This is the second of a series of articles devoted to the study of relaxed highest-weight modules over affine vertex algebras and W-algebras. The first studied the simple "rank-$1$" affine vertex superalgebras $L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ and $L_k(\mathfrak{osp}(1\vert2))$, with the main results including the first complete proofs of certain conjectured character formulae (as well as some entirely new ones). Here, we turn to the question of classifying relaxed highest-weight modules for simple affine vertex algebras of arbitrary rank. The key point is that this can be reduced to the classification of highest-weight modules by generalising Olivier Mathieu's theory of coherent families. We formulate this algorithmically and illustrate its practical implementation with several detailed examples. We also show how to use coherent family technology to establish the non-semisimplicity of category $\mathscr{O}$ in one of these examples.
This is the third of a series of articles devoted to the study of relaxed highest weight modules over vertex operator algebras. Relaxed highest weight modules over affine vertex algebras associated to higher rank Lie algebras $A_\ell$ are extensively studied. In particular, the string functions of simple relaxed highest weight modules whose top spaces are simple cuspidal $A_\ell$-modules are shown to be the quotients by a power of the Dedekind eta series of the $q$-characters of simple ordinary modules over affine W-algebras associated with the minimal nilpotent elements of $A_\ell$.
The Bershadsky-Polyakov algebras are the minimal quantum hamiltonian reductions of the affine vertex algebras associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_3$ and their simple quotients have a long history of applications in conformal field theory and string theory. Their representation theories are therefore quite interesting. Here, we classify the simple relaxed highest-weight modules, with finite-dimensional weight spaces, for all admissible but nonintegral levels, significantly generalising the known highest-weight classifications [arxiv:1005.0185, arxiv:1910.13781]. In particular, we prove that the simple…
Relaxed highest-weight modules play a central role in the study of many important vertex operator (super)algebras and their associated (logarithmic) conformal field theories, including the admissible-level affine models. Indeed, their structure and their (super)characters together form the crucial input data for the standard module formalism that describes the modular transformations and Grothendieck fusion rules of such theories. In this article, character formulae are proved for relaxed highest-weight modules over the simple admissible-level affine vertex operator superalgebras associated to…
We construct new families of positive energy representations of affine vertex algebras together with their free field realizations by using localization technique. We introduce the twisting functor T_αon the category of modules over affine Kac--Moody algebra \widehat{g}_κof level κfor any positive root αof g, and the Wakimoto functor from a certain category of g-modules to the category of smooth \widehat{g}_κ-modules. These two functors commute and the image of the Wakimoto functor consists of relaxed Wakimoto \widehat{g}_κ-modules. In particular, applying the twisting functor T_αto the relaxe…
We show that the characters of all highest weight modules over an affine Lie algebra with the highest weight away from the critical hyperplane are meromorphic functions in the positive half of Cartan subalgebra, their singularities being at most simple poles at zeros of real roots. We obtain some information about these singularities.
We shall derive Kazhdan-Lusztig type character formula for the irreducible modules with arbitrary non-critical highest weights over affine Lie algebras from the rational case by using the translation functor, the Enright functor and Jantzen's deformation argument.
We present a realisation of the universal/simple Bershadsky--Polyakov vertex algebras as subalgebras of the tensor product of the universal/simple Zamolodchikov vertex algebras and an isotropic lattice vertex algebra. This generalises the realisation of the universal/simple affine vertex algebras associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_2$ and $\mathfrak{osp}(1|2)$ given in arXiv:1711.11342. Relaxed highest-weight modules are likewise constructed, conditions for their irreducibility are established, and their characters are explicitly computed, generalising the character formulae of arXiv:1803.01989.
In [8], the affine vertex algebra $L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ is realized as a subalgebra of the vertex algebra $Vir_c \otimes Π(0)$, where $Vir_c$ is a simple Virasoro vertex algebra and $Π(0)$ is a half-lattice vertex algebra. Moreover, all $L_k(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$--modules (including, modules in the category $KL_k$, relaxed highest weight modules and logarithmic modules) are realized as $Vir_c \otimes Π(0)$--modules. A natural question is the generalization of this construction in higher rank. In the current paper, we study the case $\mathfrak{g}= \mathfrak{sl}_3$ and present realization of the VO…
Koenig and Xi introduced {\em affine cellular algebras}. Kleshchev and Loubert showed that an important class of {\em infinite dimensional} algebras, the KLR algebras $R(Γ)$ of finite Lie type $Γ$, are (graded) affine cellular; in fact, the corresponding affine cell ideals are idempotent. This additional property is reminiscent of the properties of {\em quasihereditary algebras} of Cline-Parshall-Scott in a {\em finite dimensional} situation. A fundamental result of Cline-Parshall-Scott says that a finite dimensional algebra $A$ is quasihereditary if and only if the category of finite dimensio…
The fractional level models are (logarithmic) conformal field theories associated with affine Kac-Moody (super)algebras at certain levels $k \in \mathbb{Q}$. They are particularly noteworthy because of several longstanding difficulties that have only recently been resolved. Here, Wakimoto's free field realisation is combined with the theory of Jack symmetric functions to analyse the fractional level $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}(2)$ models. The first main results are explicit formulae for the singular vectors of minimal grade in relaxed Wakimoto modules. These are closely related to the minimal gra…
We describe Borel and parabolic subalgebras of affine Lie superalgebras and study the Verma type modules associated to such subalgebras. We give necessary and sufficient conditions under which these modules are simple.
We provide an explicit combinatorial description of highest weights of simple highest weight modules over the simple affine vertex algebra of type A of admissible level k. For admissible simple highest weight modules corresponding to the principal, subregular and maximal parabolic nilpotent orbits we give a realization using the Gelfand-Tsetlin theory, which also allows us to obtain a realization of certain classes of simple admissible sl(2)-induced modules in these orbits. In particular, simple admissible sl(2)-induced modules are fully classified for the principal nilpotent orbit.
Locally affine Lie algebras are generalizations of affine Kac--Moody algebras with Cartan subalgebras of infinite rank whose root system is locally affine. In this note we study a class of representations of locally affine algebras generalizing integrable highest weight modules. In particular, we construct such an integrable representation for each integral weight not vanishing on the center and show that, over the complex numbers, we thus obtain unitary representations w.r.t. a unitary real form. We also use Yoshii's recent classification of locally affine root systems to derive a classificat…
In the first part of the paper we give the denominator identity for all simple finite-dimensional Lie super algebras $\frak g\/$ with a non-degenerate invariant bilinear form. We give also a character and (super) dimension formulas for all finite-dimensional irreducible $\frak g\/$-modules of atypicality $\leq 1\/$ . In the second part of the paper we give the denominator identity for the affine superalgebras $\hat{\frak g}\/$ associated to $\frak g\/$. Specializations of this identity give almost all old and many new formulas for the number of representations of an integer as sums of squares …
In 2006, Gao and Zeng \cite{GZ} gave the free field realizations of highest weight modules over a class of extended affine Lie algebras. In the present paper, applying the technique of localization to those free field realizations, we construct a class of new weight modules over the extended affine Lie algebras. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for these modules to be irreducible. In this way, we construct free field realizations for a class of simple weight modules with infinite weight multiplicities over the extended affine Lie algebras.
In this paper, we characterize quasi-integrable modules, of nonzero level, over twisted affine Lie superalgebras. We show that quasi-integrable modules are not necessarily highest weight modules. We prove that each quasi-integrable module is parabolically induced from a cuspidal module, over a finite dimensional Lie superalgebra having a Cartan subalgebra whose corresponding root system just contain real roots; in particular, the classification of quasi-integrable modules is reduced to the known classification of cuspidal modules over such Lie superalgebras.
For a Dynkin quiver $Q$ (of type ADE), we consider a central completion of the convolution algebra of the equivariant K-group of a certain Steinberg type graded quiver variety. We observe that it is affine quasi-hereditary and prove that its category of finite-dimensional modules is identified with a block of Hernandez-Leclerc's monoidal category $\mathcal{C}_Q$ of modules over the quantum loop algebra $U_q(L\mathfrak{g})$ via Nakajima's homomorphism. As an application, we show that Kang-Kashiwara-Kim's generalized quantum affine Schur-Weyl duality functor gives an equivalence between the cate…
We prove a character formula for the irreducible modules from the category $\mathcal{O}$ over the simple affine vertex algebra of type $A_n$ and $C_n$ $(n \geq 2)$ of level $k=-1$. We also give a conjectured character formula for types $D_4$, $E_6$, $E_7$, $E_8$ and levels $k=-1, \cdots, -b$, where $b=2,3,4,6$ respectively.
We show that the equivariant hypertoric convolution algebras introduced by Braden-Licata-Proudfoot-Webster are affine quasi hereditary in the sense of Kleshchev and compute the Ext groups between standard modules. Together with the main result of arXiv:2009.03981, this implies a number of new homological results about the bordered Floer algebras of Ozsvath-Szabo, including the existence of standard modules over these algebras. We prove that the Ext groups between standard modules are isomorphic to the homology of a variant of the Lipshitz-Ozsvath-Thurston bordered strands dg algebras.
Let $Λ$ be a dominant integral weight of level $k$ for the affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ and let $α$ be a non-negative integral combination of simple roots. We address the question of whether the weight $η=Λ-α$ lies in the set $P(Λ)$ of weights in the irreducible highest-weight module with highest weight $Λ$. We give a non-recursive criterion in terms of the coefficients of $α$ modulo an integral lattice $kM$, where $M$ is the lattice parameterizing the abelian normal subgroup $T$ of the Weyl group. The criterion requires the preliminary computation of a set no larger than the fundamental r…
Using the bases of principal subspaces for twisted affine Lie algebras except $A_{2l}^{(2)}$ by Butorac and Sadowski, we construct bases of the highest weight modules of highest weight $kΛ_0$ and parafermionic spases for the same affine Lie algebras. As a result, we obtain their character formulas conjectured in arXiv:math/0102113.
We define a filtration indexed by the integers on the tensor product of an integrable highest weight module and a loop module for a quantum affine algebra. We prove that the filtration is either trivial or strictly decreasing and give sufficient conditions for this to happen. In the first case we prove that the module is irreducible and in the second case we prove that the intersection of all the modules is zero, thus allowing us to define the completed tensor product. In certain special cases, we identify the subsequent quotients of filtration. These are certain highest weight integrable modu…
We construct a (bi)cyclic sieving phenomenon on the union of dominant maximal weights for level $\ell$ highest weight modules over an affine Kac-Moody algebra with exactly one highest weight being taken for each equivalence class, in a way not depending on types, ranks and levels. In order to do that, we introduce $\textbf{\textit{S}}$-evaluation on the set of dominant maximal weights for each highest modules, and generalize Sagan's action by considering the datum on each affine Kac-Moody algebra. As consequences, we obtain closed and recursive formulae for cardinality of the number of dominan…
We study the vertex algebras associated with modular invariant representations of affine Kac-Moody algebras at fractional levels, whose simple highest weight modules are classified by Joseph's characteristic varieties. We show that an irreducible highest weight representation of a non-twisted affine Kac-Moody algebra at an admissible level k is a module over the associated simple affine vertex algebra if and only if it is an admissible representation whose integral root system is isomorphic to that of the vertex algebra itself. This in particular proves the conjecture of Adamovic and Milas on …
We describe the structure of a Verma module with a generic highest weight at the critical level over a symmetrizable affine Lie superalgebra not of the type A(2k,2l)^{(4)}. We obtain the character formula for a simple module with a generic highest weight at the critical level conjectured by V. G. Kac and D. A. Kazhdan.
We determine the exchange relations of the level-one q-vertex operators of the quantum affine superalgebra $U_q[\hat{gl(N|N)}]$. We study in details the level-one irreducible highest weight representations of $U_q[\hat{gl(2|2)}]$, and compute the characters and supercharacters associated with these irreducible modules.
We give a detailed proof of the existence of evaluation map for affine Yangians of type A to clarify that it needs an assumption on parameters. This map was first found by Guay but a proof of its well-definedness and the assumption have not been written down in the literature. We also determine the highest weights of evaluation modules defined as the pull-back of integrable highest weight modules of the affine Lie algebra $\hat{\mathfrak{gl}}_N$ by the evaluation map.
The explicit Verlinde formula for the dimension of conformal blocks, attached to a marked projective curve $Σ$, a simple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ over $\mathbb{C}$ and integrable highest weight modules of a fixed central charge of the corresponding affine Lie algebra $\hat{L}(\mathfrak{g})$ attached to the marked points, requires (among several other important ingredients) a Lie algebra cohomology vanishing result due to C. Teleman for the positive part $\hat{L}^+(\mathfrak{g})$ with coefficients in the tensor product of an integrable highest weight module with copies of finite dimensional e…
In this paper we study the representations of loop Affine-Virasoro Algebras. As they have canonical triangular decomposition, we define Verma modules and its irreducible quotients. We give necessary and sufficient condition for an irreducible highest weight module to have finite dimensional weight spaces. We prove that an irreducible integrable module is either an highest weight module or a lowest weight module whenever the canonical central element acts non trivially. At the end we construct Affine central operators for each integer and they commute with the action of the Affine Lie Algebra.
It is demonstrated that decompositions of integrable highest weight modules of a simple Lie algebra with respect to its reductive subalgebra obey the set of algebraic relations leading to the recursive properties for the corresponding branching coefficients. These properties are encoded in the special element (of the formal algebra E(g)) Gamma_(a ->g) that describes the injection and is called the fan. In the simplest case, when "a" is a Cartan subalgebra of g, the recursion procedure generates the weight diagram of the module L(g). When applied to a reduction of highest weight modules the rec…
The weight multiplicities of finite dimensional simple Lie algebras can be computed individually using various methods. Still, it is hard to derive explicit closed formulas. Similarly, explicit closed formulas for the multiplicities of maximal weights of affine Kac--Moody algebras are not known in most cases. In this paper, we study weight multiplicities for both finite and affine cases of classical types for certain infinite families of highest weights modules. We introduce new classes of Young tableaux, called the {\em $($spin$)$ rigid tableaux}, and prove that they are equinumerous to the w…
Affine Lie algebras admit non-classical highest-weight theories through alternative partitions of the root system. Although significant inroads have been made, much of the classical machinery is inapplicable in this broader context, and some fundamental questions remain unanswered. In particular, the structure of the reducible objects in non-classical theories has not yet been fully understood. This question is addressed here for affine sl(2), which has a unique non-classical highest-weight theory, termed "imaginary". The reducible Verma modules in the imaginary theory possess an infinite desc…
We prove that the multiplicity of an arbitrary dominant weight for an integrable highest weight representation of the affine Kac-Moody algebra $A_{r}^{(1)}$ is a polynomial in the rank $r$. In the process we show that the degree of this polynomial is less than or equal to the depth of the weight with respect to the highest weight. These results allow weight multiplicity information for small ranks to be transferred to arbitrary ranks.
We define the categories of weight-finite modules over the type $\mathfrak a_1$ quantum affine algebra $\dot{\mathrm{U}}_q(\mathfrak a_1)$ and over the type $\mathfrak a_1$ double quantum affine algebra $\ddot{\mathrm{U}}_q(\mathfrak a_1)$ that we introduced in a previous paper. In both cases, we classify the simple objects in those categories. In the quantum affine case, we prove that they coincide with the simple finite-dimensional $\dot{\mathrm{U}}_q(\mathfrak a_1)$-modules which were classified by Chari and Pressley in terms of their highest (rational and $\ell$-dominant) $\ell$-weights or…
In the paper we consider the problem of computation of characters of relatively integrable irreducible highest weight modules $L$ over finite-dimensional basic Lie superalgebras and over affine Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{g}$. The problems consists of two parts. First, it is the reduction of the problem to the $\overline{\mathfrak{g}}$-module $F(L)$, where $\overline{\mathfrak{g}}$ is the associated to $L$ integral Lie superalgebra and $F(L)$ is an integrable irreducible highest weight $\overline{\mathfrak{g}}$-module. Second, it is the computation of characters of integrable highest weight m…
Irreducible nonzero level modules with finite-dimensional weight spaces are studied for non-twisted affine Lie superalgebras. A complete classification is obtained for superalgebras A(m,n)^ and C(n)^. In other cases the classification problem is reduced to the classification of cuspidal modules over finite-dimensional cuspidal Lie superalgebras described by Dimitrov, Mathieu and Penkov. It is also shown that any irreducible weakly integrable (in the sense of Kac and Wakimoto) module is highest weight.
Let $V(Λ_i)$ (resp., $V(-Λ_j)$) be a fundamental integrable highest (resp., lowest) weight module of $U_q(\hat{sl}_{2})$. The tensor product $V(Λ_i)\otimes V(-Λ_j)$ is filtered by submodules $F_n=U_q(\hat{sl}_{2})(v_i\otimes \bar{v}_{n-i})$, $n\ge 0, n\equiv i-j\bmod 2$, where $v_i\in V(Λ_i)$ is the highest vector and $\bar{v}_{n-i}\in V(-Λ_j)$ is an extremal vector. We show that $F_n/F_{n+2}$ is isomorphic to the level 0 extremal weight module $V(n(Λ_1-Λ_0))$. Using this we give a functional realization of the completion of $V(Λ_i)\otimes V(-Λ_j)$ by the filtration $(F_n)_{n\geq0}$. The subsp…
Imaginary Verma modules, parabolic imaginary Verma modules, and Verma modules at level zero for double affine Lie algebras are constructed using three different triangular decompositions. Their relations are investigated, and several results are generalized from the affine Lie algebras. In particular, imaginary highest weight modules, integrable modules, and irreducibility criterion are also studied.
For an admissible affine vertex algebra $V_k(\mathfrak{g})$ of type $A$, we describe a new family of relaxed highest weight representations of $V_k(\mathfrak{g})$. They are simple quotients of representations of the affine Kac-Moody algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{g}}$ induced from the following $\mathfrak{g}$-modules: 1) generic Gelfand-Tsetlin modules in the principal nilpotent orbit, in particular all such modules induced from $\mathfrak{sl}_2$; 2) all Gelfand-Tsetlin modules in the principal nilpotent orbit which are induced from $\mathfrak{sl}_3$; 3) all simple Gelfand-Tsetlin modules over $\…
We present an explicit character formula for the irreducible highest weight representations of the non-twisted affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra at the critical level which are integrable over the corresponding finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra.
Highest weight modules of the double affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}}_{2}$ are studied under a new triangular decomposition. Singular vectors of Verma modules are determined using a similar condition with horizontal affine Lie subalgebras, and highest weight modules are described under the condition that $c_1>0$ and $c_2=0$.
We use the idea of free fields to obtain highest weight representations for the extended affine Lie algebra $\widetilde{\frak{gl}_{2}(\bc_q)}$ coordinatized by the quantum torus $\bc_q$ and go on to construct a contravariant hermitian form. We further give a necessary and sufficient condition such that the contravariant hermitian form is positive definite.
We show that the Kazhdan-Lusztig category $KL_k$ of level-$k$ finite-length modules with highest-weight composition factors for the affine Lie superalgebra $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}(1|1)}$ has vertex algebraic braided tensor supercategory structure, and that its full subcategory $\mathcal{O}_k^{fin}$ of objects with semisimple Cartan subalgebra actions is a tensor subcategory. We show that every simple $\widehat{\mathfrak{gl}(1|1)}$-module in $KL_k$ has a projective cover in $\mathcal{O}_k^{fin}$, and we determine all fusion rules involving simple and projective objects in $\mathcal{O}_k^{fin}$.…
We introduce and begin to study Lie theoretical analogs of symplectic reflection algebras for a finite cyclic group, which we call "cyclic double affine Lie algebra". We focus on type A : in the finite (resp. affine, double affine) case, we prove that these structures are finite (resp. affine, toroidal) type Lie algebras, but the gradings differ. The case which is essentially new involves $\mathbb{C}[u,v]$. We describe its universal central extensions and start the study of its representation theory, in particular of its highest weight integrable modules and Weyl modules. We also consider the …
Let Uq(g) be the quantum affine superalgebra associated with an affine Kac-Moody superalgebra g which belongs to the three series osp(1|2n)^(1),sl(1|2n)^(2) and osp(2|2n)^(2). We develop vertex operator constructions for the level 1 irreducible integrable highest weight representations and classify the finite dimensional irreducible representations of Uq(g). This makes essential use of the Drinfeld realisation for Uq(g), and quantum correspondences between affine Kac-Moody superalgebras, developed in earlier papers.
In this paper we construct combinatorial bases of parafermionic spaces associated with the standard modules of the rectangular highest weights for the untwisted affine Lie algebras. Our construction is a modification of G. Georgiev's construction for the affine Lie algebra $\widehat{\mathfrak sl}(n+1,\mathbb C)$---the constructed parafermionic bases are projections of the quasi-particle bases of the principal subspaces, obtained previously in a series of papers by the first two authors. As a consequence we prove the character formula of A. Kuniba, T. Nakanishi and J. Suzuki for all non-simply-…
We study the category of graded finite-dimensional representations of the polynomial current algebra associated to a simple Lie algebra. We prove that the category has enough injectives and compute the graded character of the injective envelopes of the simple objects as well as extensions between simple objects. The simple objects in the category are parametized by the affine weight lattice. We show that with respect to a suitable refinement of the standard ordering on affine the weight lattice the category is highest weight. We compute the Ext quiver of the algebra of endomorphisms of the inj…
We construct combinatorial bases of principal subspaces of standard modules of level $k \geq 1$ with highest weight $kΛ_0$ for the twisted affine Lie algebras of type $A_{2l-1}^{(2)}$, $D_l^{(2)}$, $E_6^{(2)}$ and $D_4^{(3)}$. Using these bases we directly calculate characters of principal subspaces.
We give a general way of representing the crystal (base) corresponding to the intgrable highest weight modules of quantum Kac-Moody algebras, which is called polyhedral realizations. This is applied to describe explicitly the crystal bases of integrable highest weight modules for arbitrary rank 2 Kac-Moody algebra cases, the classical A_n-case and the affine A^{(1)}_{n-1}-case.
We classify integrable irreducible $\hat{g}[σ]$-modules in categories E and C, where E is proved to contain the well known evaluation modules and C to unify highest weight modules, evaluation modules and their tensor product modules.
