The p-variate gamma distribution in the sense of Krishnamoorthy and Parthasarathy exists for all positive integer degrees of freedom d and at least for all real values d > p-2, p > 1. For special structures of the "associated" covariance matrix it also exists for all positive d. In this paper a relation between central and non-central multivariate gamma distributions is shown, which implies the existence of the p-variate gamma distribution at least for all non-integer d greater than the integer part of (p-1)/2 without any additional assumptions for the associated covariance matrix.
In this paper, we consider the nonparametric estimation of the multivariate probability density function and its partial derivative with a support on $[0,\infty)$. To this end we use the class of kernel estimators with asymmetric gamma kernel functions. The gamma kernels are nonnegative. They change their shape depending on the position on the semi-axis and are robust to the boundary bias problem. We investigate the mean integrated squared error (MISE) assuming dependent data with strong mixing and find the optimal bandwidth of the kernel as a minimum of the MISE. We derive the bias, the varia…
Weak variance generalised gamma convolution processes are multivariate Brownian motions weakly subordinated by multivariate Thorin subordinators. Within this class, we extend a result from strong to weak subordination that a driftless Brownian motion gives rise to a self-decomposable process. Under moment conditions on the underlying Thorin measure, we show that this condition is also necessary. We apply our results to some prominent processes such as the weak variance alpha-gamma process, and illustrate the necessity of our moment conditions in some cases.
The Gaussian product inequality is an important conjecture concerning the moments of Gaussian random vectors. While all attempts to prove the Gaussian product inequality in full generality have been unsuccessful to date, numerous partial results have been derived in recent decades and we provide here further results on the problem. Most importantly, we establish a strong version of the Gaussian product inequality for multivariate gamma distributions in the case of nonnegative correlations, thereby extending a result recently derived by Genest and Ouimet [5]. Further, we show that the Gaussian …
For each $λ>0$ and every square-integrable infinitely-divisible (ID) distribution there exists at least one stationary stochastic process $t\mapsto X_t$ with the specified distribution for $X_1$ and with first-order autoregressive (AR(1)) structure in the sense that the autocorrelation of $X_s$ and $X_t$ is $\exp(-λ|s-t|)$ for all indices $s,t$. For the special case of the standard Normal distribution, the process $X_t$ is unique -- namely, the first-order autoregressive Ornstein-Uhlenbeck velocity process. The process $X_t$ is also uniquely determined if $X_1$ is accorded the unit rate Poisso…
In this paper, we introduce the degenerate gamma random variables which are connected with the degenerate gamma functions and the degenerate exponential functions, and deduce the expectation and variance of those random variables.
Multivariate Jacobi and Laguerre polynomials, infinite-dimensional extensions, and their probabilistic connections with multivariate Hahn and Meixner polynomials
In the paper, the authors introduce a matrix-parametrized generalization of the multinomial probability mass function that involves a ratio of several multivariate gamma functions. They show the logarithmic complete monotonicity of this generalization and derive new inequalities involving ratios of multivariate gamma functions.
This note is concerned with the so-called superconcentration phenomenon. It shows that the Bakry-Emery's Gamma calculus can provide relevant bound on the variance of function satisfying a inverse, integrated, curvature criterion. As an illustration, we present some variance bounds for the Free Energy in different models from Spin Glasses Theory.
