Lepton flavour universality (LFU) in B-decays is revisited by considering a class of semileptonic operators defined at a scale Lambda above the electroweak scale v. The importance of quantum effects, so far neglected in the literature, is emphasised. We construct the low-energy effective Lagrangian taking into account the running effects from Lambda down to v through the one-loop renormalization group equations (RGE) in the limit of exact electroweak symmetry and QED RGEs from v down to the 1 GeV scale. The most important quantum effects turn out to be the modification of the leptonic couplings of the vector boson Z and the generation of a purely leptonic effective Lagrangian. Large LFU breaking effects in Z and tau decays and visible lepton flavour violating (LFV) effects in the processes tau -> mu ll, tau -> mu rho, tau -> mu pi and tau -> mu eta^(') are induced.
We introduce a novel realization of the open heavy-flavour hadroproduction in general-mass variable flavour number scheme at next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. The principal novelty with respect to the earlier works is in the treatment of small-transverse-momentum limit, which has been a particularly challenging kinematic region in the past. We show that by a suitable choice of scheme, it is possible to obtain a well-behaved description of the open heavy-flavour hadroproduction cross sections from zero up to asymptotically high transverse momentum. We contrast our calculation with the …
The coupling of the electroweak gauge bosons of the Standard Model (SM) to leptons is flavour universal. Extensions of the SM do not necessarily have this property. Rare decays of heavy flavour are suppressed in the SM and new particles may give sizeable contributions to these processes, therefore, their precise study allows for sensitive tests of lepton flavour universality. Of particular interest are rare b to sll decays that are well accessible at the LHCb experiment. Recent results from LHCb on lepton flavour universality in rare b to sll decays are discussed.
In the Standard Model (SM), the coupling of the electroweak gauge bosons to the leptons is lepton flavour universal. Tests of this property constitute sensitive probes for new physics models that violate lepton flavour universality. Recent tests of lepton universality in rare $b\to s\ell\ell$ decays and semileptonic $b\to cτ\barν_τ$ transitions have shown some tensions with the precise SM predictions. These proceedings summarise the latest results on lepton flavour universality from the LHCb experiment.
Semileptonic $b \rightarrow s\ell \ell$ processes constitute a good probe for new physics phenomena: new particles contributing to the loops could affect branching fractions and angular distributions, and have different couplings to different lepton families, thus violating lepton flavour universality. Recent results from the LHCb experiment are reviewed.
After a brief review of the minimal flavour violation hypothesis and its implementation in the MSSM, the most general parametrisation of the soft supersymmetry-breaking terms by means of the charged lepton and neutrino spurions is constructed. Thereby a type I seesaw mechanism is assumed to generate neutrino masses. This expansion introduces several new CP-violating phases, whose effects on the leptonic electric dipole moments are investigated.
Recent results from the LHC's first run have revealed intriguing departures from lepton flavour universality in the semi-leptonic decays of $B$-mesons. We discuss the complementary role that rare kaon decays can provide in testing new physics explanations of these flavour anomalies. In the framework of minimal flavour violation, we relate the chiral low-energy constants involved in $K\toπ\ell\ell'$ and $K\to\ell\ell'$ ($\ell = μ\mbox{ or } e$) with the new physics Wilson coefficients of the $b\to s$ effective Hamiltonian. We comment on the determination of these low-energy constants at NA62 an…
The Standard Model of particle physics predicts that charged leptons have the same electroweak interaction strength. This symmetry, called lepton flavour universality, was found to hold in a wide range of particle decays. One observable that is sensitive to lepton flavour universality is the ratio of branching fractions $R_K=\mathcal B(B^+\to K^+μ^+μ^-)$ $/$ $\mathcal B(B^+\to K^+e^+e^-)$. This quantity is measured using $9$ fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. For the dilepton invariant mass squared range $q^2\in(1.1$ $\tex…
The singly charged $SU(2)_L$ singlet scalar, with its necessarily flavour violating couplings to leptons, lends itself particularly well for an explanation of the Cabibbo Angle Anomaly and of hints for lepton flavour universality violation in $τ\to μ\bar νν$. In a setup addressing both anomalies, we predict loop-induced effects in $τ\to eγ$ and in $τ\to eμμ$. A recast of ATLAS selectron and smuon searches allows us to derive a coupling-independent lower limit of $\approx 200$ GeV on the mass of the singly charged singlet scalar. At a future $e^+e^-$ collider, dark matter mono-photon searches c…
We propose a novel method to probe the persistent hints of Lepton Flavour Universality violation observed in semileptonic $B$ decays. Relying on the specific properties of the Belle II experiment, it consists in comparing the inclusive rates of $Υ(4S) \to e^\pm μ^\mp X$, $Υ(4S) \to μ^\pm τ_{\rm had}^\mp X$ and $Υ(4S) \to e^\pm τ_{\rm had}^\mp X$. We show that such a measurement can be directly related to the ratio $R(X)_{τ\ell} \equiv Γ(b\to X τν) / Γ(b \to X \ell ν)$ ($\ell=e$ or $μ$), once appropriate experimental cuts are applied to suppress the effects of neutral $B$ mixing and leptons emi…
The Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation (MLFV) framework is discussed after the recent indication for CP violation in the leptonic sector. Among the three distinct versions of MLFV, the one with degenerate right-handed neutrinos will be disfavoured, if this indication is confirmed. The predictions for leptonic radiative rare decays and muon conversion in nuclei are analysed, identifying strategies to disentangle the different MLFV scenarios. The claim that the present anomalies in the semi-leptonic $B$-meson decays can be explained within the MLFV context is critically re-examined concluding that…
Several experiments observed deviations from the Standard Model (SM) in the flavour sector: LHCb found a $4-5\,σ$ discrepancy compared to the SM in $b\to sμ^+μ^-$ transitions (recently supported by an Belle analysis) and CMS reported a non-zero measurement of $h\toμτ$ with a significance of $2.4\,σ$. Furthermore, BELLE, BABAR and LHCb founds hints for the violation of flavour universality in $B\to D^{(*)}τν$. In addition, there is the long-standing discrepancy in the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. Interestingly, all these anomalies are related to muons and taus, while the corresponding…
In this review, we present a derivation of the on-shell renormalization conditions for scalar and fermionic fields in theories with and without parity conservation. We also discuss the specifics of Majorana fermions. Our approach only assumes a canonical form for the renormalized propagators and exploits the fact that the inverse propagators are non-singular in $\varepsilon = p^2 - m_n^2$, where $p$ is the external four-momentum and $m_n$ is a pole mass. In this way, we obtain full agreement with commonly used on-shell conditions. We also discuss how they are implemented in renormalization.
The flavour messenger sectors and their impact on the soft SUSY breaking terms are investigated in SUSY flavour models. In the case when the flavour scale M is below the SUSY breaking mediation scale M_S, the universality of soft terms, even if assumed at M_S, is radiatively broken. We estimate this effect in a broad class of models. In the CKM basis that effect gives flavour off-diagonal soft masses comparable to the tree-level estimate based on the flavour symmetry.
We analyze in detail the angular distributions in $\bar{B}\to D^*\ell \barν$ decays, with a focus on lepton-flavour non-universality. We investigate the minimal number of angular observables that fully describes current and upcoming datasets, and explore their sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) in the most general weak effective theory. We apply our findings to the current datasets, extract the non-redundant set of angular observables from the data, and compare to precise SM predictions that include lepton-flavour universality violating mass effects. Our analysis shows that…
LHCb found hints for physics beyond the standard model in $B\to K^*μ^+μ^-$, $B\to K^*μ^+μ^-/B\to K^*e^+e^-$ and $B_s\toϕμ^+μ^-$. In addition, the BABAR results for $B\to D^{(*)}τν$ and the CMS excess in $h\toτ^\pmμ^\mp$ also point towards lepton flavour (universality) violating new physics. While $B\to D^{(*)}τν$ and $h\toτ^\pmμ^\mp$ can be naturally explained by an extended Higgs sector, the probably most promising explanation for the $b\to sμμ$ anomalies is a $Z'$ boson. Furthermore, combining a 2HDM with a gauged $L_μ-L_τ$ symmetry allows for explaining the $b\to sμ^+μ^-$ anomalies and $h\t…
Radiative corrections to $B \to D \ell ν_{\ell}$ decays can have an impact on predictions and measurements of the lepton universality ratios $\mathcal{R}(D^+)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^0)$. These proceedings summarise a study on the comparison between recent calculations of soft-photon corrections on these ratios and the corrections simulated by the PHOTOS package. Also the impact of Coulomb interactions, not simulated in PHOTOS, is discussed. Using pseudo-experiments, the effect of high-energy photon emission is studied in an LHCb-like environment, showing a bias of up to 7\% on measurements of $\m…
We analyse the violations of lepton-flavour universality in the ratios B(P -> l nu)/B(P -> l' nu) using a general effective theory approach, discussing various flavour-symmetry breaking patterns of physics beyond the SM. We find that in models with Minimal Lepton Flavour Violation the effects are too small to be observed in the next generations of experiments in all relevant meson systems (P = Pi, K, B). In a Grand Unified framework with a minimal breaking of the flavour symmetry, the effects remain small in Pi and K decays while large violations of lepton-flavour universality are possible in …
We investigate the generation of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe within a SUSY SU(5) x T' model of flavour, which gives rise to realistic masses and mixing patterns for quarks and leptons. The model employs the see-saw mechanism for generation of the light neutrino masses and the baryon asymmetry is produced via leptogenesis. We perform detailed calculations of both the CP violating lepton asymmetries, originating from the decays of the heavy Majorana neutrinos operative in the see-saw mechanism, and of the efficiency factors which account for the lepton asymmetry wash-out processes in th…
The LHCb collaboration has recently presented their result on R_K = BR(B+ -> K+ mu+ mu-)/ BR(B+ -> K+ e+ e-) for the dilepton invariant mass bin m_{ll}^2 = 1-6 GeV^2 (l = mu, e). The measurement shows an intriguing 2.6 sigma deviation from the Standard Model (SM) prediction. In view of this, we study model independent New Physics (NP) explanations of R_K consistent with other measurements involving b -> s l l transition, relaxing the assumption of lepton universality. We perform a Bayesian statistical fit to the NP Wilson Coefficients and compare the Bayes Factors of the different hypotheses i…
Radiative corrections to $B \to D \ell ν_{\ell}$ decays may have an impact on predictions and measurements of the lepton flavour universality observables $\mathcal{R}(D^+)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^0)$. In this paper, a comparison between recent calculations of the effect of soft-photon corrections on $\mathcal{R}(D^+)$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^0)$, and corrections generated by the widely used package PHOTOS is given. The impact of long-distance Coulomb interactions, which are not simulated in PHOTOS, is discussed. Furthermore, the effect of high-energy photon emission is studied through pseudo-experiment…
In this letter we propose a strategy for discerning if new physics in the Wilson coefficient ${\cal C}_{9μ}$ is dominantly lepton flavour universality violating or if it contains a sizable lepton flavour universal component (${\cal C}_9^{\rm U}$). Distinguishing among these two cases, for which the model independent fit of the related scenarios exhibits similar pulls w.r.t. the Standard Model, is crucial to advance our understanding of the $B$ anomalies. We first identify the origin of the degeneracy of these two cases and point out the key observables that can break it. In particular, while t…
The $B\to K^*μμ$ decay exhibits deviations with respect to Standard Model expectations and the measurement of the ratio $R_K$ hints at a violation of lepton-flavour universality in $B\to K\ell\ell$ transitions. Both effects can be understood in model-independent fits as a short-distance contribution to the Wilson coefficient $C_{9μ}$, with some room for similar contributions in other Wilson coefficients for $b\to sμμ$ transitions. We discuss how a full angular analysis of $B\to K^*ee$ and its comparison with $B\to K^*μμ$ could improve our understanding of these anomalies and help confirming th…
Rare semileptonic $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ transitions provide some of the most promising frameworks to search for new physics effects. Recent analyses of these decays have indicated an anomalous behaviour in measurements of angular distributions of the decay $B^0\to K^*μ^+μ^-$ and lepton-flavour-universality observables. Unambiguously establishing if these deviations have a common nature is of paramount importance in order to understand the observed pattern. We propose a novel approach to independently and complementary probe this hypothesis by performing a simultaneous amplitude analysis of $…
A properly defined and suitably broken $U(2)$ flavour symmetry leads to successful quantitative relations between quark mass ratios and CKM angles. At the same time the intrinsic distinction introduced by $U(2)$ between the third and the first two families of quarks and leptons may support anomalies in charged and neutral current semi-leptonic $B$-decays of the kind tentatively observed in current flavour experiments. We show how this is possible by the exchange of the $(3,1)_{2/3}$ vector leptoquark in two $U(2)$-models with significantly different values of Lepton Flavour Universality violat…
We investigate whether the $2.6σ$ deviation from lepton flavour universality in $B^+\to K^+\ell^+\ell^-$ decays recently observed at the LHCb experiment can be explained in minimal composite Higgs models. We show that a visible departure from universality is indeed possible if left-handed muons have a sizable degree of compositeness. Constraints from $Z$-pole observables are avoided by a custodial protection of the muon coupling. The deficit in the invisible $Z$ width at LEP is explained in the same region of parameters.
Lepton Flavour Universality tests with semileptonic $Λ_b\toΛ_c^*$ decays are important to corroborate the present anomalies in the similar ratios $R_{D^{(*)}}$, and can provide complementary constraints on possible origins of these anomalies beyond the Standard Model. In this paper we provide - for the first time - all the necessary theoretical ingredients to perform and interpret measurements of $R_{Λ_c^*}$ at the LHCb experiment. For this, we revisit the heavy-quark expansion of the relevant hadronic matrix elements, and provide their expressions to order $α_s$ and $1/m$ accuracy. Moreover, …
We present Standard Model predictions for lepton flavour universality ratios of inclusive $B\to X_{(c)} \ell \barν_\ell$. For the $\ell=μ,e$, these ratios are very close to unity as expected. For the $τ$ mode, we update the SM prediction for the branching ratio including power-corrections in the heavy-quark expansion up to $1/m_b^3$. These inclusive ratios serve as an important cross-check of the exclusive $B\to D^{(*)}\ell\barν_\ell$ modes, in which tensions exists between the predictions and measurements in those modes.
Data in $B$-meson decays indicate violations of lepton flavour universality, thereby raising the question about such phenomena in the charm sector. We perform a model-independent analysis of NP contributions in (semi)-leptonic decays of $D_{(s)}$ mesons which originate from $c \to d \bar{\ell} ν_{\ell}$ and $c \to s \bar{\ell} ν_{\ell}$ charge-current interactions. Starting from the most general low-energy effective Hamiltonian containing four-fermion operators and the corresponding short-distance coefficients, we explore the impact of new (pseudo)-scalar, vector and tensor operators and const…
Motivated by recent experimental measurements on flavour physics, in tension with Standard Model predictions, we perform an updated analysis of New Physics violating Lepton Flavour Universality, by using the effective Lagrangian approach and in the Z' and S_3 leptoquark models. We explicitly analyze the impact of considering complex Wilson coefficients in the analysis of B-anomalies, by performing a global fit of R_K and R_K*0 observables, together with ΔMs and A_CP^mix. The inclusion of complex couplings provides a slightly improved global fit, and a marginally improved ΔMs prediction.
We describe a possibility to explain the $2.6σ$ deviation from lepton flavour universality observed by the LHCb collaboration in $B^+\to K^+\ell^+\ell^-$ decays in the context of minimal composite Higgs models. We find that a sizable degree of compositeness of partially composite muons can lead to a good agreement with the experimental data. Our construction predicts a new physics contribution to $B_s$-$\bar{B}_s$ mixing. Additionally, it accounts for the deficit in the invisible $Z$ width measured at LEP.
Within the standard approach of effective field theory of weak interactions for $ΔB = 1$ transitions, we look for possibly unexpected subtle New Physics effects, here dubbed "flavourful Easter eggs". We perform a Bayesian global fit using the publicly available HEPfit package, taking into account state-of-the-art experimental information concerning these processes, including the suggestive measurements from LHCb of $R_{K}$ and $R_{K^{*}}$, the latter available only very recently. We parametrize New Physics contributions to $b \to s$ transitions in terms of shifts of Wilson coefficients of the …
Motivated by the measurements of $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ transitions, including $R(K)$ and $R(K^*)$, we examine lepton flavour (universality) violation in $B$ decays and its connections to $μ\to eγ$ in generic leptoquark models. Considering all 10 representations of scalar and vector leptoquarks under the Standard Model gauge group we compute the tree-level matching for semileptonic $b$-quark operators as well as their loop effects in $\ell\to\ell^\primeγ$. In our phenomenological analysis we correlate $R(K)$, $R(K^*)$ and the other $b\to sμ^+μ^-$ data to $μ\to eγ$ and $b\to sμe$ transitions for …
331 models constitute an extension of the Standard Model (SM) obtained by enlarging the SM gauge group $SU(3)_\text{C}\times SU(2)_\text{L}\times U(1)_Y$ to the group $SU(3)_\text{C}\times SU(3)_\text{L}\times U(1)_X$. We investigate how a non-minimal 331 model may embed lepton flavour universality violating contributions to $b\to s\ell\ell$ processes without introducing lepton flavour violation, as suggested by the recent LHCb measurements of the ratios $R_K$ and $R_{K^*}$. We discuss the model-independent scenarios of New Physics in $b\to s\ell\ell$ currently favoured by the data that could …
The persisting anomalous data in semileptonic B-decays point towards New Physics models exhibiting large sources of Lepton Flavour Universality Violation. In this work we generalise previous studies by considering frameworks which include an enlarged set of semileptonic four-fermion operators invariant under the SM gauge group, with New Physics affecting mainly the third generation. We derive the low-energy effective Lagrangian including the leading electroweak corrections, mandatory to obtain reliable predictions. As a particularly interesting case, we analyse the scenario where the dominant …
Leptoquarks are prime candidates for explaining the intriguing hints for lepton flavour universality violation. In particular, the $SU(2)_L$ doublet of scalar leptoquarks $S_2$ is capable of providing an explanation for the tensions between the measurements and the Standard Model predictions in $(g-2)_μ$, $b\to s\ell^+ \ell^-$ and $b\to cτν$ processes, as well as in non-resonant di-electron production. However, in the minimal setup with a single leptoquark generation, a common explanation for all these issues is not possible as this would lead to unacceptably large charged lepton flavour viola…
In recent years, evidence for lepton flavour universality violation beyond the Standard Model has been accumulated. In this context, a singly charged $SU(2)_L$ singlet scalar ($ϕ^\pm$) is very interesting, as it can only have flavour off-diagonal couplings to neutrinos and charged leptons, therefore necessarily violating lepton flavour (universality). In fact, it gives a (necessarily constructive) tree-level effect in $\ell\to\ell^\primeνν$ processes, while contributing to charged lepton flavour violating only at the loop-level. Therefore, it can provide a common explanation of the hints for n…
We investigate a gauge extension of the Standard Model in light of the observed hints of lepton universality violation in $b \to c \ell ν$ and $b \to s \ell^+ \ell^-$ decays at BaBar, Belle and LHCb. The model consists of an extended gauge group $\mathrm{SU(2)}_{1} \times \mathrm{SU(2)}_{2} \times \mathrm{U(1)}_Y$ which breaks spontaneously around the TeV scale to the electroweak gauge group. Fermion mixing effects with vector-like fermions give rise to potentially large new physics contributions in flavour transitions mediated by $W^{\prime}$ and $Z^{\prime}$ bosons. This model can ease tensi…
For one flavour, we observe that standard chiral random matrix models are schematic variants of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) models whether in vacuum or matter. The ensuing thermodynamics is that of constituent quarks, with mean-field universality in general. For two and three flavours non-standard chiral random matrix models with $U_A(1)$ breaking are suggested. For three flavours the transition is reminiscent of the isotropic-nematic transition in liquid crystals.
The evidence for Lepton Flavour Universality (LFU) violation in semileptonic $B$-decays has been rising over the past few years. Relying on generic effective field theory (EFT) results, it has been shown that models addressing the $B$-anomalies necessarily lead, at one-loop, to deviations from LFU in $τ$ decays at the few per-mil level. Once a (renormalizable) UV model is specified, the leading-log EFT result receives finite corrections from the matching at the UV scale. We discuss such corrections in a motivated class of models for the B-anomalies, based on an extended $SU(4) \times SU(3) \ti…
In light of prospects for measurements of $B_c \rightarrow D^{(\ast)} l ν$ decays in the upcoming Upgrade II of the LHC, we show that by using calculated $B_c \rightarrow D^{(\ast)}$ form factors competitive extraction of the $|V_{ub}|$ CKM matrix element from the $B_c \to D μ\barν_μ$ decay might be possible. To minimize experimental and theoretical uncertainties we provide the ratio $|V_{ub}|/|V_{cb}|$ by normalizing the $B_c \rightarrow D^{(\ast)} μ\barν_μ$ to $B_c \to J/ψμ\barν_μ$ decay. We also briefly examine the suggestion to extract $|V_{ub}|/|V_{cs}|$ from the theoretically interesting…
The interaction of neutrino transition magnetic dipole moments with magnetic fields can give rise to the phenomenon of neutrino spin-flavour precession (SFP). For Majorana neutrinos, the combined action of SFP of solar neutrinos and flavour oscillations would manifest itself as a small, yet potentially detectable, flux of electron antineutrinos coming from the Sun. Non-observation of such a flux constrains the product of the neutrino magnetic moment $μ$ and the strength of the solar magnetic field $B$. We derive a simple analytical expression for the expected $\barν_e$ appearance probability i…
We analyse the new physics implications of theoretically clean $b \to s$ observables in a model-independent approach and compare their coherence with the implications of other rare $B$-decays. A statistical comparison is done between the New Physics explanation and hadronic contributions as the source of the anomalies in angular observables of the $B\to K^*μμ$ decay. We make projections for future measurements that indicate that LHCb will be in the position to discover lepton non-universality via a single observable using the Run 3 data. The global fit of rare $B$-decays is given within a mult…
In the Standard Model of particle physics, charged leptons of different flavour couple to the electroweak force carriers with the same interaction strength. This property, known as lepton flavour universality, was found to be consistent with experimental evidence in a wide range of particle decays. Lepton flavour universality can be tested by comparing branching fractions in ratios such as $R_K = \mathcal{B}(B^+ \rightarrow K^+ μ^+ μ^-)/\mathcal{B}(B^+ \rightarrow K^+ e^+ e^-)$. This observable is measured using proton-proton collision data recorded with the LHCb detector at CERN's Large Hadro…
We analyse the rare processes $K \to πν\barν$ in view of the recent hints of violations of Lepton Flavour Universality (LFU) observed in B meson decays. If, as suggested by present data, the new interactions responsible for LFU violations couple mainly to the third generation of left-handed fermions, $K \to πν\barν$ decays turn out to be particularly interesting: these are the only kaon decays with third-generation leptons (the $τ$ neutrinos) in the final state. In order to relate B-physics anomalies and K decays we adopt an Effective Field Theory approach, assuming that the new interactions s…
We propose measurements of weighted differences of the angular observables in the rare decays $B \to K^*\ell^+\ell^-$. The proposed observables are very sensitive to the difference between the Wilson coefficients $\mathcal{C}_9^{(e)}$ and $\mathcal{C}_9^{(μ)}$ for decays into electrons and muons, respectively. At the same time, the charm-induced hadronic contributions are kinematically suppressed to $\lesssim 7\% (4\%)$ in the region $1\,$GeV$^2 \leq q^2 \leq 6\,$GeV$^2$, as long as LFU breaking occurs only in $\mathcal{C}^{(\ell)}_{9}$. This suppression becomes stronger for the region of low …
We present results of global fits of all relevant experimental data on rare $b \to s$ decays. We observe significant tensions between the Standard Model predictions and the data. After critically reviewing the possible sources of theoretical uncertainties, we find that within the Standard Model, the tensions could be explained if there are unaccounted hadronic effects much larger than our estimates. Assuming hadronic uncertainties are estimated in a sufficiently conservative way, we discuss the implications of the experimental results on new physics, both model independently as well as in the …
Leptoquarks are ubiquitous in several extensions of the Standard Model and seem to be able to accommodate the universality-violation-driven $B$-meson-decay anomalies and the $(g-2)_μ$ discrepancy interpreted as deviations from the Standard Model predictions. In addition, the search for lepton-flavour violation in the charged sector is, at present, a major research program that could also be facilitated by the dynamics generated by leptoquarks. In this article, we consider a rather wide framework of both scalar and vector leptoquarks as the generators of lepton-flavour violation in processes in…
We construct a semi-inclusive Lepton Flavour Universality (LFU) ratio, $R_Σ$, to test $μ/e$ universality in $b\to s\ell^+\ell^-$ transitions at $e^+e^-$ $B$-meson factories. Combining different decay channels, this observable maximises the sensitivity to possible LFU violations of short distance origin, yet preserving a clean theoretical interpretation in case of a deviation from its Standard Model prediction, $R_Σ^{\rm SM}=1$.

Within the context of composite Higgs models, recent hints on lepton-flavour non-universality in $B$ decays can be explained by a vector resonance $V$ with sizeable couplings to the Standard Model leptons ($\ell$). We argue that, in such a case, spin-$1/2$ leptonic resonances ($L$) are most probably light enough to open the decay mode $V \rightarrow L\ell$. This implies, in combination with the fact that couplings between composite resonances are much larger than those between composite and elementary fields, that this new decay can be important. In this paper, we explore under which condition…
The observation of neutrino oscillation as well as the recent experimental result on lepton flavor universality (LFU) violation in $B$ meson decays are indications of new physics beyond the Standard Model. Many theoretical models, which are introduced in the literature as an extension of SM to explain these observed deviations in LFU, lead to new kind of interactions so-called non-standard interaction (NSI) between the elementary particles. In this paper, we consider a model with an additional $Z'$ boson (which is quite successful in explaining the observed LFU anomalies) and analyze its effec…
We present a three-flavour fit to the recent νμ--> νe and νμ--> νμT2K oscillation data with different models for the neutrino-nucleus cross section. We show that, even for a limited statistics, the allowed regions and best fit points in the (θ_{13},δ_{CP}) and (θ_{23},Δm^2_{atm}) planes are affected if, instead of using the Fermi Gas model to describe the quasielastic cross section, we employ a model including the multinucleon emission channel.
