We study the renormalisation of $SU(N_c)$ gauge theories on general anisotropic lattices, to one-loop order in perturbation theory, employing the background field method. The results are then applied in the context of two different approaches to hadronic high-energy scattering. In the context of the Euclidean nonperturbative approach to soft high-energy scattering based on Wilson loops, we refine the nonperturbative justification of the analytic continuation relations of the relevant Wilson-loop correlators, required to obtain physical results. In the context of longitudinally-rescaled actions, we study the consequences of one-loop corrections on the relation between the $SU(N_c)$ gauge theory and its effective description in terms of two-dimensional principal chiral models.
We determine from first principles the quark mass anomalous dimension in Nf=3 QCD between the electroweak and hadronic scales. This allows for a fully non-perturbative connection of the perturbative and non-perturbative regimes of the Standard Model in the hadronic sector. The computation is carried out to high accuracy, employing massless O(a)-improved Wilson quarks and finite-size scaling techniques. We also provide the matching factors required in the renormalisation of light quark masses from lattice computations with O(a)-improved Wilson fermions and a tree-level Symanzik improved gauge a…
Lattice QCD calculations of form factors for rare Standard Model processes such as $B \to K \ell^+ \ell^-$ use tensor currents that require renormalisation. These renormalisation factors, $Z_T$, have typically been calculated within perturbation theory and the estimated uncertainties from missing higher order terms are significant. Here we study tensor current renormalisation using lattice implementations of momentum-subtraction schemes. Such schemes are potentially more accurate but have systematic errors from nonperturbative artefacts. To determine and remove these condensate contributions w…
The perturbative and nonperturbative renormalisation of quark-antiquark operators in lattice QCD with two flavours of clover fermions is investigated within the research programme of the QCDSF collaboration. Operators with up to three derivatives are considered. The nonperturbative results based on the RI-MOM scheme are compared with estimates from one- and two-loop lattice perturbation theory.

We perform a non-perturbative study of the scale-dependent renormalisation factors of a complete set of dimension-six four-fermion operators. The renormalisation-group (RG) running is determined in the continuum limit for a specific Schrdinger Functional (SF) renormalisation scheme in the framework of lattice QCD with two dynamical flavours ( $N_f = 2$ ). The theory is regularised on a lattice with a plaquette Wilson action and $\mathcal{O}(a)$-improved Wilson fermions. For one of these operators, the computation had been performed in ref. [1]; the present work completes the study for the rest…
We present preliminary results of the non-perturbative computation of the RI-MOM renormalisation constants in a mass-independent scheme for the action with Iwasaki glue and four dynamical Wilson quarks employed by ETMC. Our project requires dedicated gauge ensembles with four degenerate sea quark flavours at three lattice spacings and at several values of the standard and twisted quark mass parameters. The RI-MOM renormalisation constants are obtained from appropriate O(a) improved estimators extrapolated to the chiral limit.
We present details of a lattice QCD calculation of the $B_s\to D_s^*$ axial form factor at zero recoil using the Highly Improved Staggered Quark (HISQ) formalism on the second generation MILC gluon ensembles that include up, down, strange and charm quarks in the sea. Using the HISQ action for all valence quarks means that the lattice axial vector current that couples to the $W$ can be renormalized fully non-perturbatively, giving a result free of the perturbative matching errors that previous lattice QCD calculations have had. We calculate correlation functions at three values of the lattice s…
We study the change of the QCD spectrum of low-lying mesons in the presence of an external magnetic field using Wilson fermions in the quenched approximation. Motivated by qualitative differences observed in the spectra of overlap and Wilson fermions for large magnetic fields, we investigate the dependence of the additive quark mass renormalisation on the magnetic field. We provide evidence that the magnetic field changes the critical quark mass both in the free case and on our quenched ensemble. The associated change of the bare quark mass with the magnetic field affects the spectrum and is r…
Tensor currents are the only quark bilinear operators lacking a non-perturbative determination of their renormalisation group (RG) running between hadronic and electroweak scales. We develop the setup to carry out the computation in lattice QCD via standard recursive finite-size scaling techniques, and provide results for the RG running of tensor currents in $N_f = 0$ and $N_f = 2$ QCD in the continuum for various Schrödinger Functional schemes. The matching factors between bare and renormalisation group invariant currents are also determined for a range of values of the lattice spacing relev…
We examine the renormalisation of flavour-diagonal vector currents in lattice QCD with the aim of understanding and quantifying the systematic errors from nonperturbative artefacts associated with the use of intermediate momentum-subtraction schemes. Our study uses the Highly Improved Staggered Quark (HISQ) action on gluon field configurations that include $n_f=2+1+1$ flavours of sea quarks, but our results have applicability to other quark actions. Renormalisation schemes that make use of the exact lattice vector Ward-Takahashi identity for the conserved current also have renormalisation fact…
We present a determination of the charm quark mass in lattice QCD with three active quark flavours. The calculation is based on PCAC masses extracted from $N_\mathrm{f}=2+1$ flavour gauge field ensembles at five different lattice spacings in a range from 0.087 fm down to 0.039 fm. The lattice action consists of the $\mathrm{O}(a)$ improved Wilson-clover action and a tree-level improved Symanzik gauge action. Quark masses are non-perturbatively $\mathrm{O}(a)$ improved employing the Symanzik-counterterms available for this discretisation of QCD. To relate the bare mass at a specified low-energy…
We present a comprehensive study of the quark sector of $2+1$ flavour QCD, based on a self-consistent treatment of the coupled system of Schwinger-Dyson equations for the quark propagator and the full quark-gluon vertex. The individual form factors of the quark-gluon vertex are expressed in a special tensor basis obtained from a set of gauge-invariant operators. The sole external ingredient used as input to our equations is the Landau gauge gluon propagator with $2+1$ dynamical quark flavours, obtained from studies with Schwinger-Dyson equations, the functional renormalisation group approach, …
We calculate the transverse and time-time components of the instantaneous gluon propagator in Coulomb gauge QCD by using an SU(3) quenched lattice simulation on isotropic and anisotropic lattices. We find that the gluon propagators suffer from strong discretization effects on the isotropic lattice; on the other hand, those on the anisotropic lattices give a better scaling. Moreover, on these two type of lattices the transverse parts are significantly suppressed in the infrared region and have a turnover at about 500 [MeV]. The high resolution to the temporal direction due to the anisotropy yie…
We compute temporal correlators and spectral functions for light, open charm and charmonium mesons in the pseudoscalar and vector channel for a range of temperatures below and above the deconfinement transition. The study is carried out using anisotropic lattice QCD with 2+1 dynamical flavours, $a_s=0.123\,$fm and $a_s/a_τ=3.5$. The high-temperature results are benchmarked by comparing them to reconstructed correlators obtained by direct summation of the zero temperature correlator. We use two Bayesian methods to reconstruct the spectral functions: the maximum entropy method and the more recen…
In this talk I review several topics concerning the determination of quark masses by means of lattice QCD simulations, with particular focus on recently introduced techniques of non-perturbative renormalisation, the determination of heavy quark masses, and the proper quantification of the source of isospin breaking effects in the light quark sector.
We present the results of a non-perturbative determination of the improvement coefficient $c_\mathrm{V}$ and the renormalisation factor $Z_\mathrm{V}$, which define the renormalised vector current in three-flavour $\mathrm{O}(a)$ improved lattice QCD with Wilson quarks and tree-level Symanzik-improved gauge action. In case of the improvement coefficient, we consider both lattice descriptions of the vector current, the local as well as the conserved (i.e., point-split) one. Our improvement and normalisation conditions are based on massive chiral Ward identities and numerically evaluated in the …
We present results for correlators and spectral functions of open charm mesons using 2+1 flavours of clover fermions on anisotropic lattices. The D mesons are found to dissociate close to the deconfinement crossover temperature Tc. Our preliminary results suggest a shift in the thermal D meson mass below Tc. Mesons containing strange quarks exhibit smaller thermal modifications than those containing light quarks.
The FASTSUM collaboration has been carrying out simulations of N_f=2+1 QCD at nonzero temperature in the fixed-scale approach using anisotropic lattices. Here we present the status of these studies, including recent results for electrical conductivity and charge diffusion, and heavy quarkonium (charm and beauty) physics.
Considering the general structure of the two point functions of quarks and gluons, we compute the free energy and pressure of a strongly magnetized hot and dense QCD matter created in heavy-ion collisions. In presence of strong magnetic field we found that the deconfined QCD matter exhibits a paramagnetic nature. One gets different pressure in a direction parallel and perpendicular to magnetic field due to the magnetization acquired by the system. We obtain both longitudinal and transverse pressure, and magnetization of a hot deconfined QCD matter in presence of magnetic field. We have used ha…
The FASTSUM Collaboration presents its first results for the electric charge susceptibility in QCD using 2+1 dynamical flavours of Wilson quark on anisotropic lattices. Spatial volumes of (2.94 fm)^3 are used at fixed cut-off with temperatures ranging from below T_c to ~2 T_c.
We present a lattice QCD determination of light quark masses with three sea-quark flavours ($N_f = 2+1$). Bare quark masses are known from PCAC relations in the framework of CLS lattice computations with a non-perturbatively improved Wilson-Clover action and a tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action. They are fully non-perturbatively improved, including the recently computed Symanzik counter-term $b_{\rm A} - b_{\rm P}$. The mass renormalisation at hadronic scales and the renormalisation group running over a wide range of scales are known non-perturbatively in the Schrödinger functional sche…
