We study higher-dimensional interlacing Fibonacci sequences, generated via both Chebyshev type functions and $m$-dimensional recurrence relations. For each integer $m$, there exist both rational and integer versions of these sequences, where the underlying prime congruence structures of the rational sequence denominators enables the integer sequence to be recovered.
From either the rational or the integer sequences we construct sequences of vectors in $\mathbb{Q}^m$, which converge to irrational algebraic points in $\mathbb{R}^m$. The rational sequence terms can be expressed as simple recurrences, trigonometric sums, binomial polynomials, sums of squares, and as sums over ratios of powers of the signed diagonals of the regular unit $n$-gon. These sequences also exhibit a "rainbow type" quality, and correspond to the Fleck numbers at negative indices, leading to some combinatorial identities involving binomial coefficients.
It is shown that the families of orthogonal generating polynomials defining the recurrence relations employed, are divisible by the minimal polynomials of certain algebraic numbers, and the three-term recurrences and differential equations for these polynomials are derived. Further results relating to the Christoffel-Darboux formula, Rodrigues' formula and raising and lowering operators are also discussed. Moreover, it is shown that the Mellin transforms of these polynomials satisfy a functional equation of the form $p_n(s)=\pm p_n(1-s)$, and have zeros only on the critical line Re $s=1/2$.
We establish new connection formulae between Fibonacci polynomials and Chebyshev polynomials of the first and second kinds. These formulae are expressed in terms of certain values of hypergeometric functions of the type 2F1. Consequently, we obtain some new expressions for the celebrated Fibonacci numbers and their derivatives sequences. Moreover, we evaluate some definite integrals involving products of Fibonacci and Chebyshev polynomials.
Chebyshev polynomials and their modifications are attributes of various fields of mathematics. In particular, they are generating functions of the rows elements of certain Riordan matrices. In paper, we give a selection of some characteristic situations in which such matrices are involved. Using the columns and rows of these matrices, we will build the bases of the space of formal power series and the space of polynomials, the properties of which allow us to call them "Fibonacci bases".
In this paper, we get the generating functions of q-Chebyshev polynomials using operator. Also considering explicit formulas of q-Chebyshev polynomials, we give new generalizations of q-Chebyshev polynomials called incomplete q-Chebyshev polynomials of the first and second kind. We obtain recurrence relations and several properties of these polynomials. We show that there are connections between incomplete q-Chebyshev polynomials and the some well-known polynomials. Keywords: q-Chebyshev polynomials, q-Fibonacci polynomials, Incomplete polynomials, Fibonacci number
The main object of the paper is to reveal connections between Chebyshev polynomials of the first and second kinds and Fibonacci polynomials introduced by Catalan. This is achieved by relating the respective (ordinary and exponential) generating functions to each other. As a consequence, we also establish new combinatorial identities for balancing polynomials and Fibonacci (Lucas) numbers.
We give a direct and intuitive proof (via sliding some columns up and down) of the following interesting fact: if we write out the Chebyshev polynomials in a chart and take the sums of coefficients along certain diagonals, we obtain the Fibonaccis, the Tribonaccis, the Tetranaccis, and so on.
A second order polynomial sequence is of \emph{Fibonacci-type} (\emph{Lucas-type}) if its Binet formula has a structure similar to that for Fibonacci (Lucas) numbers. Known examples of these type of sequences are: Fibonacci polynomials, Pell polynomials, Fermat polynomials, Chebyshev polynomials, Morgan-Voyce polynomials, Lucas polynomials, Pell-Lucas polynomials, Fermat-Lucas polynomials, Chebyshev polynomials. The \emph{resultant} of two polynomials is the determinant of the Sylvester matrix and the \emph{discriminant} of a polynomial $p$ is the resultant of $p$ and its derivative. We study …
In this paper we generalize to bivariate polynomials of Fibonacci and Lucas, properties obtained for Chebyshev polynomials. We prove that the coordinates of the bivariate polynomials over appropriate basis are families of integers satisfying remarkable recurrence relations.
In this paper, we give some determinantal and permanental representations of generalized bivariate Fibonacci p-polynomials by using various Hessenberg matrices. The results that we obtained are important since generalized bivariate Fibonacci p-polynomials are general form of, for example, bivariate Fibonacci and Pell p-polynomials, second kind Chebyshev polynomials, bivariate Jacobsthal polynomials etc.
In this paper, we find the closed sums of certain type of Fibonacci related convergent series. In particular, we generalize some results already obtained by Brousseau, Popov, Rabinowitz and others.
A second order polynomial sequence is of Fibonacci-type $\mathcal{F}_{n}$ (Lucas-type $\mathcal{L}_{n}$) if its Binet formula has a structure similar to that for Fibonacci (Lucas) numbers. Under certain conditions these polynomials are irreducible if and only if $n$ is a prime number. For example, the Fibonacci polynomials, Pell polynomials, Fermat polynomials, Lucas polynomials, Pell-Lucas polynomials, Fermat-Lucas polynomials are irreducible when $n$ is a prime number; and Chebyshev polynomials (second kind), Morgan-Voyce polynomials (Fibonacci type), and Vieta polynomials are reducible when…
A second order polynomial sequence is of Fibonacci type (Lucas type) if its Binet formula is similar in structure to the Binet formula for the Fibonacci (Lucas) numbers. In this paper we generalize identities from Fibonacci numbers and Lucas numbers to Fibonacci type and Lucas type polynomials. A Fibonacci type polynomial is equivalent to a Lucas type polynomial if they both satisfy the same recurrence relations. Most of the identities provide relationships between two equivalent polynomials. In particular, each type of identities in this paper relate the following polynomial sequences: Fibona…
In this paper we study how to accelerate the convergence of the ratios (x_n) of generalized Fibonacci sequences. In particular, we provide recurrent formulas in order to generate subsequences (x_{g_n}) for every linear recurrent sequence (g_n) of order 2. Using these formulas we prove that some approximation methods, as secant, Newton, Halley and Householder methods, can generate subsequences of (x_n). Moreover, interesting properties on Fibonacci numbers arise as an application. Finally, we apply all the results to the convergents of a particular continued fraction which represents quadratic …
Analytic summation of series involving higher-order derivatives of Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind and their applications to convolved linear recurrent sequences
Let $(F_n)$ be the sequence of Fibonacci numbers and, for each positive integer $k$, let $\mathcal{P}_k$ be the set of primes $p$ such that $\gcd(p - 1, F_{p - 1}) = k$. We prove that the relative density $\text{r}(\mathcal{P}_k)$ of $\mathcal{P}_k$ exists, and we give a formula for $\text{r}(\mathcal{P}_k)$ in terms of an absolutely convergent series. Furthermore, we give an effective criterion to establish if a given $k$ satisfies $\text{r}(\mathcal{P}_k) > 0$, and we provide upper and lower bounds for the counting function of the set of such $k$'s. As an application of our results, we give …
In this paper, we find the sums in closed form of certain type of Lucas-related convergent series. More precisely, we generalize the results already obtained by the author in his arXiv paper entitled: "Summation of certain infinite Fibonacci related series".
We construct a class of quadratic irrationals having continued fractions of period $n\geq2$ with "small" partial quotients for which certain integer multiples have continued fractions of period $1$, $2$ or $4$ with "large" partial quotients. We then show that numbers in the period of the new continued fraction are simple functions of the numbers in the periods of the original continued fraction. We give generalizations of some of the continued fractions and show that polynomials arising from the generalizations are related to Chebyshev and Fibonacci polynomials. We then show that some of these…
We prove an explicit formula for infinitely many convergents of Hurwitzian continued fractions that repeat several copies of the same constant and elements of one arithmetic progression, in a quasi-periodic fashion. The proof involves combinatorics and formal Laurent series. Using very little analysis we can express their limits in terms of (modified) Bessel functions and Fibonacci polynomials. The limit formula is a generalization of Lehmer's theorem that implies the continuous fraction expansions of $e$ and $\tan(1)$, and it can also be derived from Lehmer's work using Fibonacci polynomial i…
