We present the gravity dual of large N supersymmetric gauge theories on a squashed five-sphere. The one-parameter family of solutions is constructed in Euclidean Romans F(4) gauged supergravity in six dimensions, and uplifts to massive type IIA supergravity. By renormalizing the theory with appropriate counterterms we evaluate the renormalized on-shell action for the solutions. We also evaluate the large N limit of the gauge theory partition function, and find precise agreement.
We construct supersymmetric theories on the SU(3)xU(1) symmetric squashed five-sphere with 2, 4, 6, and 12 supercharges. We first determine the Killing equation by dimensional reduction from 6d, and use Noether procedure to construct actions. The supersymmetric Yang-Mills action is straightforwardly obtained from the supersymmetric Chern-Simons action by using a supersymmetry preserving constant vector multiplet.
Localization of supersymmetric $\mathcal{N}=2$ Chern-Simons-Matter theory on a squashed $S^3$ with $SU(2)\times U(1)$ isometry has been studied by different groups of authors. In this paper, we localize the theory on a squashed $S^3$ with $SU(2)\times U(1)$ isometry and a class of complex background. We see that certain kinds of shifts of the background gauge fields are crucial in obtaining nontrivial results, and the previously found results on this manifold can be incorporated in our results as special limits.
We define a squashed four-sphere by a dimensional reduction of a twisted S^4 x S^1, and construct explicitly a supersymmetric Yang-Mills action on it. The action includes a non-trivial dilaton factor and a theta term with a non-constant theta. The partition function of this theory is calculated using the localization technique. The resulting partition function can be written in the form consistent with the AGT relation due to the non-constant theta term. The parameter b which characterizes the partition function in this form is not restricted to be real for the squashed four-sphere.
We study Euclidean 3D N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories on squashed three-spheres preserving isometries SU(2) x U(1) or U(1) x U(1). We show that, when a suitable background U(1) gauge field is turned on, these squashed spheres support charged Killing spinors and therefore N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories. We present the Lagrangian and supersymmetry rules for general gauge theories. The partition functions are computed using localization principle, and are expressed as integrals over Coulomb branch. For the squashed sphere with U(1) x U(1) isometry, its measure and integrand are identified wi…
We discuss the squashed fuzzy sphere, which is a projection of the fuzzy sphere onto the equatorial plane, and use it to illustrate the stringy aspects of noncommutative field theory. We elaborate explicitly how strings linking its two coincident sheets arise in terms of fuzzy spherical harmonics. In the large N limit, the matrix-model Laplacian is shown to correctly reproduce the semi-classical dynamics of these charged strings, as given by the Landau problem.
We investigate a squashing deformation of 3d N=2 supersymmetric theories on three-sphere, which have four supercharges. The deformation preserves SU(2)_L x U(1)_r isometry and all four supersymmetries. We compute the partition function and find non-trivial dependence on the squashing parameter. We also consider the large N limit of a certain class of quiver gauge theories which have free energy of order N^{3/2}, and show that the free energy on the squashed sphere differs from that on round sphere by a certain factor depending only on the squashing parameter.
We derive major parts of the eigenvalue spectrum of the operators on the squashed seven-sphere that appear in the compactification of eleven-dimensional supergravity. These spectra determine the mass spectrum of the fields in $AdS_4$ and are important for the corresponding ${\mathcal N} =1$ supermultiplet structure. This work is a continuation of the work in [1] where the complete spectrum of irreducible isometry representations of the fields in $AdS_4$ was derived for this compactification. Some comments are also made concerning the $G_2$ holonomy and its implications on the structure of the …
We derive an equivalence between the (2,0) superconformal M5-brane field theory dimensionally reduced on a squashed three-sphere, and Chern-Simons theory with complex gauge group. In the reduction, the massless fermions obtain an action which is second order in derivatives and are reinterpreted as ghosts for gauge fixing the emergent non-compact gauge symmetry. A squashing parameter in the geometry controls the imaginary part of the complex Chern-Simons level.
In this note we study type II superstring theory on the direct product of AdS3, the squashed three-sphere and a four-torus (AdS3 \times SqS3 \times T4). We derive explicitly the Green-Schwarz action and discuss in detail the hidden integrable structure corresponding to local and non-local currents. We find that the model is classically integrable and that the currents generate a full psu(1, 1|2) superalgebra, even though the corresponding spacetime isometries are broken by the squashing.
We discuss the integrability of 2d non-linear sigma models with target space being the squashed three-sphere, warped anti-de Sitter space and the Schroedinger spacetime. These models can be obtained via T-duality from integrable models. We construct an infinite family of non-local conserved charges from the T-dual Lax currents, enhancing the symmetry of warped anti-de Sitter space and the Schroedinger spacetime to sl2(R)+sl2(R).
We present the gravity dual to a class of three-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories on a biaxially squashed three-sphere, with a non-trivial background gauge field. This is described by a 1/2 BPS Euclidean solution of four-dimensional N=2 gauged supergravity, consisting of a Taub-NUT-AdS metric with a non-trivial instanton for the graviphoton field. The holographic free energy of this solution agrees precisely with the large N limit of the free energy obtained from the localized partition function of a class of Chern-Simons quiver gauge theories. We also discuss a different supersymm…
We compute the partition function of $\mathcal N=2$ supersymmetric mixed dimensional QED on a squashed hemisphere using localization. Mixed dimensional QED is an abelian gauge theory coupled to charged matter fields at the boundary. The partition function is a function of the complex gauge coupling $τ$, the choice of R-symmetry and the squashing deformation. The superconformal R-symmetry is determined using the 3-dimensional F-maximization. The free energy as a function of squashing deformation allows computing correlation functions that contain the insertion of the energy-momentum tensor. We …
The effective actions of a scalar and massless spin-half field are determined as functions of the deformation of a symmetrically squashed three-sphere. The extreme oblate case is particularly examined as pertinant to a high temperature statistical mechanical interpretation that may be relevant for the holographic principle. Interpreting the squashing parameter as a temperature, we find that the effective `free energies' on the three-sphere are mixtures of thermal two-sphere scalars and spinors which, in the case of the spinor on the three-sphere, have the `wrong' thermal periodicities. However…
We present a new one-parameter family of supersymmetric solutions deforming AdS_5. This is constructed as an asymptotically locally anti de Sitter (AlAdS) solution of five-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity, with topology R x R^4 and a non-trivial graviphoton field, and can be uplifted to ten or eleven dimensional supergravities. An analytic continuation of this solution yields the gravity dual to a class of four-dimensional N=1 supersymmetric gauge theories on a curved manifold with topology S^1 x S^3, comprising an SU(2) x U(1)-symmetric squashed three-sphere, with a non-trivial backgro…
We present the gravity dual to a class of three-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories on a U(1) x U(1)-invariant squashed three-sphere, with a non-trivial background gauge field. This is described by a supersymmetric solution of four-dimensional N=2 gauged supergravity with a non-trivial instanton for the graviphoton field. The particular gauge theory in turn determines the lift to a solution of eleven-dimensional supergravity. We compute the partition function for a class of Chern-Simons quiver gauge theories on both sides of the duality, in the large N limit, finding precise agreemen…
We show that there are two supersymmetric completions of the three-dimensional Chern-Simons theory of level k with gauge group U(N)xU(N) coupled to four sets of massless scalars and spinors in the bi-fundamental representation, if we require Sp(2) global symmetry with the matter fields in the fundamental representation of SU(4). One is the N=6 superconformal theory recently studied in arXiv:0806.1218 [hep-th] and another is a new theory with N=1 superconformal symmetry. We conjecture that the N=1 theory is dual to M theory on AdS_4 x Squashed S^7/Z_k.
We study in Kaluza-Klein theories stability of the extra space against "squashing", in other words, the homogeneous deformation. Quantum fluctuations of matter fields at one-loop level are taken into consideration. We calculate the effective potential in models of the type, $M^4\times S^3$ and $M^4\times S^7$. It is found that in the case of scalar matter fields the stability depends on the coupling to the scalar curvature.
Three-dimensional $\mathcal{N} = 4$ superconformal field theories contain 1d topological sectors consisting of twisted linear combinations of half-BPS local operators that can be inserted anywhere along a line. After a conformal mapping to a round three-sphere, the 1d sectors are now defined on a great circle of $S^3$. We show that the 1d topological sectors are preserved under the squashing of the sphere. For gauge theories with matter hypermultiplets, we use supersymmetric localization to derive an explicit description of the topological sector associated with the Higgs branch. Furthermore, …
Partition functions of N=2 theories on the squashed 3-sphere have been recently shown to localise to matrix integrals. By explicitly evaluating the matrix integral we show that abelian partition functions can be expressed as a sum of products of two blocks. We identify the first block with the partition function of the vortex theory, with equivariant parameter hbar=2 Pi i b^2, defined on R^2 x S_1 corresponding to the b->0 degeneration of the ellipsoid. The second block gives the partition function of the vortex theory with equivariant parameter hbar^L=2 Pi i/b^2, on the dual R^2 x S_1 corresp…
We construct the gravity duals of large N supersymmetric gauge theories defined on squashed five-spheres with SU(3) x U(1) symmetry. These five-sphere backgrounds are continuously connected to the round sphere, and we find a one-parameter family of 3/4 BPS deformations and a two-parameter family of (generically) 1/4 BPS deformations. The gravity duals are constructed in Euclidean Romans F(4) gauged supergravity in six dimensions, and uplift to massive type IIA supergravity. We holographically renormalize the Romans theory, and use our general result to compute the renormalized on-shell actions…
We study $N=2$ supersymmetric gauge theories on a large family of squashed 4-spheres preserving $SU(2)\times U(1)\subset SO(4)$ isometry and determine the conditions under which this background is supersymmetric. We then compute the partition function of the theories by using localization technique. The results indicate that for $N=2$ SUSY, including both vector-multiplets and hypermultiplets, the partition function is independent of the arbitrary squashing functions as well as of the other supergravity background fields.
We studied the supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric perturbations to cascading gauge theory. In particular we use KT background and the back reaction of the generic linearized perturbation make the dilaton to run and the $T^{(1,1)}$ gets squashed which in turn make the supersymmetry to be broken. But if we make a special linearized perturbation in such way that the $T^{(1,1)}$ is not squashed then the corresponding perturbation preserve supersymmetry.
In this note, motivated by the Klebanov-Polyakov conjecture we investigate the strongly coupled O(N) vector model at large $N$ on a squashed three-sphere and its holographic relation to bulk gravity on asymptotically locally $AdS_4$ spaces. We present analytical results for the action of the field theory as the squashing parameter $α\to-1$, when the boundary becomes effectively one dimensional. The dual bulk geometry is AdS-Taub-NUT space in the corresponding limit. In this limit we solve the theory exactly and show that the action of the strongly coupled boundary theory scales as $\ln(1+α)/ (…
A class of two-dimensional sigma models interpolating between $CP^1$ and the $SU(2)$ principal chiral model is discussed. We add the Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten term and examine the renormalization group flow of the two coupling constants which characterize the model under consideration. The model flows to the $SU(2)$ WZNW conformal field theory in the IR. There is an ordinary phase in which the model flows from the asymptotically free $CP^1$ model coupled to an extra massless degree of freedom in the UV. At higher loop order we discover that there is also a phase in which the model can flow fr…
We provide a consistent N=4 Kaluza-Klein truncation of type IIB supergravity on general 5-dimensional squashed Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. Our reduction ansatz keeps all and only the supergravity modes dual to the universal gauge sector of the associated conformal theories, via the gauge/gravity correspondence. The reduced 5-dimensional model displays remarkable features: it includes both zero-modes as well as massive iterations of the Kaluza-Klein operators on the internal manifold; it contains tensor fields dual to vectors charged under a non-abelian gauge group; it has a scalar potential wit…
After a very brief recollection of how my scientific collaboration with Ugo started, in this talk I will present some recent results obtained with localization: the deformed gauge theory partition function $Z(\vecτ|q)$ and the expectation value of circular Wilson loops $W$ on a squashed four-sphere will be computed. The partition function is deformed by turning on $τ_J \,{\rm tr} \, Φ^J$ interactions with $Φ$ the ${\cal N}=2$ superfield. For the ${\cal N}=4$ theory SUSY gauge theory exact formulae for $Z$ and $W$ in terms of an underlying $U(N)$ interacting matrix model can be derived thus rep…
We discuss some aspects of higher-dimensional gravitational solitons and kinks, including in particular their stability. We illustrate our discussion with the examples of (non-BPS) higher-dimensional Taub-NUT solutions as the spatial metrics in (6+1) and (8+1) dimensions. We find them to be stable against small but non-infinitesimal disturbances, but unstable against large ones, which can lead to black-hole formation. In (8+1) dimensions we find a continuous non-BPS family of asymptotically-conical solitons connecting a previously-known kink metric with the supersymmetric A_8 solution which ha…
We study chiral deformations of ${\cal N}=2$ and ${\cal N}=4$ supersymmetric gauge theories obtained by turning on $τ_J \,{\rm tr} \, Φ^J$ interactions with $Φ$ the ${\cal N}=2$ superfield. Using localization, we compute the deformed gauge theory partition function $Z(\vecτ|q)$ and the expectation value of circular Wilson loops $W$ on a squashed four-sphere. In the case of the deformed ${\cal N}=4$ theory, exact formulas for $Z$ and $W$ are derived in terms of an underlying $U(N)$ interacting matrix model replacing the free Gaussian model describing the ${\cal N}=4$ theory. Using the AGT corre…
We introduce a deformation of the Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten model with three-dimensional squashed sphere target space. We show how with an appropriate choice of Wess--Zumino and boundary terms it is possible to construct an infinite family of conserved charges realizing an SU(2) Yangian. Finally we discuss the running of the squashing parameter under renormalization group flow.
We discuss a hidden symmetry of a two-dimensional sigma model on a squashed S^3. The SU(2) current can be improved so that it can be regarded as a flat connection. Then we can obtain an infinite number of conserved non-local charges and show the Yangian algebra by directly checking the Serre relation. This symmetry is also deduced from the coset structure of the squashed sphere. The same argument is applicable to the warped AdS_3 spaces via double Wick rotations.
In a recent article, we were motivated by the question of whether any of the remarkable condensed matter phenomena, such as the quantum Hall effect (QHE), the Integer quantum Hall effect (IQHE) etc., could potentially be observed in the extreme astrophysical environments of neutron stars. As a prequel to that work, and with the aim of understanding better the role of the geometry of the conducting surface on the structure of Landau levels, in this article we study the quantum dynamics of a quantum particle on a squashed sphere. More specifically, we study the dynamics of a single particle on a…
We consider mass-deformed theories with ${\cal N}\geq2$ supersymmetry on round and squashed three-spheres. By embedding the supersymmetric backgrounds in extended supergravity we show that at special values of mass deformations the supersymmetry is enhanced on the squashed spheres. When the $3d$ partition function can be obtained by a limit of a $4d$ index we also show that for these special mass deformations only the states annihilated by extra supercharges contribute to the index. By using an equivalence between partition functions on squashed spheres and ellipsoids, we explain the recently …
We present a new family of asymptotically locally AdS$_5$ squashed supersymmetric black hole solutions of Fayet-Iliopoulos gauged ${\cal N}=2$, $D=5$ supergravity with two vector multiplets that have a natural uplift to type IIB supergravity. Our new family of black holes is characterized by three parameters, of which two control the horizon geometry while the latter regulates the squashing at the boundary. We evaluate the main physical properties of the family of solutions using holographic renormalization and find that the entropy is independent on the squashing and it is reproduced by using…
We derive the isometry irrep content of squashed seven-sphere compactifications of eleven-dimensional supergravity, i.e., the left-squashed ($LS^7$) with ${\mathcal N}=1$ and right-squashed ($RS^7$) with ${\mathcal N}=0$ supersymmetry, in a manner completely independent of the round sphere. Then we compare this result with the spectrum obtained by Higgsing the round sphere spectrum. This way we discover features of the spectra which makes it possible to argue that the only way the round spectrum can be related by a Higgs mechanism to the one of $LS^7$ is if the singletons are included in the r…
We use direct Kaluza-Klein reduction to calculate the spectrum of spin-2 modes around a warped product of AdS_4 and a certain squashed and stretched 7-sphere. The modes turn out to be polynomials in the four complex variables parameterizing the sphere, and their complex conjugates. The background, which possesses U(1)_R x SU(3) symmetry, has been conjectured to be dual to a U(N) x U(N) N=2 superconformal Chern-Simons theory with a sextic superpotential. We find that the U(1)_R x SU(3) quantum numbers of spin-2 modes are in agreement with those determined in arXiv:0809.3773 through a group theo…
We argue that the conjectural relation between the subleading term in the small-squashing expansion of the free energy of general three-dimensional CFTs on squashed spheres and the stress-tensor three-point charge $t_4$ proposed in arXiv:1808.02052: $F_{\mathbb{S}^3_{\varepsilon}}^{(3)}(0)=\frac{1}{630}π^4 C_{\scriptscriptstyle T} t_4$, holds for an infinite family of holographic higher-curvature theories. Using holographic calculations for quartic and quintic Generalized Quasi-topological gravities and general-order Quasi-topological gravities, we identify an analogous analytic relation betwe…
Various aspects of non-linear sigma models with an $SU(N)\times U(1)$ symmetric target space are considered. In the case $N=2$, three-dimensional topological defects are discussed which are relevant for frustrated magnetic systems and which may offer a new perspective on the Skyrme model. An apparent discrepancy between the large $N$ expansion and the weak coupling expansion noted earlier in the literature is reviewed and clarified. A systematic approach to the operator product expansion at sub-leading order in large $N$ is developed and the spinon two-point function is expanded as a trans-ser…
We present several results concerning the free energy of odd-dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs) on squashed spheres. First, we propose a formula which computes this quantity for holographic CFTs dual to higher-curvature gravities with second-order linearized equations of motion. As opposed to standard on-shell action methods for Taub geometries, our formula is automatically UV-finite and only involves a simple evaluation of the corresponding bulk Lagrangian on an auxiliary pure-AdS space. The expression is closely related to the function determining the possible AdS vacua of the bulk …
We study the partition function of odd-dimensional conformal field theories placed on spheres with a squashed metric. We establish that the round sphere provides a local extremum for the free energy which, in general, is not a global extremum. In addition, we show that the leading quadratic correction to the free energy around this extremum is proportional to the coefficient, $C_T$, determining the two-point function of the energy-momentum tensor in the CFT. For three-dimensional CFTs, we compute explicitly this proportionality constant for a class of squashing deformations which preserve an $…
The indirect evidence for at least a dozen massive white dwarfs violating the Chandrasekhar mass-limit is considered to be one of the wonderful discoveries in astronomy for more than a decade. Researchers have already proposed a diverse amount of models to explain this astounding phenomenon. However, each of these models always carries some drawbacks. On the other hand, noncommutative geometry is one of the best replicas of quantum gravity, which is yet to be proved from observations. Madore introduced the idea of a fuzzy sphere to describe a formalism of noncommutative geometry. This article …
We evaluate the partition function of the free O(N) model on a two-parameter family of squashed three spheres. We also find new solutions of general relativity with negative cosmological constant and the same double squashed boundary geometry and analyse their thermodynamic properties. Remarkably, both systems exhibit a qualitatively similar behaviour over the entire configuration space of boundary geometries. Recent formulations of dS/CFT enable one to interpret the field theory partition function as a function of the two squashing parameters as the Hartle-Hawking wave function in a minisuper…
The landscape of possible four-dimensional low-energy effective theories arising from compactifications of string/M-theory seems vast. This might lead one to believe that any consistent-looking effective field theory coupled to gravity can be obtained as a low-energy limit of string theory. However, a set of "swampland" conjectures suggests that this is not true and that, in fact, there is an even larger set of effective field theories that cannot be obtained in this way. In particular, the AdS instability swampland conjecture asserts that nonsupersymmetric anti-de Sitter vacua are unstable. T…
We discuss the dimensional reduction of fermionic modes in a recently found class of consistent truncations of D=11 supergravity compactified on squashed seven-dimensional Sasaki-Einstein manifolds. Such reductions are of interest, for example, in that they have $(2+1)$-dimensional holographic duals, and the fermionic content and their interactions with charged scalars are an important aspect of their applications. We derive the lower-dimensional equations of motion for the fermions and exhibit their couplings to the various bosonic modes present in the truncations under consideration, which m…
This letter deals with triply-periodic (crystalline) solutions in a family of Skyrme systems, namely where the field takes values in the squashed 3-sphere. The family includes the standard Skyrme model (round 3-sphere), and the Skyrme-Faddeev case (maximal squashing). In the round case, the lowest-energy crystal is the well-known cubic lattice of half-skyrmions; but in the squashed case the minimal-energy crystal structures turn out to be different. We describe some of the solutions that arise, including arrays of vortices and multi-sheeted structures.
We determine the most general form of off-shell N=(1,1) supergravity field configurations in three dimensions by requiring that at least one off-shell Killing spinor exists. We then impose the field equations of the topologically massive off-shell supergravity and find a class of solutions whose properties crucially depend on the norm of the auxiliary vector field. These are spacelike-squashed and timelike-stretched AdS_3 for the spacelike and timelike norms, respectively. At the transition point where the norm vanishes, the solution is null warped AdS_3. This occurs when the coefficient of th…
We show that, in some limit, gravitational instantons correspond to exotic smooth geometry on R^4. The geometry of this exotic R^4 represents magnetic monopoles of Polyakov-'t Hooft type and the BPS condition allows for the generation of the charges from the gravitational sources of exotic R^4. Higgs field is, as usual, present in the monopole configurations. We indicate some possible scenarios in cosmology, particle physics and condensed matter where pure SU(2) Yang-Mills theory on the exotic R^4 aquires non-zero mass for its gauge boson when the smoothness is changed to the standard R^4 and,…
Supersymmetric zero-brane and one-brane probes in the squashed $AdS_2\times S^3$ near-horizon geometry of the BMPV black hole are studied. Supersymmetric zero-brane probes stabilized by orbital angular momentum on the $S^3$ are found and shown to saturate a BPS bound. We also find supersymmetric one-brane probes which have momentum and winding around a $U(1)_L\times U(1)_R$ torus in the $S^3$ and in some cases are static.
We study quiver gauge theories on the round and squashed seven-spheres, and orbifolds thereof. They arise by imposing $G$-equivariance on the homogeneous space $G/H=\mathrm{SU}(4)/\mathrm{SU}(3)$ endowed with its Sasaki-Einstein structure, and $G/H=\mathrm{Sp}(2)/\mathrm{Sp}(1)$ as a 3-Sasakian manifold. In both cases we describe the equivariance conditions and the resulting quivers. We further study the moduli spaces of instantons on the metric cones over these spaces by using the known description for Hermitian Yang-Mills instantons on Calabi-Yau cones. It is shown that the moduli space of i…
We describe the defect operator interpretation of the supersymmetric Renyi entropies of superconformal field theories in three, four and five dimensions. The operators involved are supersymmetric codimension-two defects in an auxiliary Z_n gauge theory coupled to n copies of the SCFT. We compute the exact expectation values of such operators using localization, and compare the results to the supersymmetric Renyi entropy. The agreement between the two implies a relationship between the partition function on a squashed sphere and the one on a round sphere in the presence of defects.
In this paper we construct the subset of modes on $S^7$ that are relevant in the compactification of eleven-dimensional supergravity on a squashed $S^7$ when restricted to the sector that comprises singlets under the $Sp(1)\times Sp(2)$ isometry of the squashed sphere. Some of the properties of these modes, connected to the transition from the round $S^7$ to the squashed $S^7$, are analysed in detail. Special features of the Rarita-Schwinger operator, described in earlier work by Buchdahl, are explained and related to properties of the squashed $S^7$ operator spectrum obtained in previous work…
3d N=2 partition functions on the squashed three-sphere and on the twisted product S2xS1 have been shown to factorize into sums of squares of solid tori partition functions, the so-called holomorphic blocks. The same set of holomorphic blocks realizes squashed three-sphere and S2xS1 partition functions but the two cases involve different inner products, the S-pairing and the id-pairing respectively. We define a class of q-deformed CFT correlators where conformal blocks are controlled by a deformation of Virasoro symmetry and are paired by S-pairing and id-pairing respectively. Applying the boo…
We show that a given conformal boundary can have a rich and intricate space of supersymmetric supergravity solutions filling it, focusing on the case where this conformal boundary is a biaxially squashed Lens space. Generically we find that the biaxially squashed Lens space S^3/Z_p admits Taub-NUT-AdS fillings, with topology R^4/Z_p, as well as smooth Taub-Bolt-AdS fillings with non-trivial topology. We show that the Taub-NUT-AdS solutions always lift to solutions of M-theory, and correspondingly that the gravitational free energy then agrees with the large N limit of the dual field theory fre…
