Stellar evolution calculations for population II stars with initial composition $Y_0=0.25$, $Z_0=10^{-3}$ and the initial stellar mass $M_0 = 0.82M_\odot$ were carried out from the main sequence to the white dwarf stage. Twelve AGB and post--AGB evolutionary sequences were computed with different values of the parameter in the Blocker mass loss rate formula ($0.01\leη_B\le 0.12$). Selected models of evolutionary sequences with masses $M=0.536M_\odot$, $0.530M_\odot$ and $0.526M_\odot$ that experience the loop in the Hertzsprung--Russel diagram due to the final helium flash were used as initial conditions for solution of the equations of hydrodynamics describing radial stellar oscillations. The region of instability to radial fundamental mode pulsations is shown to extend from the asymptotic giant branch to effective temperatures as high as $T_\mathrm{eff}\approx 6\times 10^3$ K. Pulsation periods of hydrodynamic models are in the range from 15 to 50 day and agree with periods of W~Vir pulsating stars. The models of intermediate spectral type fundamental mode pulsators with periods $Π> 50$ day locate in the upper part of the Hertzsprung--Russel diagram in the region of semiregular pulsating variables. We conclude that W~Vir pulsating variables are the low--mass post--AGB stars that experience the final helium flash.
We present the methodology and some preliminary results of our study of the relationship between a Mira's pulsating photosphere and its surrounding molecular layer(s) throughout several pulsation cycles, based on spatially resolved data. Our dataset consists of archival narrow-band observations in the near-infrared H and K bands obtained with the Palomar Testbed Interferometer between 1999 and 2006, extended with a few nights of VLTI AMBER low spectral resolution data and near-infrared SAAO photometry. The fitted model is the geometric star + layer model proposed by Perrin et al. (2004), in wh…
We report here the tentative discovery of a Jovian planet in orbit around the rapidly pulsating subdwarf B-type (sdB-type) eclipsing binary NY Vir. By using new determined eclipse times together with those collected from the literature, we detect that the observed-calculated (O-C) curve of NY Vir shows a small-amplitude cyclic variation with a period of 7.9\,years and a semiamplitude of 6.1\,s, while it undergoes a downward parabolic change (revealing a period decrease at a rate of $\dot{P}=-9.2\times{10^{-12}}$). The periodic variation was analyzed for the light-travel time effect via the pre…
We have carried out a statistic survey on the pulsating variable stars with multiple identities. These stars were identified to exhibit two types of pulsation or multiple light variability types in the literature, and are usually called hybrid pulsators. We extracted the hybrid information based on the Simbad database. Actually, all the variables with multiple identities are retrieved. The survey covers various pulsating stars across the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram. We aim at giving a clue in selecting interesting targets for further observation. Hybrid pulsators are excellent targets for aste…
We present two new GW Vir-type pulsating white dwarf stars, TIC\,0403800675 (WD\,J115727.68-280349.64) and TIC\,1989122424 (WD J211738.38-552801.18) discovered in the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) photometric data. For both stars, the TESS light curves reveal the presence of oscillations with periods in a narrow range between 400 and 410\,s, which are associated with typical gravity ($g$)-modes. Follow-up ground-based spectroscopy shows that both stars have similar effective temperature ($T_\mathrm{eff} = 110,000 \pm 10,000$\,K) and surface gravity ($\log g = 7.5 \pm 0.5$), but …
Recent progress in the seismic interpretation of field β Cep stars has resulted in improvements of the physical description in the stellar structure and evolution model computations of massive stars. Further asteroseismic constraints can be obtained from studying ensembles of stars in a young open cluster, which all have similar age, distance and chemical composition. We present an observational asteroseismic study based on the discovery of numerous multi-periodic and mono-periodic B-stars in the open cluster NGC 884. Our study illustrates the current status of ensemble asteroseismology of a y…
The combination of photometry, spectroscopy and spectropolarimetry of the chemically peculiar stars often aims to study the complex physical phenomena such as stellar pulsation, chemical inhomogeneity, magnetic field and their interplay with stellar atmosphere and circumstellar environment. The prime objective of the present study is to determine the atmospheric parameters of a set of Am stars to understand their evolutionary status. Atmospheric abundances and basic parameters are determined using full spectrum fitting technique by comparing the high-resolution spectra to the synthetic spectra…
The catalogue contains 199 confirmed cases of binary systems containing at least one pulsating component of δ Scuti type. The sample is divided into subgroups in order to describe the properties and characteristics of the δ Sct type stars in binaries according to their Roche geometry. Demographics describing quantitatively our knowledge for these systems as well as the distributions of their pulsating components in the Mass-Radius, Colour-Magnitude and Evolutionary Status-Temperature diagrams are presented and discussed. It is shown that a threshold of ~13 days of the orbital period regarding …
We searched for circumbinary planets orbiting NY Vir in historical eclipse times including our long-term CCD data. Sixty-eight times of minimum light with accuracies better than 10 s were used for the ephemeris computations. The best fit to those timings indicated that the orbital period of NY Vir has varied due to a combination of two sinusoids with periods of $P_3$=8.2 yr and $P_4$=27.0 yr and semi-amplitudes of $K_3$=6.9 s and $K_4$=27.3 s, respectively. The periodic variations most likely arise from a pair of light-time effects due to the presence of third and fourth bodies that are gravit…
The first asteroseismic studies of pre-main sequence (pre-MS) pulsators have been conducted based on data from the space telescopes MOST and CoRoT with typical time bases of less than 40 days. With these data, a relation between the pulsational properties of pre-MS delta Scuti stars and their relative evolutionary phase on their way from the birthline to the zero-age main sequence was revealed. But it is evident from comparison with the more evolved pulsators in their main sequence or post-main sequence stages observed by the main Kepler mission, that many more questions could be addressed wit…
We present photometric spot modeling of the nearly four-year long light-curve of the Kepler target KIC 5955122 in terms of persisting dark circular surface features. With a Bayesian technique, we produced a plausible surface map that shows dozens of small spots. After some artifacts are removed, the residuals are at $\pm 0.16$\,mmag. The shortest rotational period found is $P = 16.4 \pm 0.2$ days. The equator-to-pole extrapolated differential rotation is $0.25 \pm 0.02$ rad/d. The spots are roughly half as bright as the unperturbed stellar photosphere. Spot latitudes are restricted to the zone…
We aim to investigate variations in the arrival time of coherent stellar pulsations due to the light-travel time effect to test for the presence of sub-stellar companions. Those companions are the key to one possible formation scenario of apparently single sub-dwarf B stars. We made use of an extensive set of ground-based observations of the four large amplitude p-mode pulsators DW Lyn, V1636 Ori, QQ Vir, and V541 Hya. Observations of the TESS space telescope are available on two of the targets. The timing method compares the phase of sinusoidal fits to the full multi-epoch light curves with p…
The Blue Large-Amplitude Pulsators (BLAPs) constitute a new class of pulsating stars. They are hot stars with effective temperatures of ~30 000 K and surface gravities of log g ~ 4.9, that pulsate with periods in the range 20-40 min. Until now, their origin and evolutionary state, as well as the nature of their pulsations, were not been unveiled. In this paper, we propose that the BLAPs are the hot counterpart of the already known pulsating pre-Extremely Low Mass (pre-ELM) white dwarf (WD) stars, that are He-core low-mass stars resulting from interacting binary evolution. Using fully evolution…
Pulsating hydrogen-deficient white dwarfs and pre-white dwarfs observed with TESS VI. Asteroseismology of the GW Vir-type central star of the Planetary Nebula NGC 246
We used Johnson UBV photometric CCD observations to identify pulsating and other variable stars in the young open cluster NGC 6231. The multi-color information was used to classify pulsating variables, perform frequency analysis, and - where possible - to compare observed to theoretical amplitude ratios for mode identification. The data reduction was performed with standard IRAF tools. Differential light curves have been obtained by identifying a set of suitable comparison stars and the frequency analysis was then conducted on the basis of Fourier methods. Our classification of pulsating stars…
Asteroseismology is a very useful tool for exploring the stellar interiors and evolutionary status and for determining stellar fundamental parameters, such as stellar mass, radius, surface gravity, and the stellar mean density. In the present work, we use it to preliminarily analyze the 14 new-type pulsating stars: Blue Large-Amplitude Pulsators (BLAPs) which is observed by OGLE project, to roughly analyze their evolutionary status. We adopt the theory of single star evolution and artificially set the mass loss rate of $\dot{M}=-2\times10^{-4}~{\rm M_{\odot}/year}$ and mass loss beginning at t…
Hot subdwarf B stars (sdBs) are evolved, core helium-burning objects located on the extreme horizontal branch. Their formation history is still puzzling as the sdB progenitors must lose nearly all of their hydrogen envelope during the red-giant phase. About half of the known sdBs are in close binaries with periods from 1.2 h to a few days, a fact that implies they experienced a common-envelope phase. Eclipsing hot subdwarf binaries (also called HW Virginis systems) are rare but important objects for determining fundamental stellar parameters. Even more significant and uncommon are those binari…
Massive stars briefly pass through the yellow supergiant (YSG) phase as they evolve redward across the HR diagram and expand into red supergiants (RSGs). Higher-mass stars pass through the YSG phase again as they evolve blueward after experiencing significant RSG mass loss. These post-RSG objects offer us a tantalizing glimpse into which stars end their lives as RSGs, and why. One telltale sign of a post-RSG object may be an instability to pulsations, depending on the star's interior structure. Here we report the discovery of five YSGs with pulsation periods faster than 1 day, found in a sampl…
We report the results of our search for pulsating subdwarf B stars in Full Frame Images collected during Year 2 of the TESS mission and covering the northern ecliptic hemisphere. This is a continuation of our effort we presented in Paper I. We found 13 likely new pulsating subdwarf B stars, 10 pulsating candidates that are identified as other hot subdwarfs, and 30 spectroscopically unclassified objects that show amplitude spectra typical of pulsating subdwarf B stars. We found 506 variable objects, most of them spectroscopically unclassified, hence their specific variability class yet to be co…
Radial velocity measurements, $BVR_C$ photometry, and high-resolution spectroscopy in the wavelength region from blue to near infrared are employed in order to clarify the evolutionary status of the carbon-enhanced metal-poor star HD112869 with unique ratio of carbon isotopes in the atmosphere. An LTE abundance analysis was carried out using the method of spectral synthesis and new self consistent 1D atmospheric models. The radial velocity monitoring confirmed semiregular variations with a peak-to-peak amplitude of about 10 km $s^{-1}$ and a dominating period of about 115 days. The light, colo…
We present the first detection of a rotationally affected series consisting of 36 consecutive high-order sectoral dipole gravity modes in a slowly pulsating B (SPB) star. The results are based on the analysis of four years of virtually uninterrupted photometric data assembled with the Kepler Mission, and high-resolution spectra acquired using the HERMES spectrograph at the 1.2 meter Mercator Telescope. The spectroscopic measurements place KIC7760680 inside the SPB instability strip, near the cool edge. The photometric analysis reveals the longest unambiguous series of gravity modes of the same…
In this paper, we present the observations of two new GW Vir stars from the extended \textit{TESS} mission in both 120\,s short-cadence and 20\,s ultra-short-cadence mode of two pre-white dwarf stars showing hydrogen deficiency. We performed an asteroseismological analysis of these stars on the basis of PG~1159 evolutionary models that take into account the complete evolution of the progenitor stars. We searched for patterns of uniform period spacings in order to constrain the stellar mass of the stars, and employed the individual observed periods to search for a representative seismological m…
Hybrid $δ$ Scuti-$γ$ Doradus pulsating stars show acoustic ($p$) oscillation modes typical of $δ$ Scuti variable stars, and gravity ($g$) pulsation modes characteristic of $γ$ Doradus variable stars simultaneously excited. Observations from space missions like MOST, CoRoT, and \emph{Kepler} have revealed a large number of hybrid $δ$ Scuti-$γ$ Doradus pulsators, thus paving the way for a exciting new channel for asteroseismic studies. We perform a detailed asteroseismological modeling of five hybrid $δ$ Scuti-$γ$ Doradus stars. We employ a grid-based modeling approach to sound the internal stru…
In this paper, we present a detailed asteroseismological analysis of six GW Vir stars including the observations collected by the TESS mission. We processed and analyzed TESS observations of RX J2117+3412, HS 2324+3944, NGC 6905, NGC 1501, NGC 2371, and K 1-16. We carried out a detailed asteroseismological analysis of these stars on the basis of PG 1159 evolutionary models that take into account the complete evolution of the progenitor stars. In total, we extracted 58 periodicities from the TESS light curves using a standard pre-whitening procedure to derive the potential pulsation frequencies…
We present a theoretical assessment of the expected temporal rates of change of periods ($\dotΠ$) for low-mass ($M_{\star}/M_{\sun} \lesssim 0.45$) and extremely low-mass (ELM, $M_{\star}/M_{\sun} \lesssim 0.18-0.20$) white-dwarf stars, based on fully evolutionary low-mass He-core white dwarf and pre-white dwarf models. Our analysis is based on a large set of adiabatic periods of radial and nonradial pulsation modes computed on a suite of low-mass He-core white dwarf and pre-white dwarf models with masses ranging from $0.1554$ to $0.4352 M_{\sun}$. We compute the secular rates of period change…
After the discovery of V391 Peg b, the first planet detected around a post Red Giant phase star (Silvotti et al. 2007), the EXOTIME (EXOplanet search with the TIming MEthod) project is focused on the search for new planets with similar characteristics. The aim of the project is to organize a global observing network to collect as much data as possible for a sample of five subdwarf B (sdB) stars and share them in order to obtain a more precise analysis. These evolved pulsators may have extremely regular oscillation periods. This feature makes these stars suitable to search for planetary compani…
The evolutionary status of 24 post-AGB stars is presented based on Gaia DR3 data. All 24 stars have parallaxes accurate to better than 3 X sigma and have RUWE values less than 1.4. Based on the Gaia DR3 distances the absolute luminosities are derived. For 14 of the stars, the luminosities confirm their post-AGB evolutionary stage. However, V1027 Cyg, which was previously classified as a post-AGB star, is found to have a higher luminosity; thus it may be an evolved, massive, pulsating semi-regular variable star of type G7Ia. For 9 of the stars, the luminosities are lower than 1000 L (sun), indi…
Period-color (PC) relations may be used to study the interaction of the stellar photosphere and the hydrogen ionization front (HIF). RR Lyraes (RRLs) and long period classical Cepheids (P > 10d) have been found to exhibit different PC behavior at minimum and maximum light which can be explained by the HIF-photosphere interaction based on their location on the HR diagram. In this work, we extend the study to include type II Cepheids (T2Cs) with an aim to test the HIF-photosphere interaction theory across a broad spectrum of variable star types. We find W Vir stars and BL Her stars to have simil…
Recent progress in the seismic interpretation of field beta Cep stars has resulted in improvements of the physics in the stellar structure and evolution models of massive stars. Further asteroseismic constraints can be obtained from studying ensembles of stars in a young open cluster, which all have similar age, distance and chemical composition. We present an observational asteroseismology study based on the discovery of numerous multi-periodic and mono-periodic B-stars in the open cluster NGC 884. We describe a thorough investigation of the pulsational properties of all B-type stars in the c…
The Slowly Pulsating B-type (SPB) stars are the upper main-sequence stars on the HR diagram. Their oscillations are high-order, low-degree g-mode and can be used to probe the structure of the radiative zone where is near the outer boundary of the convective core and constrain the chemical mixing in stellar interiors. In SPB stars, the period spacing periodically varies with periods. It has regarded as a signature of the chemical composition gradient beyond the convective core. Based on theoretical calculations, we find that the variation frequency of the period spacings ($f_{ΔP}$) is related t…
The Blue Large-Amplitude Pulsators (BLAPs) constitute a new class of pulsating stars. They are hot stars with effective temperatures of $T_{\rm eff}\sim 30\,000$ K and surface gravities of $\log g \sim 4.9$, that pulsate with periods in the range $\sim 20-40$ min. In Romero et al. (2018), we proposed that BLAPs are hot low-mass He-core pre-white dwarf (WD) stars that pulsate either in high-order non-radial $g$(gravity) modes or low-order radial modes, including the fundamental radial mode. The theoretical modes with periods in the observed range are unstable due to the $κ$ mechanism associated…
The present paper focuses on the eclipsing binary KIC 8553788 which belongs to two different types of binary systems regarding its physical properties. In particular, it is one of the 71 oscillating stars of Algol type that have been discovered so far and one of the six that have been published based on high cadence data of the Kepler mission. In addition, it is one of the four semi-detached binaries of the group of R CMa type systems, while its pulsating component has the fourth fastest frequency among the delta Scuti stars-members of semi-detached binaries. Detailed light curves, spectroscop…
The GW Vir instability strip in the light of new observations of PG 1159 stars. Discovery of pulsations in the central star of Abell 72 and variability of RX J0122.9-7521
The determination of fundamental parameters of stars is one of the main tasks of astrophysics. For magnetic chemically peculiar stars, this problem is complicated by the anomalous chemical composition of their atmospheres, which requires special analysis methods. We present the results of the effective temperature, surface gravity, abundance and radius determinations for three CP stars HD 188041, HD 111133, and HD 204411. Our analysis is based on a self-consistent model fitting of high-resolution spectra and spectrophrotometric observations over a wide wavelength range, taking into account the…
High speed photometric observations of the spectroscopically-discovered PG 1159 star SDSS J034917.41-005917.9 in 2007 and 2009 reveal a suite of pulsation frequencies in the range of 1038 - 3323 microHz with amplitudes between 3.5 and 18.6 mmag. SDSS J034917.41-005917.9 is therefore a member of the GW Vir class of pulsating pre-white dwarfs. We have identified 10 independent pulsation frequencies that can be fitted by an asymptotic model with a constant period spacing of 23.61 +/- 0.21 s, presumably associated with a sequence of l = 1 modes. The highest amplitude peak in the suite of frequenci…
Based on the high resolution spectral monitoring conducted at the 6-m BTA telescope, we study the optical spectrum of the high-latitude variable V534 Lyr. Heliocentric radial velocities Vr corresponding to the positions of all metal absorption components, as well as the NaI D and H$α$ lines were measured during all the observational dates. The analysis of the velocity field examining the lines of various nature revealed a low-amplitude variability of Vr based on the lines with a high excitation potential, which are formed in deep layers of the stellar atmosphere, and allowed to estimate the sy…
The studies of semiregular variables of stars by different authors are considered, and the main theoretical and observational problems associated with these stars are reviewed. Their evolutionary status and possible connection with long-period variables such as Mira Ceti are discussed. Individual objects belonging to different types of semiregular variables are described in detail. After leaving the main sequence, the stars pass through the region of instability of Cepheids, turning into radially pulsating variables of type δCephei. These stars can be associated with semiregular variables gian…

Evolutionary calculations of population I stars with initial masses $M_0=1M_\odot$, $1.5M_\odot$ and $2M_\odot$ were carried out up to the stage of the proto--planetary nebula. Selected models of post--AGB evolutionary sequences with effective temperatures $3.6\times 10^3\,\mathrm{K}\lesssim T_\mathrm{eff}\lesssim 2\times 10^4\,\mathrm{K}$ were used as initial conditions in calculations of self--escited stellar oscillations. For the first time the sequences of hydrodynamic models of radially pulsating post--AGB stars were computed using the self--consistent solution of the equations of radiati…
We present preliminary results obtained from analysis of the VI photometry of the globular cluster M79. Stellar variability survey performed with the image subtraction method yielded six new pulsating stars: two of RR Lyrae type, three SX Phoenicis stars and even one W Virginis star. Using all eleven RR Lyrae stars known in the cluster we find that M79 is Oosterhoff type II globular cluster.
In 2007, a companion with planetary mass was found around the pulsating subdwarf B star V391 Pegasi with the timing method, indicating that a previously undiscovered population of substellar companions to apparently single subdwarf B stars might exist. Following this serendipitous discovery, the EXOTIME (http://www.na.astro.it/~silvotti/exotime/) monitoring program has been set up to follow the pulsations of a number of selected rapidly pulsating subdwarf B stars on time-scales of several years with two immediate observational goals: 1) determine Pdot of the pulsational periods P 2) search for…
$ω$ Centauri (NGC 5139) hosts hundreds of pulsating variable stars of different types, thus representing a treasure trove for studies of their corresponding period-luminosity (PL) relations. Our goal in this study is to obtain the PL relations for RR Lyrae, and SX Phoenicis stars in the field of the cluster, based on high-quality, well-sampled light curves in the near-infrared (IR). $ω$ Centauri was observed using VIRCAM mounted on VISTA. A total of 42 epochs in $J$ and 100 epochs in $K_{\rm S}$ were obtained, spanning 352 days. Point-spread function photometry was performed using DoPhot and D…
Photometric analysis of photometric variability of the semi-regular pulsating variable U Del is analyzed. From the international AFOEV database, 6231 brightness values in the time interval JD 2451602-55378 were chosen. For the periodogram analysis, we have used a trigonometric polynomial fit. Using the criterion of minimal variance of the approximation at arguments of observations, the optimal degree is s=1. Initial epoch for maximum is T0=JD2453340(3), the period P=1198(4)d. Mean brightness at maximum is 6.624(5), at minimum 7.124(5), i.e. the amplitude is 0.499(5)m. Besides this slow variabi…
We present the results of a study of the type II Cepheid ($P_{puls} = 4.974 d$) in the eclipsing binary system OGLE-LMC-T2CEP-098 ($P_{orb} = 397.2 d$). The Cepheid belongs to the peculiar W Vir group, for which the evolutionary status is virtually unknown. It is the first single-lined system with a pulsating component analyzed using the method developed by Pilecki et al. (2013). We show that the presence of a pulsator makes it possible to derive accurate physical parameters of the stars even if radial velocities can be measured for only one of the components. We have used four different metho…
We present a collection of classical, type II, and anomalous Cepheids detected in the OGLE fields toward the Galactic center. The sample contains 87 classical Cepheids pulsating in one, two or three radial modes, 924 type II Cepheids divided into BL Her, W Vir, peculiar W Vir, and RV Tau stars, and 20 anomalous Cepheids - first such objects found in the Galactic bulge. Additionally, we upgrade the OGLE Collection of RR Lyr stars in the Galactic bulge by adding 828 newly identified variables. For all Cepheids and RR Lyr stars, we publish time-series VI photometry obtained during the OGLE-IV pro…
The eighth part of the OGLE-III Catalog of Variable Stars (OIII-CVS) contains type II Cepheids in the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC). The sample consists of 43 objects, including 17 BL Her, 17 W Vir and 9 RV Tau stars (first examples ever found in the SMC). Seven stars have been classified as peculiar W Vir stars - a recently identified subclass of type II Cepheids. These stars have distinctive light curves, are brighter and bluer than the ordinary W Vir variables. We confirm that a large fraction of the peculiar W Vir stars are members of binary systems. Three type II Cepheids exhibit eclipsing…
We report the discovery of an eclipsing binary -- PTF1 J072456$+$125301-- composed of a subdwarf B (sdB) star ($g'=17.2^m$) with a faint companion. Subdwarf B stars are core helium-burning stars, which can be found on the extreme horizontal branch. About half of them reside in close binary systems, but few are known to be eclipsing, for which fundamental stellar parameters can be derived.\newline We conducted an analysis of photometric data and spectra from the Palomar 60'' and the 200" Hale telescope respectively. A quantitative spectral analysis found an effective temperature of $T_{\text{ef…
Hot subluminous stars of spectral type B and O are core helium-burning stars at the blue end of the horizontal branch or have evolved even beyond that stage. Strikingly, the distribution in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram of He-rich vs. He-poor hot subdwarf stars of the globular clusters omega Cen and NGC~2808 differ from that of their field counterparts. The metal-abundance patterns of hot subdwarfs are typically characterized by strong deficiencies of some lighter elements as well as large enrichments of heavy elements. A large fraction of sdB stars are found in close binaries with white dwa…
We present the analysis of a peculiar W~Virginis (pWVir) type-II Cepheid, OGLE-LMC-T2CEP-211 ($P_{puls}=9.393\,d$), in a double-lined binary system ($P_{orb}=242\,d$), which shed light on virtually unknown evolutionary status and structure of pWVir stars. The dynamical mass of the Cepheid (first ever for a type-II Cepheid) is $0.64\pm{}0.02\,M_\odot$ and the radius $R=25.1\pm{}0.3\,R_\odot$. The companion is a massive ($5.67\,M_\odot$) main-sequence star obscured by a disk. Such configuration suggests a mass transfer in the system history. We found that originally the system ($P_{orb}^{init}=1…
We report the results of our search for pulsating subdwarf B stars in Full Frame Images, sampled at 30 min cadence and collected during Year 1 of the TESS mission. Year 1 covers most of the southern ecliptic hemisphere. The sample of objects we checked for pulsations was selected from a subdwarf B stars database available to public. Only two positive detections have been achieved, however, as a by-product of our search we found 1807 variable objects, most of them not classified, hence their specific variability class cannot be confirmed at this stage. Our preliminary discoveries include: two n…
The VISTA Variables in the Via Lactea (VVV) survey obtained near-infrared photometry toward the Galactic bulge and the southern disc plane for a decade (2010 - 2019). We designed a modified Lomb-Scargle method to search for large-amplitude ($Δ$Ks > 1.5 mag) mid to long-term periodic variables (P > 10 d) in the 2nd version of VVV Infrared Astrometric Catalogue (VIRAC2-$β$). In total, 1520 periodic sources were discovered, including 59 candidate periodic outbursting young stellar objects (YSOs), based on the unique morphology of the phase-folded light curves, proximity to Galactic HII regions an…
