The formal study of completely prime modules was initiated by N. J. Groenewald and the current author in the paper; Completely prime submodules, {\it Int. Elect. J. Algebra}, {\bf 13}, (2013), 1--14. In this paper, the study of completely prime modules is continued. Firstly, the advantage completely prime modules have over prime modules is highlited and different situations that lead to completely prime modules given. Later, emphasis is put on fully completely prime modules, (i.e., modules whose all submodules are completely prime). For a fully completely prime left $R$-module $M$, if $a, b\in R$ and $m\in M$, then $abm=bam$, $am=a^km$ for all positive integers $k$, and either $am=abm$ or
$bm=abm$. In the last section, two different torsion theories induced by the completely prime radical are given.
With the notion of prime submodule defined by F. Raggi et.al. we prove that the intersection of all prime submodules of a Goldie module $M$, is a nilpotent submodule provided that $M$ is retractable and $M^{(Λ)}$-projective for every index set $Λ$. This extends the well known fact that in a left Goldie ring, the prime radical is nilpotent.
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with $1$ and $n$ a natural number. We say that a submodule $N$ of $R^n$ is semiprime if for every $f=(f_1,\ldots,f_n) \in R^n$ such that $f_i f \in N$ for $i=1,\ldots,n$ we have $f \in N$. Our main result is that every semiprime submodule of $R^n$ is equal to the intersection of all prime submodules containing it. It follows that every semiprime left ideal of $M_n(R)$ is equal to the intersection of all prime left ideals that contain it. For $R=k[x_1,\ldots,x_d]$ where $k$ is an algebraically closed field we can rephrase this result as a Nullstellensatz for $M_n(R…
Commutative rings in which every prime ideal is the intersection of maximal ideals are called Hilbert (or Jacobson) rings. We propose to define classical Hilbert modules by the property that {\it classical prime} submodules are the intersection of maximal submodules. It is shown that all co-semisimple modules as well as all Artinian modules are classical Hilbert modules. Also, every module over a zero-dimensional ring is classical Hilbert. Results illustrating connections amongst the notions of classical Hilbert module and Hilbert ring are also provided. Rings $R$ over which all $R$-modules ar…
Let M be a fixed left R-module. For a left R-module X, we introduce the notion of M-prime (resp. M-semiprime) submodule of X such that in the case M=R, which coincides with prime (resp. semiprime) submodule of X. Other concepts encountered in the general theory are M-m-system sets, M-n-system sets, M-prime radical and M-Baer's lower nilradical of modules. Relationships between these concepts and basic properties are established. In particular, we identify certain submodules of M, called "prime M-ideals", that play a role analogous to that of prime (two-sided) ideals in the ring R. Using this d…
In this article, we introduce the concepts of graded $s$-prime submodules which is a generalization of graded prime submodules. We study the behavior of this notion with respect to graded homomorphisms, localization of graded modules, direct product, and idealization. We succeeded to prove the existence of graded $s$-prime submodules in the case of graded-Noetherian modules. Also, we provide some sufficient conditions for the existence of such objects in the general case, as well as, in the particular case of grading by $\mathbb{Z}$, a finite group, or a polycyclic-by-finite group, in addition…
Throughout this paper, $R$ is an associative ring (not necessarily commutative) with identity and $M$ is a right $R$-module with unitary. In this paper, we introduce a new concept of $ϕ$-prime submodule over an associative ring with identity. Thus we define the concept as following: Assume that $S(M)$ is the set of all submodules of $M$ and $ϕ:S(M)\rightarrow S(M)\cup\{\emptyset\}$ is a function. For every $Y\in S(M)$ and ideal $I$ of $R,$ a proper submodule $X$ of $M$ is called $ϕ$-prime, if $YI\subseteq X$ and $YI\nsubseteqϕ(X),$ then $Y\subseteq X$ or $I\subseteq(X:_{R}M)$. Then we examine …
Using the concepts of prime module, semiprime module and the concept of ascending chain condition (ACC) on annihilators for an $R$-module $M$ . We prove that if \ $M$ is semiprime \ and projective in $σ\left[ M\right] $, such that $M$ satisfies ACC on annihilators, then $M$ has finitely many minimal prime submodules. Moreover if each submodule $N\subseteq M$ contains a uniform submodule, we prove that there is a bijective correspondence between a complete set of representatives of isomorphism classes of indecomposable non $M$-singular injective modules in $σ\left[ M\right] $ and the set of min…
The coincidence of the set of all nilpotent elements of a ring with its prime radical has a module analogue which occurs when the zero submodule satisfies the radical formula. A ring $R$ is 2-primal if the set of all nilpotent elements of $R$ coincides with its prime radical. This fact motivates our study in this paper, namely, to compare 2-primal submodules and submodules that satisfy the radical formula. A demonstration of the importance of 2-primal modules in bridging the gap between modules over commutative rings and modules over noncommutative rings is done and new examples of rings and m…
Let $G$ be a group with identity $e$. Let $R$ be a $G$-graded commutative ring, $M$ a graded $R$-module and $A\subseteq h(R)$ a multiplicatively closed subset of $R$. In this paper, we introduce the concept of graded $A$-2-absorbing submodules of $M$ as a generalization of graded 2-absorbing submodules and graded $A$-prime submodules of $M.$ We investigate some properties of this class of graded submodules.
By any measure, semisimple modules form one of the most important classes of modules and play a distinguished role in the module theory and its applications. One of the most fundamental results in this area is the Wedderburn-Artin theorem. In this paper, we establish natural generalizations of semisimple modules and give a generalization of the Wedderburn-Artin theorem. We study modules in which every submodule is isomorphic to a direct summand and name them {\it virtually semisimple modules}. A module $_RM$ is called {\it completely virtually semisimple} if each submodules of $M$ is a virtual…
It is shown that a ring is left semihereditary if and only each homomorphic image of its injective hull as left module is FP-injective. It is also proven that a commutative ring R is reduced and arithmetical if and only if E/U if FP-injective for any FP-injective R-module E and for any submodule U of finite Goldie dimension. A characterization of commutative rings for which each module of finite Goldie dimension is of injective dimension at most one is given. Let R be a chain ring and Z its subset of zerodivisors. It is proven that E/U is FP-injective for each FP-injective R-module E and each …
Completely prime right ideals are introduced as a one-sided generalization of the concept of a prime ideal in a commutative ring. Some of their basic properties are investigated, pointing out both similarities and differences between these right ideals and their commutative counterparts. We prove the Completely Prime Ideal Principle, a theorem stating that right ideals that are maximal in a specific sense must be completely prime. We offer a number of applications of the Completely Prime Ideal Principle arising from many diverse concepts in rings and modules. These applications show how comple…
Here we continue to characterize a recently introduced notion, le-modules $_{R}M$ over a commutative ring $R$ with unity \cite{Bhuniya}. This article introduces and characterizes Zariski topology on the set $Spec(M)$ of all prime submodule elements of $M$. Thus we extend many results on Zariski topology for modules over a ring to le-modules. The topological space Spec(M) is connected if and only if $R/Ann(M)$ contains no idempotents other than $\overline{0}$ and $\overline{1}$. Open sets in the Zariski topology for the quotient ring $R/Ann(M)$ induces a base of quasi-compact open sets for the …
A relationship between nilpotency and primeness in a module is investigated. Reduced modules are expressed as sums of prime modules. It is shown that presence of nilpotent module elements inhibits a module from possessing good structural properties. A general form is given of an example used in literature to distinguish: 1) completely prime modules from prime modules, 2) classical prime modules from classical completely prime modules, and 3) a module which satisfies the complete radical formula from one which is neither 2-primal nor satisfies the radical formula.
Given a semiprime Goldie module $M$ projective in $σ[M]$ we study decompositions on its $M$-injective hull $\hat{M}$ in terms of the minimal prime in $M$ submodules. With this, we characterize the semiprime Goldie modules in $\mathbb{Z}$-Mod and make a decomposition of the endomorphism ring of $\hat{M}$. Also, we investigate the relations among semiprime Goldie modules, $QI$-modules and co-semisimple modules extending results on left $QI$-rings and $V$-rings.
Given a duo module $M$ over an associative (not necessarily commutative) ring $R,$ a Zariski topology is defined on the spectrum $\mathrm{Spec}^{\mathrm{fp}}(M)$ of {\it fully prime} $R$-submodules of $M$. We investigate, in particular, the interplay between the properties of this space and the algebraic properties of the module under consideration.
Let $H$ be a connected Hopf algebra acting on an algebra $A$. Working over a base field having characteristic $0$, we show that for a given prime (semi-prime, completely prime) ideal $I$ of $A$, the largest $H$-stable ideal of A contained in $I$ is also prime (semi-prime, completely prime). We also prove a similar result for certain subrings of convolution algebras.
We introduce a dual Zariski topology on the spectrum of fully coprime $R$-submodules of a given duo module $M$ over an associative (not necessarily commutative) ring $R$. This topology is defined in a way dual to that of defining the Zariski topology on the prime spectrum of $R$. We investigate this topology and clarify the interplay between the properties of this space and the algebraic properties of the module under consideration.
We describe a general framework for prime, completely prime, semiprime, and primitive ideals of an abelian 2-category. This provides a noncommutative version of Balmer's prime spectrum of a tensor triangulated category. These notions are based on containment conditions in terms of thick subcategories of an abelian category and thick ideals of an abelian 2-category. We prove categorical analogs of the main properties of noncommutative prime spectra. Similar notions, starting with Serre subcategories of an abelian category and Serre ideals of an abelian 2-category, are developed. They are linked…
The purpose of this paper and its sequel, is to introduce a new class of modules over a commutative ring $R$, called $\mathbb{P}$-radical modules (modules $M$ satisfying the prime radical condition "$(\sqrt[p]{\cal{P}M}:M)={\cal{P}}$" for every prime ideal ${\cal{P}}\supseteq {\rm Ann}(M)$, where $\sqrt[p]{\cal{P}M}$ is the intersection of all prime submodules of $M$ containing ${\cal{P}}M$). This class contains the family of primeful modules properly. This yields that over any ring all free modules and all finitely generated modules lie in the class of $\mathbb{P}$-radical modules. Also, we s…
In this paper we study right $S$-Noetherian rings and modules, extending of notions introduced by Anderson and Dumitrescu in commutative algebra to noncommutative rings. Two characterizations of right $S$-Noetherian rings are given in terms of completely prime right ideals and point annihilator sets. We also prove an existence result for completely prime point annihilators of certain $S$-Noetherian modules with the following consequence in commutative algebra: If a module $M$ over a commutative ring is $S$-Noetherian with respect to a multiplicative set $S$ that contains no zero-divisors for $…
