We have performed a study of the characteristics of the circumstellar environment of the binary object HD101584, that provides information on a likely evolutionary scenario. We have obtained and analysed ALMA observations, complemented with observations using APEX, of a large number of molecular lines. An analysis of the spectral energy distribution has also been performed. Emissions from 12 molecular species (not counting isotopologues) have been observed, and most of them mapped with angular resolutions in the range 0.1" to 0.6". Four circumstellar components are identified: i) a central compact source of size 0.15", ii) an expanding equatorial density enhancement (a flattened density distribution in the plane of the orbit) of size 3", iii) a bipolar high-velocity outflow (150 km/s), and iv) an hourglass structure. The outflow is directed almost along the line of sight. There is evidence of a second bipolar outflow. The mass of the circumstellar gas is 0.5[D/1 kpc]^2 Msun, about half of it lies in the equatorial density enhancement. The dust mass is 0.01[D/1 kpc]^2 Msun, and a substantial fraction of this is in the form of large-sized, up to 1 mm, grains. The estimated kinetic age of the outflow is 770[D/1 kpc] yr. The kinetic energy and the scalar momentum of the accelerated gas are estimated to be 7x10^(45)[D/1 kpc]^2 erg and 10^(39)[D/1 kpc]^2 g cm/s, respectively. We provide good evidence that the binary system HD101584 is in a post-common-envelope-evolution phase, that ended before a stellar merger. Isotope ratios combined with stellar mass estimates suggest that the primary star's evolution was terminated already on the first red giant branch (RGB). Most of the energy required to drive the outflowing gas was probably released when material fell towards the companion.
Using the Gaia DR2 and EDR3 data and list of post-AGB candidates, we investigate the parallax, proper motion and binarity for twenty post-AGB stars and candidates having high radial velocities. From their Gaia distances their luminosities and kinematics are derived. The evolutionary status of these stars is discussed from their location on the post-AGB evolutionary tracks. Nine stars are confirmed to be post-AGB stars that have their initial main-sequence mass around one or two solar masses. From their kinematics information, two objects among them are identified to clearly belong to the halo …
Disks are ubiquitous in stellar astronomy, and play a crucial role in the formation and evolution of stars. In this contribution we present an overview of the most recent results, with emphasis on high spatial and spectral resolution. We will start with a general discussion on direct versus indirect detection of disks, and then traverse the HR diagram starting with the pre-Main Sequence and ending with evolved stars.
The evolutionary status of 24 post-AGB stars is presented based on Gaia DR3 data. All 24 stars have parallaxes accurate to better than 3 X sigma and have RUWE values less than 1.4. Based on the Gaia DR3 distances the absolute luminosities are derived. For 14 of the stars, the luminosities confirm their post-AGB evolutionary stage. However, V1027 Cyg, which was previously classified as a post-AGB star, is found to have a higher luminosity; thus it may be an evolved, massive, pulsating semi-regular variable star of type G7Ia. For 9 of the stars, the luminosities are lower than 1000 L (sun), indi…
New complete light and radial velocities curves were obtained for the eclipsing binaries CC Her and CM Lac. The data are analysed with modern techniques in order to derive the physical parameters of the systems and study their present evolutionary status. We found that CC Her is a classical Algol type binary, while CM Lac is a detached system with two Main Sequence stars in asynchronous orbit.
Asteroseismology is a very useful tool for exploring the stellar interiors and evolutionary status and for determining stellar fundamental parameters, such as stellar mass, radius, surface gravity, and the stellar mean density. In the present work, we use it to preliminarily analyze the 14 new-type pulsating stars: Blue Large-Amplitude Pulsators (BLAPs) which is observed by OGLE project, to roughly analyze their evolutionary status. We adopt the theory of single star evolution and artificially set the mass loss rate of $\dot{M}=-2\times10^{-4}~{\rm M_{\odot}/year}$ and mass loss beginning at t…
We have developed a procedure for the classification of eclipsing binaries from their light-curve parameters and spectral type. The procedure was tested on more than 1000 systems with known classification, and its efficiency was estimated for every evolutionary status we use. The procedure was applied to about 4700 binaries with no classification, and the vast majority of them was classified successfully. Systems of relatively rare evolutionary classes were detected in that process, as well as systems with unusual and/or contradictory parameters. Also, for 50 previously unclassified cluster bi…
Light curve modeling for the newly discovered system 1SWASP J092328.76+435044 was carried out by using a new BVR complete light curves. A spotted model was applied to treat the asymmetry of the light curves. The output model was obtained by means of Wilson-Devinney code, which reveals that the massive component is hotter than the less massive one with about ΔT ~ 400K. A total of 8 new times of minima were estimated. The evolutionary state of the system components was investigated based on the estimated physical parameters.
Aims. The magnetic star HD148937 is the only Galactic Of?p star surrounded by a nebula. The structure of this nebula is particularly complex and is composed, from the center out outwards, of a close bipolar ejecta nebula (NGC6164/5), an ellipsoidal wind-blown shell, and a spherically symmetric Stromgren sphere. The exact formation process of this nebula and its precise relation to the star's evolution remain unknown. Methods. We analyzed infrared Spitzer IRS and far-infrared Herschel/PACS observations of the NGC6164/5 nebula. The Herschel imaging allowed us to constrain the global morphology o…
From Gaia DR 2 data of eight high velocity hot post-AGB candidates LS 3593, LSE 148, LS 5107, HD 172324, HD 214539, LS IV -12 111, LS III +52 24, and LS 3099, we found that six of them have accurate parallaxes which made it possible to derive their distances, absolute visual magnitudes (M_V) and luminosity (log L/L_sun). Except LS 5107 all the remaining seven stars have accurate effective temperature (T_eff) in the literature. Some of these stars are metal-poor and some of them do not have circumstellar dust shells. In the past the distances of some stars were estimated to be 6~kpc which we fi…
The problem of the determination of T Tauri stars masses and ages using their evolutionary status is discussed. We test of pre-main sequence evolutionary models of D'Antona \& Mazzitelli (1994), Dotter et al. (2008), Bressan et al. (2012) and Chen et al. (2014), Baraffe et al. (2015) using well determined observational parameters of 12 binary T Tauri stars (TTS) and 2 binary red dwarfs. It is shown that the masses derived using the tracks of all models are in good agreement with the masses obtained from the observations of TTS with masses $M > 0.7 M_{\odot}$ (mean error $\varepsilon\sim10\% $)…
We have analyzed a sample of 74 magnetically active stars toward the Taurus-Auriga star-forming region. Based on accurate data on their basic physical parameters obtained from original photometric observations and published data on their proper motions, X-ray luminosities, and equivalent widths of the $\rm Hα$ and Li lines, we have refined the evolutionary status of these objects. We show that 50 objects are young stars with ages of 1-40 Myr and belong to the Taurus-Auriga star-forming region. Other 20 objects have a controversial evolutionary status and can belong to both Taurus-Auriga star-f…
New and complete multi-band light curves of the oEA stars QY Aql, BW Del, TZ Dra, BO Her and RR Lep were obtained and analysed with the Wilson-Devinney code. The light curves residuals were further analysed with the Fourier method in order to derive the pulsation characteristics of the oscillating components. All the reliable observed times of minimum light were used to examine orbital period irregularities. The orbital period analyses revealed secular changes for QY Aql and BW Del, while the Light-Time Effect seems to be the best explanation for the cyclic period changes in TZ Dra and BO Her.…
Long-term homogeneous photometry for 35 classical T Tauri stars (cTTS) in the Taurus-Auriga star-forming region (Tau-Aur SFR) has been analyzed. Reliable effective temperatures, interstellar extinctions, luminosities, radii, masses, and ages have been determined for these cTTS. The physical parameters and evolutionary status of 35 cTTS from this work and 34 weak-line T Tauri stars (wTTS) from previous studies have been compared. The luminosities, radii, and rotation periods of low-mass (0.3-1.1 Msun) cTTS are shown to be, on average, greater than those of low-mass wTTS, in good agreement with …
The advanced stages of several high-mass stars are characterized by episodic mass loss shed during phases of instability. Key for assigning these stars a proper evolutionary state is to assess the composition and geometry of their ejecta alongside the stellar properties. We selected five hot LBV candidates in M33 to refine their classification, investigate their circumstellar environments and explore their evolutionary properties. Being accessible targets in the near-infrared, we conducted medium-resolution spectroscopy with GNIRS/GEMINI in the $K-$band to investigate their molecular circumste…
On the basis of consistent stellar evolution and nonlinear stellar pulsation calculations the Cepheid V1033 Cyg is shown to be the post--main sequence star at the first crossing of the instability strip during gravitational contraction of the helium core. The observed light variability of V1033 Cyg is due to radial oscillations in the fundamental mode. The best agreement (within one percent) between recent observations and the theoretical estimate of the period change rate was obtained for the evolutionary sequence with stellar mass $M=6.3M_\odot$ and helium and heavier element fractional abun…
As part of a multi-year survey for Wolf-Rayet stars in the Magellanic Clouds, we have discovered a new type of Wolf-Rayet star with both strong emission and absorption. While one might initially classify these stars as WN3+O3V binaries based on their spectra, such a pairing is unlikely given their faint visual magnitudes. Spectral modeling suggests effective temperatures and bolometric luminosities similar to those of other early-type LMC WNs but with mass-loss rates that are three to five times lower than expected. They additionally retain a significant amount of hydrogen, with nitrogen at it…
We determine the age and mass of the three best solar twin candidates in open cluster M67 through lithium evolutionary models. We computed a grid of evolutionary models with non-standard mixing at metallicity [Fe/H] = 0.01 with the Toulouse-Geneva evolution code for a range of stellar masses. We estimated the mass and age of 10 solar analogs belonging to the open cluster M67. We made a detailed study of the three solar twins of the sample, YPB637, YPB1194, and YPB1787. We obtained a very accurate estimation of the mass of our solar analogs in M67 by interpolating in the grid of evolutionary mo…
The Methanol MultiBeam survey (MMB) provides the most complete sample of Galactic massive young stellar objects (MYSOs) hosting 6.7GHz class II methanol masers. We characterise the properties of these maser sources using dust emission detected by the Herschel Infrared Galactic Plane Survey (Hi-GAL) to assess their evolutionary state. Associating 731 (73%) of MMB sources with compact emission at four Hi-GAL wavelengths, we derive clump properties and define the requirements of a MYSO to host a 6.7GHz maser. The median far-infrared (FIR) mass and luminosity are 630M$_{\odot}$ and 2500L$_{\odot}$…
Thanks to the recent very high-precision photometry of red giants from satellites such as Kepler, precise mass and radius values as well as accurate information of evolutionary stages are already established by asteroseismic approach for a large number of G-K giants. Based on the high-dispersion spectra of selected such 55 red giants in the Kepler field with precisely known seismic parameters (among which parallaxes are available for 9 stars), we checked the accuracy of the determination method of stellar parameters previously applied to many red giants by Takeda et al. (2008, PASJ, 60, 781), …
Aims. We study a sample of eight B[e] stars with uncertain evolutionary status to shed light on the origin of their circumstellar dust. Methods. We performed a diagnostic analysis on the spectral energy distribution beyond infrared wavelengths, and conducted a census of neighboring region of each target to ascertain its evolutionary status. Results. In comparison to pre-main sequence Herbig stars, these B[e] stars show equally substantial excess emission in the near-infrared, indicative of existence of warm dust, but much reduced excess at longer wavelengths, so the dusty envelopes should be c…
The Slowly Pulsating B-type (SPB) stars are the upper main-sequence stars on the HR diagram. Their oscillations are high-order, low-degree g-mode and can be used to probe the structure of the radiative zone where is near the outer boundary of the convective core and constrain the chemical mixing in stellar interiors. In SPB stars, the period spacing periodically varies with periods. It has regarded as a signature of the chemical composition gradient beyond the convective core. Based on theoretical calculations, we find that the variation frequency of the period spacings ($f_{ΔP}$) is related t…
Aims: We aim to derive the absolute parameters of the components of AD And, AL Cam, and V338 Her, interpret their orbital period changes and discuss their evolutionary status. Methods: New and complete multi-filter light curves of the eclipsing binaries AD And, AL Cam, and V338 Her were obtained and analysed with modern methods. Using all reliably observed times of minimum light, we examined orbital period irregularities using the least squares method. In addition, we acquired new spectroscopic observations during the secondary eclipses for AL Cam and V338 Her. Results: For AL Cam and V338 Her…
New spectroscopic observations of the LBV/WR multiple system HD5980 in the Small Magellanic Cloud are used to address the question of the masses and evolutionary status of the two very luminous stars in the 19.3d eclipsing binary system. Two distinct components of the N V 4944 A line are detected in emission and their radial velocity variations are used to derive masses of 61 and 66 Mo, under the assumption that binary interaction effects on this atomic transition are negligible. We propose that this binary system is the product of quasi-chemically homogeneous evolution with little or no mass …
The location of the supergiant (sg)B[e] star Wd1-9 within the coeval starburst cluster Westerlund 1 allows for its placement in a detailed post-Main Sequence evolutionary scheme and hence we have utilised a comprehensive multiwavelength dataset to determine its physical properties and relation to other sgB[e] stars and the evolved stellar population of Wd1. Wd1-9 is found to exhibit the rich optical emission line spectrum that is characteristic of sgB[e] stars, while dust mass, composition and disc geometry determined from mid-IR data resemble those of other well known examples such as R126. E…
Hydrodynamic models of short--period Cepheids were computed to determine the pulsation period as a function of evolutionary time during the first and third crossings of the instability strip. The equations of radiation hydrodynamics and turbulent convection for radial stellar pulsations were solved with the initial conditions obtained from the evolutionary models of population I stars (X=0.7, Z=0.02) with masses from 5.2 to 6.5 Msol and the convective core overshooting parameter 0.1 <= aov <= 0.3. In Cepheids with period of 4 d the rate of pulsation period change during the first crossing of t…
We use original spectra and available photometric data to recover parameters of the stellar atmosphere of PZ Mon, formerly referred as an active red dwarf. The derived effective temperature Teff=4700K and gravity lgg=2.8 suggest that PZ Mon is a K2III giant. Stellar atmosphere parameters (Teff and lgg) alongside with the evolutionary tracks are used to estimate the stellar mass of ~1.5Mo and the radius of ~7.7Ro. The angular radius derived by the infrared flux method when combined with the linear radius suggests the distance of 250+/-70 pc, a factor 2.5 smaller than that suggested by the Hippa…
The star RZ Psc is one of the most enigmatic members of the UX Ori star family. It shows all properties that are typical for these stars (the light variability, high linear polarization in deep minima, the blueing effect) except for one: it lacks any signatures of youth. With the Li I line, as a rough estimate for the stellar age, we show that the "lithium" age of RZ Psc lies between the age of stars in the Pleiades (approximately 70 Myr) and the Orion (approximately 10 Myr) clusters. We also roughly estimated the age of RZ Psc based on the proper motion of the star using the Tycho-2 catalog. …
We present the results of a multi-wavelength study of circumstellar discs around 44 young stellar objects in the 3 Myr old nearby Chamaeleon I star-forming region. In particular, we explore the far-infrared/submm regime using Herschel fluxes. We show that Herschel fluxes at 160-500$\,μ$m can be used to derive robust estimates of the disc mass. The median disc mass is 0.005$M_{\odot}$ for a sample of 28 Class IIs and 0.006$M_{\odot}$ for 6 transition disks (TDs). The fraction of objects in Chamaeleon-I with at least the `minimum mass solar nebula' is 2-7%. This is consistent with previously pub…

The Blue Large-Amplitude Pulsators (BLAPs) constitute a new class of pulsating stars. They are hot stars with effective temperatures of ~30 000 K and surface gravities of log g ~ 4.9, that pulsate with periods in the range 20-40 min. Until now, their origin and evolutionary state, as well as the nature of their pulsations, were not been unveiled. In this paper, we propose that the BLAPs are the hot counterpart of the already known pulsating pre-Extremely Low Mass (pre-ELM) white dwarf (WD) stars, that are He-core low-mass stars resulting from interacting binary evolution. Using fully evolution…
We have analyzed the observed radial-velocity curve for the X-ray binary M33 X-7 in a Roche model. We have analyzed the dependence between the component masses and the degree of filling of the optical star's Roche lobe to obtain the ratio of the masses of the optical star and compact object. For the most probable mass of the optical star, $m_v=70M_{\odot}$, the mass of the compact object is $m_x=15.55\pm3.20 M_{\odot}$. It has been shown that black holes with masses of $m_x=15M_{\odot}$ and even higher can form in binaries. We present characteristic evolutionary tracks for binary systems passi…
Eclipsing binary systems are unique stellar objects to examine and understand the stellar evolution and the formation. Thanks to these systems, the fundamental stellar parameters (mass, radius) can be obtained very precisely. The existence of metallic-line (Am) stars in binaries is noticeably common. However, the known number of Am stars in eclipsing binaries is less. The Am stars in eclipsing binaries are extremely useful to deeply investigate the properties of Am stars, as the eclipsing binaries are the only tool to directly derive the fundamental stellar parameters. Additionally, the atmosp…
We present measurements of the component masses in 15 Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) - 6 new estimates and 9 improved estimates. We provide new calibrations of the relationship between superhump period excess and mass ratio, and use this relation to estimate donor star masses for 225 superhumping CVs. With an increased sample of donor masses we revisit the implications for CV evolution. We confirm the high mass of white dwarfs in CVs, but find no trend in white dwarf mass with orbital period. We argue for a revision in the location of the orbital period minimum of CVs to $79.6 \pm 0.2$ min, signi…
The Blue Large-Amplitude Pulsators (BLAPs) constitute a new class of pulsating stars. They are hot stars with effective temperatures of $T_{\rm eff}\sim 30\,000$ K and surface gravities of $\log g \sim 4.9$, that pulsate with periods in the range $\sim 20-40$ min. In Romero et al. (2018), we proposed that BLAPs are hot low-mass He-core pre-white dwarf (WD) stars that pulsate either in high-order non-radial $g$(gravity) modes or low-order radial modes, including the fundamental radial mode. The theoretical modes with periods in the observed range are unstable due to the $κ$ mechanism associated…
Stellar evolution calculations for population II stars with initial composition $Y_0=0.25$, $Z_0=10^{-3}$ and the initial stellar mass $M_0 = 0.82M_\odot$ were carried out from the main sequence to the white dwarf stage. Twelve AGB and post--AGB evolutionary sequences were computed with different values of the parameter in the Blocker mass loss rate formula ($0.01\leη_B\le 0.12$). Selected models of evolutionary sequences with masses $M=0.536M_\odot$, $0.530M_\odot$ and $0.526M_\odot$ that experience the loop in the Hertzsprung--Russel diagram due to the final helium flash were used as initial…
The spectroscopic binary system HD 66051 (V414 Pup) consists of a highly peculiar CP3 (HgMn) star and an A-type component. It also shows out-of-eclipse variability that is due to chemical spots. This combination allows the derivation of tight constraints for the testing of time-dependent diffusion models. We analysed radial velocity and photometric data using two different methods to determine astrophysical parameters and the orbit of the system. Appropriate isochrones were used to derive the age of the system. The orbital solution and the estimates from the isochrones are in excellent agreeme…
Recently Kamath et al. (2021) analysed Gaia EDR3 data of eighteen post-AGB supergiants with overabundance of s-process elements. For some of these stars in their sample they find unusually very low absolute luminosities which is not in agreement with the s-process nucleosynthesis on the AGB stage of evolution. It appears that they have not taken into account the RUWE values of these stars. I have taken a look at the RUWE values of these eighteen post-AGB stars with over abundance of s-process elements. Of the eighteen stars thirteen have RUWE values much greater than 1.4 and hence their distan…
BP Psc is an active late-type (sp:G9) star with unclear evolutionary status lying at high galactic latitude $b=-57^{\circ}$. It is also the source of the well collimated bipolar jet. We present results of the proper motion and radial velocity study of BP Psc outflow based on the archival $Hα$ imaging with the GMOS camera at 8.1-m Gemini-North telescope as well as recent imaging and long-slit spectroscopy with the SCORPIO multi-mode focal reducer at 6-m BTA telescope of SAO RAS. The 3D kinematics of the jet revealed the full spatial velocity up to $\sim$140 km$\cdot$s$^{-1}$ and allows us to es…
We present a study of the evolutionary state of a few lithium-rich giant stars based on the Gaia DR2 parallaxes and photometry. We also investigate the chromospheric activity, the presence of a surface magnetic field, and the radial velocity for our sample stars. We analysed both archive and new data. We gathered archive spectra from several instruments, mainly ELODIE and NARVAL, and we added new data acquired with the spectrograph MUSICOS. We applied the Least-Squares Deconvolution technique to obtain Stokes V and Stokes I mean profiles to compute longitudinal magnetic field for a subset. Mor…
Double-lined eclipsing binaries allow accurate and direct determination of fundamental parameters such as mass and radius for each component, and they provide important constraints on the stellar structure and evolution models. In this study, we aim to determine a unique set of binary parameters for the Algol system W UMi and to examine its evolutionary status. New high-resolution time-series spectroscopic observations were carried out during 14 nights from April 2008 to March 2011, and a total of 37 spectra were obtained using the Bohyunsan Optical Echelle Spectrograph. We measured the radial…
The determination of fundamental parameters of stars is one of the main tasks of astrophysics. For magnetic chemically peculiar stars, this problem is complicated by the anomalous chemical composition of their atmospheres, which requires special analysis methods. We present the results of the effective temperature, surface gravity, abundance and radius determinations for three CP stars HD 188041, HD 111133, and HD 204411. Our analysis is based on a self-consistent model fitting of high-resolution spectra and spectrophrotometric observations over a wide wavelength range, taking into account the…
We have performed a survey for new members of the Upper Sco association that have circumstellar disks using mid-infrared photometry from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). Through optical and near-infrared spectroscopy, we have confirmed 185 candidates as likely members of Upper Sco with spectral types ranging from mid-K to M9. They comprise ~36% of the known disk-bearing members of the association. We also have compiled all available mid-infrared photometry from WISE and the Spitzer Space Telescope for the known members of Upper Sco, resulting in a catalog of data for 1608 object…
I review multiwavelength observations of material seen around different types of evolved massive stars (i.e. red supergiants, yellow hypergiants, luminous blue variables, B[e] supergiants, and Wolf-Rayet stars), concentrating on diagnostics of mass, composition, and kinetic energy in both local and distant examples. Circumstellar material has significant implications for the evolutionary state of the star, the role of episodic mass loss in stellar evolution, and the roles of binarity and rotation in shaping the ejecta. This mass loss determines the type of supernova that results via the stripp…
We aim at establishing safe membership and evolutionary status of 11 chemically peculiar (CP) stars that are residing in the domain of the open cluster NGC2516 and are frequently referred to as cluster members. We queried the Gaia EDR3 catalogue in an area with a radius of 1deg and selected 37508 stars brighter than G=19mag. The cluster membership was determined in parallax-proper motion-space and 719 probable and 764 possible members were found. The obtained average astrometric and photometric parameters of the cluster are in good agreement with the most recent literature data. The evolutiona…
We revisit the observed frequencies of Carbon-Enhanced Metal-Poor (CEMP) stars as a function of the metallicity in the Galaxy, using data from the literature with available high-resolution spectroscopy. Our analysis excludes stars exhibiting clear over-abundances of neutron-capture elements, and takes into account the expected depletion of surface carbon abundance that occurs due to CN processing on the upper red-giant branch. This allows for the recovery of the initial carbon abundance of these stars, and thus for an accurate assessment of the frequencies of carbon-enhanced stars. The correct…
We present the analysis of a peculiar W~Virginis (pWVir) type-II Cepheid, OGLE-LMC-T2CEP-211 ($P_{puls}=9.393\,d$), in a double-lined binary system ($P_{orb}=242\,d$), which shed light on virtually unknown evolutionary status and structure of pWVir stars. The dynamical mass of the Cepheid (first ever for a type-II Cepheid) is $0.64\pm{}0.02\,M_\odot$ and the radius $R=25.1\pm{}0.3\,R_\odot$. The companion is a massive ($5.67\,M_\odot$) main-sequence star obscured by a disk. Such configuration suggests a mass transfer in the system history. We found that originally the system ($P_{orb}^{init}=1…
Velocity Structure of Circumstellar Environment around Class 0/I Protostars: Uncertainty in the Protostellar Mass Estimation Using Circumstellar Velocities
Multi-color ($B$ $V$ $R_c$ $I_c$) CCD photometric light curves of the contact binary V502 Oph are analyzed using the Wilson-Devinney (W-D) program. The solutions reveal that V502 Oph is a W-subtype contact ($f = 35.3\,\%$) binary system. The temperature difference between its two components is $240K$ and the more massive star has a lower surface temperature. A cool spot is added in our model to account for the light curves' asymmetry (O'Connell effect) and third light is detected for the first time in the light curves' modeling. Combining the orbital inclination ($i = 76.4^{\circ}$) with the p…
Massive protostars grow and evolve under the effect of rapid accretion of circumstellar gas and dust, falling at high rates ($\ge 10^{-4}$-$10^{-3}\, \rm M_{\odot}\, \rm yr^{-1}$). This mass infall has been shown, both numerically and observationally, to be episodically interspersed by accretion of dense gaseous clumps migrating through the circumstellar disc to the protostellar surface, causing sudden accretion and luminous bursts. Using numerical gravito-radiation-hydrodynamics and stellar evolution calculations, we demonstrate that, in addition to the known bloating of massive protostars, v…

Based on the high resolution spectral monitoring conducted at the 6-m BTA telescope, we study the optical spectrum of the high-latitude variable V534 Lyr. Heliocentric radial velocities Vr corresponding to the positions of all metal absorption components, as well as the NaI D and H$α$ lines were measured during all the observational dates. The analysis of the velocity field examining the lines of various nature revealed a low-amplitude variability of Vr based on the lines with a high excitation potential, which are formed in deep layers of the stellar atmosphere, and allowed to estimate the sy…
We present detailed chemical compositions of 10 red giant star members of the Galactic (open) cluster NGC 752, derived from high-resolution (R $\approx$ 60,000), high signal-to-noise ($S/N$ $\geq$ 140) spectra. We confirmed cluster memberships by measuring the stellar radial velocities, and by deriving model atmosphere parameters ($T_{eff}$, logg, [Fe/H] and $ξ_{t}$) from equivalent widths of Fe I, Fe II, Ti I, and Ti II lines. The metallicity we obtained for NGC 752 ([Fe/H]=$-$0.02$\pm$0.05) is in good agreement with previous studies. We derived abundances of $α$ (Mg, Si, Ca), light odd-Z (Na…
We consider constraints on the distance, inclination and component masses in the X-ray binary GX 339--4 resulting from published works, and then construct detailed evolutionary models for the donor. From both considerations, and assuming the black-hole nature for the compact object (i.e., its mass $>3\rm{M}_{\odot}$), the possible donor mass is $\approx$0.5--$1.4\rm{M}_{\odot}$, the inclination is $\approx{40}^\circ$--$60^\circ$ and the distance is $\approx$8--12\,kpc. The corresponding mass of the compact object is $\approx$4--$11\rm{M}_{\odot}$. We then confirm a previous estimate that the t…
The brightest continuum source in the Orion Molecular Cloud-3 region (OMC-3), MMS 6, was observed with the Very Large Array (VLA), the Nobeyama Millimeter Array (NMA), and the Submillimeter Array (SMA). Our data were supplemented by near- to mid-infrared archival data taken by Spitzer Space Telescope. The compact continuum source, MMS 6-main, was detected with an H_2 mass of 3.0 Msun with a size of 510 AU. Despite its compact and well condensed appearance, neither clear CO outflow, radio jet, nor infrared sources (at a wave-length shorter than 8 um) were detected at MMS 6-main even with the pr…
We have compiled photometry at 3.4, 4.6, 12 and 22 $μ$m from the all-sky survey performed by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) for all known members of the Taurus complex of dark clouds. Using these data and photometry from the Spitzer Space Telescope, we have identified members with infrared excess emission from circumstellar disks and have estimated the evolutionary stages of the detected disks, which include 31 new full disks and 16 new candidate transitional, evolved, evolved transitional, and debris disks. We have also used the WISE All-Sky Source Catalog to search for new di…
