We identify a class of "quasi-compact semi-separated" (qcss) twisted presheaves of algebras A for which well-behaved Grothendieck abelian categories of quasi-coherent modules Qch(A) are defined. This class is stable under algebraic deformation, giving rise to a 1-1 correspondence between algebraic deformations of A and abelian deformations of Qch(A). For a qcss presheaf A, we use the Gerstenhaber-Schack (GS) complex to explicitely parameterize the first order deformations. For a twisted presheaf A with central twists, we descibe an alternative category QPr(A) of quasi-coherent presheaves which is equivalent to Qch(A), leading to an alternative, equivalent association of abelian deformations to GS cocycles of qcss presheaves of commutative algebras. Our construction applies to the restriction O of the structure sheaf of a scheme X to a finite semi-separating open affine cover (for which we have an equivalence between Qch(O) and Qch(X)). Under a natural identification of Gerstenhaber-Schack cohomology of O and Hochschild cohomology of X, our construction is shown to be equivalent to Toda's construction in the smooth case.
We determine versal non-commutative deformations of some simple collections in the categories of perverse coherent sheaves arising from tilting generators for projective morphisms.
We consider non-commutative deformations of sheaves on algebraic varieties. We develop some tools to determine parameter algebras of versal non-commutative deformations for partial simple collections and the structure sheaves of smooth rational curves. We apply them to universal flopping contractions of length 2 and higher. We confirm Donovan-Wemyss conjecture in the case of deformations of Laufer's flops.
We review the theory of non-commutative deformations of sheaves and describe a versal deformation by using an A-infinity algebra and the change of differentials of an injective resolution. We give some explicit non-trivial examples.
We shall develop a theory of multi-pointed non-commutative deformations of a simple collection in an abelian category, and construct relative exceptional objects and relative spherical objects in some cases. This is inspired by a work by Donovan and Wemyss.
In this paper we study classical deformations of diagrams of commutative algebras over a field of characteristic 0. In particular we determine several homotopy classes of DG-Lie algebras, each one of them controlling this above deformation problem: the first homotopy type is described in terms of the projective model structure on the category of diagrams of differential graded algebras, the others in terms of the Reedy model structure on truncated Bousfield-Kan approximations. The first half of the paper contains an elementary introduction to the projective model structure on the category of c…
We compare the obstruction classes defined in arXiv:1101.4069 to those defined by Illusie. We also give sheaf theoretic proofs of some of the standard properties of the cotangent complex.
We define a sheaf of abelian groups whose cohomology is represented by the cotangent complex. We show how obstructions to some standard deformation problems arise as the classes of torsors under and gerbes banded by this sheaf.
We prove the following criterion for the pro-representability of the deformation cohomology of a commutative formal Lie group. Let f be a flat and separated morphism between noetherian schemes. Assume that the target of f is flat over the integers. For a commutative formal Lie group E, we have the deformation cohomology of f with coefficients in E at our disposal. If the higher direct images of the tangent space of E are locally free and of finite rank then the deformation cohomology is pro-representable by a commutative formal Lie group.
We introduce an $A_\infty$-algebra structure on the Hochschild cohomology of the endomorphism bimodule of a finite-dimensional representation of an associative algebra. We prove that this structure determines a presentation for non-commutative deformations of the representation. From this, we deduce presentations of universal deformation rings of Galois representations. In turn, we apply these presentations in order to deduce universal deformation rings of Galois pseudorepresentations, supplying a a tangent and obstruction theory for pseudorepresentations. This generalizes the broadly used tan…
In this this paper we introduce entanglement among the points in a non-commutative scheme, in addition to the tangent directions. A diagram of $A$-modules is a pair $\uc=(|\uc|,Γ)$ where $|\uc|={V_1,...,V_r}$ is a set of $A$-modules, and $Γ=\{γ_{ij}(l)\}$ is a set of $A$-module homomorphisms $γ_{ij}(l):V_i\rightarrow V_j$, seen as the 0'th order tangent directions. This concludes the discussion on non-commutative schemes by defining the deformation theory for diagrams, making these the fundamental points of the non-commutative algebraic geometry, which means that the construction of non-commut…
We study marginal and relevant supersymmetric deformations of the N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions. Our primary innovation is the interpretation of the moduli spaces of vacua of these theories as non-commutative spaces. The construction of these spaces relies on the representation theory of the related quantum algebras, which are obtained from F-term constraints. These field theories are dual to superstring theories propagating on deformations of the AdS_5xS^5 geometry. We study D-branes propagating in these vacua and introduce the appropriate notion of algebraic geometry for non…
The cohomology groups of line bundles over complex tori (or abelian varieties) are classically studied invariants of these spaces. In this article, we compute the cohomology groups of line bundles over various holomorphic, non-commutative deformations of complex tori. Our analysis interpolates between two extreme cases. The first case is a calculation of the space of (cohomological) theta functions for line bundles over constant, commutative deformations. The second case is a calculation of the cohomologies of non-commutative deformations of degree-zero line bundles.
We analyse infinitesimal deformations of pairs $(X,\mathcal{F})$ with $\mathcal{F}$ a coherent sheaf on a smooth projective manifold $X$ over an algebraic closed field of characteristic $0$. We describe a differential graded Lie algebra controlling the deformation problem, and we prove an analog of a Mukai-Artamkin Theorem about the trace map.
Let $X$ be a complex torus of dimension $g$ and $\hat{X}$ be the dual torus. For any $g(g-1)/2$-tuple $λ$ of complex numbers of absolute value $1$, we define a non-commutative complex torus $X_λ$ as a sheaf of algebras on a real torus of dimension $g$. We prove that if all components of $λ$ are roots of unity, then the category of coherent sheaves on $X_λ$ is abelian and derived-equivalent to the category of coherent sheaves on $\hat{X}$ twisted by an element of the Brauer group of $\hat{X}$ determined by $λ$.
In this paper we develop the theory of non-commutative $\PP^1$-bundles over commutative (smooth) schemes. Such non-commutative $\PP^1$-bundles occur in the theory of $D$-modules but our definition is more general. We can show that every non-commutative deformation of a Hirzebruch surface is given by a non-commutative $\PP^1$-bundle over $\PP^1$ in our sense.
We suggest to compactify the universal covering of the moduli space of complex structures by non-commutative spaces. The latter are described by certain categories of sheaves with connections which are flat along foliations. In the case of abelian varieties this approach gives quantum tori as a non-commutative boundary of the moduli space. Relations to mirror symmetry, modular forms and deformation theory are discussed.
The classical Fourier-Mukai duality establishes an equivalence of categories between the derived categories of sheaves on dual complex tori. In this article we show that this equivalence extends to an equivalence between two dual objects. Both of these are generalized deformations of the complex tori. In one case, a complex torus is deformed formally in a non-commutative direction specified by a holomorphic Poisson structure. In the other, the dual complex torus is deformed in a B-field direction to a formal gerbe. We show these two deformations are Fourier-Mukai equivalent.
We give a short review of the algebraic procedure known as deformation quantisation, which replaces a commutative algebra with a non-commutative algebra. We use this framework to examine how the objects known as wavefunctions, as known in the quantum curve literature, arise from deformation quantisation. We give an example in terms of the planar conic $-y+x^2+2 xy + y^2$, and construct an associated wavefunction. We also give an example of the symplectic reduction of a wavefunction, following a procedure from Kontsevich and Soibelman arXiv:1701.09137.
In this note we explain that homotopy coherent simplicial nerve has to used intead of the standard definition in the author's papers on formal deformation theory. A convenient version of the notion of fibered category is presented which is useful once one works with simplicial categories.
We show that the moduli spaces of stable sheaves on projective schemes admit certain non-commutative structures, which we call quasi NC structures, generalizing Kapranov's NC structures. The completion of our quasi NC structure at a closed point of the moduli space gives a pro-representable hull of the non-commutative deformation functor of the corresponding sheaf developed by Laudal, Eriksen, Segal and Efimov-Lunts-Orlov. We also show that the framed stable moduli spaces of sheaves have canonical NC structures.
We compute the noncommutative deformations of a family of modules over the first Weyl algebra. This example shows some important properties of noncommutative deformation theory that separates it from commutative deformation theory.
The Cremona group acts on the field of two independent commutative variables over complex numbers. We provide a non-commutative ring that is an analog of non-commutative field of two independent variables and prove that the Cremona group embeds in the group of outer automorphisms of this ring. First proof of this result is technical, the second one is conceptual and gives a way to obtain non-commutative rings from the bounded derived categories of coherent sheaves.
Suppose that f is a projective birational morphism with at most one-dimensional fibres between d-dimensional varieties X and Y, satisfying ${\bf R}f_* \mathcal{O}_X = \mathcal{O}_Y$. Consider the locus L in Y over which f is not an isomorphism. Taking the scheme-theoretic fibre C over any closed point of L, we construct algebras $A_{fib}$ and $A_{con}$ which prorepresent the functors of commutative deformations of C, and noncommutative deformations of the reduced fibre, respectively. Our main theorem is that the algebras $A_{con}$ recover L, and in general the commutative deformations of neith…
In this article we introduce a new class of non-commutative projective curves and show that in certain cases the derived category of coherent sheaves on them has a tilting complex. In particular, we prove that the right bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a reduced rational projective curve with only nodes and cusps as singularities, can be fully faithfully embedded into the right bounded derived category of the finite dimensional representations of a certain finite dimensional algebra of global dimension two. As an application of our approach we show the dimension of the bounded d…
In this paper, we study equivalences between the categories of quasi-coherent sheaves on non-commutative noetherian schemes. In particular, give a new proof of Caldararu's conjecture about Morita equivalences of Azumaya algebras on noetherian schemes. Moreover, we derive necessary and sufficient condition for two reduced non-commutative curves to be Morita equivalent.
We use the Thom-Whitney construction to show that infinitesimal deformations of a coherent sheaf F are controlled by the differential graded Lie algebra of global sections of an acyclic resolution of the sheaf End(E), where E is any locally free resolution of F. In particular, one recovers the well known fact that the tangent space to deformations of F is Ext^1(F,F), and obstructions are contained in Ext^2(F,F). The main tool is the identification of the deformation functor associated with the Thom-Whitney DGLA of a semicosimplicial DGLA whose cohomology is concentrated in nonnegative degrees …
We study non-commutative projective lines over not necessarily algebraic bimodules. In particular, we give a complete description of their categories of coherent sheaves and show they are derived equivalent to certain bimodule species. This allows us to classify modules over these species and thus generalize, and give a geometric interpretation for, results of C. Ringel.
Traditionally, Hodge structures are associated with complex projective varieties. In my expository lectures I discussed a non-commutative generalization of Hodge structures in deformation quantization and in derived algebraic geometry.
