In this article, we define discrete analogue of generalized Hardy spaces and its separable subspace on a homogenous rooted tree and study some of its properties such as completeness, inclusion relations with other spaces, separability, growth estimate for functions in these spaces and their consequences. Equivalent conditions for multiplication operators to be bounded and compact are also obtained. Furthermore, we discuss about point spectrum, approximate point spectrum and spectrum of multiplication operators and discuss when a multiplication operator is an isometry.
In this paper, we study the basic properties such as boundedness and compactness of composition operators on discrete analogue of generalized Hardy space defined on a homogeneous rooted tree. Also, we compute the operator norm of composition operator when inducing symbol is automorphism of a homogenous tree.
For a pointwise multiplier $φ$ of the Hardy-Sobolev space $H^2_β$ on the open unit ball $\bn$ in $\cn$, we study spectral properties of the multiplication operator $M_φ: H^2_β\to H^2_β$. In particular, we compute the spectrum and essential spectrum of $M_φ$ and develop the Fredholm theory for these operators.
We constructively determine the Pietsch measure of the 2-summing multiplication operator \[\mathcal{M}_u:\ell^{\infty} \rightarrow H^p, \quad (φ_I) \mapsto \sum φ_Ix_Ih_I. \] Our construction of the Pietsch measure for the multiplication operator $\mathcal{M}_u$ involves the Haar coefficients of $u$ and its atomic decomposition.
A broader class of Hardy spaces and Lebesgue spaces have been introduced recently on the unit circle by considering continuous $\|.\|_1$-dominating normalized gauge norms instead of the classical norms on measurable functions and a Beurling type result has been proved for the operator of multiplication by the coordinate function. In this paper, we generalize the above Beurling type result to the context of multiplication by a finite Blaschke factor $B(z)$ and also derive the common invariant subspaces of $B^2(z)$ and $B^3(z)$. These results lead to a factorization result for all functions in t…
Muthukumar and Ponnusamy \cite{MP-Tp-spaces} studied the multiplication operators on $\mathbb{T}_p$ spaces. In this article, we mainly consider multiplication operators between $\mathbb{T}_p$ and $\mathbb{T}_q$ ($p\neq q$). In particular, we characterize bounded and compact multiplication operators from $\mathbb{T}_{p}$ to $\mathbb{T}_{q}$. For $p\neq q$, we prove that there are no invertible multiplication operators from $\mathbb{T}_{p}$ to $\mathbb{T}_{q}$ and also there are no isometric multiplication operators from $\mathbb{T}_{p}$ to $\mathbb{T}_{q}$. Finally, we discuss about fixed point…
In this paper we propose a different (and equivalent) norm on $S^{2} ({\mathbb{D}})$ which consists of functions whose derivatives are in the Hardy space of unit disk. The reproducing kernel of $S^{2}({\mathbb{D}})$ in this norm admits an explicit form, and it is a complete Nevanlinna-Pick kernel. Furthermore, there is a surprising connection of this norm with $3$ -isometries. We then study composition and multiplication operators on this space. Specifically, we obtain an upper bound for the norm of $C_φ$ for a class of composition operators. We completely characterize multiplication operators…
In this paper, a new two-dimensional Hardy type inequality is given in terms of pseudo-analysis dealing with set-valued functions. The first one is given for a pseudo-integral of set-valued function where pseudo-addition and pseudo-multiplication are constructed by a monotone continuous function $g:[0, \infty ]\to[0, \infty]$. Another is given by the semiring $([0, 1], \max, \odot)$ where pseudo-multiplication is generated by an increasing continuous function.
We study when multiplication by a weight can turn a non-compact composition operator on H 2 into a compact operator, and when it can be in Schatten classes. The q-summing case in H p is considered. We also study when this multiplication can turn a compact composition operator into a non-compact one. MSC 2010 primary: 47B33 ; secondary: 46B28
The object of this paper is to prove a version of the Beurling-Helson-Lowdenslager invariant subspace theorem for operators on certain Banach spaces of functions on a multiply connected domain in the complex plane. The norms for these spaces are either the usual Lebesgue and Hardy space norms or certain continuous gauge norms. In the Hardy space case the expected corollaries include the characterization of the cyclic vectors as the outer functions in this context, a demonstration that the set of analytic multiplication operators is maximal abelian and reflexive, and a determination of the clos…
In this paper we investigate the reproducing kernel Hilbert space where the polylogarithm appears as kernel functions. This investigation begins with the properties of functions in this space, and here a connection to the classical Hardy space is shown through the Bose-Einstein integral equation. Next we consider function theoretic operators over the polylogarithmic Hardy space, such as multiplication and Toeplitz operators. It is determined that there are only trivial densely defined multiplication operators (and therefore only trivial bounded multipliers) over this space, which makes this sp…
In this paper, we establish continuous bilinear decompositions that arise in the study of products between elements in martingale Hardy spaces $ H^p\ (0<p\leqslant 1) $ and functions in their dual spaces. Our decompositions are based on martingale paraproducts. As a consequence of our work, we also obtain analogous results for dyadic martingales on spaces of homogeneous type equipped with a doubling measure.
We show that the Hardy space on the unit disk is the only non-trivial irreducible reproducing kernel Hilbert space which satisfies the complete Nevanlinna-Pick property and hyponormality of all multiplication operators.
For $f \in H^p(δ^2)$, $0<p\leq 2$, with Haar expansion $f=\sum f_{I \times J}h_{I\times J}$ we constructively determine the Pietsch measure of the $2$-summing multiplication operator \[\mathcal{M}_f:\ell^{\infty} \rightarrow H^p(δ^2), \quad (φ_{I\times J}) \mapsto \sum φ_{I\times J}f_{I \times J}h_{I \times J}. \] Our method yields a constructive proof of Pisier's decomposition of $f \in H^p(δ^2)$ \[|f|=|x|^{1-θ}|y|^θ\quad\quad \text{ and }\quad\quad \|x\|_{X_0}^{1-θ}\|y\|^θ_{H^2(δ^2)}\leq C\|f\|_{H^p(δ^2)}, \] where $X_0$ is Pisier's extrapolation lattice associated to $H^p(δ^2)$ and $H^2(δ^2…
In this note we study sub-Hardy Hilbert spaces on which the the action of the operator of multiplication by the coordinate function z is assumed to be weaker than that of an isometry. We identify such operators with a class of weighted shifts. The well known results of de Branges and Beurling are deduced as corollaries .
This paper deals with representing in concrete fashion those Hilbert spaces that are vector subspaces of the Hardy spaces $H^p(\bb D^n) \ (1\le p\le \infty)$ that remain invariant under the action of coordinate wise multiplication by an $n$-tuple $(T_{B_1},\dots, T_{B_n})$ of operators where each $B_i, \ 1\le i\le n,$ is a finite Blaschke factor on the open unit disc. The critical point to be noted is that these $T_{B_i}$ are assumed to be weaker than isometries as operators. Thus our main theorem extends the principal result of \cite{LS} in the following three directions: $(i)$ from one to se…

This paper is concerned with proving some embeddings of the form \begin{equation*} F_{p_{1},q}^{s_{1}}\cdot B_{p_{2},\infty }^{s_{2}}\cdot ...\cdot B_{p_{m},\infty }^{s_{m}}\hookrightarrow F_{p,q}^{s_{1}},\quad m\geq 2. \end{equation*} The different embeddings obtained here are under certain restrictions on the parameters. In particular, we improve some results of pointwise multiplication on Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. Franke-Jawerth embeddings, the $\pm $ - method of Gustaffson-Peetre and the relation between Hardy spaces and Triebel-Lizorkin spaces are the main tools.
The symmetrized bidisc has been a rich field of holomorphic function theory and operator theory. A certain well-known reproducing kernel Hilbert space of holomorphic functions on the symmetrized bidisc resembles the Hardy space of the unit disc in several aspects. This space is known as the Hardy space of the symmetrized bidisc. We introduce the study of those operators on the Hardy space of the symmetrized bidisc that are analogous to Toeplitz operators on the Hardy space of the unit disc. More explicitly, we first study multiplication operators on a bigger space (an $L^2$-space) and then stu…
Following Sarason's classification of the densely defined multiplication operators over the Hardy space, we classify the densely defined multipliers over the Sobolev space, $W^{1,2}[0,1]$. In this paper we find that the collection of such multipliers for the Sobolev space is exactly the Sobolev space itself. This sharpens a result of Shields concerning bounded multipliers. The densely defined multiplication operators over the subspace $W_0 = \{f \in W^{1,2}[0,1] : f(0)=f(1)=0 \}$ are also classified. In this case the densely defined multiplication operators can be written as a ratio of functio…
We introduce the class of variable anisotropic singular integral operators associated to a continuous multi-level ellipsoid cover $Θ$ of $\mathbb{R}^n$ introduced by Dahmen, Dekel, and Petrushev \cite{ddp}. This is an extension of the classical isotropic singular integral operators on $\mathbb{R}^n$ of arbitrary smoothness and their anisotropic analogues for general expansive matrices introduced by the first author \cite{b}. We establish the boundedness of variable anisotropic singular integral operators $T$ on the Hardy spaces with pointwise variable anisotropy $H^p(Θ)$, which were developed …
Consider the multiplication operator $M_{B}$ in $L^2(\T)$, where the symbol $B$ is a finite Blaschke product. In this article, we characterize the commutant of $M_{B}$ in $L^2(\T)$, noting the fact that $L^2(\T)$ is not an RKHS. As an application of this characterization result, we explicitly determine the class of conjugations commuting with $M_{z^2}$ or making $M_{z^2}$ complex symmetric by introducing a new class of conjugations in $L^2(\T)$. Moreover, we analyze their properties while keeping the whole Hardy space, model space, and Beurling-type subspaces invariant. Furthermore, we extende…
While the symbol map for the collection of bounded Toeplitz operators is well studied, there has been little work on a symbol map for densely defined Toeplitz operators. In this work a family of candidate symbols, the Sarason Sub-Symbols, is introduced as a means of reproducing the symbol of a densely defined Toeplitz operator. This leads to a partial answer to a question posed by Donald Sarason in 2008. In the bounded case the Toeplitzness of an operator can be classified in terms of its Sarason Sub-Symbols. This justifies the investigation into the application of the Sarason Sub-Symbols on d…
Following upon results of Putinar, Sun, Wang, Zheng and the first author, we provide models for the restrictions of the multiplication by a finite Balschke product on the Bergman space in the unit disc to its reducing subspaces. The models involve a generalization of the notion of bundle shift on the Hardy space introduced by Abrahamse and the first author to the Bergman space. We develop generalized bundle shifts on more general domains. While the characterization of the bundle shift is rather explicit, we have not been able to obtain all the earlier results appeared, in particular, the facts…
For truncated Toeplitz operators, which are compressions of multiplication operators to model subspaces of the Hardy space $H^2$, we obtain criteria for commutation relations. The results show an analogy to the case of Toeplitz matrices, and they extend the theory of Sedlock algebras.
We characterize the space of multipliers from the Hardy space of Dirichlet series $\mathcal H_p$ into $\mathcal H_q$ for every $1 \leq p,q \leq \infty$. For a fixed Dirichlet series, we also investigate some structural properties of its associated multiplication operator. In particular, we study the norm, the essential norm, and the spectrum for an operator of this kind. We exploit the existing natural identification of spaces of Dirichlet series with spaces of holomorphic functions in infinitely many variables and apply several methods from complex and harmonic analysis to obtain our results.…
Operators of multiplication by independent variables on the space of square summable functions over the torus and its Hardy subspace are considered. Invariant subspaces where the operators are compatible are described.
Let ${\mathcal X}$ be an RD-space, which means that ${\mathcal X}$ is a space of homogenous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss with the additional property that a reverse doubling property holds in ${\mathcal X}$. In this paper, the authors first introduce the notion of admissible functions $ρ$ and then develop a theory of localized Hardy spaces $H^1_ρ({\mathcal X})$ associated with $ρ$, which includes several maximal function characterizations of $H^1_ρ({\mathcal X})$, the relations between $H^1_ρ({\mathcal X})$ and the classical Hardy space $H^1({\mathcal X})$ via constructing a kernel f…
Let $p\in(0,1)$, $α:=1/p-1$ and, for any $τ\in [0,\infty)$, $Φ_{p}(τ):=τ/(1+τ^{1-p})$. Let $H^p(\mathbb R^n)$, $h^p(\mathbb R^n)$ and $Λ_{nα}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ be, respectively, the Hardy space, the local Hardy space and the inhomogeneous Lipschitz space on $\mathbb{R}^n$. In this article, applying the inhomogeneous renormalization of wavelets, the authors establish a bilinear decomposition for multiplications of elements in $h^p(\mathbb R^n)$ [or $H^p(\mathbb R^n)$] and $Λ_{nα}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, and prove that these bilinear decompositions are sharp in some sense. As applications, the authors also…
Conjugations in space $L^2$ of the unit circle commuting with multiplication by $z$ or intertwining multiplications by $z$ and $\bar z$ are characterized. We also study their behaviour with respect to the Hardy space, subspaces invariant for the unilateral shift and model spaces.
We provide a characterization of the commutant of analytic Toeplitz operators $T_B$ induced by finite Blachke products $B$ acting on weighted Bergman spaces which, as a particular instance, yields the case $B(z)=z^n$ on the Bergman space solved recently by by Abkar, Cao and Zhu. Moreover, it extends previous results by Cowen and Wahl in this context and applies to other Banach spaces of analytic functions such as Hardy spaces $H^p$ for $1<p<\infty$. Finally, we apply this approach to study the reducing subspaces of $T_{B}$ in weighted Bergman spaces.
Let $φ$ be a Musielak-Orlicz function satisfying that, for any $(x,\,t)\in\mathbb{R}^n\times(0,\,\infty)$, $φ(\cdot,\,t)$ belongs to the Muckenhoupt weight class $A_\infty (\mathbb{R}^n)$ with the critical weight exponent $q(φ)\in[1,\,\infty)$ and $φ(x,\,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function with $0<i(φ)\le I(φ)\le 1$ which are, respectively, its critical lower type and upper type. In this article, the authors establish the Riesz transform characterizations of the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy spaces $H_φ(\mathbb{R}^n)$ which are generalizations of weighted Hardy spaces and Orlicz-Hardy spaces. Precisely, the…
The classical completeness problem raised by Beurling and independently by Wintner asks for which $ψ\in L^2(0,1)$, the dilation system $\{ψ(kx):k=1,2,\cdots\}$ is complete in $L^2(0,1)$, where $ψ$ is identified with its extension to an odd $2$-periodic function on $\mathbb{R}$. This difficult problem is nowadays commonly called as the Periodic Dilation Completeness Problem (PDCP). By Beurling's idea and an application of the Bohr transform, the PDCP is translated as an equivalent problem of characterizing cyclic vectors in the Hardy space $\mathbf{H}_\infty^2$ over the infinite-dimensional pol…
We study reducing subspaces for an analytic multiplication operator M_{z^{n}} on the Bergman space L_{a}^{2}(A_{r}) of the annulus A_{r}, and we prove that M_{z^{n}} has exactly 2^n reducing subspaces. Furthermore, in contrast to what happens for the disk, the same is true for the Hardy space on the annulus. Finally, we extend the results to certain bilateral weighted shifts, and interpret the results in the context of complex geometry.
Let $S$ be a subspace of $L^2 (\bm{R})$. We show that the operator $M$ of multiplication by the independent variable has a simple symmetric regular restriction to $S$ with deficiency indices $(1,1)$ if and only if $S = u h K^{2}_θ$ is a nearly invariant subspace, with $θ$ a meromorphic inner function vanishing at $i$. Here $u$ is unimodular, $h$ is an isometric multiplier of $K^{2}_θ$ into $H^2$ and $H^2$ is the Hardy space of the upper half plane. Our proof uses the dilation theory of completely positive maps.
Let $D$ be a bounded homogeneous domain in $\mathbb{C}^n$. In this paper, we study the bounded and the compact weighted composition operators mapping the Hardy space $H^\infty(D)$ into the Bloch space of $D$. We characterize the bounded weighted composition operators, provide operator norm estimates, and give sufficient conditions for compactness. We prove that these conditions are necessary in the case of the unit ball and the polydisk. We then show that if $D$ is a bounded symmetric domain, the bounded multiplication operators from $H^\infty(D)$ to the Bloch space of $D$ are the operators wh…
The study of a pair $(V_1,V_2)$ of commuting isometries is a classical theme. We shine new light on it by using the defect operator. In the cases when the defect operator is zero or positive or negative, or the difference of two mutually orthogonal projections with ranges adding up to $\ker (V_1V_2)^*$, we write down structure theorems for $(V_1,V_2)$. The structure theorems allow us to compute the joint spectrum in each of the cases above. Moreover, in each case, we also point out at which stage of the Koszul complex the exactness breaks. A pair of operator valued functions $(φ_1,φ_2)$ is can…
We characterize strong continuity of general operator semigroups on some Lebesgue spaces. In particular, a characterization of strong continuity of weighted composition semigroups on classical Hardy spaces and weighted Bergman spaces with regular weights is given. As applications, our result improves the results of Siskakis, A. G. \cite{AG1} and König, W. \cite{K} and answers a question of Siskakis, A. G. proposed in \cite{AG4}. We also characterize strongly continuous semigroups of weighted composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces in terms of abelian intertwiners of multiplication ope…
We show that if the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is bounded on a reflexive Banach function space $X(\mathbb{R})$ and on its associate space $X'(\mathbb{R})$, then the space $X(\mathbb{R})$ has an unconditional wavelet basis. As a consequence of the existence of a Schauder basis in $X(\mathbb{R})$, we prove that the ideal of compact operators $\mathcal{K}(X(\mathbb{R}))$ on the space $X(\mathbb{R})$ is contained in the Banach algebra generated by all operators of multiplication $aI$ by functions $a\in C(\dot{\mathbb{R}})$, where $\dot{\mathbb{R}}=\mathbb{R}\cup\{\infty\}$, and by all Fouri…
We provide conditions for a linear map of the form $C_{R,T}(S)=RST$ to be $q$-frequently hypercyclic on algebras of operators on separable Banach spaces. In particular, if $R$ is a bounded operator satisfying the $q$-Frequent Hypercyclicity Criterion, then the map $C_{R}(S)$=$RSR^*$ is shown to be $q$-frequently hypercyclic on the space $\mathcal{K}(H)$ of all compact operators and the real topological vector space $\mathcal{S}(H)$ of all self-adjoint operators on a separable Hilbert space $H$. Further we provide a condition for $C_{R,T}$ to be $q$-frequently hypercyclic on the Schatten von Ne…
The theory of symmetric, non-selfadjoint operators has several deep applications to the complex function theory of certain reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces of analytic functions, as well as to the study of ordinary differential operators such as Schrodinger operators in mathematical physics. Examples of simple symmetric operators include multiplication operators on various spaces of analytic functions such as model subspaces of Hardy spaces, deBranges-Rovnyak spaces and Herglotz spaces, ordinary differential operators (including Schrodinger operators from quantum mechanics), Toeplitz operator…
By analytic perturbations, we refer to shifts that are finite rank perturbations of the form $M_z + F$, where $M_z$ is the unilateral shift and $F$ is a finite rank operator on the Hardy space over the open unit disc. Here shift refers to the multiplication operator $M_z$ on some analytic reproducing kernel Hilbert space. In this paper, we first isolate a natural class of finite rank operators for which the corresponding perturbations are analytic, and then we present a complete classification of invariant subspaces of those analytic perturbations. We also exhibit some instructive examples and…
Let $X(\mathbb{R})$ be a separable Banach function space such that the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is bounded $X(\mathbb{R})$ and on its associate space $X'(\mathbb{R})$. The algebra $C_X(\dot{\mathbb{R}})$ of continuous Fourier multipliers on $X(\mathbb{R})$ is defined as the closure of the set of continuous functions of bounded variation on $\dot{\mathbb{R}}=\mathbb{R}\cup\{\infty\}$ with respect to the multiplier norm. It was proved by C. Fernandes, Yu. Karlovich and the first author \cite{FKK19} that if the space $X(\mathbb{R})$ is reflexive, then the ideal of compact operators is co…
We initiate a study of asymptotic Toeplitz operators on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ (over the unit polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$). We also study the Toeplitz operators in the polydisc setting. Our main results on Toeplitz and asymptotic Toeplitz operators can be stated as follows: Let $T_{z_i}$ denote the multiplication operator on $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ by the $i^{th}$ coordinate function $z_i$, $i =1, \ldots, n$, and let $T$ be a bounded linear operator on $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$. Then the following hold: (i) $T$ is a Toeplitz operator (that is, $T = P_{H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)} M_φ|_{…
