We study the effect of thermal and quantum fluctuations on the dynamical response of a one-dimensional strongly-interacting Bose gas in a tight atomic waveguide. We combine the Luttinger liquid theory at arbitrary interactions and the exact Bose-Fermi mapping in the Tonks-Girardeau-impenetrable-boson limit to obtain the dynamic structure factor of the strongly-interacting fluid at finite temperature. Then, we determine the drag force felt by a potential barrier moving along the fluid in the experimentally realistic situation of finite barrier width and temperature.
We show that in a rotating two-component Bose mixture, the spin drag between the two different spin species shows a Hall effect. This spin drag Hall effect can be observed experimentally by studying the out-of-phase dipole mode of the mixture. We determine the damping of this mode due to spin drag as a function of temperature. We find that due to Bose stimulation there is a strong enhancement of the damping for temperatures close to the critical temperature for Bose-Einstein condensation.
We show how time-dependent magnetic fields lead to spin motive forces and spin drag in a spinor Bose gas. We propose to observe these effects in a toroidal trap and analyze this particular proposal in some detail. In the linear-response regime we define a transport coefficient that is analogous to the usual drag resistivity in electron bilayer systems. Due to Bose enhancement of atom-atom scattering, this coefficient strongly increases as temperature is lowered. We also investigate the effects of heating.

We use kinetic theory to model the dynamics of a small Bose condensed cloud of heavy particles moving through a larger degenerate Fermi gas of light particles. Varying the Bose-Fermi interaction, we find a crossover between bulk and surface dominated regimes -- where scattering occurs throughout the Bose cloud, or solely on the surface. We calculate the damping and frequency shift of the dipole mode in a harmonic trap as a function of the magnetic field controlling an inter-species Feshbach resonance. We find excellent agreement between our stochastic model and the experimental studies of Cs-L…
In multicomponent superfluids and superconductors, co- and counter-flows of components have in general different properties. It was discussed in 1975 by Andreev and Bashkin, in the context of He$^3$/He$^4$ superfluid mixtures, that inter-particle interactions produce a dissipationless drag. The drag can be understood as a superflow of one component induced by phase gradients of the other component. Importantly the drag can be both positive (entrainment) and negative (counter-flow). The effect is known to be of crucial importance for many properties of diverse physical systems ranging from the …
We theoretically investigate the elusive Andreev-Bashkin collisionless drag for a two-component onedimensional Bose-Hubbard model on a ring. By means of tensor network algorithms, we calculate the superfluid stiffness matrix as a function of intra- and interspecies interactions and of the lattice filling. We then focus on the most promising region close to the so-called pair-superfluid phase, where we observe that the drag can become comparable with the total superfluid density. We elucidate the importance of the drag in determining the long-range behavior of the correlation functions and the …
We investigate the drag force on a moving impurity in a spin-orbit coupled Bose-Einstein condensate. We prove rigorously that the superfluid critical velocity is zero when the impurity moves in all but one directions, in contrast to the case of liquid helium and superconductor where it is finite in all directions. We also find that when the impurity moves in all directions except two special ones, the drag force has nonzero transverse component at small velocity. When the velocity becomes large and the states of the upper band are also excited, the transverse force becomes very small due to op…
The superfluid drag-coefficient of a weakly interacting three-component Bose-Einstein condensate is computed deep into the superfluid phase, starting from a Bose-Hubbard model with component-conserving, on-site interactions and nearest-neighbor hopping. Rayleigh-Schrödinger perturbation theory is employed to provide an analytic expression for the drag density. In addition, the Hamiltonian is diagonalized numerically to compute the drag within mean-field theory at both zero and finite temperatures to all orders in inter-component interactions. Moreover, path integral Monte Carlo simulations hav…
It is well known that the charge current in a conductor is proportional to the applied electric field. This famous relation, known as Ohm's law, is the result of relaxation of the current due to charge carriers undergoing collisions, predominantly with impurities and lattice vibrations in the material. The field of spintronics, where the spin of the electron is manipulated rather than its charge, has recently also led to interest in spin currents. Contrary to charge currents, these spin currents can be subject to strong relaxation due to collisions between different spin species, a phenomenon …
The phase diagram of a spin-orbit-coupled two-component Bose gas includes a supersolid stripe phase, which is featuring density modulations along the direction of the spin-orbit coupling. This phase has been recently found experimentally [J.~Li \textit{et al.}, Nature (London) \textbf{543}, 91 (2017)]. In the present work we characterize the superfluid behavior of the stripe phase by calculating the drag force acting on a moving impurity. Because of the gapless band structure of the excitation spectrum, the Landau critical velocity vanishes if the motion is not strictly parallel to the stripes…
We study two-species Bose-Einstein condensates in quasi two-dimensional optical lattices of varying geometry and potential depth. Based on the numerically exact Bloch and Wannier functions obtained using the plane-wave expansion method, we quantify the drag (entrainment coupling) between the condensate components. This drag originates from the (short range) inter-species interaction and increases with the kinetic energy. As a result of the interplay between interaction and kinetic energy effects, the superfluid-drag coefficient shows a non-monotonic dependence on the lattice depth. To make con…
The existence of frictionless flow below a critical velocity for obstacles moving in a superfluid is well established in the context of the mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii theory. We calculate the next order correction due to quantum and thermal fluctuations and find a non-zero force acting on a delta-function impurity moving through a quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate at all subcritical velocities and at all temperatures. The force occurs due to an imbalance in the Doppler shifts of reflected quantum fluctuations from either side of the impurity. Our calculation is based on a consist…
We consider the motion of a point-like impurity through a three-dimensional two-component Bose-Einstein condensate subject to Weyl spin-orbit coupling. Using linear-response theory, we calculate the drag force felt by the impurity and the associated anisotropic critical velocity from the spectrum of elementary excitations. The drag force is shown to be generally not collinear with the velocity of the impurity. This unusual behavior is a consequence of condensation into a finite-momentum state due to the spin-orbit coupling.
An important component of the structure of the atom, the effects of spin-orbit coupling are present in many sub-fields of physics. Most of these effects are present continuously. We present a detailed study of the dynamics of changing the spin-orbit coupling in an ultra-cold Bose gas, coupling the motion of the atoms to their spin. We find that the spin-orbit coupling greatly increases the damping towards equilibrium. We interpret this damping as spin drag, which is enhanced by spin-orbit coupling rate, scaled by a remarkable factor of $8.9(6)$~s. We also find that spin-orbit coupling lowers t…
We consider spin transport in a two-component atomic Bose gas in three dimensions, at temperatures just above the critical temperature for Bose-Einstein condensation. In these systems the spin conductivity is determined by spin drag, i.e., frictional drag between the two spin components due to interactions. We find that in the critical region the temperature dependence of the spin conductivity deviates qualitatively from the Boltzmann result and is fully determined by the critical exponents of the phase transition. We discuss the size of the critical region where these results may be observed …
In this work we are concerned with the understanding of the collisionless drag or entrainment between two superfluids, also called Andreev-Bashkin effect, in terms of current response functions. The drag density is shown to be proportional to the cross transverse current-current response function, playing the role of a normal component for the single species superfluid density. We can in this way link the existence of finite entrainment with the exhaustion of the energy-weighted sum rule in the spin channel. The formalism is then used to reproduce some known results for a weakly interacting Bo…
Andreev-Bashkin drag plays a very important role in multiple areas like superfluid mixtures, superconductors and dense nuclear matter. Here, we point out that the drag phenomenon can be also important in physics of solitons, ubiquitous objects arising in a wide array of fields ranging from tsunami waves and fiber-optic communication to biological systems. So far, fruitful studies were conducted in ultracold atomic systems where nontrivial soliton dynamics occurred due to inter-component density-density interaction. In this work we show that current-current coupling between components (Andreev-…
We investigate a model of a two-component Bose-Einstein condensate residing on an optical lattice. Within a Bogolioubov-approach at the mean-field level, we derive exact analytical expressions for the excitation spectrum of the two-component condensate when taking into account hopping and interactions between arbitrary sites. Our results thus constitute a basis for works that seek to clarify the effects of higher-order interactions in the system. We investigate the excitation spectrum and the two branches of superfluid velocity in more detail for two limiting cases of particular relevance. Mor…
We provide a detailed presentation of the functional renormalisation group (FRG) approach for weakly-interacting Bose-Bose mixtures, including a complete discussion on the RG equations. To test this approach, we examine thermodynamic properties of balanced three-dimensional Bose-Bose gases at zero and finite temperatures and find a good agreement with related works. We also study ground-state energies of repulsive Bose polarons by examining mixtures in the limit of infinite population imbalance. Finally, we discuss future applications of the FRG to novel problems in Bose-Bose mixtures and rela…
We generalize the Beliaev diagrammatic theory of an interacting spinless Bose-Einstein condensate to the case of a binary mixture. We derive a set of coupled Dyson equations and find analytically the Green's functions of the system. The elementary excitation spectrum consists of two branches, one of which takes the characteristic parabolic form in the limit of a spin-independent interaction. We observe renormalization of the magnon mass and the spin-wave velocity due to the Andreev-Bashkin entrainment effect. For a 3D weakly-interacting gas the spectrum can be obtained by applying the Bogoliub…
We present a comprehensive discussion of the ground-state properties of dilute $D$-dimensional Bose gas interacting with a few static impurities. Assuming the short-ranged character of the boson-impurity interaction, we calculate the energy of three- and two-dimensional Bose systems with one and two impurities immersed.
By applying a sudden perturbation to one of the components of a mixture of two quantum fluids, we explore the effect on the motion of the second component on a short time scale. By implementing perturbation theory, we prove that for short times the response of the second component is fixed by the energy weighted moment of the crossed dynamic structure factor (crossed f-sum rule). We also show that by properly monitoring the time duration of the perturbation it is possible to identify peculiar fast spin drag regimes, which are sensitive to the interaction effects in the Hamiltonian. Special foc…
A weakly interacting Bose gas on a simple cubic lattice is considered. We prove the existence of the standard or zero-mode Bose condensation at sufficiently low temperature. This result is valid for sufficiently small interaction potential and small values of chemical potential. Our method exploits infrared bound for the suitable two-point Bogolyubov's inner product. We do not use the reflection positivity or some expansion methods.
Developing Bogoliubov theory of weakly interacting Bose gas in uncompacted three-dimension space, quantum fluctuation energy of one component dilute gas of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) confined to two parallel plates investigated at zero-temperature in grand canonical ensemble (GCE) with Neumann boundary condition (BC). The Casimir force considered in comparison to the one with Robin BC, Dirichlet BC and periodic BC.
The one-dimensional Bose gas is an unusual superfluid. In contrast to higher spatial dimensions, the existence of non-classical rotational inertia is not directly linked to the dissipationless motion of infinitesimal impurities. Recently, experimental tests with ultracold atoms have begun and quantitative predictions for the drag force experienced by moving obstacles have become available. This topical review discusses the drag force obtained from linear response theory in relation to Landau's criterion of superfluidity. Based upon improved analytical and numerical understanding of the dynamic…
A weakly interacting Bose gas with a single static impurity is studied in one dimension. The local spectral density is evaluated and an analytic expression valid for positive strengths of the impurity coupling to the bosons, at all distances and at all frequencies is obtained using the Bogoliubov-de Gennes approximation.
The critical temperature of Bose-Einstein condensation essentially depends on internal properties of the system as well as on the geometry of a trapping potential. The peculiarities of defining the phase transition temperature of Bose-Einstein condensation for different systems are reviewed, including homogenous Bose gas, trapped Bose atoms, and bosons in optical lattices. The method of self-similar approximants, convenient for calculating critical temperature, is briefly delineated.
We study the hydrodynamic forces acting on a small impurity moving in a two-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate at non-zero temperature. The condensate is modelled by the damped-Gross Pitaevskii (dGPE) equation and the impurity by a Gaussian repulsive potential coupled to the condensate. For weak coupling, we obtain analytical expressions for the forces acting on the impurity, and compare them with those computed through direct numerical simulations of the dGPE and with the corresponding expressions for classical forces. For non-steady flows, there is a time-dependent force dominated by inert…
In the present work we consider models of quantum droplets in the presence of a defect in the form of a laser beam moving through the respective condensates including the Lee-Huang-Yang correction. Our analysis features separately an exploration of the existence, stability, bifurcations and dynamics in 1D, 2D and 3D settings. In the absence of an analytical solution of the problem, we provide an analysis of the speed of sound and observe how the states traveling with the defect may feature a saddle-center bifurcation as the speed or the strength of the defect is modified. Relevant bifurcation …
We study the low-temperature thermodynamics of weakly-interacting uniform liquids in one-dimensional attractive Bose-Bose mixtures.~The Bogoliubov approach is used to simultaneously describe quantum and thermal fluctuations. First, we investigate in detail two different thermal mechanisms driving the liquid-to-gas transition, the dynamical instability and the evaporation, and we draw the phase diagram. Then, we compute the main thermodynamic quantities of the liquid, such as the chemical potential, the Tan's contact, the adiabatic sound velocity and the specific heat at constant volume. The st…
We study the properties of an impurity immersed in a weakly interacting Bose gas, i.e., of a Bose polaron. In the perturbatively-tractable of limit weak impurity-boson interactions many of its properties are known to depend only on the scattering length. Here we demonstrate that for strong (unitary) impurity-boson interactions all static quasiproperties of a Bose polaron in a dilute Bose gas, such as its energy, its residue, its Tan's contact and the number of bosons trapped nearby the impurity, depend on the impurity-boson potential via a single parameter.
We investigate a bosonic quantum gas consisting of two interacting species in an optical lattice at zero and finite temperature. The equilibrium properties and dynamics of this system are obtained by means of the Gutzwiller mean-field method. In particular we model recent experiments where the ramp-up of the optical lattice occurs on a time scale comparable to the tunneling time of the bosons. We demonstrate the violation of adiabaticity of this process with respect to the many-body quantum states, and reproduce and explain the oscillations of the visibility as a function of ramp-up time, as s…
We study thermodynamic properties of weakly interacting Bose gases above the transition temperature of Bose-Einstein condensation in the framework of a thermodynamic perturbation theory. Cases of local and non-local interactions between particles are analyzed both analytically and numerically. We obtain and compare the temperature dependencies for the chemical potential, entropy, pressure, and specific heat to those of noninteracting gases. The results set reliable benchmarks for thermodynamic characteristics and their asymptotic behavior in dilute atomic and molecular Bose gases above the tra…
We study coherent dynamics of two interacting Bose-Bose droplets by means of the extended Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The relative motion of the droplets couples to the phases of their components. The dynamics can be understood in terms of the evolution of zero-energy modes recovering symmetries spontaneously broken by the mean-field solution. These are translational symmetry and two U(1) symmetries, associated with the phases of the droplets' two components. A phase-dependent interaction potential and double Josephson-junction equations are introduced to explain the observed variety of differe…
The flow of a uniform Bose gas at speeds greater than the Landau critical velocity, v_c, does not necessarily destroy superfluidity, but rather need only lead to a decrease of the superfluid mass density, ρ_s. Analyzing a weakly interacting Bose gas with a finite range interparticle interaction that leads to a Landau critical velocity at non-zero quasiparticle momentum, we explicitly construct the (non-uniform) condensate for fluid flow faster than v_c and calculate the accompanying decrease in ρ_s. We briefly comment on the relation of the physics to other problems in superfluids, e.g., solit…
We investigate the dimensionally induced phase transition from the normal to the Bose-Einstein-condensed phase for a weakly interacting Bose gas in an optical lattice. To this end we make use of the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov-Popov theory, where we include numerically exact hopping energies and effective interaction strengths. At first we determine the critical chemical potential, where we find a much better agreement with recent experimental data than a pure Hartree-Fock treatment. This finding is in agreement with the dominant role of quantum fluctuations in lower dimensions, as they are explic…
We study the localization of collective pair excitations in weakly-interacting Bose superfluids in one-dimensional quasiperiodic lattices. The localization diagram is first determined numerically. For intermediate interaction and quasiperiodic amplitude we find a sharp localization transition, with extended low-energy states and localized high-energy states. We then develop an analytical treatment, which allows us to quantitatively map the localization transition into that of an effective multiharmonic quasiperiodic system.
We study the localization properties of weakly interacting Bose gas in a quasiperiodic potential commonly known as Aubry-André model. Effect of interaction on localization is investigated by computing the `superfluid fraction' and `inverse participation ratio'. For interacting Bosons the inverse participation ratio increases very slowly after the localization transition due to `multisite localization' of the wave function. We also study the localization in Aubry-André model using an alternative approach of classical dynamical map, where the localization is manifested by chaotic classical dynam…
We analyze interacting one-dimensional bosons in the continuum, subject to a periodic sinusoidal potential of arbitrary depth. Variation of the lattice depth tunes the system from the Bose-Hubbard limit for deep lattices, through the sine-Gordon regime of weak lattices, to the complete absence of a lattice. Using the Bose-Fermi mapping between strongly interacting bosons and weakly interacting fermions, we derive the phase diagram in the parameter space of lattice depth and chemical potential. This extends previous knowledge from tight-binding (Bose-Hubbard) studies in a new direction which is…
We investigate multiparticle excitation effect on a collective density excitation as well as a single-particle excitation in a weakly interacting Bose--Einstein condensate (BEC). We find that although the weakly interacting BEC offers weak multiparticle excitation spectrum at low temperatures, this multiparticle excitation effect may not remain hidden, but emerges as bimodality in the density response function through the single-particle excitation. Identification of spectra in the BEC between the single-particle excitation and the density excitation is also assessed at nonzero temperatures, w…
We present a stochastic matter field equation for an interacting many-body Bose system in equilibrium at ultracold finite temperature. Moreover, the proposed equation can be used for non-equilibrium dynamics on phenomenological grounds. This stochastic differential equation is based on a field phase space representation reflecting the underlying canonical density operator (fixed particle number N). Remarkably, it allows for an efficient numerical implementation. We apply our canonical c-field method to interference experiments with quasi-one dimensional Bose gases. Crucial features of these in…
Using Landau's theory of two-fluid hydrodynamics, we investigate first and second sound propagating in a two-dimensional Bose gas. We study the temperature and interaction dependence of both sound modes and show that their behaviour exhibits a deep qualitative change as the gas evolves from the weakly interacting to the strongly interacting regime. Special emphasis is given to the jump of both sounds at the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition, caused by the discontinuity of the superfluid density. We find that the excitation of second sound through a density perturbation becomes weaker …
We show how density dependent gauge potentials can be induced in dilute gases of ultracold atoms using light-matter interactions. We study the effect of the resulting interacting gauge theory and show how it gives rise to novel topological states in the ultracold gas. We find in particular that the onset of persistent currents in a ring geometry is governed by a critical number of particles. The density-dependent gauge potential is also found to support chiral solitons in a quasi-one-dimensional ultracold Bose gas.
We derive a $1/c$-expansion for the single-particle density matrix of a strongly interacting time-dependent one-dimensional Bose gas, described by the Lieb-Liniger model ($c$ denotes the strength of the interaction). The formalism is derived by expanding Gaudin's Fermi-Bose mapping operator up to $1/c$-terms. We derive an efficient numerical algorithm for calculating the density matrix for time-dependent states in the strong coupling limit, which evolve from a family of initial conditions in the absence of an external potential. We have applied the formalism to study contraction dynamics of a …
We investigate theoretically the phase diagram of a spin-orbit coupled Bose gas in two-dimensional harmonic traps. We show that discrete Landau levels develop at strong spin-orbit coupling. For a weakly interacting gas, quantum states with skyrmion lattice patterns emerge spontaneously and preserve either parity symmetry or combined parity-time-reversal symmetry. These phases can be readily observed by experimentally engineering spin-orbit coupling and interatomic interactions for a cloud of $^{87}$Rb atoms in a highly oblate trap.
We suggest and study the stable disk- and cigar-shaped gap solitons of a dipolar Bose-Einstein condensate of $^{52}$Cr atoms localized in the lowest band gap by three optical-lattice (OL) potentials along orthogonal directions. The one-dimensional version of these solitons of experimental interest confined by an OL along the dipole moment direction and harmonic traps in transverse directions is also considered. Important dynamics of (i) breathing oscillation of a gap soliton upon perturbation and (ii) dragging of a gap soliton by a moving lattice along axial $z$ direction demonstrates the stab…
A self-consistent field model for a mixture of Bose and Fermi particles is formulated. There is explored in detail the case of a delta-like interaction, for which the thermodynamic functions are obtained, and Bose-Einstein condensation of interacting particles in the presence of the admixture of fermions is studied. It is shown that the admixture of Fermi particles leads to reducing of the temperature of Bose-Einstein condensation and smoothing of features of thermodynamic quantities at the transition temperature. As in the case of a pure Bose system, in the state of a mixture with condensate …
We study the expansion dynamics of a condensate in a strongly interacting Bose gas in the presence of an obstacle. Our focus is on the generation of shock waves after the Bose gas has passed the obstacle. The strongly interacting Bose gas is described in the slave-boson representation. A saddle-point approximation provides a nonlinear equation of motion for the macroscopic wave function, analogous to the Gross-Pitaevskii equation of a weakly interacting Bose gas but with different nonlinearity. We compare the results with the Gross-Pitaevskii dynamics of a weakly interacting Bose gas and find …
We describe a diabatic protocol to prepare a strongly-interacting Bose-Einstein condensate in a regime where neither an adiabatic ramp nor a direct diabatic quench are desirable. This protocol is expected to achieve a nearly unit population transfer to the strongly-interacting ground state for realistic experimental parameters for $^{85}$Rb. The protocol matches the initial and final density profiles by modifying the trap along with the scattering length during the quench. The protocol should reveal several properties of the strongly-interacting Bose gas, and enable further investigation of be…
We describe the dynamical preparation of magnetic states in a strongly interacting two-component Bose gas in a harmonic trap. By mapping this system to an effective spin chain model, we obtain the dynamical spin densities and the fidelities for a few-body system. We show that the spatial profiles transit between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic states as the intraspecies interaction parameter is slowly increased.
We study the one-dimensional Bose gas in spatially correlated disorder at zero temperature, using an extended density-phase Bogoliubov method. We analyze in particular the decay of the one-body density matrix and the behaviour of the Bogoliubov excitations across the phase boundary. We observe that the transition to the Bose glass phase is marked by a power-law divergence of the density of states at low energy. A measure of the localization length displays a power-law energy dependence in both regions, with the exponent equal to -1 at the boundary. We draw the phase diagram of the superfluid-i…
Grand-canonical fluctuations of Bose-Einstein condensates of light are accessible to state-of-the-art experiments [J. Schmitt et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 112, 030401 (2014).]. We phenomenologically describe these fluctuations by using the grand-canonical ensemble for a weakly interacting Bose gas at thermal equilibrium. For a two-dimensional harmonic trap, we use two models for which the canonical partition functions of the weakly interacting Bose gas are given by exact recurrence relations. We find that the grand-canonical condensate fluctuations for weakly interacting Bose gases vanish at zero …
Two-time correlation functions of a system of Bose particles are studied. We find relation of zeros of the correlation functions with the Lee-Yang zeros of partition function of the system. Obtained relation gives the possibility to observe the Lee-Yang zeros experimentally. A particular case of Bose particles on two levels is examined and zeros of two-time correlation functions and Lee-Yang zeros of partition function of the system are analyzed.
Nonuniversal effects due to leading effective-range corrections are computed for the ground-state energy of the weakly-coupled repulsive Bose gas in two spatial dimensions. Using an effective field theory of contact interactions, these corrections are computed first by considering fluctuations around the mean-field free energy of a system of interacting bosons. This result is then confirmed by an exact calculation in which the energy of a finite number of bosons interacting in a square with period boundary conditions is computed and the thermodynamic limit is explicitly taken.
We present a rigorous analysis of the generalized Landau-Zener problem for the two-level interacting Bose-Einstein condensates. We show that the dynamics of the system is accurately, in detail, described by a two-term variational ansatz that is valid for the whole time domain and is applicable for any set of involved parameters. Applying an exact third order nonlinear differential equation we construct an advanced fifth order polynomial equation for the final transition probability serving as a highly accurate generalized Landau-Zener formula.
We consider a two-component Bose gas in two dimensions at low temperature with short-range repulsive interaction. In the coexistence phase where both components are superfluid, inter-species interactions induce a nondissipative drag between the two superfluid flows (Andreev-Bashkin effect). We show that this behavior leads to a modification of the usual Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition in two dimensions. We extend the renormalization of the superfluid densities at finite temperature using the renormalization group approach and find that the vortices of one component have a larg…
We study the dynamics of a Bose-Einstein condensate trapped circumferentially on a ring, and which is governed by an interacting gauge theory. We show that the associated density-dependent gauge potential and concomitant current nonlinearity permits a ground state in the form of a rotating chiral bright soliton. This chiral soliton is constrained to move in one direction by virtue of the current nonlinearity, and represents a time crystal in the same vein as Wilczek's original proposal.
We explore Loschmidt echo in two regimes of one-dimensional (1D) interacting Bose gases: the strongly interacting Tonks-Girardeau (TG) regime, and the weakly-interacting mean-field regime. We find that the Loschmidt echo of a TG gas decays as a Gaussian when small perturbations are added to the Hamiltonian (the exponent is proportional to the number of particles and the magnitude of a small perturbation squared). In the mean-field regime the Loschmidt echo decays faster for larger interparticle interactions (nonlinearity), and it shows richer behavior than the TG Loschmidt echo dynamics, with …
