The object of this paper is to study $η$-Ricci solitons on $(\varepsilon)$-almost paracontact metric manifolds. We investigate $η$-Ricci solitons in the case when its potential vector field is exactly the characteristic vector field $ξ$ of the $(\varepsilon)$-almost paracontact metric manifold and when the potential vector field is torse-forming. We also study Einstein-like and $(\varepsilon)$-para Sasakian manifolds admitting $η$-Ricci solitons. Finally we obtain some results for $η$-Ricci solitons on $(\varepsilon)$-almost paracontact metric manifolds with a special view towards parallel symmetric (0,2)-tensor fields.
We completely describe paracontact metric three-manifolds whose Reeb vector field satisfies the Ricci soliton equation. While contact Riemannian (or Lorentz\-ian) Ricci solitons are necessarily trivial, that is, $K$-contact and Einstein, the paracontact metric case allows nontrivial examples. Both homogeneous and inhomogeneous nontrivial three-dimensional examples are explicitly described. Finally, we correct the main result of [AGAG-D-13-00189], concerning three-dimensional normal paracontact Ricci solitons.
We introduce and study $H$-paracontact metric manifolds, that is, paracontact metric manifolds whose Reeb vector field $ξ$ is harmonic. We prove that they are characterized by the condition that $ξ$ is a Ricci eigenvector. We then investigate how harmonicity of the Reeb vector field $ξ$ of a paracontact metric manifold is related to some other relevant geometric properties, like infinitesimal harmonic transformations and paracontact Ricci solitons.
The purpose of this paper is to classify paracontact metric $3$-manifolds $M^3$ such that the Ricci operator $S$ commutes with the endomorhism $ϕ$ of its tangent bundle $Γ(TM^3)$.
In this paper, we define almost paracontact and normal almost paracontact Finsler structures on a vector bundle and find some conditions for integrability of these structures. We define paracontact metric, para- Sasakian and K-paracontact Finsler structures and study some properties of these structures. For a K-paracontact Finsler structure, we find the vertical and horizontal flag curvatures. Then, we define vertical ?-flag curvature and prove that every locally symmetric para-Sasakian Finsler structure has negative vertical ?-flag curvature. Finally, we define the horizontal and vertical Ric…
In this paper we introduce the concept of $(\varepsilon)$-almost paracontact manifolds, and in particular, of $(\varepsilon)$-para Sasakian manifolds. Several examples are presented. Some typical identities for curvature tensor and Ricci tensor of $(\varepsilon)$-para Sasakian manifolds are obtained. We prove that if a semi-Riemannian manifold is one of flat, proper recurrent or proper Ricci-recurrent, then it can not admit an $(\varepsilon)$-para Sasakian structure. We show that, for an $(\varepsilon)$-para Sasakian manifold, the conditions of being symmetric, semi-symmetric or of constant se…
In this paper we study a special type of metric called *-Ricci soliton on para-Sasakian manifold. We prove that if the para-Sasakian metric is a *-Ricci soliton on a manifold M, then M is either D-homothetic to an Einstein manifold, or the Ricci tensor of M with respect to the canonical paracontact connection vanishes.
The purpose of the paper is to study Yamabe solitons on three-dimensional para-Sasakian, paracosymplectic and para-Kenmotsu manifolds. Mainly, we proved that *If the semi-Riemannian metric of a three-dimensional para-Sasakian manifold is a Yamabe soliton, then it is of constant scalar curvature, and the flow vector field V is Killing. In the next step, we proved that either manifold has constant curvature -1 and reduces to an Einstein manifold, or V is an infinitesimal automorphism of the paracontact metric structure on the manifold. *If the semi-Riemannian metric of a three-dimensional paraco…
Object of study are para-Ricci-like solitons on para-Sasaki-like almost paracontact almost paracomplex Riemannian manifolds, briefly, Riemannian $Π$-manifolds. Different cases when the potential of the soliton is the Reeb vector field or pointwise collinear to it are considered. Some additional geometric properties of the constructed objects are proven. Results for a parallel symmetric second-order covariant tensor on the considered manifolds are obtained. Explicit example of dimension 5 in support of the given assertions is provided.
Ge-Jiang (Geom Funct Anal 27:1231-1256, 2017) proved global $\varepsilon$-regularity for 4-dimensional Ricci flow with bounded scalar curvature. In this note, we extend this result to 4-dimensional Ricci flow with integral bound on the scalar curvature.
For $n$-dimensional weighted Riemannian manifolds, lower $m$-Bakry-Émery-Ricci curvature bounds with $\varepsilon$-range, introduced by Lu-Minguzzi-Ohta, integrate constant lower bounds and certain variable lower bounds in terms of weight functions. In this paper, we prove a Cheng type inequality and a local Sobolev inequality under lower $m$-Bakry-Émery-Ricci curvature bounds with $\varepsilon$-range. These generalize those inequalities under constant curvature bounds for $m \in (n,\infty)$ to $m\in(-\infty,1]\cup\{\infty\}$.
We study comparison geometry of manifolds with boundary under a lower $N$-weighted Ricci curvature bound for $N\in ]-\infty,1]\cup [n,+\infty]$ with $\varepsilon$-range introduced by Lu-Minguzzi-Ohta. We will conclude splitting theorems, and also comparison geometric results for inscribed radius, volume around the boundary, and smallest Dirichlet eigenvalue of the weighted $p$-Laplacian. Our results interpolate those for $N\in [n,+\infty[$ and $\varepsilon=1$, and for $N\in ]-\infty,1]$ and $\varepsilon=0$ by the second named author.
Lu-Minguzzi-Ohta have introduced the notion of a lower $N$-weighted Ricci curvature bound with $\varepsilon$-range, and derived several comparison geometric estimates from a Laplacian comparison theorem for weighted Laplacian. The aim of this paper is to investigate various rigidity phenomena for the equality case of their comparison geometric results. We will obtain rigidity results concerning the Laplacian comparison theorem, diameter comparisons, and volume comparisons. We also generalize their works for non-symmetric Laplacian induced from vector field potential.
The behavior of harmonic functions on Riemannian manifolds under lower bounds of the Ricci curvature has been studied from both analytic and geometric viewpoints. For example, some Liouville type theorems are obtained under lower bounds of the Ricci curvature. Recently, those results are generalized under lower bounds of the $N$-weighted Ricci curvature $\mbox{Ric}_ψ^N$ with $N \in [n,\infty]$. In this paper, we present a Liouville type theorem for harmonic functions of sublinear growth and a gradient estimate of harmonic functions on weighted Riemannian manifolds under weaker lower bounds of …
Einstein like $(\varepsilon)$-para Sasakian manifolds are introduced. For an $(\varepsilon) $-para Sasakian manifold to be Einstein like, a necessary and sufficient condition in terms of its curvature tensor is obtained. The scalar curvature of an Einstein like $(\varepsilon) $-para Sasakian manifold is obtained and it is shown that the scalar curvature in this case must satisfy certain differential equation. A necessary and sufficient condition for an $(\varepsilon) $-almost paracontact metric hypersurface of an indefinite locally Riemannian product manifold to be $(\varepsilon) $-para Sasaki…
In this article we prove a differentiable rigidity result. Let $(Y, g)$ and $(X, g_0)$ be two closed $n$-dimensional Riemannian manifolds ($n\geqslant 3$) and $f:Y\to X$ be a continuous map of degree $1$. We furthermore assume that the metric $g_0$ is real hyperbolic and denote by $d$ the diameter of $(X,g_0)$. We show that there exists a number $\varepsilon:=\varepsilon (n, d)>0$ such that if the Ricci curvature of the metric $g$ is bounded below by $-n(n-1)$ and its volume satisfies $\vol_g (Y)\leqslant (1+\varepsilon) \vol_{g_0} (X)$ then the manifolds are diffeomorphic. The proof relies on…
In this paper we study the 3-dimensional $(\varepsilon) $-para Sasakian manifolds. We obtain an necessary and sufficient condition for an $(\varepsilon ) $-para Sasakian 3 -manifold to be an indefinite space form. We show that a Ricci-semi-symmetric $(\varepsilon) $-para Sasakian 3 -manifold is an indefinite space form. We investigate the necessary and sufficient condition for an $(\varepsilon) $-para Sasakian 3 -manifold to be locally $φ$-symmetric. It is proved that in an $ (\varepsilon) $-para Sasakian 3-manifold with $η$ -parallel Ricci tensor the scalar curvature is constant. It is also s…
In the present article, we provide a characterization of a lower $N$-weighted Ricci curvature bound for $N \in ]-\infty,1]\cup[n,+\infty]$ with $\varepsilon$-range introduced by Lu-Minguzzi-Ohta in terms of a convexity of entropies over Wasserstein space. We further derive various interpolation inequalities and functional inequalities.
We employ the Ricci flow to derive a new theorem about Gromov almost flat manifolds, which generalizes and strengthens the celebrated Gromov--Ruh Theorem. In our theorem, the condition $diam^2 |K| \leq ε_n$ in the Gromov--Ruh Theorem is replaced by the substantially weaker condition $\|Rm\|_{n/2}$ $ C_S^2 \leq \varepsilon_n$.
A closed four dimensional manifold cannot possess a non-flat Ricci soliton metric with arbitrarily small $L^2$-norm of the curvature. In this paper, we localize this fact in the case of shrinking Ricci solitons by proving an $\varepsilon$-regularity theorem, thus confirming a conjecture of Cheeger-Tian. As applications, we will also derive structural results concerning the degeneration of the metrics on a family of complete non-compact four dimensional shrinking Ricci solitons without a uniform entropy lower bound. In the appendix, we provide a detailed account of the equivariant good chopping…
In this article, we extend the compactness theorems proved by Sprouse and Hwang-Lee to a weighted manifold under the assumption that the weighted Ricci curvature is bounded below in terms of its weight function. With the help of the $\varepsilon$-range, we treat the case that the effective dimension is at most $1$ in addition to the case that the effective dimension is at least the dimension of the manifold. To show these theorems, we extend the segment inequality of Cheeger-Colding to a weighted manifold.
The purpose of the present paper is to study the globally and locally $φ$-${\cal T}$-symmetric $\left( \varepsilon \right) $-para Sasakian manifold in dimension $3$. The globally $φ$-$ {\cal T}$-symmetric $3$-dimensional $\left( \varepsilon \right) $-para Sasakian manifold is either Einstein manifold or has a constant scalar curvature. The necessary and sufficient condition for Einstein manifold to be globally $φ$-${\cal T}$ -symmetric is given. A $3$-dimensional $% \left( \varepsilon \right) $ -para Sasakian manifold is locally $φ$-$ {\cal T}$-symmetric if and only if the scalar curvature $r$…
Bray's football theorem (\cite{bray2009penrose}) is a weakening of Bishop theorem in dimension 3. It gives a sharp volume upper bound for a three dimensional manifold with scalar curvature larger than $n(n-1)$ and Ricci curvature larger than $\varepsilon$. This paper extends Bray's football theorem in high dimensions, assuming the manifold is axis symmetric or the Ricci curvature has an upper bound.
In this paper, a systematic study of Kenmotsu pseudo-metric manifolds are introduced. After studying the properties of this manifolds, we provide necessary and sufficient condition for Kenmotsu pseudo-metric manifold to have constant $φ$-sectional curvature, and prove the structure theorem for $ξ$-conformally flat and $φ$-conformally flat Kenmotsu pseudo-metric manifolds. Next, we consider Ricci solitons on this manifolds. In particular, we prove that an $η$-Einstein Kenmotsu pseudo-metric manifold of dimension higher than 3 admitting a Ricci soliton is Einstein, and a Kenmotsu pseudo-metric 3…
In this paper we find necessary and sufficient conditions for a nondegenerate arbitrary signature manifold $M^n$ to be realized as a submanifold in the large class of warped product manifolds $\varepsilon I\times_a\mathbb{M}^{N}_λ(c)$, where $\varepsilon=\pm 1,\ a:I\subset\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}^+$ is the scale factor and $\mathbb{M}^{N}_λ(c)$ is the $N$-dimensional semi-Riemannian space form of index $λ$ and constant curvature $c\in\{-1,1\}.$ We prove that if $M^n$ satisfies Gauss, Codazzi and Ricci equations for a submanifold in $\varepsilon I\times_a\mathbb{M}^{N}_λ(c)$, along with some add…
In this paper we investigate the existence of a solution to the Poisson equation on complete manifolds with positive spectrum and Ricci curvature bounded from below. We show that if a function $f$ has decay $f=O(r^{-1-\varepsilon}) $ for some $\varepsilon >0,$ where $r$ is the distance function to a fixed point, then the Poisson equation $Δu=f$ has a solution $u$ with at most exponential growth. We apply this result on the Poisson equation to study the existence of harmonic maps between complete manifolds and also existence of Hermitian Einstein metrics on holomorphic vector bundles over compl…
Together with spaces of constant sectional curvature and products of a real line with a manifold of constant curvature, the socalled Egorov spaces and $\varepsilon$-spaces exhaust the class of $n$-dimensional Lorentzian manifolds admitting a group of isometries of dimension at least ${1/2} n(n-1)+1$, for almost all values of $n$ [Patrangenaru V., Geom. Dedicata 102 (2003), 25-33]. We shall prove that the curvature tensor of these spaces satisfy several interesting algebraic properties. In particular, we will show that Egorov spaces are Ivanov-Petrova manifolds, curvature-Ricci commuting (indee…
This paper divides into two parts. Let $(X,ω)$ be a compact Hermitian manifold. Firstly, if the Hermitian metric $ω$ satisfies the assumption that $\partial\overline{\partial}ω^k=0$ for all $k$, we generalize the volume of the cohomology class in the Kähler setting to the Hermitian setting, and prove that the volume is always finite and the Grauert-Riemenschneider type criterion holds true, which is a partial answer to a conjecture posed by Boucksom. Secondly, we observe that if the anticanonical bundle $K^{-1}_X$ is nef, then for any $\varepsilon>0$, there is a smooth function $ϕ_\varepsilon$…
We introduce the notion of $\varepsilonη\,$-Einstein $\varepsilon\,$-contact metric three-manifold, which includes as particular cases $η\,$-Einstein Riemannian and Lorentzian (para) contact metric three-manifolds, but which in addition allows for the Reeb vector field to be null. We prove that the product of an $\varepsilonη\,$-Einstein Lorentzian $\varepsilon\,$-contact metric three-manifold with an $\varepsilonη\,$-Einstein Riemannian contact metric three-manifold carries a bi-parametric family of Ricci-flat Lorentzian metric-compatible connections with isotropic, totally skew-symmetric, cl…
