The Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule is useful to study the area spectrum of black holes by employing adiabatic invariants. This method is extended to charged dilaton black holes in 2+1 dimensions. We put the background space-time into the Kruskal-like coordinate to find the period with respect to Euclidian time. Also assuming that the adiabatic invariant obeys Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule, detailed study of area and entropy spectrum has been done. It is dependent on the charge and is equally spaced as well.
We also investigate the thermodynamics of the charged dilaton black hole.
We examine motion of test particles with various masses, electric charges and dilatonic charges in a background metric and fields of a charged dilatonic black hole.
A charged dilaton black hole which possesses infinitesimal angular momentum is studied. We find that the gyromagnetic ratio of the dilaton black hole depends not only on the parameter which appears in the interaction between the dilaton and the electric field but also nonlinearly on the ratio of the charge to the mass of the black hole. The moment of inertia for the charged dilaton hole in the limit of infinitesimal angular momentum is also calculated.
We study charged fermionic perturbations in the background of two-dimensional charged Dilatonic black holes, and we present the exact Dirac quasinormal modes. Also, we study the stability of these black holes under charged fermionic perturbations.
We sketch the results of calculations of the quasinormal frequencies of the electrically charged dilaton black hole. At the earlier phase of evaporation (Q is less than 0.7-0.8M), the dilaton black hole "rings" with the complex frequencies which differ negligibly from those of the Reissner-Nordstrom black hole. The spectrum of the frequencies weakly depends upon the dilaton coupling.
We examine charged static perfect fluid distributions with a dilaton field in the frame-work of general relativity. We consider the case that the Einstein equations reduce to a non-linear version of Poisson equation. We show that Maxwell equation and an equation for a dilaton imply the relation among the charge, mass and dilatonic charge densities.
The multidimensional charged dilatonic black hole solution with $n$ internal Ricci-flat spaces is considered. The bound on the mass of the black hole is obtained. In the strong dilatonic coupling limit the critical mass becomes zero. The case $n = \infty$ is also considered.
The classical and the quantum scattering of two maximally-charged dilaton black holes which have low velocities are studied. We find a critical value for the dilaton coupling, $a^2=1/3$. For $a^2>1/3$, two black holes are always scattered away and never coalesce together, regardless of the value of the impact parameter.
In this paper we calculate the energy distribution of some charged black holes in generalized dilaton-axion gravity. The solutions correspond to charged black holes arising in a Kalb-Ramond-dilaton background and some existing non-rotating black hole solutions are recovered in special cases. We focus our study to asymptotically flat and asymptotically non-flat types of solutions and resort for this purpose to the Møller prescription. Various aspects of energy are also analyzed.
We present a new class of black hole solutions in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity in $n \ge 4$ dimensions. These solutions have regular horizons and a singularity only at the origin. Their asymptotic behavior is neither asymptotically flat nor (anti-) de Sitter. Similar solutions exist for certain Liouville-type potentials for the dilaton.
The behaviour of massive and massless test particles around asymptotically flat and spherically symmetric, charged black holes in the context of generalized dilaton-axion gravity in four dimensions is studied. All the possible motions are investigated by calculating and plotting the corresponding effective potential for the massless and massive particles as well. Further, the motion of massive (charged or uncharged) test particles in the gravitational field of charged black holes in generalized dilaton-axion gravity for the cases of static and non-static equilibrium is investigated by applying…
The study of shadow is quite prominent nowadays because of the ongoing Event Horizon Telescope\footnote{https://eventhorizontelescope.org/} observations. We construct the shadow images of charged wormholes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMD) theory. The spacetime metric of the charged wormholes contains three charges: magnetic charge $P$, electric charge $Q$, and dilaton charge $Σ$. We evaluate the photon geodesics around the charged wormholes. We also calculate the effective potential and discuss its behavior with angular momentum $L$ and different values of charges $P$, $Q$, and $Σ$. A study o…
We study the phase space of the spherically symmetric solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-Gauss-Bonnet system nonminimally coupled to a scalar field and prove the existence of solutions with unusual asymptotics in addition to asymptotically flat ones. We also find new dyonic solutions of dilatonic Einstein-Maxwell theory.
In this paper we have studied particle collisions around a charged dilaton black hole in 2+1 dimensions. This black hole is a solution to the low energy string action in 2+1 dimensions. Time-like geodesics for charged particles are studied in detail. The center of mass energy for two charged particles colliding closer to the horizon is calculated and shown to be infinite if one of the particles has the critical charge.
This paper deals with the semiclassical radiation spectrum of static and circularly symmetric 3D charged dilaton black holes with cosmological constant Λ in non-asymptotically flat spacetimes. We first review the 3D charged dilaton black holes which are solution to low-energy string action. The wave equation of a massless scalar field is shown to be exactly solvable in terms of hypergeometric functions. Thus, the radiation spectrum and its corresponding temperature are obtained, precisely. Computations at high frequency regime show that the radiation spectrum yields the Hawking temperature of …
In this article charged black rings and black saturns are constructed in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory in five dimensions. The neutral black ring and black saturn solutions are embedded in six dimensions and boosted with respect to the time coordinate and the added sixth dimension. Then the charged solutions are obtained by a Kaluza-Klein reduction. The influence of the charge is studied by analysing the physical properties and the phase diagram. The different dilatonic solutions are compared and their thermodynamic stability is considered.
Employing higher order perturbation theory, we find a new class of charged rotating black hole solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with general dilaton coupling constant. Starting from the Myers-Perry solutions, we use the electric charge as the perturbative parameter, and focus on extremal black holes with equal-magnitude angular momenta in odd dimensions. We perform the perturbations up to 4th order for black holes in 5 dimensions and up to 3rd order in higher odd dimensions. We calculate the physical properties of these black holes and study their dependence on the charge and the d…
Employing energy-momentum pseudotensor of Einstein, we obtian the energy distribution of a dyonic dilaton black hole. The energy distribution of this black hole depends on mass $ M $, electric charge $ Q_{e} $, magnetic charge $ Q_{m} $ and asymptotic values of the dilaton $ ϕ_{0} $. We also mmake some comparisons between the results of Virbhadra et. al. and ours.
The system consisting of slowly-moving, maximally charged, nonrotating dilaton black holes is investigated. We obtain the metric on the moduli space of the system in the low-velocity limit. We find that: (1) only two-body interactions exist between the extreme black holes in string theory; (2) the mutual interaction between the black holes vanishes if the dilaton can be interpreted as a Kaluza-Klein scalar; and (3) for general dilaton couplings, there exist many-body interactions among the extreme black holes. We analyze the low-energy classical scattering of the two extreme black holes in str…
Using Møller's energy complex, we obtain the energy distributions of GHS solution and dyonic dilaton black hole solution in the dilaton gravity theory. It is confirmed that the Møller's energy complex is indeed a 3-scalar under purely spatial transformation in these energy distributions. Some interested properties of the energy distribution of dyonic black hole are disscussed.
For the $n-1$ dimensional FRW domain wall universe induced by $n$ dimensional charged dilaton black hole, its movement formula in the bulk can be rewrite as the expansion or collapsing of domain wall. By analysing, we found that in this static AdS space, the cosmologic behaviour of domain wall is particularly single. Even more surprising, it exists an anomaly that the domain wall has a motion area outside of horizon, in which it cannot be explained by our classical theory.
We clarify the purely imaginary quasinormal frequencies of a massless scalar perturbation on the 3D charged-dilaton black holes. This case is quite interesting because the potential-step appears outside the event horizon similar to the case of the electromagnetic perturbations on the large Schwarzschild-AdS black holes. It turns out that the potential-step type provides the purely imaginary quasinormal frequencies, while the potential-barrier type gives the complex quasinormal modes.
We have studied thermal chaotic behavior in the extended phase space for a charged dilaton-AdS black hole by Melnikov method and present the effect of dilaton parameter on the thermal chaos. Our result show that for the temporal perturbation the thermal chaos in the charged dilaton-AdS black hole occurs only if the perturbation amplitude is larger than certain a critical value, but for the spatially perturbation, the chaos always exists irrespective of perturbation amplitude. These behaviors are similar to those in other AdS black hole, which can be regarded as the common features of the stati…
By using Hawking's treatment as well as Zaslavskii's treatment respectively and the brick wall model, two different values of classical entropy and quantum entropy of scalar fields in the two-dimensional extreme charged dilaton black hole backgrounds have been obtained. A new divergent term emerges in the quantum entropy under the extreme limit for Zaslavskii's treatment and its connection with the phase transition has been addressed.
This paper discusses a new type of thin-shell wormhole constructed by applying the cut-and-paste technique to two copies of a charged black hole in generalized dilaton-axion gravity, which was inspired by low-energy string theory. After analyzing various aspects of this thin-shell wormhole, we discuss its stability to linearized spherically symmetric perturbations.
A solution to an Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton-type theory with $M$ Liouville potentials and $N$ gauge fields is presented, where $M$ and $N$ are arbitrary integers. This exact solution interpolates between the Lifshitz black hole and the topological dilaton black hole. The thermodynamic behaviour of the solution is found to be similar to that of the Lifshitz black hole, where a phase transition may occur for sufficiently small charge in the canonical ensemble, or sufficiently small potential in the grand canonical ensemble.
A family of static multicentered solutions to modified Einstein-Maxwell equations coupled with a dilaton is constructed in $(1+N)$ dimensional space-time ($N\ge 2$). For $N\ge 3$, the solutions are generalizations of the Majumdar-Papapetrou solution. We also find the solution in $(1+2)$ dimensions, where the scalar and vector forces cancel each other in the static case. The interaction between two extreme charged dilaton black holes in the low-energy limit is investigated in $(1+N)$ dimensions ($N\ge 3$). We find that there remains the residual velocity-dependent force in general cases, except…
The stress-energy tensor of a quantized scalar field is computed in the reduced two-dimensional charged dilatonic black hole spacetime of Garfinkle, Horowitz, and Strominger. In order for the stress-energy of quantized fields to be regular on the event horizon in both the extreme string metric and the conformally associated physical metric, it is necessary to assign a nonzero temperature, T = (8 pi e^{phi_0} M)^{-1}, to the extreme string metric, contrary to the expectation that this horizonless spacetime would have a natural temperature of zero.
Employing the approximate effective action constructed from the coincidence limit of the Hadamard-Minakshisundaram-DeWitt (HaMiDeW) coefficient a_{3}, the renormalized stress-energy tensor of the quantized massive scalar field in the spacetime of a static and electrically charged dilatonic black hole is calculated. Special attention is paid to the minimally and conformally coupled fields propagating in geometries with a=1, and to the power expansion of the general stress-energy tensor for small values of charge. A compact expression for the trace of the stress-energy tensor is presented.
In this post, a new variable y($μ=yω$) is added to extend the results of the above post. We derive a very compact resonance formulation. When y is a certain limit, the effective potential of the equation exists at the pole, and the potential well appears outside the event horizon, when ${e}^{-4αΦ/(n-1)}\sqrtα Q \ll r_{+}\ll 1 / (\frac{4}{n-1}y) $, so charged dilator black hole is superradiatively unstable at this time.
We examine static charged perfect fluid configurations in the presence of a dilaton field. A method for construction of interior solutions is given. An explicit example of an interior solution which matches continuously the external Gibbons-Maeda-Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger solution is presented. Extremely charged perfect fluid configurations with a dilaton are also examined. We show that there are two types of extreme configurations. For each type the field equations are reduced to a single nonlinear equation on a space of a constant curvature. In the particular case of a perfect fluid with…
A one parameter family of static charged black hole solutions in $(2+1)$-dimensional general relativity minimally coupled to a dilaton $ϕ\propto ln({r\overβ})$ with a potential term $e^{bϕ}Λ$ is obtained. Their causal strutures are investigated, and thermodynamical temperature and entropy are computed. One particular black hole in the family has the same thermodynamical properties as the Schwarzschild black hole in $3+1$ dimensions. Solutions with cosmological horizons are also discussed. Finally, a class of black holes arising from the dilaton with a negative kinetic term (tachyon) is briefly…
We extend the problem of $(1+1)$ circular dilaton gravity to include charged particles. We examine the two (charged) particle case in detail and find an exact equilibrium solution. We then extend this to $N-$particles and obtain a solution for this case as well. This class of solutions corresponds to $N$-particles of the same mass, spaced evenly around the circle with charges chosen so that the electric field satisfies $E^{2}=$constant. We discuss the relation of these solutions to the previous uncharged equilibrium solutions and examine the behavior when the number of particles is large. We c…
In this paper, we study the deflection of light by a class of charged wormholes within the context of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. The primordial wormholes are predicted to exist in the early universe, where inflation driven by the dilaton field. We perform our analysis through optical geometry using the Gibbons-Werner method (GW), by adopting the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the standard geodesics approach. We report an interesting result for the deflection angle in leading-order terms--namely, the deflection angle increases due to the electric charge $Q$ and the magnetic charge $P$, wher…
Regarding the wide applications of dilaton gravity in the presence of electrodynamics, we introduce a suitable Lagrangian for the coupling of dilaton with gauge field. There are various Lagrangians which show the coupling between scalar fields and electrodynamics with correct special situations. In this paper, taking into account conformal transformation of Brans-Dicke theory with an electrodynamics Lagrangian, we show that how scalar field should couple with electrodynamics in dilaton gravity. In other words, in order to introduce a correct Lagrangian of dilaton gravity, one should check at l…
It is well known that the charged scalar perturbations of the Reissner-Nordstrom metric will decay slower at very late times than the neutral ones, thereby dominating in the late time signal. We show that at the stage of quasinormal ringing, on the contrary, the neutral perturbations will decay slower for RN, RNAdS and dilaton black holes. The QN frequencies of the nearly extreme RN black hole have the same imaginary parts (damping times) for charged and neutral perturbations. An explanation of this fact is not clear but, possibly, is connected with the Choptuik scaling.
In this note we examine the circular time-like geodesics near a spherically symmetric dilaton black hole, described using the exact solution for a static charged black hole found by Gibbons and Maeda and, independently, by Garfinkle, Horowitz and Strominger. The existence and stability of the circular orbits are analysed using the effective potential of a free material test particle moving on time-like geodesic near this black hole. We determine the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit, the radius of the shortest circular orbit and compare our results with those obtained by other auth…
We apply the energy-momentum tensor to calculate energy, momentum and angular-momentum of two different tetrad fields. This tensor is coordinate independent of the gravitational field established in the Hamiltonian structure of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR). The spacetime of these tetrad fields is the charged dilaton. Our results show that the energy associated with one of these tetrad fields is consistent, while the other one does not show this consistency. Therefore, we use the regularized expression of the gravitational energy-momentum tensor of the TEGR. We inves…
In this paper, we extend the study on the nonlinear power-law Maxwell field to dilaton gravity. We introduce the $(n+1)$-dimensional action in which gravity is coupled to a dilaton and power-law nonlinear Maxwell field, and obtain the field equations by varying the action. We construct a new class of higher dimensional topological black hole solutions of Einstein-dilaton theory coupled to a power-law nonlinear Maxwell field and investigate the effects of the nonlinearity of the Maxwell source as well as the dilaton field on the properties of the spacetime. Interestingly enough, we find that th…
We show that the general framework proposed in arXiv:1410.0581 for the study of asymptotically flat vacuum black objects with $k+1$ equal magnitude angular momenta in $D\geq 5$ spacetime dimensions (with $0\leq k\leq \big[\frac{D-5}{2} \big]$) can be extended to the case of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMd) theory. This framework can describe black holes with spherical horizon topology, the simplest solutions corresponding to a class of electrically charged (dilatonic) Myers-Perry black holes. Balanced charged black objects with $ S^{n+1} \times S^{2k+1}$ horizon topology can also be studied (wit…
Dynamic phase transition of charged dilaton black holes is investigated in this paper. We introduce the Gibbs free energy landscape and calculate the corresponding $G_L$ for the dilaton black hole. On the one hand, we numerically solve the Fokker-Planck equation constrained by only the reflecting boundary condition. The effects of dilaton gravity on the probabilistic evolution of dilaton black holes are quite obvious. Firstly, the horizon radius difference between the large dilaton black hole and small dilaton black hole increases with the parameter $α$. Secondly, with the increasing of $α$, t…
In this paper the static, spherically symmetric and electrically charged black hole solutions in Einstein-Born-Infeld gravity with massive dilaton are investigated numerically. The Continuous Analog of Newton Method (CANM) is used to solve the corresponding nonlinear multipoint boundary value problems (BVPs). The linearized BVPs are solved numerically by means of collocation scheme of fourth order. A special class of solutions are the extremal ones. We show that the extremal horizons within the framework of the model satisfy some nonlinear system of algebraic equations. Depending on the charge…
The Reissner-Nordstrom-de Sitter black holes of standard Einstein-Maxwell theory with a cosmological constant have no analogue in dilatonic theories with a Liouville potential. The only exception are the solutions of maximal mass, the Charged Nariai solutions. We show that the structure of the solution space of the Dilatonic Charged Nariai black holes is quite different from the non-dilatonic case. Its dimensionality depends on the exponential coupling constants of the dilaton. We discuss the possibility of pair creating such black holes on a suitable background. We find conditions for the exi…
Motivated by thermodynamic analogy of black holes and Van der Waals liquid/gas system, in this paper, we study $P-V$ criticality of both dilatonic Born-Infeld black holes and their conformal solutions, Brans-Dicke-Born-Infeld solutions. Due to the conformal constraint, we have to neglect the old Lagrangian of dilatonic Born-Infeld theory and its black hole solutions, and introduce a new one. We obtain spherically symmetric nonlinearly charged black hole solutions in both Einstein and Jordan frames and then, we calculate the related conserved and thermodynamic quantities. After that, we extend …
Wave propagations in the presence of black holes is a significant problem both in theoretical and observational aspects, especially after the discovery of gravitational wave and confirmation of black holes. We study the scattering of massless scalar field by a charged dilatonic black hole in frame of full wave theory. We apply partial wave method to obtain the scattering cross sections of the scalar field, and investigate how the black hole charge affects the scalar scattering cross sections. Furthermore, we investigate the Regge pole approach of the scattering cross section of the dilatonic b…
In this study, we employ the scalar perturbations of the charged dilaton black hole (CDBH) found by Chan, Horne and Mann (CHM), and described with an action which emerges in the low-energy limit of the string theory. A CDBH is neither asymptotically flat (AF) nor non-asymptotically flat (NAF) spacetime. Depending on the value of its dilaton parameter "a", it has both Schwarzschild and linear dilaton black hole (LDBH) limits. We compute the complex frequencies of the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of the CDBH by considering small perturbations around its horizon. By using the highly damped QNMs in th…
We consider Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with charged dust and interaction of the form $P(χ) F_{μν} F^{μν}$, where $P(χ)$ is an arbitrary function of the dilaton field $χ$ that can be normal or phantom. For any regular $P(χ)$, static configurations are possible with arbitrary functions $g_{00} = \exp(2γ(x^i))$ ($i=1,2,3$) and $χ= χ(γ)$, without any assumption of spatial symmetry. The classical Majumdar-Papapetrou system is restored by putting $χ=$ const. Among possible solutions are black-hole (BH) and quasi-black-hole (QBH) ones. Some general results on BH and QBH properties are deduced a…
In this paper we study the dynamics of $ n-1$ dimensional domain wall universe embedded in a $n$ dimensional charged dilaton black hole bulk with the non-asymptotically flat and non-asymptotically (A)dS characters. We find that domain wall can always cross horizon, for which the dilaton coupling constant $a$ and the ratio of pressure to density $w$ play the role of controlling parameters. Then the consequent domain wall motion outside the black hole generally falls into four situations: all time accelerating expansion, slow expansion with a constant speed, expansion followed by collapsing into…
Originally, Parikh and Wilczek's work is only suitable for the massless particles' tunneling. But their work has been further extended to the cases of massive uncharged and charged particles' tunneling recently. In this paper, as a particular black hole solution, we apply this extended method to reconsider the tunneling effect of the H.S Dilaton black hole. We investigate the behavior of both massive uncharged and charged particles, and respectively calculate the emission rate at the event horizon. Our result shows that their emission rates are also consistent with the unitary theory. Moreover…
It is known that scalar-tensor gravity models can be studied in Einstein and Jordan frames. In this paper, we consider a model of scalar-tensor gravity in Einstein's frame to calculate the Lifshitz-like black hole solutions with different horizon topologies. We study thermodynamic properties and first order van der Waals like phase transition, and find that the Lifshitz parameter affects the phase structure. In addition, we investigate thermal stability by using the behavior of heat capacity and various methods of geometrical thermodynamics.
Investigation of quasibound states of black holes is significant for expected ultra light particles, as well as black holes through gravitational waves. We first investigate quasibound states of a massive scalar field for dilatonic charged black holes via numerical analysis. We study the complex eigen frequencies of the massive scalar field in a wide range of gravitational fine structure constant $μM$ in detail, and show the effects of charge. Further, we study the eigen frequencies of the massive field through analytical approach by matching the near horizon solution and far field solution, a…
In this paper we study the timelike geodesics around a spherically symmetric charged dilaton black hole. The trajectories around the black hole are classified using the effective potential of a free test particle. This qualitative approach enables us to determine the type of the orbit described by the test particle without solving the equations of motion, if the parameters of the black hole and the particle are known. The connections between these parameters and the type of orbit described by the particle are obtained. To visualize the orbits we solve numerically the equation of motions for di…
Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory is an interesting and well-motivated theoretical laboratory to explore the impact of new fundamental degrees of freedom in the context of testing the no-hair conjecture, due to the existence of hairy black hole solutions together with the propagation of scalar, vector and tensor modes. In this paper we compute the quasinormal mode spectrum of static and slowly rotating black holes for generic values of the dilaton coupling, within a weak electric charge approximation. Our results suggest that these spacetimes are stable for generic values of the dilaton coupling…
We consider an Einstein-Hilbert-Dilaton action for gravity coupled to various types of Abelian and non-Abelian gauge fields in a spatially finite system. These include Yang-Mills fields and Abelian gauge fields with three and four-form field strengths. We obtain various quasilocal quantities associated with these fields, including their energy and angular momentum, and develop methods for calculating conserved charges when a solution possesses sufficient symmetry. For stationary black holes, we find an expression for the entropy from the micro-canonical form of the action. We also find a form …
We revisit critical behaviour and phase structure of charged anti-deSitter (AdS) dilaton black holes for arbitrary values of dilaton coupling $α$, and realize several novel phase behaviour for this system. We adopt the viewpoint that cosmological constant (pressure) is fixed and treat the charge of the black hole as a thermodynamical variable. We study critical behaviour and phase structure by analyzing the phase diagrams in $T-S$ and $ q-T$ planes. We numerically derive the critical point in terms of $α$ and observe that for $α=1$ and $α\geq \sqrt{3}$, the system does not admit any critical p…
We construct a new class of charged rotating black brane solutions in the presence of logarithmic nonlinear electrodynamics with complete set of the rotation parameters in arbitrary dimensions. The topology of the horizon of these rotating black branes are flat, while, due to the presence of the dilaton field the asymptotic behaviour of them are neither flat nor (anti)-de Sitter [(A)dS]. We investigate the physical properties of the solutions. The mass and angular momentum of the spacetime are obtained by using the counterterm method inspired by AdS/CFT correspondence. We derive temperature, e…
We relate various black hole solutions in the near-horizon region to black hole solutions in two-dimensional dilaton gravity theories in order to argue that thermodynamics of black holes in D>=4 can be effectively described by thermodynamics of black holes in two-dimensional dilaton gravity theories. We show that the Bekenstein-Hawking entropies of single-charged dilatonic black holes and dilatonic p-branes with an arbitrary dilaton coupling parameter in arbitrary spacetime dimensions are exactly reproduced by the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of the two-dimensional black hole in the associated t…
