Let -Delta+V be the Schrodinger operator acting on L^2(R^d,C) with d odd larger than 2. Here V is a bounded real- or complex-valued function vanishing outside the closed ball of center 0 and radius a. If V belongs to the class of potentials introduced by Christiansen, we show that when r goes to infinity, the resonances of -Delta+V, scaled down by the factor r, are asymptotically distributed, with respect to an explicit probability distribution on the closed lower unit half-disc of the complex plane. The rate of convergence is also considered for subclasses of potentials.
We establish semiclassical resolvent estimates for Schrödinger operators with long-range matrix-valued potentials. As an application we prove resonance free domains both in trapping and non-trapping situations. Our results generalize the well-known results of \cite{Burq1, Martinez1} in the case of scalar Schrödinger operators.
We prove the absence of positive real resonances for Schrödinger operators with finitely many point interactions in $\mathbb{R}^3$ and we discuss such a property from the perspective of dispersive and scattering features of the associated Schrödinger propagator.
In this paper we consider a resonance problem, in a generic regime, in the consideration of relaxation of ground states of semilinear Schrodinger equations. Different from previous results, our consideration includes the presence of resonance, resulted by overlaps of frequencies of different states. All the known key results, proved under non-resonance conditions, have been recovered uniformly. These are achieved by better understandings of normal form transformation and Fermi Golden rule. Especially, we find that if certain denominators are zeros (or small), resulted by the presence of resona…
We consider a $2\times 2$ system of 1D semiclassical differential operators with two Schrödinger operators in the diagonal part and small interactions of order $h^ν$ in the off-diagonal part, where $h$ is a semiclassical parameter and $ν$ is a constant larger than $1/2$. We study the absence of resonance near a non-trapping energy for both Schrödinger operators in the presence of crossings of their potentials. The width of resonances is estimated from below by $Mh\log(1/h)$ and the coefficient $M$ is given in terms of the directed cycles of the generalized bicharacteristics induced by two Hami…
In this paper, we define time-independent modifiers to construct a long-range scattering theory for discrete schrödinger operators on the square lattice $\mathbb{Z}^N$. We prove the existence and completeness of modified wave operators in terms of the above mentioned time-independent modifiers.
In this paper we prove propagation estimates for two-cluster scattering channels of N-body Schrödinger operators. These estimates are based on the estimate similar to Mourre's commutator estimate and the method of Skibsted. We also obtain propagation estimates with better indices using projections onto almost invariant subspaces close to two-cluster scattering channels. As an application of these estimates we obtain the resolvent estimate for two-cluster scattering channels and microlocal propagation estimates in three-body problems without projections. Our method clearly illustrates evolution…
We show that the scattering matrix for a class of Schrödinger-type operators with long-range perturbations is a Fourier integral operator with the phase function which is the generating function of the modified classical scattering map.
The inverse scattering problem of the reconstruction of the unknown potential with compact support in the 3-d Schrödinger equation is considered. Only the modulus of the scattering complex valued wave field is known, whereas the phase is unknown. It is shown that the unknown potential can be reconstructed via the inverse Radon transform. Therefore, a long standing problem posed in 1977 by K. Chadan and P.C. Sabatier in their book "Inverse Problems in Quantum Scattering Theory" is solved.
In this work we study the inverse scattering problem for the selfadjoint matrix Schrodinger operator on the half line. We provide the necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the inverse scattering problem.
We study multistate Schrödinger operators related to molecular dynamics. We consider potentials which do not necessarily decay and prove absence of the singular continuous spectrum and propagation estimates which mean the scattering at speed larger than a positive constant and decay of the state with potentials higher than considered energy at infinity. We also consider the multistate Schrödinger operators with many-body structures. We obtain the Mourre estimate and the minimal velocity estimate for the many-body operators. The lower bound of the velocity is determined by the distance between …
This paper is about the scattering theory for one-dimensional matrix Schrödinger operators with a matrix potential having a finite first moment. The transmission coefficients are analytically continued and extended to the band edges. An explicit expression is given for these extensions. The limits of the reflection coefficients at the band edges is also calculated.
Explicit formulas for the analytic extensions of the scattering matrix and the time delay of a quasi-one-dimensional discrete Schrödinger operator with a potential of finite support are derived. This includes a careful analysis of the band edge singularities and allows to prove a Levinson-type theorem. The main algebraic tool are the plane wave transfer matrices.
We consider scattering matrix for Schrödinger-type operators on $\mathbb{R}^d$ with perturbation $V(x)=O(\langle x\rangle^{-1})$ as $|x|\to\infty$. We show that the scattering matrix (with time-independent modifiers) is a pseudodifferential operator, and analyze its spectrum. We present examples of which the spectrum of the scattering matrices have dense point spectrum, and absolutely continuous spectrum, respectively.
We consider $N$-body Schrödinger operators with a virtual level at the threshold of the essential spectrum. We show that in the case of $N\geq 3$ particles in dimension $n\geq3$ virtual levels correspond to eigenvalues of the system and we obtain decay rates of the corresponding eigenfunctions in dependence on the dimension and the number of particles. We prove that in dimension $n\geq 3$ the Hamiltonian of $N\geq 4$ particles interacting via short-range potentials admits only a finite number of negative eigenvalues. We extend our results to dimension $n=1$ and $n=2$ in case of $N\geq 4$ fermi…
We prove a fixed frequency inverse scattering result for the magnetic Schrödinger operator (or connection Laplacian) on surfaces with Euclidean ends. We show that, under suitable decaying conditions, the scattering matrix for the operator determines both the gauge class of the connection and the zeroth order potential.
We study the large-time behavior of the solutions to the Schrödinger equation associated with a quickly decaying potential in dimension three. We establish the resolvent expansions at threshold zero and near positive resonances. The large-time expansions of solutions are obtained under different conditions, including the existence of positive resonances and zero resonance or/and zero eigenvalue.
This paper is devoted to study the time decay estimates for bi-Schrödinger operators $H=Δ^{2}+V(x)$ in dimension one with decaying potentials $V(x)$. We first deduce the asymptotic expansions of resolvent of $H$ at zero energy threshold without/with the presence of resonances, and then characterize these resonance spaces corresponding to different types of zero resonance in suitable weighted spaces $L_s^2({\mathbf{R}})$. Next we use them to establish the sharp $L^1-L^\infty$ decay estimates of Schrödinger groups $e^{-itH}$ generated by bi-Schrödinger operators also with zero resonances. As a c…
We study the direct and inverse scattering problem for the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with steplike potentials. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the scattering data to correspond to a potential with prescribed smoothness and prescribed decay to their asymptotics. These results are important for solving the Korteweg-de Vries equation via the inverse scattering transform.
We prove that the low energy parts of the wave operators $W_\pm$ for Schrödinger operators $H = -\lap + V(x)$ on $\R^4$ are bounded in $ L^p(\R^4)$ for $1<p\leq 2$ and are unbounded for $2<p\leq \infty$ if $H$ has resonances at the threshold. If $H$ has eigenfunctions only at the threshold, it has recently been proved that they are bounded in $L^p(\R^4)$ for $1\leq p<4$ in general and for $1\leq p<\infty$ if all threshold eigenfunctions $\ph$ satisfy $\int_{\R^4}x_j V(x) \ph(x)dx=0$ for $1\leq j\leq 4$. We prove in this case that they are unbounded in $L^p(\R^4)$ for $4<p<\infty$ unless the la…
We give a complete characterisation of the reflectionless Schrödinger operators on the line with integrable potentials, solve the inverse scattering problem of reconstructing such potentials from the eigenvalues and norming constants, and derive the corresponding generalized soliton solutions of the Korteweg--de Vries equation
In this paper we consider Schröodinger operators with potentials of order zero on asymptotically conic manifolds. We prove the existence and the completeness of the wave operators with a naturally defined free Hamiltonian.
We consider a long-range scattering theory for discrete Schrödinger operators on the hexagonal lattice, which describe tight-binding Hamiltonians on the graphene sheet. We construct Isozaki-Kitada modifiers for a pair of the difference Laplacian on the hexagonal lattice and perturbed operators with long-range potentials. We prove that these modified wave operators exist and that they are asymptotically complete.
In this paper, we study the time-independent Schrödinger equation within the formalism of position dependent effective mass. For a generalized decomposition of the non-central effective potential, the deformed Schrödinger equation can be easily solved analytically through separation of variables. The energy eigenvalues and the normalization constant of the radial wave functions are obtained, as well as the scattering phase shifts.
We find the high energy asymptotics for the singular Weyl--Titchmarsh m-functions and the associated spectral measures of perturbed spherical Schrödinger operators (also known as Bessel operators). We apply this result to establish an improved local Borg-Marchenko theorem for Bessel operators as well as uniqueness theorems for the radial quantum scattering problem with nontrivial angular momentum.
We establish the local wellposedness of different type of solutions the system with different types of initial data. We find there exists a critical exponents line in space dimension 3 and critical exponents point in space dimension 4. We also establish different scattering theories for the global solutions.
Stationary scattering problem (when the distance $r$ tends to infinity) and dynamical scattering problem (when the time $t$ tends to infinity) are considered for the 3D Schrödinger equation. A simple interconnection between the scattering amplitude (stationary case) and scattering operator (dynamical case) is given in the paper. This result is a quantum mechanical analog of the ergodic formulas in the classical mechanics.
We show that for a one-dimensional Schrödinger operator with a potential whose (j+1)'th moment is integrable the j'th derivative of the scattering matrix is in the Wiener algebra of functions with integrable Fourier transforms. We use this result to improve the known dispersive estimates with integrable time decay for the one-dimensional Schrödinger equation in the resonant case.
