We discuss a scenario of the type-II 2HDM in which the $b\bar{b}γγ$ rate of the Higgs pair production is enhanced due to the two nearly degenerate 125 GeV Higgs bosons ($h$, $H$). Considering various theoretical and experimental constraints, we figure out the allowed ranges of the trilinear couplings of these two Higgs bosons and calculate the signal rate of $b\bar{b}γγ$ from the productions of Higgs pairs ($hh$, $hH$, $HH$) at the LHC. We find that in the allowed parameter space some trilinear Higgs couplings can be larger than the SM value by an order and the production rate of $b\bar{b}γγ$ can be greatly enhanced. We also consider a "decoupling" benchmark point where the light CP-even Higgs has a SM-like cubic self-coupling while other trilinear couplings are very small. With a detailed simulation on the $b\bar{b}γγ$ signal and backgrounds, we find that in such a "decoupling" scenario the $hh$ and $hH$ channels can jointly enhance the statistical significance to 5$σ$ at 14 TeV LHC with an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb$^{-1}$.
Following the discovery of a Higgs boson, there has been renewed interest in the general 2-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM). A model with One Inert Doublet plus One Higgs Doublet (I(1+1)HDM), where one of the scalar doublets is "inert" (since it has no vacuum expectation value and does not couple to fermions) has an advantage over the 2HDM since it provides a good Dark Matter (DM) candidate, namely the lightest inert scalar. Motivated by the existence of three fermion families, here we consider a model with two scalar doublets plus one Higgs doublet (I(2+1)HDM), where the two scalar doublets are ine…
We make a phenomenological study of a model with two inert doublets plus one Higgs doublet (I(2+1)HDM) which is symmetric under a Z$_2$ group, preserved after Electro-Weak Symmetry Breaking (EWSB) by the vacuum alignment $(0,0,v)$. This model may be regarded as an extension to the model with one inert doublet plus one Higgs doublet (I(1+1)HDM), by the addition of an extra inert scalar doublet. The neutral fields from the two inert doublets provide a viable Dark Matter (DM) candidate which is stabilised by the conserved $Z_2$ symmetry. We study the new Higgs decay channels offered by the scalar…
We introduce a 3-Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM) with two Inert (or dark) scalar doublets and an active Higgs one, hence termed I(2+1)HDM, in the presence of a discrete $Z_3$ symmetry acting upon the three doublet fields. We show that such a construct yields a Dark Matter (DM) sector with two mass-degenerate states of opposite CP parity, both of which contribute to DM dynamics, which we call \textit{Hermaphrodite DM}, distinguishable from a (single) complex DM candidate. We show that the relic density contributions of both states are equal, saturating the observed relic density compliant with (in)d…
We present the complete set of continuous maximal symmetries that the potential of an $n$-Higgs Doublet Model ($n$HDM) should satisfy for natural Standard Model (SM) alignment. As a result, no large mass scales or fine-tuning is required for such alignment, which still persists even if these symmetries were broken softly by bilinear mass terms. In particular, the Maximal Symmetric $n$HDM (MS-$n$HDM) can provide both natural SM alignment and quartic coupling unification up to the Planck scale. Most remarkably, we show that the MS-2HDM is a very predictive extension of the SM governed by two onl…
The potential of $n$-Higgs Doublet Models ($n$HDMs) contains a large number of SU(2)$_L$-preserving accidental symmetries as subgroups of the symplectic group Sp(2$n)$. To classify these, we introduce prime invariants and irreducible representations in bilinear field space that enable us to explicitly construct accidentally symmetric $n$HDM potentials. We showcase the classifications of symmetries and present the relationship among the theoretical parameters of the scalar potential for; (i) the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) and (ii) the Three Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM). We recover the maximum…
Maximally Symmetric $n$-Higgs Doublet Models (MS-$n$HDMs)define very economic settings that enable sharp Higgs-sector predictions beyond the Standard Model (SM) potentially testable at high-energy colliders. The scalar potential of a MS-$n$HDM obeys an $\mathrm{Sp(2}n)$ symmetry, which is softly broken by bilinear scalar masses and explicitly by hypercharge and Yukawa couplings through renormalisation-group effects. The $\mathrm{Sp(2}n)$ also ensures natural SM alignment and allows for quartic coupling unification up to the Planck scale. As typical examples, we consider maximally symmetric rea…
A $ Z_3 $ symmetric 3-Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM) with two inert doublets and one active doublet (that plays the role of the Higgs doublet), the so-called I(2+1)HDM, is studied. We discuss the behaviour of this 3HDM realisation when one allows for a $ Z_3 $ soft breaking term. Such a symmetry enables the presence of a two-component Dark Matter (DM) scenario in the form of "Hermaphrodite DM", where the two inert candidates have opposite CP parity and are protected by this discrete symmetry from decaying into Standard Model (SM) particles. Furthermore, the two DM states are potentially distinguis…
We perform a comprehensive study of The Higgs potential of the two Higgs doublet model extended by a real triplet scalar field $Δ$. This model, dubbed $2\mathcal{HDM+T}$, has a rich Higgs spectrum consisting of three CP-even Higgs $h_{1,2,3}$, one CP-odd $A_0$ and two pairs of charged Higgs $H^\pm_{1,2}$. First, we determine the perturbative unitarity constraints and a set of non trivial conditions for the boundedness from below (BFB). Then we derive the Veltman conditions by considering the quadratic divergencies of Higgs boson self energies in $2\mathcal{HDM+T}$. We find that the parameter s…
We calculate an $s$-wave amplitude matrix for all the possible 2--to--2 body scalar boson elastic scatterings in models with three scalar doublets, including contributions from the longitudinal component of weak gauge bosons via the Equivalence Theorem Approximation. Specifically, we concentrate on the two cases with two[one] active plus one[two] inert doublet fields, referred to as I(1+2)HDM[I(2+1)HDM], under CP conservation. We obtain three analytically irreducible sub-matrices with the $3\times 3$ form and eighteen eigenvalues for the amplitude matrix as an independent set, where the same f…

The observed Higgs boson signals to-date could be due to having two quasi-degenerate 125 GeV scalar states in Nature. This kind of scenario tallies well with the predictions from the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM). We have analysed the phenomenological NMSSM Higgs boson couplings and derived a parameterization of the signal strengths within the two quasi-degenerate framework. With essentially two parameters, it is shown that the combined strengths of the two quasi-degenerate Higgs states in the leptonic (and b-quark) decay channels depart from the Standard Model values i…
Certain supersymmetric grand unified models predict that the coefficients of the quadratic terms in the MSSM Higgs potential should be degenerate at the GUT scale. We discuss some examples for such models, and we analyse the implications of this peculiar condition of a GUT-scale degenerate Higgs mass matrix for low-scale MSSM phenomenology. To this end we explore the parameter space which is consistent with existing experimental constraints by means of a Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis.
The analysis of the Higgs boson data by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations appears to exhibit an excess of h --> gammaγevents above the Standard Model (SM) expectations; whereas no significant excess is observed in h --> ZZ* --> {four lepton} events, albeit with large statistical uncertainty due to the small data sample. These results (assuming they persist with further data) could be explained by a pair of nearly mass-degenerate scalars, one of which is a SM-like Higgs boson and the other is a scalar with suppressed couplings to W+W- and ZZ. In the two Higgs doublet model, the observed γγand ZZ…
We study an extension of the Standard Model (SM) in which two copies of the SM Higgs doublet are added to the scalar sector. These extra doublets do not develop a vacuum expectation value, hence, they are \textit{inert}. This essentially leads to a 3-Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM) with 2 inert and 1 active scalar doublets, which we denote as I(2+1)HDM. We allow for CP-violation in the \textit{inert} sector, where the lightest \textit{inert} state is protected from decaying to SM particles through the conservation of a $Z_2$ symmetry, so that it is a Dark Matter (DM) candidate. For this scenario, w…
Using the most recent results of CMS and ATLAS, we study the Higgs decays to $γγ$ and $Zγ$ in the scenario where the two CP even Higgs predicted by the type II seesaw model (HTM) are close to mass degenerate with a mass near $125$ GeV. We analyse the effects of the Higgs potential parameters constrained by the full set of perturbative unitarity, boundedness from below (BFB) as well as from precision electroweak measurements on these decay modes. Our analysis demonstrates that the observed excess in the diphoton Higgs decay channel can be interpreted in our scenario within a delineated region c…
The Higgs-like signal observed at the LHC could be due to several mass degenerate resonances. We show that the number of resonances is related to the rank of a "production and decay" matrix, $R_{if}$. Each entry in this matrix contains the observed rate in a particular production mode $i$ and final state $f$. In the case of $N$ non-interfering resonances, the rank of $R$ is, at most, $N$. If interference plays a role, the maximum rank is $N^2$ or in the CP limit $N(N+1)/2$. As an illustration we use the present experimental data to constrain the rank of the corresponding matrix. We estimate th…
More than one Higgs boson may be present near the currently discovered Higgs mass, which can not be properly resolved due to the limitations in the intrinsic energy resolution at the Large Hadron Collider. We investigated the scenarios where two $CP$-even Higgs bosons are degenerate in mass. To correctly predict the Higgs signatures, quantum interference effects between the two Higgs bosons must be taken into account, which, however, has been often neglected in the literature. We carried out a global analysis including the interference effects for a variety of Higgs searching channels at the L…
We investigate rare decays of Higgs via exchange of two almost degenerate heavy on-shell Majorana neutrinos $N_j$ ($j=1,2$): $Γ_{\pm} = Γ(h \to ν_k N_j \to ν_k \ell^{\pm} π^{\mp})$, and into the open quark channels $Γ_{\pm} = Γ(h \to ν_k N_j \to ν_k \ell^{\pm} U D)$, where $U D$ are two jets of open quarks (${\bar U} D$, or $U {\bar D}$, where $U=u, c$ and $D=d, s$). The related CP violation asymmetry $A_{\rm CP} = (Γ_{-} - Γ_{+})/(Γ_{-} + Γ_{+})$ is studied in detail. We take into account the $N_1$-$N_2$ overlap and oscillation effects. We can see that for certain, presently acceptable, range…
Using the likelihood ratio test statistic, we present a method which can be employed to test the hypothesis of a single Higgs boson using the matrix of measured signal strengths. This method can be applied in the presence of incomplete data and takes into account uncertainties on the measurements. The p-value against the hypothesis of a single Higgs boson is defined from the expected distribution of the test statistic, generated using pseudo-experiments. The applicability of the likelihood-based test is demonstrated using numerical examples with uncertainties and missing matrix elements.
The scenario of two mass-degenerate Higgs bosons within the general two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) is revisited. We focus on the global picture when two $CP$-even Higgs bosons of $h$ and $H$ are nearly mass-degenerate. A global fit to the signal strength of the 125 GeV Higgs measured at the LHC is performed. Based on the best-fit result of the 2HDM mixing angles $(α,β)$, theoretical constraints, charged and $CP$-odd Higgs boson direct search constraints and the electroweak precision constraints are imposed to the 2HDM parameter space. We present the signal predictions of the $(4b\,, 2b\,2γ)$ c…
We study a $Z_2 \times Z'_2$ symmetric 3-Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM), wherein two of the doublets are inert and one is active (thus denoted in literature as I(2+1)HDM), yielding a two-component Dark Matter (DM) sector. The two DM candidates emerge as the lightest scalar component of a different inert doublet, each with a different odd discrete parity, and cooperate to achieve the correct relic density. When a sufficient mass difference exists between the two DM candidates, it is possible to test the presence of both in present and/or forthcoming facilities, as the corresponding masses are typic…
We propose an experimental test of a scenario in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model in which both the lightest scalar and the lightest pseudoscalar Higgs bosons have masses around 125 GeV. The pseudoscalar can contribute significantly to the gamma.gamma rate at the LHC due to light Higgsino-like charginos in its effective one-loop coupling to two photons. Such charginos are obtained for small values of the mu_eff parameter which also results in enhanced b.b-bar and tau+.tau- rates compared to those expected for a Standard Model Higgs boson. This scenario should result in a clear…
We chose the $μ$-term extended next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model ($μ$NMSSM) for this work, and the phenomenological research is based on the assumption of double Higgs resonance state as the Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs considering the recent $(g-2)_μ$ result. The study also take into account a variety of experimental results, including direct detection of dark matter (DM) and searching results for sparticles at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We study the characteristic of DM confronted with limitations of direct detection experiments. Following that, we concentrate on the prop…
The presence of two light higgsinos nearly degenerate in mass is one of the important characteristics of suspersymmetric models meeting the naturalness criteria. Probing such higgsinos at the LHC is very challenging, in particular when the mass-splitting between them is less than 5 GeV. In this study, we analyze such a degenerate higgsino scenario by exploiting the high collinearity between the two muons which originate from the decay of the heavier higgsino into the lighter one and which are accompanied by a high-$p_T$ QCD jet. Using our method, we can achieve a statistical significance $\sim…
We propose a noncommutative (NC) version for a global O(2) scalar field theory, whose damping feature is introduced into the scalar field theory through the NC parameter. In this context, we investigate how noncommutative drives spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) and Higgs-Kibble mechanisms and how the damping feature workout. Indeed, we show that the noncommutativity plays an important role in such mechanisms, i.e., the Higgs mass and VEV dependent on NC parameter. After that, it is explored the consequences of noncommutativity dependence of Higgs mass and VEV: for the first, it is shown tha…
Current discussions of the allowed two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) parameter space after LHC Run 1 and the prospects for Run 2 are commonly phrased in the context of a quasi-degenerate spectrum for the new scalars. Here we discuss the generic situation of a 2HDM with a non-degenerate spectrum for the new scalars. This is highly motivated from a cosmological perspective since it naturally leads to a strongly first order electroweak phase transition that could explain the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe. While constraints from measurements of Higgs signal strengths do not change, thos…
We use the discrete group Σ(81) = (Z_3 x Z_3 x Z_3)\rtimes Z_3 to explore a particular region of parameter space in the Private Higgs model. In doing so we suggest a relation among the off-diagonal entries of the neutrino mass matrix and a possible explanation for the muon magnetic moment anomaly, a_μ^{exp}-a_μ^{SM} ~ 10^{-9}. We predict three new nearly degenerate Higgs doublets with masses of order ~ 500 GeV to ~ 1 TeV, and three nearly degenerate SM-singlet TeV-scale neutrinos. The largest scale in the model is ~ 10 TeV, so there is no severe hierarchy problem. The appendix is devoted to th…
We study the production and decay of a coupled system of mixed neutral MSSM Higgs bosons in exclusive double-diffractive processes at the LHC, including non-vanishing CP phases in the soft supersymmetry-breaking gaugino masses and third-generation trilinear squark couplings. The three neutral Higgs bosons are naturally nearly degenerate, for large values of \tanβ, when the charged Higgs boson weighs around 150 GeV. Large mixing between all three neutral Higgs bosons is possible when CP is violated, a three-way mixing scenario which we also term tri-mixing. A resolution in the Higgs mass of \si…
We revisit the neutral Higgs sector of the Higgs Triplet Model, with non-negligible mixing in the CP-even Higgs sector. We examine the possibility that one of the Higgs boson state is the particle observed at the LHC at 125 GeV, and the other is either the small LEP excess at 98 GeV; or the CMS excess at 136 GeV; or that the neutral Higgs bosons are (almost) degenerate and have both mass 125 GeV. We show that, under general considerations, an (unmixed) neutral Higgs boson cannot have an enhanced decay branching ratio into gamma gamma with respect to the Standard Model one. An enhancement is ho…
We propose a new search strategy for higgsinos. Assuming associated production of higgsino-like pairs with a $W$ or $Z$ boson, we search in the missing energy plus hadronically-tagged vector boson channel. We place sensitivity limits for (HL-)LHC searches assuming $\mathcal{O}({1\mathrm{-}3.5}~\mathrm{GeV})$ mass differences between the lightest neutral and charged states. We point out that using the $E_T^\mathrm{miss}$ distribution significantly increases the sensitivity of this search. We find the higgsinos up to 110 (210) GeV can be excluded with $139~(300)~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ data. The full …
We consider the Higgs potential in generalizations of the Standard Model. The possibility of the potential to develop two almost degenerate minima is explored. This would imply that QCD matter at two distinct sets of quark masses is relevant for astrophysics and cosmology. If in the exotic minimum the QCD matter ground state is electromagnetically neutral, dark matter may consist of QCD matter and antimatter in bubbles of the Higgs field. We predict an abundance of gamma rays in the few MeV region as messengers of dark matter regions in space. In addition the ratio of dark matter to normal mat…
Based on the weak coupling expansion of gravity, we calculate the gravitational contributions to yukawa coupling, scalar quartic coupling as well as gauge couplings with general Landau-DeWitt gauge-fixing choice and a gauge preserving (of SM gauge group) cut off regularization scheme. We find that the results depend on the Landau-DeWitt gauge-fixing parameter. Based on the two loop RGE of SM couplings with one loop full gravitational contributions in harmonic gauge, we study the constraints on the higgs and top quark mass from the requirement of existing the other degenerate vacua at the Planc…
The extension of the standard model to $SU(3)_L\times SU(3)_R \times SU(3)_C$ is considered. Spontaneous symmetry breaking requires two $(3^*, 3, 1)$ Higgs field multiplets with a strong hierarchical structure of their vacuum expectation values. An invariant potential is constructed to provide for these vacuum expectation values. This potential gives masses to all scalar fields apart from the 15 Goldstone bosons. In case there exists a one-to-one correspondence between the vacuum expectation values of the two field multiplets, the scalar boson spectrum contains degenerate eigenstates. The lowe…
In this work, we investigate the degenerate heavy Higgs bosons in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM) by introducing vector-like particles. Such an extension is well motivated from the top-down view since some grand unified theories usually predict the existence of singlet scalars and vector-like particles at weak scale. Under the constraints from the LHC and dark matter experiments, we find that (1) the null results of searching for high mass resonances have tightly constrained the parameter space; (2) two degenerate heavy singlet Higgs bosons $h_2$ and $a_1$ can sizably…
If a new signal is established in future LHC data, a next question will be to determine the signal composition, in particular whether the signal is due to multiple near-degenerate states. We investigate the performance of a deep learning approach to signal mixture estimation for the challenging scenario of a ditau signal coming from a pair of degenerate Higgs bosons of opposite CP charge. This constitutes a parameter estimation problem for a mixture model with highly overlapping features. We use an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to a neural network output, and compare the results to mixture e…
Extensions beyond the Standard Model allow for a gauge singlet scalar to be kinetically coupled with the Higgs. We consider kinetic mixing between a Dark scalar gauge singlet \emph{nearly degenerate} with the Higgs, focusing on the \emph{dynamical} aspects of the mixing phenomena. The renormalization program is carried out by obtaining the one-loop effective action which yields an effective non-hermitian Hamiltonian to study the dynamics of mixing. The scalar Higgs becomes a coherent superposition of the mass eigenstates, thus kinetic mixing leads to oscillations and common decay channels in s…
We investigate the predictions on the mass spectrum and Higgs boson decays in the supersymmetric standard model extended by U(1)_B-L symmetry (BLSSM). The model requires two singlet Higgs fields, which are responsible for the radiative breaking of U(1)_B-L symmetry. It predicts degenerate right-handed neutrino masses (1.7-2.2 TeV) as well as the right-handed sneutrinos of mass <~ 4 TeV. The presence of right-handed neutrinos and sneutrinos trigger the baryon and lepton number violation processes, until they decouple from the Standard model particles. Besides, the model predicts rather heavy co…
We investigate origin of three features that are often assumed in analysis of two-Higgs doublet models: (i) softly broken Z2 symmetry, (ii) CP invariant Higgs potential, and (iii) degenerated mass spectra. We extend electroweak gauge symmetry, introducing extra gauge symmetry and extra scalars, and we show that our models effectively derive two-Higgs dou- blet models at low energy which naturally hold the three features. We also find that the models can solve the strong CP problem.
We present a study of the Very Degenerate Higgsino Dark Matter (DM), whose mass splitting between the lightest neutral and charged components is ${\cal O}$(1) MeV, much smaller than radiative splitting of 355 MeV. The scenario is realized in the minimal supersymmetric standard model by small gaugino mixing. In contrast to the pure Higgsino DM with the radiative splitting only, various observable signatures with distinct features are induced. First of all, the very small mass splitting makes (a) sizable Sommerfeld enhancement and Ramsauer-Townsend (RT) suppression relevant to ~1 TeV Higgsino DM…
We present a new strategy to uncover light, quasi-degenerate Higgsinos, a likely ingredient in a natural supersymmetric model. Our strategy focuses on Higgsinos with inter-state splittings of O(5-50) GeV that are produced in association with a hard, initial state jet and decay via off-shell gauge bosons to two or more leptons and missing energy, $pp \to j + \text{MET}\, + 2^+\, \ell$. The additional jet is used for triggering, allowing us to significantly loosen the lepton requirements and gain sensitivity to small inter-Higgsino splittings. Focusing on the two-lepton signal, we find the seemi…
We consider a three Higgs doublet model with an $S_3$ symmetry in which beside the SM-like doublet there are two fermiophobic doublets. Due to the new charged scalars there is an enhancement in the two-photon decay while the other channels have the same decay widths that the SM neutral Higgs. The fermiophobic scalars are mass degenerated unless soft terms breaking the $S_3$ symmetry are added.
