In 2001, Khovanov and Seidel constructed a faithful action of the (m+1)-strand braid group on the derived category of left modules over a quiver algebra, A_m. We interpret the Hochschild homology of the Khovanov-Seidel braid invariant as a direct summand of the sutured Khovanov homology of the annular braid closure.
We discuss functoriality properties of the Ozsvath-Szabo contact invariant, and expose a number of results which seemed destined for folklore. We clarify the (in)dependence of the invariant on the basepoint, prove that it is functorial with respect to contactomorphisms, and show that it is strongly functorial under Stein cobordisms.
Thanks to a result of Lisca and Matic and a refinement by Plamenevskaya, it is known that on a 4-manifold with boundary Stein structures with non-isomorphic Spinc structures induce contact structures with distinct Ozsvath-Szabo invariants. Here we give an infinite family of examples showing that converse of Lisca-Matic-Plamenevskaya theorem does not hold in general. Our examples arise from Mazur type corks.
We show that Ozsváth-Szabó's bordered algebra used to efficiently compute knot Floer homology is a graded flat deformation of the regular block of a $\mathfrak{q}$-presentable quotient of parabolic category $\mathcal{O}$. We identify the endomorphism algebra of a minimal projective generator for this block with an explicit quotient of the Ozsváth-Szabó algebra using Sartori's diagrammatic formulation of the endomorphism algebra. Both of these algebras give rise to categorifications of tensor products of the vector representation $V^{\otimes n}$ for $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}(1|1))$. Our isomorphism al…
We present some non-trivial calculations of Baldwin-Ozsváth-Szabó cohomology of links, and applications to Heegaard-Floer homology of branched double covers.
We investigate a relationship between Ozsváth and Szabó's bordered theory and the algebras and bimodules constructed by Khovanov-Seidel. Specifically, we show that (a variant of) a special case of Ozsváth-Szabó's algebras has a quotient which is isomorphic to the Khovanov-Seidel quiver algebra with coefficients in $\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$. Furthermore, we show that after induction and restriction of scalars, the dg bimodule over quiver algebras associated to a crossing by Khovanov-Seidel is homotopy equivalent to Ozsváth-Szabó's DA bimodule for the crossing in this special case.
The Khovanov homology of a link in $S^3$ and the Heegaard Floer homology of its branched double cover are related through a spectral sequence constructed by Ozsváth and Szabó. This spectral sequence has topological applications but is difficult to compute. We build an isomorphic spectral sequence whose underlying filtered complex is as simple as possible: it has the same rank as the Khovanov chain group. We show that this spectral sequence is not isomorphic to Szabó's combinatorial spectral sequence, which Seed and Szabó conjectured to be equivalent to Ozsváth-\Szabo's. The discrepancy leads u…
Given a smooth, compact four-manifold $X$ viewed as a cobordism from the empty set to its connected boundary, we demonstrate how to use the data of a trisection map $π:X^{4} \to \mathbb{D}^{2}$ to compute the induced cobordism maps on Heegaard Floer homology associated to $X$.
For any rational homology 3-sphere and one of its spin^{c}-structures, Ozsvath and Szabo defined a topological invariant, called d-invariant. Given a knot in the 3-sphere, the d-invariants associated with the prime-power-fold branched covers of the knot, obstruct the smooth sliceness of the knot. These invariants bear some structural resemblances to Casson-Gordon invariants, which obstruct the topological sliceness of a knot. Se-Goo Kim found a polynomial splitting property for Casson-Gordon invariants. In this paper, we show a similar result for Ozsvath and Szabo's d-invariants. We give an ap…
We compute the effect of concordance surgery, a generalization of knot surgery defined using a self-concordance of a knot, on the Ozsváth-Szabó 4-manifold invariant. The formula involves the graded Lefschetz number of the concordance map on knot Floer homology. The proof uses the sutured Floer TQFT, and a version of sutured Floer homology perturbed by a 2-form.
Ozsvath and Szabo recently constructed an algebraically defined invariant of tangles which takes the form of a DA bimodule. This invariant is expected to compute knot Floer homology. The authors have a similar construction for open braids and their plat closures which can be viewed as a filtered DA bimodule over the same algebras. For a closed diagram, this invariant computes the Khovanov homology of the knot or link. We show that forgetting the filtration, our DA bimodules are homotopy equivalent to a suitable version of the Ozsvath- Szabo bimodules. In addition to giving a relationship betwe…
In this paper, we generalize the work of the second author and prove a grading shifting property, in sutured monopole and instanton Floer theories, for general balanced sutured manifolds. This result has a few consequences. First, we offer an algorithm that computes the Floer homologies of a family of sutured handle-bodies. Second, we obtain a canonical decomposition of sutured monopole and instanton Floer homologies and build polytopes for these two theories, which was initially achieved by Juhász for sutured (Heegaard) Floer homology. Third, we establish a Thurston-norm detection result for …
The Ozsvath-Szabo contact invariant is a complete classification invariant for tight contact structures on small Seifert fibered 3-manifolds which are L-spaces.
Seidel-Smith and Hendricks used equivariant Floer cohomology to define some spectral sequences from symplectic Khovanov homology and Heegaard Floer homology. These spectral sequences give rise to Smith-type inequalities. Similar-looking spectral sequences have been defined by Lee, Bar-Natan, Ozsváth-Szabó, Lipshitz-Treumann, Szabó, Sarkar-Seed-Szabó, and others. In this paper we give another construction of equivariant Floer cohomology with respect to a finite group action and use it to prove some invariance properties of these spectral sequences; prove that some of these spectral sequences ag…
In this paper we construct a sequence of integer-valued concordance invariants $ν_n(K)$ that generalize the Ozsváth-Szabó $ν$-invariant and the Hom-Wu $ν^+$-invariant.
