Cosmic Dark Fluid is considered as a non-stationary medium, in which electromagnetic waves propagate, and magneto-electric field structures emerge and evolve. A medium - type representation of the Dark Fluid allows us to involve into analysis the concepts and mathematical formalism elaborated in the framework of classical covariant electrodynamics of continua, and to distinguish dark analogs of well-known medium-effects, such as optical activity, pyro-electricity, piezo-magnetism, electro- and magneto-striction and dynamo-optical activity. The Dark Fluid is assumed to be formed by a duet of a Dark Matter (a pseudoscalar axionic constituent) and Dark Energy (a scalar element); respectively, we distinguish electrodynamic effects induced by these two constituents of the Dark Fluid. The review contains discussions of ten models, which describe electrodynamic effects induced by Dark Matter and/or Dark Energy. The models are accompanied by examples of exact solutions to the master equations, correspondingly extended; applications are considered for cosmology and space-times with spherical and pp-wave symmetries. In these applications we focused the attention on three main electromagnetic phenomena induced by the Dark Fluid: first, emergence of Longitudinal Magneto-Electric Clusters; second, generation of anomalous electromagnetic responses; third, formation of Dark Epochs in the Universe history.
We study the dynamical behavior of spinor particles, and get the energy-momentum relation of charged particles by solving the Dirac equation. Based on the energy-momentum relation, we investigate the laws of thermodynamics and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture for the (2+1)-dimensional regular black hole with nonlinear electrodynamics sources in the normal phase space and the extended phase space. Our results show that the first law of thermodynamics as well as the weak cosmic censorship conjecture are valid in both the phase spaces. However, the second law of thermodynamics is violated in…
We first obtain the $D$-dimensional asymptotically AdS charged black hole solution in general nonlinear electrodynamics (NLED). We then use the Hamilton-Jacobi method to describe the motion in curved spacetime of a scalar particle and a fermion, which, as we show, satisfy the same Hamilton-Jacobi equation. With absorbing a charged particle, the variation of the generic charged NLED black hole is calculated in the normal and extended phase spaces. In the normal phase space, where the cosmological constant and dimensionful parameters in NLED are fixed, the first and second laws of thermodynamics…
The new version of the gedanken experiments proposed by Sorce and Wald are designed to test the validity of the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) by overspinning or overcharging the Kerr-Newman black hole in Einstein-Maxwell gravity. Following their setup, in this paper, we investigate the WCCC in the higher-dimensional charged black hole with a nonlinear electrodynamics source. We derive the first and seconder order perturbation inequalities of the charged collision matter based on the Iyer-Wald formalism as well as the null energy conditions, and show that they share the similar form …
A method to study electromagnetic (EM) effects generated by a straight null cosmic string moving in classical EM fields is suggested. The string is shown to induce an additional EM field which can be described as a solution to homogeneous Maxwell equations with initial data set on a null surface, the string event horizon, where the string world-sheet belongs to. The initial data ensure the required holonomy of the string space-time caused by the gravity of the string. This characteristic initial value problem is used to study interaction of plane waves with null strings and perturbations by th…
Following the interpretation of matter source that the energy-momentum tensor of anisotropic fluid can be dealt with effectively as the energy-momentum tensor of perfect fluid plus linear (Maxwell) electromagnetic field, we obtain the regular higher-dimensional Reissner-Nordström (Tangherlini-RN) solution by starting with the noncommutative geometry inspired Schwarzschild solution. Using the boundary conditions that connect the noncommutative Schwarzschild solution in the interior of the charged perfect fluid sphere to the Tangherlini-RN solution in the exterior of the sphere, we find that the…
Recently, the nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) has been gaining attention to generate primordial magnetic fields in the Universe and also to resolve singularity problems. Moreover, recent works have shown the crucial role of the NED on the inflation. This paper provides a new approach based on a new model of NED as a source of gravitation to remove the cosmic singularity at the big bang and explain the cosmic acceleration during the inflation era on the background of stochastic magnetic field. Also, we found a realization of a cyclic Universe, free of initial singularity, due to the proposed NE…
The effective theory of the Anton-Schmidt cosmic fluid within the Debye approximation is investigated. In this picture, the universe is modeled out by means of a medium without cosmological constant. In particular, the Anton-Schmidt representation of matter describes the pressure of crystalline solids under deformations imposed by isotropic stresses. The approach scheme is related to the fact that the universe deforms under the action of the cosmic expansion itself. Thus, we frame the dark energy term as a function of scalar fields and obtain the corresponding dark energy potential $V(φ)$. Dif…
We establish the nonlocal generalization of the Israel-Stewart model for the relativistic causal thermodynamics of the cosmic fluid, which evolves in the homogeneous isotropic Universe. Based on the second law of thermodynamics we derive the integro-differential master equation for the nonequilibrium pressure scalar and reduce it to the differential equation of the second order in time derivatives. We show that this master equation can be considered as the relativistic analog of the Burgers equation, which is known in the classical theory of viscoelasticity. We obtain the nonlinear key equatio…
In this work we reconsider the solution describing black holes surrounded by a `quintessence'-like fluid. This geometry was introduced by Kiselev in 2003 and its physical source was originally modeled by an anisotropic fluid. We show that the Kiselev geometry is actually an exact solution of the Einstein equations coupled to nonlinear electrodynamics. More specifically, we show that the Kiselev geometry becomes an exact solution in the context of power-Maxwell electrodynamics, using either an electric ansatz or a magnetic one. In both cases the physical source can be modeled by a power-Maxwell…
We perform a comprehensive study of the signatures of Lorentz violation in electrodynamics on the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropies. In the framework of the minimal Standard Model Extension (SME), we consider effects generated by renormalizable operators, both CPT-odd and CPT-even. These operators are responsible for sourcing, respectively, cosmic birefringence and circular polarization. We propagate jointly the effects of all the relevant Lorentz-violating parameters to CMB observables and provide constraints with the most recent CMB datasets. We bound the CPT-even coefficient to…
Unified Dark Fluid with Constant Adiabatic Sound Speed and Cosmic Constraints
After reviewing the meaning of various equivalence principles and the structure of electrodynamics, we give a fairly detailed account of the construction of the light cone and a core metric from the equivalence principle for the photon (no birefringence, no polarization rotation and no amplification/attenuation in propagation) in the framework of linear electrodynamics using cosmic connections/observations as empirical support. The cosmic nonbirefringent propagation of photons independent of energy and polarization verifies the Galileo Equivalence Principle [Universality of Propagation] for ph…
The hypothesis of cosmic censorship plays a crucial role in classical general relativity, namely, to ensure that naked singularities would never occur from the black hole singularity. In this paper, we will present how energy conditions prohibit forming the naked singularity in the spherical perfect fluid collapse, and thus the strong cosmic censorship conjecture hold in this model. We also show that this result can be extended to the cosmological constant background.
We investigate the appropriateness of the use of different Lagrangians to describe various components of the cosmic energy budget, discussing the degeneracies between them in the absence of nonminimal couplings to gravity or other fields, and clarifying some misconceptions in the literature. We further demonstrate that these degeneracies are generally broken for nonminimal coupled fluids, in which case the identification of the appropriate on-shell Lagrangian may become essential in order characterize the overall dynamics. We then show that models with the same on-shell Lagrangian may have dif…
In the standard model of cosmology, the background evolution of the Universe can in general be adequately described by general relativity and a uniform and isotropic metric minimally coupled with a collection of perfect fluids. These fluids are usually described by their energy-momentum tensor, which can be derived from the fluid's Lagrangian density. Under general relativity, the Lagrangian density is only relevant to the extent that it results in the correct energy-momentum tensor for a specific perfect fluid. This is not the case in theories that feature a nonminimal coupling (NMC) between …
The work deals with the thermodynamical aspects of the cosmic substratum which is dissipative in nature. For homogeneous and isotropic model of the Universe this dissipative phenomenon is effective bulk viscous pressure in nature and is related to the particle creation mechanism. Finally, the stability criteria for the thermal equilibrium has been analyzed and are presented in tabular form restricting the particle creation parameter or the variation of the equation of state parameter with the volume.
A method for constructing statistically homogeneous and isotropic perfect fluid universe models with significant cosmic backreaction is proposed. The method is illustrated using a simplified model constructed as a Swiss-cheese model with Lemaitre-Tolman-Bondi structures. The model exhibits significant cosmic backreaction and is used to study methods proposed in the literature for relating volume averaged quantities with observations. The comparison shows a poor agreement between exact redshift-distance relations and the relations predicted by schemes based on volume averages. Most of these dev…
This paper is devoted to investigate the thermodynamic stability of a generic cosmological fluid known as Van der Waals fluid in the context of flat FRW universe. It is treated as a perfect fluid that obeys the equation of state $P=\frac{γρ}{1-βρ}-αρ^{2}, 0\leqγ<1$, where $ρ$ stands for energy density and $P$ stands for pressure of the fluid. In this regard, we discuss the behavior of physical parameters to analyze the evolution of the universe. We investigate whether the cosmological scenario fulfills the third law of thermodynamics using specific heat formalism. Next we discuss the thermal e…
In this work, I study the non-linear QED effects to the Maxwell equations due to the interaction of the electromagnetic waves with an external magnetic field with arbitrary direction with respect to the direction of propagation of the electromagnetic waves. I show that in the case when the external magnetic field has a longitudinal component with respect to the electromagnetic wave direction of propagation, a longitudinal photon state is generated in a magnetized vacuum. The mixing of transverse and longitudinal photon states causes a decrease in the group velocity with respect to the velocity…
In this paper, we investigate the existence and time evolution of the cosmological and event horizons in a McVittie universe whose expansion is driven by the Redlich-Kwong, (Modified) Berthelot, Dieterici, and Peng-Robinson fluids, respectively. The equations of state of these fluids are rich enough to account for both exotic and regular, as well as ideal and non-ideal matter contents of the universe. We show that the cosmological horizon is expanding, while the event horizon is shrinking along the cosmic time evolution. The former achieves larger size for regular types of matter, contrary to …
A one-component dark energy fluid model of the late universe is considered ($w<-1$) when the fluid, initially assumed laminar, makes a transition into a turbulent state of motion. Spatial isotropy is assumed so that only the bulk viscosities are included ($ζ$ in the laminar epoch and $ζ_{\rm turb}$ in the turbulent epoch). Both viscosities are assumed to be constants. We derive a formula, new as far as we know, for the time dependence of the temperature $T(t)$ in the laminar case when viscosity is included. Assuming that the laminar/turbulent transition takes place at some time $t_s$ before th…
Some dark energy cosmological models are constructed in the framework of a generalised Brans-Dicke theory which contains a self interacting potential and a dynamical coupling parameter. The dark sector of the universe is considered through a unified linear equation of state. The parameters of the unified dark fluid have been constrained from some physical basis. Since the universe is believed to have undergone a transition from an early deceleration to a late time acceleration, the deceleration parameter should have a signature flipping behaviour at the transition redshift. We have used a hybr…
