In this paper we develop the theory of non-commutative $\PP^1$-bundles over commutative (smooth) schemes. Such non-commutative $\PP^1$-bundles occur in the theory of $D$-modules but our definition is more general. We can show that every non-commutative deformation of a Hirzebruch surface is given by a non-commutative $\PP^1$-bundle over $\PP^1$ in our sense.

We give a method for constructing maps from a non-commutative scheme to a commutative projective curve. With the aid of Artin-Zhang's abstract Hilbert schemes, this is used to construct analogues of the extremal contraction of a $K$-negative curve with self-intersection zero on a smooth projective surface. Let E be a locally free, rank n bimodule over a smooth projective scheme X, and let A be the non-commutative symmetric algebra generated by E. We construct an internal Hom functor on the category of graded right A-modules. When E has rank 2, we prove that A is Gorenstein by computing the right derived functors of the internal Hom functor. When X is a smooth projective variety, we use the Gorensteinness of A to prove a version of Serre duality on Proj A, the non-commutative P^1 bundle defined by A.

We construct, using geometric invariant theory, a quasi-projective Deligne-Mumford stack of stable graded algebras. We also construct a derived enhancement, which classifies twisted bundles of stable graded A-infinity-algebras. The tangent complex of the derived scheme is given by graded Hochschild cohomology, which we relate to ordinary Hochschild cohomology. We obtain a version of Hilbert stability for non-commutative projective schemes.
Using the theory of dimer models Broomhead proved that every 3-dimensional Gorenstein affine toric variety Spec R admits a toric non-commutative crepant resolution (NCCR). We give an alternative proof of this result by constructing a tilting bundle on a (stacky) crepant resolution of Spec R using standard toric methods. Our proof does not use dimer models.

The Abuaf-Ueda flop is a 7-dimensional flop related to $G_2$ homogeneous spaces. The derived equivalence for this flop was first proved by Ueda using mutations of semi-orthogonal decompositions. In part I we introduce vertex rings, which bear the same relation to vertex algebras (or VOAs) as commutative, associative rings do to commutative, associative algebras over the complex numbers. We show that vertex rings are characterized by Goddard axioms. Non-commutative Hilbert schemes, introduced by M. V. Nori, parametrize left ideals of finite codimension in free algebras. More generally, parameter spaces of finite codimensional submodules of free modules over free algebras are considered. Cell decompositions of these varieties are constructed, whose cells are parametrized by certain types of forests. Asymptotics for the corresponding Poincare polynomials and properties of their generating functions are discussed.

This paper develops the tools of formal algebraic geometry in the setting of noncommutative manifolds, roughly ringed spaces locally modeled on the free associative algebra. We define a notion of noncommutative coordinate system, which is a principal bundle for an appropriate group of local coordinate changes. Namely, if A is a (non-commutative) graded AS Cohen-Macaulay algebra which is FBN and has finite Cohen-Macaulay type, then the non-commutative projective scheme determined by A is smooth.

A connection-like objects, termed {\em hom-connections} are defined in the realm of non-commutative geometry. The definition is based on the use of homomorphisms rather than tensor products. It is shown that hom-connections arise naturally from (strong) connections in non-commutative principal bundles. The induction procedure of hom-connections via a map of differential graded algebras or a differentiable bimodule is described. Principal $GL_n$-bundles (aka vector bundles) are locally trivial in the Zariski topology, whereas principal $PGL_n$-bundles (aka Azumaya algebras) are not, to the delight of every non-commutative algebraist. Still, this makes the calculation of motives of representation schemes of algebras next to impossible. In very special cases, Brauer-Severi schemes (and their motives) can be used to tackle this problem inductively. We illustrate this in the case of certain superpotential algebras.
