For an integer $k\geq 2$, let $(L_{n}^{(k)})_{n}$ be the $k-$generalized Lucas sequence which starts with $0,\ldots,0,2,1$ ($k$ terms) and each term afterwards is the sum of the $k$ preceding terms. In this paper, we find all the integers that appear in different generalized Lucas sequences; i.e., we study the Diophantine equation $L_n^{(k)}=L_m^{(\ell)}$ in nonnegative integers $n,k,m,\ell$ with $k, \ell\geq 2$. The proof of our main theorem uses lower bounds for linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and a version of the Baker-Davenport reduction method. This paper is a continuation of the earlier work [4].
In this paper, we introduce a generalization of Balancing and Balancing-Lucas numbers. We describe some of their properties also we give the related matrix representation and divisibility properties.
Let $ k \geq 2 $ and $ ( L_{n}^{(k)} )_{n \geq 2-k} $ be the $k-$generalized Lucas sequence with initial condition $ L_{2-k}^{(k)} = \cdots = L_{-1}^{(k)}=0 ,$ $ L_{0}^{(k,}=2,$ $ L_{1}^{(k)}=1$ and each term afterwards is the sum of the $ k $ preceding terms. A positive integer is an almost repdigit if its digits are all equal except for at most one digit. In this paper, we work on the problem of determining all terms of $k-$generalized Lucas sequences which are almost repdigits. In particular, we find all $k-$generalized Lucas numbers which are powers of $10$ as a special case of almost repd…
We consider the Markoff-Rosenberger equation $$ax^2+by^2+cz^2=dxyz$$ with $(x,y,z)=(U_i,U_j,U_k),$ where $U_i$ denotes the $i$-th generalized Lucas number of first/second kind. We provide upper bound for the minimum of the indices and we apply the result to completely resolve concrete equations, e.g. we determine solutions containing only balancing numbers and Jacobsthal numbers, respectively.
For any integer $k \geq 2$, let $\{Q_{n}^{(k)} \}_{n \geq -(k-2)}$ denote the $k$-generalized Pell-Lucas sequence which starts with $0, \dots ,2,2$($k$ terms) where each next term is the sum of the $k$ preceding terms. In this paper, we find all the $k$-generalized Pell-Lucas numbers that are concatenations of two repdigits.
A second order polynomial sequence is of Fibonacci-type $\mathcal{F}_{n}$ (Lucas-type $\mathcal{L}_{n}$) if its Binet formula has a structure similar to that for Fibonacci (Lucas) numbers. Under certain conditions these polynomials are irreducible if and only if $n$ is a prime number. For example, the Fibonacci polynomials, Pell polynomials, Fermat polynomials, Lucas polynomials, Pell-Lucas polynomials, Fermat-Lucas polynomials are irreducible when $n$ is a prime number; and Chebyshev polynomials (second kind), Morgan-Voyce polynomials (Fibonacci type), and Vieta polynomials are reducible when…
For any integer $k \geq 2$, let $\{Q_{n}^{(k)} \}_{n \geq -(k-2)}$ denote the $k$-generalized Pell-Lucas sequence which starts with $0, \dots ,2,2$($k$ terms) where each next term is the sum of the $k$ preceding terms. In this paper, we find all the $k$-generalized Pell-Lucas numbers that are the product of two repdigits. This generalizes a result of Erduvan and Keskin \cite{Erduvan1} regarding repdigits of Pell-Lucas numbers.
In this note, we obtain some identities for the generalized Fibonacci polynomial by using the Q(x) matrix. These identities including the Cassini identity and Honsberger formula can be applied to some polynomial sequences, such as Fibonacci polynomials, Lucas polynomials, Pell polynomials, Pell-Lucas polynomials, Fermat polynomials, Fermat-Lucas polynomials, and so on.
We give a simplified presentation of some results about recurrences of certain sequences of binomial sums in terms of (generalized) Fibonacci and Lucas polynomials.
We observe that a sequence satisfies Lucas congruences modulo $p$ if and only if its values modulo $p$ can be described by a linear $p$-scheme, as introduced by Rowland and Zeilberger, with a single state. This simple observation suggests natural generalizations of the notion of Lucas congruences. To illustrate this point, we prove explicit generalized Lucas congruences for integer sequences that can be represented as the constant terms of $P(x,y)^n Q(x,y)$ where $P$ and $Q$ are certain Laurent polynomials.
Let k>=2 and let (Q_{n}^{(k)})_{n>=2-k} be the k-generalized Pell sequence defined by Q_{n}^{(k)}=2Q_{n-1}^{(k)}+Q_{n-2}^{(k)}+...+Q_{n-k}^{(k)} for n>=2 with initial conditions Q_{-(k-2)}^{(k)}=Q_{-(k-3)}^{(k)}=...=Q_{-1}^{(k)}=0, Q_{0}^{(k)}=2,Q_{1}^{(k)}=2. In this paper, we solve the Diophantine equation Q_{n}^{(k)}=y^{m} in positive integers n,m,y,k with m,y,k>=2. We show that all solutions (n,m,y) of this equation in positive integers n,m,y,k such that 2<=y<=100 are given by (n,m,y)=(3,2,4),(3,4,2) for k>=3. Namely, Q_{3}^{(k)}=16=2^4=4^2 for k>=3.
We explore the sums of $k$ consecutive terms in the generalized Fibonacci sequence $\left(G_n\right)_{n \geq 0}$ given by the recurrence $G_n = G_{n-1} + G_{n-2}$ for all $n \geq 2$ with integral initial conditions $G_0$ and $G_1$. In particular, we give precise values for the greatest common divisor (GCD) of all sums of $k$ consecutive terms of $\left(G_n\right)_{n \geq 0}$. When $G_0 = 0$ and $G_1 = 1$, we yield the GCD of all sums of $k$ consecutive Fibonacci numbers, and when $G_0 = 2$ and $G_1 = 1$, we yield the GCD of all sums of $k$ consecutive Lucas numbers. Denoting the GCD of all sum…

Let $\mathbf{u} = (u_n)_{n \geq 0}$ be a Lucas sequence, that is, a sequence of integers satisfying $u_0 = 0$, $u_1 = 1$, and $u_n = a_1 u_{n - 1} + a_2 u_{n - 2}$ for every integer $n \geq 2$, where $a_1$ and $a_2$ are fixed nonzero integers. For each prime number $p$ with $p \nmid 2a_2D_{\mathbf{u}}$, where $D_{\mathbf{u}} := a_1^2 + 4a_2$, let $ρ_{\mathbf{u}}(p)$ be the rank of appearance of $p$ in $\mathbf{u}$, that is, the smallest positive integer $k$ such that $p \mid u_k$. It is well known that $ρ_{\mathbf{u}}(p)$ exists and that $p \equiv \big(D_{\mathbf{u}} \mid p \big) \pmod {ρ_{\ma…
In this paper we study a certain kind of generalized linear Diophantine problem of Frobenius. Let $a_1,a_2,\dots,a_l$ be positive integers such that their greatest common divisor is one. For a nonnegative integer $p$, denote the $p$-Frobenius number by $g_p(a_1,a_2,\dots,a_l)$, which is the largest integer that can be represented at most $p$ ways by a linear combination with nonnegative integer coefficients of $a_1,a_2,\dots,a_l$. When $p=0$, $0$-Frobenius number is the classical Frobenius number. When $l=2$, $p$-Frobenius number is explicitly given. However, when $l=3$ and even larger, even i…
