It is developed the theory of the Dirichlet problem for harmonic functions. On this basis, for the nondegenerate Beltrami equations in the quasidisks and, in particular, in the smooth domains, it is proved the existence of regular solutions of the Riemann-Hilbert problem with coefficients of bounded variation and boundary data that are measurable with respect to the absolute harmonic measure (logarithmic capacity). Moreover, it is shown that the dimension of the spaces of the given solutions is infinite.
One more section was added for the case of coefficients of countably bounded variation.
It is studied the Hilbert boundary value problem for the nondegenerate Beltrami equations in domains $D$ of the complex plane $\mathbb C$ with the so--called quasihyperbolic boundary condition. It is proved the existence of solutions of this problem with coefficients of countably bounded variation and with arbitrary boundary data that are measurable with respect to logarithmic capacity. It is shown that the dimension of the spaces of such solutions is infinite. It is also given applications to the Dirichlet, Neumann and Poincare boundary value problems for analogs of the Laplace equation in an…
Recall that the Hilbert (Riemann-Hilbert) boundary value problem for the Beltrami equations was recently solved for general settings in terms of nontangential limits and principal asymptotic values. Here it is developed a new approach making possible to obtain new results on tangential limits in multiply connected domains. It is shown that the spaces of the found solutions have the infinite dimension for prescribed families of Jordan arcs terminating in almost every boundary point. We give also applications of results obtained by us for the Beltrami equations to the boundary value problems of …
We give a proof of a phenomenon conjectured in our former article: "Beltrami forms, affine surfaces and the Schwarz-Christoffel formula: a worked out example of straightening". We also start an abstract discussion of the notion of limits of Riemann surfaces.
The present paper is devoted to the study of semi-linear Beltrami equations which are closely relevant to the corresponding semi-linear Poisson type equations of mathematical physics on the plane in anisotropic and inhomogeneous media. In its first part, applying completely continuous ope\-ra\-tors by Ahlfors-Bers and Leray--Schauder approach, we prove existence of regular solutions of the semi-linear Beltrami equations with no boundary conditions. Moreover, here we derive their representation through solutions of the Vekua type equations and generalized analytic functions with sources. As con…
In this paper the Wiener--Hopf factorisation problem is presented in a unified framework with the Riemann--Hilbert factorisation. This allows to establish the exact relationship between the two types of factorisation. In particular, in the Wiener--Hopf problem one assumes more regularity than for the Riemann--Hilbert problem. It is shown that Wiener--Hopf factorisation can be obtained using Riemann--Hilbert factorisation on certain lines.
Let S be a bordered Riemann surface with genus g and m boundary components. For a smooth family of smooth Jordan curves in the complex plane parametrized by the boundary of S and such that all curves contain 0 in their interior we show that there exists a holomorphic solution of the corresponding Riemann-Hilbert problem with at most 2g+m-1 zeros on S.
The primary purpose of the paper is to study how a Riemann mapping depends on the corresponding Jordan curve. We are mainly concerned with those Jordan curves in the Weil-Petersson class, namely, the corresponding Riemann mappings can be quasiconformally extended to the whole plane with Beltrami coefficients being square integrable under the Poincaré metric. We endow the space of all normalized Weil-Petersson curves with a new real Hilbert manifold structure and show that it is topologically equivalent to the standard complex Hilbert manifold structure.
This paper is devoted to Riemann-Hilbert problems with constraints. We obtain results characterizing the existence of solutions as well as the dimension of the solution space in terms of certain indices. As an application, we show how such results may be used to construct analytic discs attached to singular manifolds.
Recall that the Hilbert (Riemann-Hilbert) boundary value problem was recently solved in \cite{R1} for arbitrary measurable coefficients and for arbitrary measurable boundary data in terms of nontangential limits and principal asymptotic values. Here it is developed a new approach making possible to obtain new results on tangential limits. It is shown that the spaces of the found solutions have the infinite dimension for prescribed collections of Jordan arcs terminating in almost every boundary point. Similar results are proved for the Riemann problem.
We generalize the Ahlfors-Bers theory to the adelic Riemann sphere. In particular, after defining the appropriate notion of a Beltrami differential in the solenoidal context, we give a sufficient condition on it such that the corresponding Beltrami equation has a quasiconformal homeomorphism solution; i.e. The Ahlfors-Bers Theorem in the solenoidal case. This additional condition on the solenoidal Beltrami differentials can be written as a Banach norm in a subspace of solenoidal differentials. Moreover, this subspace is the completion under this norm of those solenoidal differentials locally c…
Using Hörmander $L^2$ method for Cauchy-Riemann equations from complex analysis, we study a simple differential operator $\bar{\partial}^k+a$ of any order (densely defined and closed) in weighted Hilbert space $L^2(\mathbb{C},e^{-|z|^2})$ and prove the existence of a right inverse that is bounded.
A Fredholm integral equation of the second kind with the generalized Neumann kernel associated with the Riemann-Hilbert problem on unbounded multiply connected regions will be derived and studied in this paper. The derived integral equation yields a uniquely solvable boundary integral equations for the modified Dirichlet problem on unbounded multiply connected regions.
Let $Σ$ be a Riemann surface of genus $g$ bordered by $n$ curves homeomorphic to the circle $\mathbb{S}^1$, and assume that $2g+2-n>0$. For such bordered Riemann surfaces, the authors have previously defined a Teichmüller space which is a Hilbert manifold and which is holomorphically included in the standard Teichmüller space. Based on this, we present alternate models of the aforementioned Teichmüller space and show in particular that it is locally modelled on a Hilbert space of $L^2$ Beltrami differentials, which are holomorphic up to a power of the hyperbolic metric, and has a convergent We…
It is proved the existence of single-valued analytic solutions in the unit disk and multivalent analytic solutions in domains bounded by a finite collection of circles for the Riemann-Hilbert problem with coefficients of sigma-finite variation and with boundary data that are measurable with respect to logarithmic capacity. It is shown that these spaces of solutions have the infinite dimension.
We give here results on the existence of nonclassical solutions of the Hilbert boundary value problem in terms of the so-called angular limits (along nontangent curves to the boundary) for Beltrami equations with sources in Jordan domains satisfying the quasihyperbolic boundary condition by Gehring-Martio, generally speaking, without $(A)-$condition by Ladyzhenskaya-Ural'tseva and, in particular, without the known outer cone condition that were standard for boundary value problems in the PDE theory. Assuming that the coefficients of the problem are functions of countable bounded variation and …
We discuss some topological aspects of the Riemann-Hilbert transmission problem and Riemann-Hilbert monodromy problem on Riemann surfaces. In particular, we describe the construction of a holomorphic vector bundle starting from the given representation of the fundamental group and investigate the local behaviour of connexions on this bundle. We give formulae for the partial indices of the Riemann-Hilbert transmission problem in the three-dimensional case in terms of the correspoding vector bundle on the Riemann sphere.
In this paper we study an analogue of the classical Riemann-Hilbert problem stated for the classes of difference and $q$-difference systems. The Birkhoff's existence theorem was generalized in this paper.
In the paper we give an upper estimate of the number of apparent singularities that are sufficient for construction of a system of linear differential equations on a Riemann surface with given fuchsian singularities and monodromy.
This is a survey paper on the Riemann-Hilbert correspondence on (irregular) holonomic D-modules, based on the 16-th Takagi lecture (2015/11/28). In this paper, we use subanalytic sheaves, an analogous notion to the one of indsheaves.
We develop a theory of $n \times n$-matrix Riemann-Hilbert problems for a class of jump contours and jump matrices of low regularity. Our basic assumption is that the contour $Γ$ is a finite union of simple closed Carleson curves in the Riemann sphere. In particular, contours with cusps, corners, and nontransversal intersections are allowed. We introduce a notion of $L^p$-Riemann-Hilbert problem and establish basic uniqueness results and a vanishing lemma. We also investigate the implications of Fredholmness for the unique solvability and prove a theorem on contour deformation.
We give some additions to the article "On the generalized Riemann-Hilbert problem with irregular singularities" by Bolibruch, Malek, Mitschi (math/0410483). In particular, a weak GRH-problem and the GRH-problem for scalar differential equations are discussed.
In this work, some theorems are established for orthogonal trigonometric polynomials (OTP) including Favard, Baxter, Geronimus, Rakhmanov, Szegö and the strong Szegö theorems which are important in the theory of orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle (OPUC). All these results are based on the mutual representation theorem of OPUC and OTP which deduced by a Riemann-Hilbert problem simultaneously characterizing them. In addition, Szegö recursions, four-term recurrences and some new identities for OPUC and OTP are also obtained by using their Riemann-Hilbert characterizations respectively.
We find a local $(d+1) \times (d+1)$ Riemann-Hilbert problem characterizing the skew-orthogonal polynomials associated to the partition function of the Gaussian Orthogonal Ensemble of random matrices with a potential function of degree $d$. Our Riemann-Hilbert problem is similar to a local $d \times d$ Riemann-Hilbert problem found by Kuijlaars and McLaughlin characterizing the bi-orthogonal polynomials. This gives more motivation for finding methods to compute asymptotics of high order Riemann-Hilbert problems, and brings us closer to finding asymptotics of the skew-orthogonal polynomials.
We characterize the biorthogonal polynomials that appear in the theory of coupled random matrices via a Riemann-Hilbert problem. Our Riemann-Hilbert problem is different from the ones that were proposed recently by Ercolani and McLaughlin, Kapaev, and Bertola et al. We believe that our formulation may be tractable to asymptotic analysis.
A novel approach to Riemann--Hilbert problems of particular class is introduced. The approach is applicable to problems in which the multiplicative jump is set on a half-line. Such problems are linked to some Wiener--Hopf problems motivated by diffraction theory. The new approach is based on ordinary differential equations: the Riemann--Hilbert problem is reduced to finding a coefficient of an ordinary differential equation and solving this equation. The new method leads to an efficient numerical algorithm and opens a road to new asymptotical and analytical advances.
We consider matrix functions with certain invariance under inversion in the unit circle. If such a function satisfies a positivity assumption on the unit circle, then only zero partial indices appear in its Riemann-Hilbert (Wiener-Hopf) factorization. It implies the unique solvability of a certain class of Riemann-Hilbert boundary value problems. It includes the ones associated with the inverse scattering transform of the focusing/defocusing integrable discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations.
In this paper, we study the theory of orthogonal trigonometric polynomials (OTP). We obtain asymptotics of OTP with positive and analytic weight functions by Riemann-Hilbert approach and find they have relations with orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle (OPUC). By the relations and the theory of OPUC, we also get four-terms recurrent formulae, Christoffel-Darboux formula and some properties of zeros for orthogonal trigonometric polynomials.
A new concept of meromorphic $Σ$-factorization, for Hölder continuous functions defined on a contour $Γ$ that is the pullback of $\dot{\mathbb{R}}$ (or the unit circle) in a Riemann surface $Σ$ of genus 1, is introduced and studied, and its relations with holomorphic $Σ$-factorization are discussed. It is applied to study and solve some scalar Riemann-Hilbert problems in $Σ$ and vectorial Riemann-Hilbert problems in $\mathbb{C}$, including Wiener-Hopf matrix factorization, as well as to study some properties of a class of Toeplitz operators with $2 \times 2$ matrix symbols.
We formulate and prove a Riemann-Hilbert correspondence between $\hbar$-differential equations and sheaf quantizations, which can be considered as a correspondence between two kinds of quantizations (deformation and sheaf quantization) of holomorphic cotangent bundles. The latter category is expected to be equivalent to a version of Fukaya category, which is a "quantization" of Lagrangian intersection theory. The ideas of the constructions are based on asymptotic/WKB analysis, which is related to geometric quantization.
