The multipole response of neutron rich O and Sn isotopes is computed in Tamm-Dancoff and random-phase approximations using the canonical Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov quasi-particle basis. The calculations are performed using an intrinsic Hamiltonian composed of a $V_{lowk}$ potential, deduced from the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon interaction, corrected with phenomenological density dependent and spin-orbit terms. The effect of these two pieces on energies and multipole responses is discussed. The problem of removing the spurious admixtures induced by the center of mass motion and by the violation of the number of particles is investigated. The differences between the two theoretical approaches are discussed quantitatively. Attention is then focused on the dipole strength distribution, including the low-lying transitions associated to the pygmy resonance. Monopole and quadrupole responses are also briefly investigated. A detailed comparison with the available experimental spectra contributes to clarify the extent of validity of the two self-consistent approaches.
The semimicroscopic particle-hole dispersive optical model (PHDOM) is implemented to describe main properties of Isoscalar Giant Multipole Resonances (up to L=3) in medium-heavy closed-shell nuclei. The main properties are characterized by the strength distribution, transition density, partial and total probabilities of direct one-nucleon decay. Calculation results obtained for the 208Pb nucleus are compared with available experimental data.
Background: To access selected excited states of nuclei, within the framework of nuclear density functional theory, the quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) is commonly used. Purpose: We present a computationally efficient, fully self-consistent framework to compute the QRPA transition strength function of an arbitrary multipole operator in axially-deformed superfluid nuclei. Methods: The method is based on the finite amplitude method (FAM) QRPA, allowing fast iterative solution of QRPA equations. A numerical implementation of the FAM-QRPA solver module has been carried out for defo…
The five-dimensional quadrupole collective model based on energy density functionals (EDF) has often been employed to treat long-range correlations associated with shape fluctuations in nuclei. Our goal is to derive the collective inertial functions in the collective Hamiltonian by the local quasiparticle random phase approximation (QRPA) that correctly takes into account time-odd mean-field effects. Currently, practical framework to perform the QRPA calculation with the modern EDFs on the $(β,γ)$ deformation space is not available. Toward this goal, we develop an efficient numerical method to…
The effect of temperature on the evolution of the isovector dipole and isoscalar quadrupole excitations in $^{68}$Ni and $^{120}$Sn nuclei is studied within the fully self-consistent finite temperature quasiparticle random phase approximation framework, based on the Skyrme-type SLy5 energy density functional. The new low-energy excitations emerge due to the transitions from thermally occupied states to the discretized continuum at finite temperatures, whereas the isovector giant dipole resonance is not strongly impacted by the increase of temperature. The radiative dipole strength at low-energ…
To study shape fluctuations of nuclei in transitional regions, the collective Hamiltonian method has often been employed. We intend to construct the quadrupole collective Hamiltonian with the collective inertial functions given by the local quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA) based on the Skyrme energy density functional. For this purpose, we first construct a practical framework of Skyrme QRPA for triaxial nuclear shapes with the finite amplitude method (FAM). We show quadrupole strength functions for a triaxial superfluid nucleus $^{188}$Os and the Thouless-Valatin rotational mom…
Alpha($^{4}$He)-cluster models have often been used to describe light nuclei. Towards the application to multi-cluster systems involving heavy clusters, we study the relative wave functions of the $α+^{16}$O and $α+^{40}$Ca systems generated from phase-shift-equivalent potentials. In general, a potential between clusters is deep accommodating several redundant bound states which should be removed in an appropriate way. To avoid such a complicated computation, we generate a shallow-singular potential by using supersymmetric transformations from the original deep potential. Changes in the relati…

We study nuclear multipole resonances in the framework of the random phase approximation using the chiral potential NNLO$_{\text{sat}}$. This potential includes two- and three-body terms that has been simultaneously optimized to low-energy nucleon-nucleon scattering data and selected nuclear structure data. Our main foci have been the isoscalar monopole, isovector dipole, and isoscalar quadrupole resonances of the closed-shell nuclei, $^4$He, $^{16,22,24}$O, and $^{40,48}$Ca. These resonance modes have been widely observed in experiment. In addition, we use a renormalized chiral potential $V_{…
Within the PHFB approach, the $0^{+}\rightarrow 2^{+}$ transition of two neutrino double-$β$ decay of $^{94,96}$Zr, $^{100}$Mo, $^{104}$Ru, $^{110}$Pd, $^{128,130}$Te and $^{150}$Nd isotopes is studied employing wave functions generated with four different parametrizations of the pairing plus multipole type of two-nucleon interaction and the summation method. In comparison to the $0^{+}\rightarrow 0^{+}$ transition, the nuclear transition matrix elements $M_{2ν}(2^{+})$ are quite sensitive to the deformation of the yrast 2$^{+}$ state. Consideration of the available theoretical and experimenta…
We probe nuclear multipole resonances in the framework of the random-phase approximation by using the interaction obtained from the chiral effective field theory. The three-nucleon force is included in a form of the in-medium two-nucleon interaction which was derived from the chiral three-nucleon force. The isoscalar monopole, isoscalar dipole, isovector dipole and isoscalar quadrupole resonances of the closed-shell $^{56,68,78}$Ni have been investigated. The calculations reasonably reproduce the experimental multipole resonances of $^{56,68}$Ni, and well describe the pygmy dipole resonance an…
A generalized formula is provided, to calculate the M$_n$/M$_p$ ratio of the multipole transition matrix elements, in the framework of the so-called phenomenological analysis. It takes into account the possible difference between the neutron and proton radii and diffuseness, which can occur, especially in exotic nuclei. The validity domain of the original Bernstein formula is discussed, in the case of the proton scattering probe at few tens of MeV. The largest discrepancies are obtained for very neutron-rich nuclei (N/Z$\gtrsim$1.6) or when the electromagnetic deformation parameter is larger t…
