In view of the large differences in the previous calculations of enhancement factors to the parity and time-reversal violating (P,T-odd) electric dipole moment (EDM) of $^{225}$Ra due to nuclear Schiff moment (NSM) and tensor-pseudotensor (T-PT) electron-nucleus (e-N) interactions between the relativistic coupled-cluster (RCC) theory and other many-body methods, we employ the relativistic normal coupled-cluster (RNCC) theory to explain the discrepancies. The normalization of the wave function in the RNCC theory becomes unity by construction. This feature removes the ambiguity associated with the uncertainties in calculations that could arise due to mismatch in cancellation of the normalization factor of the wave function in a truncated RCC method. Moreover, all the terms in the expression for EDM using the RNCC method naturally terminate, in contrast to the RCC approach. By taking an average of the results from two variants each of both the RCC and RNCC methods, we recommend enhancement factors to the EDM of 225Ra due to NSM as $-$6.29(1) $\times 10^{-17} |e| $cm $( |e| fm^3)$ and due to T-PT e-N coupling constant as $-$12.66(14) $\times {10^{-20} \langle σ_N \rangle | e | }$cm, for the nuclear Pauli spinor, $σ_N$. This is corroborated by analyzing the dipole polarizability ($α_d$) value of $^{225}$Ra, which is obtained as 244(13) $ea_0^3$. We also compare our results for all three properties with previous calculations that employ different many-body methods. Our $α_d$ value agrees very well with the results that are obtained by carrying out rigorous analyses using other variants of RCC methods.
We analyze the molecular electric dipole moments (PDMs) and static electric dipole polarizabilities of heteronuclear alkali dimers in their ground states by employing coupled-cluster theory, both in the non-relativistic and four-component relativistic frameworks. The roles of electron correlations as well as relativistic effects are demonstrated by studying them at different levels of theory, followed by a comprehensive treatment of error estimates. We compare our obtained values with the previous non-relativistic calculations, some of which include lower-order relativistic corrections, as wel…
Probing interactions between Rydberg atoms with large electric dipole moments in amplitude modulated electric fields
Nonrelativistic and relativistic coupled-cluster calculations extrapolated to the complete basis set limit including excitations up to the quintuple level (CCSDTQP) were carried out to accurately determine the static electric dipole polarizability of the closed-shell palladium atom. The resulting value of $α$ = 26.14(10) a.u. implies that palladium has the smallest dipole polarizability of all known elemental metal atoms due to its unique 4d$^{10}$5s$^0$ configuration. Relativistic effects are found to be already sizeable ($Δ_Rα$= +1.86~a.u.) compared to electron correlation ($Δ_Cα$= +5.06~a.u…
In this article, we have employed relativistic many-body theory to theoretically assess the suitability of TlF+ molecular ion in its ground state for electron electric dipole moment searches. To that end, we have computed values of the effective electric field as well as the molecular permanent electric dipole moment using both configuration interaction and coupled cluster methods with high quality basis sets, followed by an analysis on the role of electron correlation in the considered properties. We find that TlF+ has a large value of effective electric field of about 163 GV/cm, which is abo…
$^{129}$Xe is an important candidate for the searches of electric dipole moments due to violations of time-reversal and parity violations in diamagnetic atoms. In view of the similarities between the electric dipole moment and the polarizability from the point of view of many-body theory, we have performed rigorous calculations of the ground state polarizability of $^{129}$Xe using a self consistent relativistic coupled-cluster method and the relativistic normal coupled-cluster method. The discrepancy between the results from these two methods is two percent, but each of them differs from the …
Electric-field induced dipole blockade with Rydberg atoms
The prospects for an electron electric dipole moment search with ferroelectric (Eu,Ba)TiO$_3$ ceramics
We analyze the electric dipole moments (PDMs) and static electric dipole polarizabilities of the alkali--alkaline-earth (Alk-AlkE) dimers by employing finite-field coupled-cluster methods, both in the frameworks of non-relativistic and four-component spinfree relativistic theory. In order to carry out comparative analyses rigorously, we consider those Alk-AlkE molecules made out of the lightest to the medium-heavy constituent atoms (Alk: Li to Rb and AlkE: Be through Sr). We present behaviour of electron correlation effects as well as relativistic effects with the size of the molecules. Uncert…
A relativistic transient absorption theory is derived, implemented and validated within the dipole approximation based on the time-dependent Dirac equation. Time-dependent simulations have been performed using the Dirac equation and the Schrödinger equation for the Hydrogen atom in two different attosecond transient absorption scenarios. These simulations validate the present relativistic theory. The presented work can be seen as a first step in the development of a more general relativistic attosecond transient absorption spectroscopy method for studying heavy atoms, but it also suggests the …
Accurate calculations of magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole hyperfine coupling constants of 6 P_{3/2} state of Cesium atom : A Relativistic Coupled Cluster approach
We propose a new method to produce an electric and magnetic dipolar gas of ultracold dysprosium atoms. The pair of nearly degenerate energy levels of opposite parity, at 17513.33 cm$^{-1}$ with electronic angular momentum $J=10$, and at 17514.50 cm$^{-1}$ with $J=9$, can be mixed with an external electric field, thus inducing an electric dipole moment in the laboratory frame. For field amplitudes relevant to current-day experiments, we predict a magnetic dipole moment up to 13 Bohr magnetons, and an electric dipole moment up to 0.22 Debye, which is similar to the values obtained for alkali-met…
The francium atom is considered as a prospective candidate system to search for the T,P-violating electron electric dipole moment [T. Aoki et al Quantum Sci. Technol. 6, 044008 (2021)]. We demonstrate that the same experiment can be used for axionlike particles (ALP) search. For this, we calculate electronic structure constants of ALP-mediated interaction for a wide range of ALP masses. Using the recently updated constraints on the ALP-electron and ALP-nucleon coupling constants, we show that the contribution of considered interactions corresponding to these constraints can give significant co…
