To elucidate the magnetic structure and the origin of the nematicity in FeSe, we perform a high-pressure $^{77}$Se NMR study on FeSe single crystals. We find a suppression of the structural transition temperature with pressure up to about 2 GPa from the anisotropy of the Knight shift. Above 2 GPa, a stripe-order antiferromagnetism that breaks the spatial four-fold rotational symmetry is determined by the NMR spectra under different field orientations and with temperatures down to 50 mK. The magnetic phase transition is revealed to be first-order type, implying the existence of a concomitant structural transition via a spin-lattice coupling. Stripe-type spin fluctuations are observed at high temperatures, and remain strong with pressure. These results provide clear evidences for strong coupling between nematicity and magnetism in FeSe, and therefore support a universal scenario of magnetic driven nematicity in iron-based superconductors.
We show that the superconducting transition temperature Tc of FeSe1-xTex can be computed to reasonable values in a modified McMillan approach in which the electron-phonon coupling is amplified by the antiferromagnetism and the out-of-plane phonons triggered by the tetrahedral lattice sites. This interplay is not only effective at ambient pressure, but also under hydrostatic compression. According to our model, the theoretical Tc of the compressed FeSe0.5Te0.5 agrees with experiment results. More importantly, by taking into account the interfacial effect between an FeSe monolayer and its SrTiO3…
Monolayer FeSe grown on SrTiO$_3$ provides a new playground for high-Tc superconductivity. A recent study shows the importance of stripy instability for superconductivity enhancement in FeSe/SrTiO3. However, it is still under debate whether such a stripe phase is ubiquitously bound to the interfacial superconductivity. Here, we report on molecular beam epitaxy growth and low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy study of FeSe films on BaTiO$_3$(001). We find that the stripe phase is more prominent in FeSe/BaTiO$_3$. Long-range stripes exist in bilayer and triple-layer FeSe films at 4 K and…
Temperature dependence of resistivity under high pressures with magnetic fields parallel and perpendicular to the FeSe planes are measured in FeSe single crystals. It is found that the structural transition (nematic) temperature is suppressed by pressure and ends at around $P$ = 1.18 GPa. Below around 0.85 GPa, the superconducting transition shows a narrow width with no indication of antiferromagnetic order. While above this pressure, the superconducting transition temperature drops slightly forming a small dome of superconducting region with the maximum $T_c$ at around 0.825 GPa. Furthermore,…
We report pressure-dependent neutron diffraction and muon spin relaxation/rotation measurements combined with first-principles calculations to investigate the structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of BaFe$_2$S$_3$ under pressure. The experimental results reveal a gradual enhancement of the stripe-type ordering temperature with increasing pressure up to 2.6 GPa and no observable change in the size of the ordered moment. The ab initio calculations suggest that the magnetism is highly sensitive to the Fe-S bond lengths and angles, clarifying discrepancies with previously published resul…
Elucidating the nature of the magnetism of a high-temperature superconductor is crucial for establishing its pairing mechanism. The parent compounds of the cuprate and iron-pnictide superconductors exhibit Néel and stripe magnetic order, respectively. However, FeSe, the structurally simplest iron-based superconductor, shows nematic order (Ts = 90 K), but not magnetic order in the parent phase, and its magnetic ground state is intensely debated. Here, we report inelastic neutron-scattering experiments that reveal both stripe and Néel spin fluctuations over a wide energy range at 110 K. On enter…
To elucidate the origin of nematic order in FeSe, we performed field-dependent 77Se-NMR measurements on single crystals of FeSe. We observed orbital ordering from the splitting of the NMR spectra and Knight shift and a suppression of it with magnetic field B0 up to 16 T applied parallel to the Fe-planes. There is a significant change in the distribution and magnitude of the internal magnetic field across the orbital ordering temperature Torb while stripe-type antiferromagnetism is absent. Giant antiferromagnetic (AFM) spin fluctuations measured by the NMR spin-lattice relaxation are gradually …
We report a muon spin rotation ($μ$SR) study of the cuprate-analog nickelate La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_8$, which undergoes a transition at 105 K to a low-temperature phase with charge-stripe and antiferromagnetic (AFM) order on square planar NiO$_2$ layers. Zero-field $μ$SR shows that this transition is abrupt and that the AFM configuration is commensurate. Comparison of observed muon precession frequencies with Ni dipolar field calculations yields Ni moments $\lesssim 0.5μ_B$. Dynamic muon spin relaxation above 105 K suggests critical slowing of Ni spin fluctuations, but is inconsistent with correspondi…
From antiferromagnetism to superconductivity in Fe 1+y(Te1-x,Sex) (0 < x < 0.20): a neutron powder diffraction analysis
The onset of the structural and of the magnetic transition remains coincident with the increase of Se substitution. The low temperature monoclinic crystal structure has been revised. Superconductivity arises for x >,因此在FeTe-FeSe赝二元相图中存在一个超导性和长程反铁磁性共存的重要区域。

The van-der-Waals gap of iron chalcogenide superconductors can be intercalated with a variety of inorganic and organic compounds that modify the electron doping level of the iron layers. In Lix(C3N2H10)0.37FeSe, a dome in the superconducting transition temperature Tc has been reported to occur in the doping range of x=0.06 to x=0.68. We use a combination of density functional theory and spin fluctuation theory to capture the evolution of superconducting transition temperatures theoretically. We clearly demonstrate how the changing electronic structure supports an increasing superconducting Tc.…
We use polarization-resolved electronic Raman spectroscopy to study charge dynamics in non-magnetic FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_x$ superconductor. We observe two features of the $XY$ quadrupole symmetry: a low-energy quasi-elastic peak (QEP) and an electronic continuum. The QEP exhibits critical enhancement upon cooling towards the structural transition at $T_S(x)$. Below $T_S(x)$, the QEP diminishes gradually, and a gap with temperature evolution reminiscent of a mean-field order parameter opens in the continuum. The intensity of the QEP develops with increasing sulfur doping $x$ and maximizes at $x\appro…
It has been proposed that a line junction between spiral magnet and superconductor or between ferromagnet and superconductor with Rashba spin-orbital coupling can produce Majorana zero mode (MZM) at the ends of the line. However, a strong magnetic exchange coupling between the magnetic atoms and the superconductor (about half of the bandwidth of the superconductor) is needed to obtain MZM. Here, we design devices to reduce the needed magnetic exchange coupling. In the first proposal, we cover a very narrow $s$-wave superconducting wire formed by a monolayer film or a layered material (such as …
Experimental evidence suggests that FeSe is close to a magnetic instability, and recent scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) measurements on FeSe multilayer films have revealed stripe order locally pinned near defect sites. Motivated by these findings, we perform a theoretical study of locally induced magnetic order near nonmagnetic impurities in a model relevant for FeSe. We find that relatively weak repulsive impurities indeed are capable of generating short-range magnetism, and explain the driving mechanism for the local order by resonant eg-orbital states. In addition, we investigate the im…
Magnetism induced by external pressure ($p$) was studied in a FeSe crystal sample by means of muon-spin rotation. The magnetic transition changes from second-order to first-order for pressures exceeding the critical value $p_{\rm c}\simeq2.4-2.5$ GPa. The magnetic ordering temperature ($T_{\rm N}$) and the value of the magnetic moment per Fe site ($m_{\rm Fe}$) increase continuously with increasing pressure, reaching $T_{\rm N}\simeq50$~K and $m_{\rm Fe}\simeq0.25$ $μ_{\rm B}$ at $p\simeq2.6$ GPa, respectively. No pronounced features at both $T_{\rm N}(p)$ and $m_{\rm Fe}(p)$ are detected at $…
We report results of large scale ground state density matrix renormalization group(DMRG) calculations on $t$-$t'$-$J$ cylinders with circumferences 6 and 8. We determine a rough phase diagram which appears to approximate the 2D system. While for many properties, positive and negative $t'$ values ($t'/t = \pm 0.2$) appear to correspond to electron and hole doped cuprate systems, respectively, the behavior of superconductivity itself shows an inconsistency between the model and the materials. The $t'<0$ (hole doped) region shows antiferromagnetism limited to very low doping, stripes more general…
The sulfur substituted FeSe system, FeSe$_{1-x}$S$_{x}$, provides a versatile platform for studying the relationship between nematicity, antiferromagnetism, and superconductivity. Here, by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and resistivity measurements up to 4.73 GPa on FeSe$_{0.91}$S$_{0.09}$, we established the pressure($p$)-temperature($T$) phase diagram in which the nematic state is suppressed with pressure showing a nematic quantum phase transition (QPT) around $p$ = 0.5 GPa, two SC regions, separated by the QPT, appear and antiferromagnetic (AFM) phase emerges above $\sim$3.3 GPa. From the…
