In this work, we study the gravitational lensing of Euler-Heisenberg black hole surrounded by perfect fluid dark matter. This kind of black hole solution enables us to investigate the nontrivial interplay between the dark matter effects and nonlinear electrodynamics effects (or quantum electrodynamics effects) on charged black hole systems. The important observables in gravitational lensings are calculated and discussed in our work, including the gravitational deflection angle of light and time delay of light. Additionally, we also explore the massive orbit's bound orbits (and their precession angles) and black hole shadow radius for Euler-Heisenberg black hole in the presence of dark matter. The results indicate that the Euler-Heisenberg black hole with a larger perfect fluid dark matter parameter could greatly reduce the gravitational deflection angle of light, time delay of light, and precession angle of massive object's bound orbit, while the nonlinear electrodynamics effects do not have large influences on these observables.

We study the optical properties of the Kehagias-Sfetsos (KS) compact objects, characterized by the "Hořava" parameter $ω_{_{KS}}$, in the presence of plasma, considering its homogeneous or power-law density distribution. The strong effects of both "Hořava" parameter $ω_{_{KS}}$ and plasma on the shadow cast by the KS compact objects are demonstrated. Using the weak field approximation, we investigate the gravitational lensing effect. Strong dependence of the deflection angle of the light on both the "Hořava" and plasma parameter is explicitly shown. The magnification of image source due to the…
In this paper, an exact solution of Kerr black hole surrounded by a cloud of strings in Rastall gravity is obtained by Newman-Janis algorithm without complexification, and the influence of the string parameter $a_0$ on the black hole thermodynamics is studied. Furthermore, according to this black hole solution, we investigate the effect of a cloud of strings on gravitational deflection of massive particles. For a receiver and a source at infinite distance from the lens object, we use an osculating Riemannian manifold method. While the distance is finite, we apply the generalized Jacobi metric …
The absorption section of black holes surrounded by scalar fields is studied with the sinc approximation in the eikonal limit. The effects of the scalar field on the nonlinear Euler-Heisenberg, the magnetic Bardeen and Reissner-Nordstrom BHs are studied in order to obtain information about how the scalar field affects different BHs.

In this paper, we mainly aim at highlighting the importance of (hyper-)elliptic integrals in the study of gravitational effects caused by strongly gravitating systems. For this, we study the application of elliptic integrals in calculating the light deflection as it passes a plasmic medium, surrounding a charged Weyl black hole. To proceed with this, we consider two specific algebraic ansatzes for the plasmic refractive index, and we characterize the photon sphere for each of the cases. This will be used further to calculate the angular diameter of the corresponding black hole shadow. We show …

In this manuscript, we consider a deformation on the Heisenberg algebra and investigate the effects on the thermodynamics of the Schwarzschild black hole that is surrounded by quintessence matter. To this end, we obtain the temperature, entropy, and heat capacity functions of the black hole by using the standard laws of thermodynamic according to the considered deformation. We show that upper and lower bound values appear on these functions based on the quintessence and deformed algebra. Then, we derive the corrected density of quintessence matter and the black hole's equation of state functio…
We investigate the strong gravitational lensing of spherically symmetric black holes in the novel Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet(EGB) gravity surrounded by unmagnetised plasma medium. The deflection angle in the strong deflection limit in EGB spacetime with homogeneous plasma is derived. We find that both the coupling constant $α$ in the novel EGB gravity and the presence of plasma can affect the radius of photon sphere, strong field limit coefficient and other lensing observables significantly. While plasma has little effect on the angular image separation and the relative magnifications as $α/M^2\to …
We investigate the gravitational lensing scenario due to Schwarzschild-like black hole surrounded by quintessence (Kiselev black hole). We work for the special case of Kiselev black hole where we take the state parameter $w_{q}=-\frac{2}{3}$. For the detailed derivation and analysis of the bending angle involved in the deflection of light, we discuss three special cases of Kiselev black hole: non-extreme, extreme and naked singularity. We also calculate the approximate bending angle and compare it with exact bending angle. We found the relation of bending angles in the decreasing order as: nak…
We have studied the shadows of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by a Bach-Weyl ring through the backward ray-tracing method. The presence of Bach-Weyl ring leads to that the photon dynamical system is non-integrable and then chaos would appear in the photon motion, which affects sharply the black hole shadow. The size and shape the black hole shadow depend on the black hole parameter, the Bach-Weyl ring mass and the Weyl radius between black hole and ring. Some self-similar fractal structures also appear in the black hole shadow, which originates from the chaotic lensing. We also study th…

In Einstein-Æther theory, the Lorentz symmetry is locally broken in the high-energy regime due to the presence of theÆther field. This shall leave significant imprint on astronomical observation. In this paper, we investigate the optical appearance of two types of the static and spherically symmetric black holes in Einstein-Æther theory. Via Euler-Lagrange equation, we obtain the equations of motion of the photon and calculate the total deflection angle of the photon trajectory around the black hole. By classifying the light rays with the total number of orbits, we study the effects of couplin…
We develop a model of gravitational lensing in a non-uniform plasma. When a gravitating body is surrounded by a plasma, the lensing angle depends on the frequency of the electromagnetic wave, due to dispersion properties of plasma, in presence of a plasma inhomogeneity, and of a gravity. The second effect leads, even in a uniform plasma, to a difference of the gravitational photon deflection angle from the vacuum case, and to its dependence on the photon frequency. We take into account both effects, and derive the expression for the lensing angle in the case of a strongly nonuniform plasma in …

In this paper, by exploring the photon motion in the region near the Bardeen black hole, the shadow and observation properties of the black hole surrounded by various accretion models are studied. We analyzed the changes in shadow imaging and observation luminosity when the relevant physical parameters are changed. For the different spherical accretions background, one can find that the radius of shadow and the position of photon sphere do not change, but the observation intensity of shadow in the infalling accretion model is significantly lower than that of the static case. When the black hol…
We investigate the influence of plasma presence on relativistic images formed by Schwarzschild black hole lensing. When a gravitating body is surrounded by a plasma, the lensing angle depends on a frequency of the electromagnetic wave due to refraction properties, and the dispersion properties of the light propagation in gravitational field in plasma. The last effect leads to difference, even in uniform plasma, of gravitational deflection angle in plasma from vacuum case. This angle depends on the photon frequency, what resembles the properties of the refractive prism spectrometer. Here we con…
In this work we extend the approach used in [Emanuel Gallo and Osvaldo M. Moreschi, Phys. Rev. D 83, 12 083007 (2011)] to the study of weak gravitational lensing in a plasma medium. First, we present expressions for the deflection angle and optical scalars in terms of the components of the energy-momentum tensor for spherically symmetric lenses surrounded by a cold non-magnetized plasma. Second, we show that the same expressions can be deduced using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. Finally, we establish a correspondence between the spatial orbits of photons in a non-homogeneous plasma and the non-geo…
In this paper, under the illumination of thin disk accretion, we have employed the ray-tracing method to carefully investigate shadows and rings of the Kehagias-Sfetsos(KS) black hole in deformed Hořava-Lifshitz(HL) gravity. The results show that the event horizon $r_+$, the radius $r_p$ and impact parameter $b_{p}$ of photon sphere are all decreased with the increase of the HL parameter $ω$, but the effective potential increases. And, it also turns out that the trajectories of light rays emitted from the north pole direction are defined as the direct emission, lensing ring and photon ring of …
Gravitational lensing is predicted by general relativity and is found in observations. When a gravitating body is surrounded by a plasma, the lensing angle depends on a frequency of the electromagnetic wave due to refraction properties, and the dispersion properties of the light propagation in plasma. The last effect leads to dependence, even in the uniform plasma, of the lensing angle on the frequency, what resembles the properties of the refractive prism spectrometer. The strongest action of this spectrometer is for the frequencies slightly exceeding the plasma frequency, what corresponds to…
We consider a static, axially symmetric spacetime describing the superposition of a Schwarzschild black hole (BH) with a thin and heavy accretion disk. The BH-disk configuration is a solution of the Einstein field equations within the Weyl class. The disk is sourced by a distributional energy-momentum tensor and it is located at the equatorial plane. It can be interpreted as two streams of counter-rotating particles, yielding a total vanishing angular momentum. The phenomenology of the composed system depends on two parameters: the fraction of the total mass in the disk, $m$, and the location …
The null geodesics of the regular and rotating magnetically charged black hole in a non-minimally coupled Einstein-Yang-Mills theory surrounded by a plasma medium is studied. The effect of magnetic charge and Yang-Mills parameter on the effective potential and radius of photon orbits has investigated. We then study the shadow of a regular and rotating magnetically charged black hole along with the observables in presence of the plasma medium. The presence of plasma medium affects the apparent size of the shadow of a regular rotating black hole in comparison to vacuum case. Variation of shadow …
We consider the observational properties of a static black hole space-time immersed in a dark matter envelope. We thus investigate how the modifications to geometry, induced by the presence of dark matter affect the luminosity of the black hole's accretion disk. We show that the same disk's luminosity produced by a black hole in vacuum may be produced by a smaller black hole if surrounded by dark matter under certain conditions. In particular, we demonstrate that the luminosity of the disk is markedly altered by dark matter's presence, suggesting that mass estimation of distant super-massive b…
Due to the gravitational lensing effect, a black hole casts a shadow larger than its horizon over a bright background, and the shape and size can be calculated. The Event Horizon Telescope collaboration has produced the first direct image (shadow) of the black hole and it is in accordance with the shadow of a Kerr black hole of general relativity. However, deviations from the Kerr black hole arising from modified theories of gravity are not ruled out and they are important as they offer an arena to test these theories through astrophysical observation. This stimulates us to investigate rotatin…
We study the gravitational lensing scenario where the lens is a spherically symmetric charged black hole (BH) surrounded by quintessence matter. The null geodesic equations in the curved background of the black hole are derived. The resulting trajectory equation is solved analytically via perturbation and series methods for special choice of parameters and the distance of the closest approach to black hole is calculated. We also derive the lens equation giving the bending angle of light in the curved background. In the strong field approximation, the solution of the lens equation is also obtai…
Thanks for the releasing image of supermassive black holes (BHs) by the event horizon telescope (EHT) at the heart of the $M87$ galaxy. After the discovery of this mysterious object, scientists paid attention to exploring the BH shadow features under different gravitational backgrounds. In this scenario, we study the light rings and observational properties of BH shadow surrounded by different accretion flow models and then investigate the effect of model parameters on the observational display and space-time structure of BHs in the framework of our considering system. Under the incompatible c…

In this article, we present an overview of the new developments in problems of the plasma influence on the effects of gravitational lensing, complemented by pieces of new material and relevant discussions. Deflection of light in the presence of gravity and plasma is determined by a complex combination of various physical phenomena: gravity, dispersion, refraction. In particular, the gravitational deflection itself, in a homogeneous plasma without refraction, differs from the vacuum one and depends on the frequency of the photon. In an inhomogeneous plasma, chromatic refraction also takes place…
Considering a Kerr black hole surrounded by the homogenous unmagnetised plasma medium, we study the strong gravitational lensing on the equatorial plane of the Kerr black hole. We find that the presence of the uniform plasma increases the photon-sphere radius $r_{ps}$, the coefficient $\bar{a},\bar{b}$, the angular position of the relativistic images $θ_{\infty}$, the deflection angle $α(θ)$ and the angular separation $s$. However the relative magnitudes $r_m$ decrease in presence of the uniform plasma medium. It is also shown that the impact of the uniform plasma on the effect of strong gravi…

The event horizon of a charged black hole is, according to Ruffini\cite{Ruffini} and Preparata \emph{et al.}\cite{PreparataEtAl}, surrounded by a special region called the \emph{dyadosphere} where the electromagnetic field exceeds the Euler-Heisenberg critical value for electron-positron pair production. We obtain the energy distribution in the dyadosphere region for a Reissner-Nordström black hole. We find that the energy-momentum prescriptions of Einstein, Landau-Lifshitz, Papapetrou, and Weinberg give the same and acceptable energy distribution.

Electromagnetic rays travel on curved paths under the influence of gravity. When a dispersive optical medium is included, these trajectories are frequency-dependent. In this work we consider the behaviour of rays when a spherically symmetric, luminous compact object described by the Schwarzschild metric is surrounded by an optically thin shell of plasma supported by radiation pressure. Such levitating atmospheres occupy a position of stable radial equilibrium, where radiative flux and gravitational effects are balanced. Using general relativity and an inhomogeneous plasma we find the existence…
The massive black hole at the Galactic center Sgr A* is surrounded by a cluster of stars orbiting around it. Light from these stars is bent by the gravitational field of the black hole, giving rise to several phenomena: astrometric displacement of the primary image, the creation of a secondary image that may shift the centroid of Sgr A*, magnification effects on both images. The near-to-come second generation VLTI instrument GRAVITY will perform observations in the Near Infrared of the Galactic Center at unprecedented resolution, opening the possibility of observing such effects. Here we inves…

There are compelling reasons to believe that the dark matter of the universe is constituted, in large part, by non-baryonic collisionless particles with very small primordial velocity dispersion. Such particles are called cold dark matter (CDM). The leading candidates are axions and weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). The word ``collisionless'' indicates that the particles are so weakly interacting that they move purely under the influence of gravity. Galaxies are surrounded by CDM and hence, because of gravity, CDM keeps falling onto galaxies from all directions. CDM infall produces…
