Current LHC results indicate a possible enhancement in the production of Higgs bosons in association with top quarks (tth) over the Standard Model (SM) expectations, suggesting an increase in the top Yukawa coupling. To explain these results, we study the effect of adding to the SM a small set of vector-like partners of the top and bottom quarks with masses of order ~1 TeV. We consider Yukawa coupling matrices with vanishing determinant and show that then, Higgs production through gluon fusion is not affected by deviations in the top quark Yukawa coupling, and in fact depends only on deviations in the bottom quark Yukawa coupling. We call this scenario the "Brane Higgs Limit", as it can emerge naturally in models of warped extra-dimensions with all matter fields in the bulk, except the Higgs (although it could also occur in 4D scenarios with vector-like quarks and special flavor symmetries forcing the vanishing of the Yukawa determinants). We show that the scenario is highly predictive for all Higgs production/decay modes, making it easily falsifiable, maybe even at the LHC RUN 2 with higher luminosity.
The $tthh$ production at colliders contain rich information on the nature of Higgs boson. In this article, we systematically studied its physics at High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), using exclusive channels with multiple ($\geq 5$) $b$-jets and one lepton ($5b1\ell$), multiple ($\geq 5$) $b$-jets and opposite-sign di-lepton ($5b2\ell$), same-sign di-lepton (SS2$\ell$), multiple leptons (multi-$\ell$), and di-tau resonance ($ττ$). The scenarios analyzed include: (1) the $tthh$ production in Standard Model; (2) the $tthh$ production mediated by anomalous cubic Higgs self-coupling a…
A precise measurement of the Higgs boson couplings to bottom and top quarks is of paramount importance during the upcoming LHC runs. We present a comprehensive analysis for the Higgs production process in association with a semi-leptonically decaying top-quark pair and subsequent Higgs boson decay into bottom quarks. Due to the highly complex final state and large Standard Model backgrounds, measuring the signal strength in this process is known to be challenging. To maximise the sensitivity, we analyse different, statistically independent, phase space regions, where one or more of the heavy r…
We present a comprehensive study of the modifications of Higgs couplings in the SO(5)/SO(4) minimal composite model. We focus on three couplings of central importance to Higgs phenomenology at the LHC: the couplings to top and bottom quarks and the coupling to two gluons. We consider three possible embeddings of the fermionic partners in 5, 10 and 14 of SO(5) and find tth and bbh couplings to be always suppressed in 5 and 10, while in 14 they can be either enhanced or suppressed. Assuming partial compositeness, we analyze the interplay between the tth coupling and the top sector contribution t…
Some new physics models, such as "beautiful mirrors" scenario, predict the existence of the bottom partner $B'$. Considering the constraints from the data for the $Z\rightarrow b\bar{b}$ branching ratio $R_{b}$ and the $FB$ asymmetry $A_{FB}^{b}$ on the relevant free parameters, we calculate the contributions of $B'$ to the cross section $σ(Zb)$ and the $Z$ polarization asymmetry $A_{Z}$ for $Zb$ production at the $LHC$. We find that the bottom partner $B'$ can generate significant corrections to $σ(Zb)$ and $A_{Z}$, which might be detected in near future.
A large number of top quarks will be produced at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for Run II period. This will allow us to measure the rare processes from the top sector in great details. We present the study of the top-quark pair production in association with a bottom-quark pair (ttbb) from fast simulations for the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment. The differential distributions of ttbb are compared with the top-quark pair production with two additional jets (ttjj) and with the production in association with the Higgs (ttH), where the Higgs decays to a bottom-quark pair. The significanc…
We study single production and detection at the LHC run II of exotic partners of the bottom quark. For masses larger than 1 TeV single production can dominate over pair production that is suppressed due to phase space. The presence of exotic partners of the bottom is motivated in models aiming to solve the $A_{FB}^b$ anomaly measured at LEP and SLC. Minimal models of this type with partial compositeness predict, as the lightest bottom partner, a new fermion V of electric charge -4/3, also called mirror. The relevant coupling for our study is a WVb vertex, which yields a signal that corresponds…
In this paper, we interpret the 750 GeV diphoton excess in the Zee-Babu extension of the two-Higgs-doublet model by introducing a top partner ($T$)/bottom partner ($B$). In the alignment limit, the 750 GeV resonance is identified as the heavy CP-even Higgs boson ($H$), which can be sizably produced via the QCD process $pp \to T\bar{T}$ or $pp \to B\bar{B}$ followed by the decay $T\to Ht$ or $B \to Hb$. The diphoton decay rate of $H$ is greatly enhanced by the charged singlet scalars predicted in the Zee-Babu extension and the total width of $H$ can be as large as 7 GeV. Under the current LHC c…
Rates for productions of neutral and doubly charged partners of D_{s0}^+(2317) in B meson decays are studied by using a hard D meson approximation in the infinite momentum frame, and the results are of the same order of magnitude as that of D_{s0}^+(2317). Because the bottom-strange X^{+-}(5568) which can be interpreted as iso-triplet bottom partners of D_{s0}^+(2317) have recently been discovered, observations of neutral and doubly charged partners of D_{s0}^+(2317) are strongly desired.
In this paper, we analyzed the experimentally available radially excited charm mesons to predict the similar spectra for the n=2 bottom mesons. In the heavy quark effective theory, we explore the flavor independent parameters to calculate the masses for the experimentally unknown n=2 bottom mesons B(2S), B(2P), Bs(2S) and Bs(2P). We have also analyzed these bottom masses by applying the QCD and 1/mQ corrections to the lagrangian leading to the modification of flavor symmetry parameters as. Further strong decay widths are determined using these calculated masses to check the sensitivity of thes…
Vector-like quarks (VLQs) that are partners of the heavy top and bottom quarks are predicted in many extensions of the Standard Model (SM). We explore the possibility that these states could explain not only the longstanding anomaly in the forward-backward asymmetry in $b$-quark production at LEP, $A_{\rm FB}^b $, but also the more recent $\sim 2σ$ deviation of the cross section for the associated Higgs production with top quark pairs at the LHC, $σ(pp\to t\bar t H)$. Introducing three illustrative models for VLQs with different representations under the SM gauge group, we show that the two an…
Natural theories of the weak scale often include fermionic partners of the top quark. If the electroweak symmetry breaking sector contains scalars beyond a single Higgs doublet, then top partners can have sizable branching ratios to these extended Higgs sector states. In fact, top partner decays may provide the most promising discovery mode for such scalars, especially given the large backgrounds to direct and associated production. In this paper, we present a search strategy for top partner decays to a charged Higgs boson and a bottom quark, focusing on the case where the charged Higgs domina…
The search for Top and Bottom Partners is a major focus of analyses at both the ATLAS and CMS experiments. When singly produced, these vector-like partners of the Standard Model third generation quarks retain a sizeable cross-section that makes them attractive search candidates in their respective topologies. While most efforts have concentrated on the resonant mode for single production of these hypothetical particles, the most dominant mode at narrow widths, recent studies have revealed a wide and rich phenomenology involving the non-resonant diagrams. In this letter we categorically investi…
We summarise predictions for top anti-top bottom anti-bottom (tTbB) production at the LHC in next-to-leading order QCD. The precise description of this background process is a prerequisite to observe associated top anti-top Higgs production in the H -> bottom anti-bottom decay channel. The one-loop amplitudes are computed using Feynman diagrams and numerical tensor reduction. This approach provides very high numerical stability and CPU efficiency. We find that the scale choice adopted in ATLAS simulations underestimates the tTbB background by a factor two and introduce a new dynamical scale th…
X(3872) presents many surprises after its discovery more than ten years ago. Understanding its properties is crucial to understand the spectrum of possible exotic mesons. In this work, X(3872) meson and its heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS) partners (including the mesons in the bottom sector) are studied within the QCD Sum Rules approach using a current motivated by the molecular picture of X(3872). We predict four heavy partners to X(3872) and bottomonium with the masses and J^PC quantum numbers. Obtained results are in good agreement with the previous studies and available experimental data w…
We investigate the associated production of a neutral physical pion with top quarks in the context of topcolor assisted technicolor. We find that single-top associated production does not yield viable rates at either the Tevatron or LHC. tt-associated production at the Tevatron is suppressed relative to Standard Model ttH, but at the LHC is strongly enhanced and would allow for easy observation of the main decay channels to bottom quarks, and possible observation of the decay to gluons.
Recently BESIII collaboration discovered a charged strange hidden-charm state $Z_{cs}$(3985) in the $D_s^-D^{*0} + D_s^{*-}D^{0}$ spectrum. A higher $Z'_{cs}$ state coupling to $\bar{D}_s^{*-}D^{*0}$ is expected by SU(3)-flavor symmetry, and their bottom partners are anticipated by heavy quark flavor symmetry. Here we study the photoproduction of these exotic states and investigate carefully the background from Pomeron exchange. Our results indicate that the maximal photoproduction cross section of strange partner is around 1 $\sim$ 2 orders of magnitude smaller than that of the corresponding …
Since the discovery of the $X(3872)$ the study of heavy meson molecules has been the subject of many investigations. On the experimental side different experiments have looked for its spin partners and the bottom analogs. On the theoretical side different approaches have been used to understand this state. Some of them are EFT that impose HQSS and so they make predictions for the partners of the $X(3872)$, suggesting the existence of a $J^{PC}=2^{++}$ partner in the charm sector or $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ or $2^{++}$ analogs in the bottom. In our work, in order to understand the $X(3872)$, we use a Ch…
Using the Monte Carlo event generator tools Pythia and Herwig, we simulate the production of bottom/charm meson and antimeson pairs at hadron colliders in proton-proton/antiproton collisions. With these results, we derive an order-of-magnitude estimate for the production rates of the bottom analogues and the spin partner of the $X(3872)$ as hadronic molecules at the LHC and Tevatron experiments. We find that the cross sections for these processes are at the nb level, so that the current and future data sets from the Tevatron and LHC experiments offer a significant discovery potential. We furth…
Motivated by the very recent discovery of the strange hidden-charm exotic state $Z_{cs}(3985)$ by the BESIII Collaboration, we study possible interpretation of this exotic state both at $ T= 0 $ and $ T\neq 0 $. We analytically compute the mass and meson-current coupling constant of this resonance with spin-parity $ J^{PC} = 1^{+-}$ at finite temperature approximation up to sixth order of the thermal operator dimension including non-perturbative contributions. Extracting thermal mass and meson-current coupling constant sum rules, the modifications on properties of $Z_{cs}(3985)$ state in hot m…
The top/bottom seesaw model, which extends the top seesaw in order to accomodate a 125 GeV Higgs boson, predicts vector-like top/bottom partners and these partners can be bounded to form several neutral and charged singlet composite scalars by some new strong dynamics. In this letter, we use such a singlet scalar to interpret the 750 GeV diphoton reseanance. This singlet scalar is dominantly produced through the gluon fusion process induced by the partners and its diphoton decay is induced by both the partners and the charged singlet scalars. We show that this scenario can readily account for …
We study the $Ξ_b(6100)$ using the methods of QCD sum rules and light-cone sum rules within the framework of heavy quark effective theory. Our results suggest that the $Ξ_b(6100)$ can be well interpreted as the $P$-wave bottom baryon of $J^P=3/2^-$, belonging to the $SU(3)$ flavor $\mathbf{\bar 3}_F$ representation. It has a partner state of $J^P=1/2^-$, labelled as $Ξ_b(1/2^-)$, whose mass and width are predicted to be $m_{Ξ_b(1/2^-)}=6.08^{+0.13}_{-0.11}$~GeV and $Γ_{Ξ_b(1/2^-)}=4^{+29}_{-~4}$~MeV, with the mass splitting $ΔM=m_{Ξ_b(6100)}-m_{Ξ_b(1/2^-)}=9\pm3$~MeV. We propose to search for …
Like many other models, Composite Higgs Models feature the existence of heavy vector-like quarks. Mixing effects between the Standard Model fields and the heavy states, which can be quite large in case of the top quark, imply deviations from the SM. In this work we investigate the possibility of heavy bottom partners. We show that they can have a significant impact on electroweak precision observables and the current Higgs results if there is a sizeable mixing with the bottom quark. We explicitly check that the constraints from the measurement of the CKM matrix element $V_{tb}$ are fulfilled, …
In the framework of the color-magnetic interaction, we have systematically studied the mass splittings of the possible hidden-charm pentaquarks $qqqc\bar{c}$ ($q=u,d,s$) where the three light quarks are in a color-octet state. We find that i) the LHCb $P_c$ states fall in the mass region of the studied system; ii) most pentaquarks should be broad states since their $S$-wave open-charm decays are allowed while the lowest state is the $J^P=\frac12^-$ $Λ$-like pentaquark with probably the suppressed $η_cΛ$ decay mode only; and iii) the $J^P=\frac52^-$ states do not decay through $S$-wave and thei…
The properties of the $X(3872)$ and its spin partner, the $X(4014)$, are studied both in vacuum and at finite temperature. Using an effective hadron theory based on the hidden-gauge Lagrangian, the $X(3872)$ is dynamically generated from the $s$-wave rescattering of a pair of pseudoscalar and vector charm mesons. By incorporating the thermal spectral functions of open charm mesons, the calculation is extended to finite temperature. Similarly, the properties of the $X(4014)$ are obtained out of the scattering of charm vector mesons. By applying heavy-quark flavor symmetry, the properties of the…
We present an analysis of the newly observed pentaquark $P_c(4312)^+$ to shed light on its quantum numbers. To do that, the QCD sum rule approach is used. The measured mass of this particle is close to $Σ_c^{++}\bar{D}^-$ threshold and has a small width, which supports the possibility of its being a molecular state. We consider an interpolating current in a molecular form and analyze both the positive and negative parity states with spin-$\frac{1}{2}$. We also consider the bottom counterpart of the state with similar molecular form. Our mass result for the charm pentaquark state supports that,…
We revisit the calculation of relic density of dark matter particles co-annihilating with a top or bottom partner, by properly including the QCD bound-states (onia) effects of the colored partners, as well as the relevant electroweak processes which become important in the low mass region. We carefully set up the complete framework that incorporates the relevant contributions and investigate their effects on the cosmologically preferred mass spectrum, which turn out to be comparable in size to those coming from the Sommerfeld enhancement. We apply the calculation to three scenarios: bino-stop …
We revisit the formation of pion-mediated heavy-light exotic molecules with both charm and bottom and their chiral partners under the general strictures of both heavy-quark and chiral symmetry. The chiral exotic partners with good parity formed using the $(0^+, 1^+)$ multiplet are about twice more bound than their primary exotic partners formed using the $(0^-,1^-)$ multiplet. The chiral couplings across the multiplets $(0^\pm, 1^\pm)$ cause the chiral exotic partners to unbind, and the primary exotic molecules to be about twice more bound, for $J\leq 1$. Our multi-channel coupling results sho…
It is pointed out that in a wide class of models reminiscent of type-II Two-Higgs-Doublet Models (2HDM) the signal of the Higgs produced in association with a top-antitop quark pair ($tth$) and decaying into gauge bosons can be significantly larger than the Standard Model (SM) prediction without violating any experimental constraints. The crucial feature of these models is enhanced (suppressed) Higgs coupling to top (bottom) quarks and existence of light colored particles that give negative contribution to the effective Higgs coupling to gluons resulting in the gluon fusion rates in the gauge …
The newly observed $Σ_b(6097)$ provides us a good chance to further construct the high excited states of the bottom baryon family. In this work, we explain the $Σ_b(6097)$ to be a $1P$ state with $J^P=5/2^-$ or $3/2^-$ by giving the mass spectrum analysis and the strong decay calculation, and predict the existence of $1P$ and $2S$ partners of the $Σ_b(6097)$, where their masses and the corresponding decay behaviors are presented. Because of the success of describing the $Σ_b(6097)$ and the former observed $Ξ_b(6227)$ under the quasi-two-body treatment to the bottom baryons, we continue to pred…
Theories which provide a dynamical explanation for the large top-quark mass often include TeV-scale vector-like top-quark and bottom-quark partner states which can be potentially discovered at the LHC. These states are currently probed through model-independent searches for pair-production via gluon fusion, as well as through model-dependent complementary electroweak single production. In this paper we study the potential to extend those searches for the partners of the third-generation Standard Model quarks on the basis of their expected chromomagnetic interactions. We discuss how current sea…
In the scenario that a dark matter (DM) is a weakly interacting massive particle, there are many possibilities of the interactions with the Standard Model (SM) particles to achieve the relic density of DM. In this paper, we consider one simple DM model where the DM candidate is a complex scalar and interacts with the SM particles via exchange of the Higgs particle and an extra quark, named bottom partner. The extra quark carries the same quantum number as the right-handed down-type quarks and has Yukawa couplings with the DM candidate and the right-handed down-type quarks. The Yukawa interacti…
We consider one of the most significant deviations from the Standard Model: the forward-backward asymmetry of the b-quark measured at leptonic colliders. We investigate the possibility to solve this discrepancy by introducing new physics at the TeV scale. We focus on models where the Higgs is a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson of a new strongly coupled sector with a global SO(5) symmetry broken spontaneously to SO(4). Besides the usual top partners, we introduce bottom partners in the representations 16 and 4 of SO(5) and show that they can improve significantly the fit by correcting the Zbb coupl…

The developments in the experimental facilities and analyses techniques have recently lead to the observation of many hadronic states ranging from excitations of conventional hadrons to various exotic states. The baryons with single heavy quark are among these states providing an attractive field of research to get a better understanding of the nonperturbative nature of the strong interaction. Recently, the Belle Collaboration announced observation of the state $Λ_c(2910)^+$ with a mass $2913.8\pm5.6\pm3.8~\mathrm{MeV}/c^2$ and width $51.8\pm20.0\pm18.8~\mathrm{MeV}$. In the present study, by …
Selecting the newly observed $Ξ_b(6227)^-$ by LHCb as a study example, we decode its inner structure by giving the mass spectrum analysis and the investigation of its two-body strong decay behaviors. Our result indicates that the $Ξ_b(6227)^-$ is a good candidate of the $P$-wave $Ξ_b^{\prime}$ state with $J^P=3/2^-$ or $5/2^-$. In addition, we further provide the information of the properties of the partners of the $Ξ_b(6227)^-$. These predicted states include three $2S$ states and the remaining $1P$ states in the bottom-strange baryon family. The calculated sizable Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka$-$allowe…
Anomalously light fermionic partners of the top quark often appear in explicit constructions, such as the 5d holographic models, where the Higgs is a light composite pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson and its potential is generated radiatively by top quark loops. We show that this is due to a structural correlation among the mass of the partners and the one of the Higgs boson. Because of this correlation, the presence of light partners could be essential to obtain a realistic Higgs mass. We quantitatively confirm this generic prediction, which applies to a broad class of composite Higgs models, by s…
Establishing that a signal of new physics is undoubtly supersymmetric requires not only the discovery of the supersymmetric partners but also probing their spins and couplings. We show that the sbottom spin can be probed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider using only angular correlations in sbottom pair production with subsequent decay of sbottoms into bottom quark plus the lightest neutralino, which allow us to distinguish a universal extra dimensional interpretation with a fermionic heavy bottom quark from supersymmetry with a bosonic bottom squark. We demonstrate that this channel provides a …
The small mass of the bottom quark, relative to its weak isospin partner, the top quark, makes the bottom an effective probe of new physics in Higgs and top sectors. We study the Higgs boson production associated with bottom quarks, ppbar/pp to phi+b+bbar to 4b, at the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN LHC. We find that strong and model-independent constraints on the size of the phi-b-bbar coupling can be obtained for a wide range of Higgs boson masses. Their implications for the composite Higgs models with strong dynamics associated with the third family quarks (such as the top-condensate/topcol…
After a brief comment on the role of top quark in models of electroweak symmetry breaking (EWSB), I shall discuss what we know about top quark interaction and how to improve that knowledge. Since bottom quark is the weak isospin partner of the top quark, its interaction with a scalar boson may also distinguish models of EWSB. We show that Tevatron can provide useful information through the associated production of a scalar with a bottom quark pair.
This report summarizes latest ATLAS and CMS results on Higgs boson couplings to fermions.~Presented topics include decays into final states of pairs of tau leptons and pairs of bottom quarks as well as results on the ttH production mode.~Results are complemented by tests of the CP invariance and searches for lepton flavor violating decays.~Finally, prospects of future Higgs boson analyses within the scope of the High Luminosity LHC program are discussed.~The presented results mostly use LHC 2016 data collected at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{\mathrm{s}}=13~$TeV corresponding to an integra…
The discovery of a new charged structure in the $K^+$ recoil-mass spectrum near the $D^-_s D^{*0}/D^{*-}_sD^0$ threshold, dubbed $Z_{cs}(3985)^-$, reinforce the idea that the structure of hadrons goes beyond the naive $qqq$ and the $q\bar q$ structures. The existence of this state, with quark content $c\bar c s\bar u$, can be expected from the well-established $Z_c(3900)^\pm$ and $Z_c(4020)$ states using SU(3) flavor symmetry. The $Z_c$ structures have been explained using the chiral constituent quark model in a coupled-channels calculation and, in this work, we undertake the study of the $Z_{…
The scalar partners of top and bottom quarks are expected to be the lightest squarks in supersymmetric theories, with potentially large cross sections at hadron colliders. We present predictions for the production of top and bottom squarks at the Tevatron and the LHC, including next-to-leading order corrections in supersymmetric QCD and the resummation of soft gluon emission at next-to-leading-logarithmic accuracy. We discuss the impact of the higher-order corrections on total cross sections and transverse-momentum distributions, and provide an estimate of the theoretical uncertainty due to sc…
Heavy-quark symmetry as applied to heavy hadron systems implies that their interactions are independent of their heavy-quark spin (heavy-quark spin symmetry) and heavy flavour contents (heavy flavour symmetry). In the molecular hypothesis the $X(3872)$ resonance is a $1^{++}$ $D^*\bar{D}$ bound state. If this is the case, the application of heavy-quark symmetry to a molecular $X(3872)$ suggests the existence of a series of partner states, the most obvious of which is a possible $2^{++}$ $D^*\bar{D}^*$ bound state for which the two-body potential is identical to that of the $1^{++}$ $D^*\bar{D}…
The discovery of a charged strange hidden-charm state $Z_{cs}$(3985) implies another higher $Z^*_{cs}$ state coupling to $\bar{D}_s^{*-}D^{*0} + c.c$ under the heavy quark spin symmetry. In this paper we discuss a possible hunt for it with data taken at existing facilities. We point out a hint for $Z^*_{cs}$ in the data of $\bar{B}_s^0 \to J/ψK^- K^+$ at LHCb, though weak, in line with the production mechanism of pentaquark $P_c$. We also study the triangular singularity which would possibly enhance the production of $Z^*_{cs}$ in electron-positron collision. Surprisingly, the production rate …
The top quark can be naturally singled out from other fermions in the Standard Model due to its large mass, of the order of the electroweak scale. We follow this reasoning in models of pseudo Nambu Goldstone Boson composite Higgs, which may derive from an underlying confining dynamics. We consider a new class of flavour models, where the top quark obtains its mass via partial compositeness, while the lighter fermions acquire their masses by a deformation of the dynamics generated at a high flavour scale. One interesting feature of such scenario is that it can avoid all the flavour constraints …
We consider a minimal Lee-Wick (LW) extension to the Standard Model in which the fields providing the most important contributions to the cancellation of quadratic divergences are the lightest. Partners to the SU(2) gauge bosons, Higgs, top quark, and left-handed bottom quark are retained in the low-energy effective theory, which is valid up to approximately 10 TeV; the remaining LW partners appear above this cutoff and complete the theory in the ultraviolet. We determine the constraints on the low-energy spectrum from the electroweak parameters S and T, and find LW states within the kinematic…
We consider how best to search for top partners in generic composite Higgs models. We begin by classifying the possible group representations carried by top partners in models with and without a custodial $SU(2)\times SU(2) \rtimes \mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry protecting the rate for $Z \rightarrow b\overline{b}$ decays. We identify a number of minimal models whose top partners only have electric charges of $\frac{1}{3}, \frac{2}{3},$ or $\frac{4}{3}$ and thus decay to top or bottom quarks via a single Higgs or electroweak gauge boson. We develop an inclusive search for these based on a top veto, wh…
In relation to the newly observed bottom-strange X^{+,-}(5568) mesons, we revisit our tetra-quark interpretation of X(3872) and Z_c(3900). It is discussed that our assignment of X^{+,-}(5568) to charged components of iso-triplet bottom partners of D_{s0}^+(2317) is compatible with the revised version of our tetra-quark interpretation of X(3872) and Z_c(3900).
Searches for supersymmetric partner particles of the top and bottom quarks at the Large Hadron Collider are reviewed. The focus is on the status of searches for a relatively light partner of the top quark performed by the CMS and ATLAS Collaborations. No excess beyond Standard Model expectations is observed and exclusion limits are set on the masses of supersymmetric particles.
The supersymmetric decays of the top quark into charged Higgs plus bottom, $\thb$, and into the supersymmetric partner of the top (${\wti u}_1$) plus the lightest neutralino (${\wti χ}_1^0$), $\tstopneu$, are discussed within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with radiatively induced breaking of the gauge group $SU(2)\times U(1)$. The possibility of detecting these decays at present, i.e. given the available bounds on supersymmetric parameters, is compared with the situation a Next $e^+e^-$ Linear Collider would face if supersymmetric particles were still undiscovered …
The bottom-charmed ($B_c$) mesons are more stable than their charmonium ($c\bar c$) and bottomium ($b\bar b$) partners because they cannot annihilate into gluons. However, the low production cross-sections and signal-to-background ratios avoided until now their clear identification. The recent experimental results reported by CMS and LHCb at CERN open the possibility of having a $B_c$ spectrum as complete as the ones of charmonium and bottomonium. Motivated by this expectation, we compute bottom-charmed meson masses in the region energies in which decay meson-meson thresholds are opened, looki…
Top partners from a new strong sector can be discovered soon, at the 8 TeV LHC, by analyzing their single production, which exhibits a large enhancement in the cross section compared to the analogous productions of bottom partners and exotic quarks. We analyze the subsequent decay of the top partners into a 125 GeV Higgs. This channel proves to be very promising for both the discovery of top partners and a test of the Higgs sector. For a reference value $λ_{\tilde{T}}=3$ of the Higgs coupling to the top partner, we could have a discovery (observation) at the 8 TeV LHC, with 30 fb$^{-1}$, for t…
We investigate heavy quark symmetries for heavy light meson-antimeson systems in a contact-range effective field theory. In the SU(3) light flavor limit, the leading order Lagrangian respecting heavy quark spin symmetry contains four independent counter-terms. Neglecting $1/m_Q$ corrections, three of these low energy constants can be determ1ined by theorizing a molecular description of the $X(3872)$ and $Z_b(10610)$ states. Thus, we can predict new hadronic molecules, in particular the isovector charmonium partners of the $Z_b(10610)$ and the $Z_b(10650)$ states. We also discuss hadron molecul…
Vector-like quarks are introduced in various new physics models beyond the standard model (SM) at the TeV scale. We especially consider the case that the quark is singlet (triplet) under the SU(2)$_L$ (SU(3)$_c$) gauge group and couples only to the third generation quarks of the SM. The vector-like quark of this kind is often called a top partner. The top partoner $t_p$ decays into $bW, tZ$ and $th$. In the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, the top partner has been searched in the final states of $bW$ and $tZ$, while the search based on the decay mode $t_p\to th$ has not been started yet. However,…
In our recent paper, we have investigated the potential for the LHC to discover vector-like quark partner states singly produced via their chromomagnetic moment interactions. These production mechanisms extend traditional searches which rely on pair-production of top-quark partner states or on the single production of these states through electroweak interactions, in the sense of providing greatly increased reach in parameter space regions where traditional searches are insensitive. In this study we determine the potential of both the 14 TeV high-luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) and a 100 TeV proton-pr…
In this talk I present the contribution of gluinos and scalar quarks to the decay rate of the top quark into a charged Higgs boson and a bottom quark within the minimal supersymmetric standard model, including the mixing of the scalar partners of the left- and right-handed top quark.
The LHCb Collaboration has recently observed two narrow baryon resonances with beauty. Their masses and decay modes look consistent with the quark model orbitally excited states Lambda_b(5912) and Lambda*_b(5920), with quantum numbers J^P=1/2^- and 3/2^-, respectively. We predict the existence of these states within a unitarized meson-baryon coupled-channel dynamical model, which implements heavy-quark spin symmetry. Masses, quantum numbers and couplings of these resonances to the different meson-baryon channels are obtained. We find that the resonances Lambda^0_b(5912) and Lambda^0_b(5920) ar…
