleties near the second order critical point are discu…
We investigate the correspondence between a perfect fluid and a scalar field and show a possible way of expressing thermodynamic quantities such as entropy, particle number density, temperature and chemical potential in terms of the scalar field phi and its kinetic term X. We prove a theorem which relates isentropy with purely kinetic Lagrangian. As an application, we study the evolution of the gravitational potential in cosmological perturbation theory.
We expand the dynamical systems investigation of cosmological scalar fields characterised by kinetic corrections presented in [N. Tamanini, Phys. Rev. D 89 (2014) 083521]. In particular we do not restrict the analysis to exponential potentials only, but we consider arbitrary scalar field potentials and derive general results regarding the corresponding cosmological dynamics. Two specific potentials are then used as examples to show how these models can be employed not only to describe dark energy, but also to achieve dynamical crossing of the phantom barrier at late times. Stability and viabil…
In this paper, we compute the Hawking temperature by applying quantum tunneling approach for the Horndeski like black holes. We utilize the semi-classical phenomenon and WKB approximation to the Lagrangian field equation involving generalized uncertainty principle (GUP) and compute the tunneling rate as well as Hawking temperature. For the zero gravity parameter, we obtain results consistent without correction parameter or original tunneling. Moreover, we study the thermal fluctuations of the considered geometry and examine the stable state of the system by heat capacity technique. We also inv…
