Two integrable cases of two-dimensional Schrödinger equation with a magnetic field are proposed. Using the polar coordinates and the symmetrical gauge, we will obtain solutions of these equation through Biconfluent and Confluent Heun functions. The quantization rules will be derived for both systems under consideration.
A class of integrable 2-dim classical systems with integrals of motion of fourth order in momenta is obtained from the quantum analogues with the help of deformed SUSY algebra. With similar technique a new class of potentials connected with Lax method is found which provides the integrability of corresponding 2-dim hamiltonian systems. In addition, some integrable 2-dim systems with potentials expressed in elliptic functions are explored.
Within the context of Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics and its related hierarchies of integrable quantum Hamiltonians and potentials, a general programme is outlined and applied to its first two simplest illustrations. Going beyond the usual restriction of shape invariance for intertwined potentials, it is suggested to require a similar relation for Hamiltonians in the hierarchy separated by an arbitrary number of levels, N. By requiring further that these two Hamiltonians be in fact identical up to an overall shift in energy, a periodic structure is installed in the hierarchy of quantum syste…
Two known 2-dim SUSY quantum mechanical constructions - the direct generalization of SUSY with first-order supercharges and Higher order SUSY with second order supercharges - are combined for a class of 2-dim quantum models, which {\it are not amenable} to separation of variables. The appropriate classical limit of quantum systems allows us to construct SUSY-extensions of original classical scalar Hamiltonians. Special emphasis is placed on the symmetry properties of the models thus obtained - the explicit expressions of quantum symmetry operators and of classical integrals of motion are given…
In this paper we construct integrable three-dimensional quantum-mechanical systems with magnetic fields, admitting pairs of commuting second-order integrals of motion. The case of Cartesian coordinates is considered. Most of the systems obtained are new and not related to the separation of variables in the corresponding Schrödinger equation.
Quantum integrable systems and their classical counterparts are considered. We show that the symplectic structure and invariant tori of the classical system can be deformed by a quantization parameter $\hbar$ to produce a new (classical) integrable system. The new tori selected by the $\hbar$-equidistance rule represent the spectrum of the quantum system up to $O(\hbar^\infty)$ and are invariant under quantum dynamics in the long-time range $O(\hbar^{-\infty})$. The quantum diffusion over the deformed tori is described. The analytic apparatus uses quantum action-angle coordinates explicitly co…
The aim of this paper is to review the classical limit of Quantum Mechanics and to precise the well known threat of chaos (and fundamental graininess)to the correspondence principle. We will introduce a formalism for this classical limit that allows us to find the surfaces defined by the constants of the motion in phase space. Then in the integrable case we will find the classical trajectories, and in the non-integrable one the fact that regular initial cells become "amoeboid-like". This deformations and their consequences can be considered as a threat to the correspondence principle unless we…
A new simple proof of the adiabatic theorem is given in the finite dimensional case for nondegenerate as well as degenerate states. The explicitly integrable two level system is considered as an example. It is demonstrated that the error estimate given by the adiabatic theorem can not be improved.
A new version of hidden variables theory founded on the generalisation of world's geometry is proposed. The quantum-mechanical motion as the motion in some "inner space", which has a structure of the integrable Weyl space is examined. Equations of motion for a quantum particle as well as equations for the quantum-mechanical field, "guiding" the particle, are deduced. The wave equation for quantum ensembles, the Born's interpretation of wave function and the "guiding equation" as consequences of proposed model are obtained.
We establish the most general class of spin-1/2 integrable Richardson-Gaudin models including an arbitrary magnetic field, returning a fully anisotropic (XYZ) model. The restriction to spin-1/2 relaxes the usual integrability constraints, allowing for a general solution where the couplings between spins lack the usual antisymmetric properties of Richardson-Gaudin models. The full set of conserved charges are constructed explicitly and shown to satisfy a set of quadratic equations, allowing for the numerical treatment of a fully anisotropic central spin in an external magnetic field. While this…
The goal of this thesis is the search for integrable and superintegrable systems with magnetic field. We formulate the quantum mechanical determining equations for second order integrals of motion in the cylindrical coordinates and we find all quadratically integrable systems of the cylindrical type. Among them we search for systems admitting additional integrals of motion. We find all systems with an additional first order integral both in classical and quantum mechanics. It turns out that all these systems have already been known and no other exist. We also find all systems with an additiona…
Based on the previously proposed notions of action operators and of quantum integrability, frequency operators are introduced in a fully quantum-mechanical setting. They are conceptually useful because a new formulation can be given to unitary perturbation theory. When worked out for quantum spin systems, this variant is found to be formally equivalent to canonical perturbation theory applied to nearly-integrable systems consisting of classical spins. In particular, it becomes possible to locate the quantum-mechanical operator-valued equivalent of the frequency denominators which may cause div…
Starting on the basis of $q$-symmetric oscillator algebra and on the associate $q$-calculus properties, we study a deformed quantum mechanics defined in the framework of the basic square-integrable wave functions space. In this context, we introduce a deformed Schroedinger equation, which satisfies the main quantum mechanics assumptions and admits, in the free case, plane wave functions that can be expressed in terms of the q-deformed exponential, originally introduced in the framework of the basic-hypergeometric functions.
We review recent results on new physical models constructed as PT-symmetrical deformations or extensions of different types of integrable models. We present non-Hermitian versions of quantum spin chains, multi-particle systems of Calogero-Moser-Sutherland type and non-linear integrable field equations of Korteweg-de-Vries type. The quantum spin chain discussed is related to the first example in the series of the non-unitary models of minimal conformal field theories. For the Calogero-Moser-Sutherland models we provide three alternative deformations: A complex extension for models related to al…
A brief description of the relations between the factorization method in quantum mechanics, self-similar potentials, integrable systems and the theory of special functions is given. New coherent states of the harmonic oscillator related to the Fourier transformation are constructed.
Generic quantum systems --as much as their classical counterparts-- pass arbitrarily close to their initial state after sufficiently long time. Here we provide an essentially exact computation of such recurrence times for generic non-integrable quantum models. The result is a universal function which depends on just two parameters, an energy scale and the effective dimension of the system. As a by-product we prove that the density of orthogonalization times is zero if at least nine levels are populated and connections with the quantum speed limit are discussed. We also extend our results to in…
A connection between integrable quantum field theory and the spectral theory of ordinary differential equations is reviewed, with particular emphasis being given to its relevance to certain problems in PT-symmetric quantum mechanics.
Using the notions of frame transform and of square integrable projective representation of a locally compact group $G$, we introduce a class of isometries (tight frame transforms) from the space of Hilbert-Schmidt operators in the carrier Hilbert space of the representation into the space of square integrable functions on the direct product group $G\times G$. These transforms have remarkable properties. In particular, their ranges are reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces endowed with a suitable 'star product' which mimics, at the level of functions, the original product of operators. A 'phase spa…
In the present contribution we discuss the role of experimental limitations in the classical limit problem. We studied some simple models and found that Quantum Mechanics does not re-produce classical mechanical predictions, unless we consider the experimental limitations ruled by uncertainty principle. We have shown that the discrete nature of energy levels of integrable systems can be accessed by classical measurements. We have defined a precise limit for this procedure. It may be used as a tool to define the classical limit as far as the discrete spectra of integrable systems are concerned.…
A history of Feynman's sum over histories is presented in brief. A focus is placed on the progress of path-integration techniques for exactly path-integrable problems in quantum mechanics.
The Bargmann representation is constructed corresponding to the coherent states for a particle on a sphere introduced in: K. Kowalski and J. Rembielinski, J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 33, 6035 (2000). The connection is discussed between the introduced formalism and the standard approach based on the Hilbert space of square integrable functions on a sphere S^2.
It is shown that it is possible to construct the quantum wave functions for non-separable but integrable two-dimensional Hamiltonian systems, by solving suitable Dirichlet boundary values problems inside and outside the regions spanned by particular families of classical trajectories, in one-to-one correspondence with the quantum state. The method is applied both to the Schrodinger equation, and to the quantum Hamilton-Jacobi equation. The boundary values are obtained by integrating the one-dim equations on the caustics arcs enveloping the classical trajectories. This approach gives the same r…
A general program to show quantum-classical correspondence for bound conservative integrable and chaotic systems is described. The method is applied to integrable systems and the nature of the approach to the classical limit, the cancellation of essential singularities, is demonstrated. The application to chaotic systems requires an understanding of classical Liouville eigenfunctions and a Liouville spectral decomposition, developed herein. General approaches to the construction of these Liouville eigenfunctions and classical spectral projectors in quantum and classical mechanics are discussed…
We provide a squeeze-like transformation that allows one to remove a position dependent mass from the Hamiltonian. Methods to solve the Schrödinger equation may then be applied to find the respective eigenvalues and eigenfunctions. As an example, we consider a position-dependent-mass that leads to the integrable Morse potential and therefore to well-known solutions.
We discuss the main mechanisms generating chaotic behavior of the quantum trajectories in the de Broglie - Bohm picture of quantum mechanics, in systems of two and three degrees of freedom. In the 2D case, chaos is generated via multiple scatterings of the trajectories with one or more `nodal point - X-point complexes'. In the 3D case, these complexes form foliations along `nodal lines' accompanied by `X-lines'. We also identify cases of integrable or partially integrable quantum trajectories. The role of chaos is important in interpreting the dynamical origin of the `quantum relaxation' effec…
We show that any soliton solution of an arbitrary two-dimensional integrable equation has the potential to eventually evaporate and emit the exact analogue of Hawking radiation from black holes. From the AKNS matrix formulation of integrability, we show that it is possible to associate a real spacetime metric tensor which defines a curved surface, perceived by the classical and quantum fluctuations propagating on the soliton. By defining proper scalar invariants of the associated Riemannian geometry, and introducing the conformal anomaly, we are able to determine the Hawking temperatures and e…
