We prove that if $X$ and $Y$ are two Gaussian fields with equivalent spectral densities, they have the same sample paths properties in any separable Banach space continuously embedded in $\mathcal{C}^0(K)$ where $K$ is a compact set of $\mathbb{R}^d$.
In the present note we investigate the problem of standardizing random variables taking values on infinite dimensional Gaussian spaces. In particular, we focus on the transformations induced on densities by the selected standardization procedure. We discover that, under certain conditions, the Wick exponentials are the key ingredients for treating this kind of problems.
Making use of a Rice-like series expansion, for a class of stationary Gaussian processes the asymptotic behavior of the first passage time probability density function through certain time-varying boundaries, including periodic boundaries, is determined. Sufficient conditions are then given such that the density asymptotically exhibits an exponential behavior when the boundary is either asymptotically constant or asymptotically periodic.
The aim of this paper is to establish the uniform convergence of the densities of a sequence of random variables, which are functionals of an underlying Gaussian process, to a normal density. Precise estimates for the uniform distance are derived by using the techniques of Malliavin calculus, combined with Stein's method for normal approximation. We need to assume some non-degeneracy conditions. First, the study is focused on random variables in a fixed Wiener chaos, and later, the results are extended to the uniform convergence of the derivatives of the densities and to the case of random vec…
The aim of this paper is twofold. Firstly, we derive upper and lower non-Gaussian bounds for the densities of the marginal laws of the solutions to backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) driven by fractional Brownian motions. Our arguments consist of utilising a relationship between fractional BSDEs and quasilinear partial differential equations of mixed type, together with the profound Nourdin-Viens formula. In the linear case, upper and lower Gaussian bounds for the densities and the tail probabilities of solutions are obtained with simple arguments by their explicit expressions …
We propose a definition of directional multivariate subexponential and convolution equivalent densities and find a useful characterization of these notions for a class of integrable and almost radial decreasing functions. We apply this result to show that the density of the absolutely continuous part of the compound Poisson measure built on a given density $f$ is directionally convolution equivalent and inherits its asymptotic behaviour from $f$ if and only if $ f$ is directionally convolution equivalent. We also extend this characterization to the densities of more general infinitely divisibl…
In this paper the author analyses the weighted Renyi entropy in order to derive several inequalities in weighted case. Furthermore, using the proposed notions $α$-th generalized derivation and ($α$; p)-th weighted Fisher information, extended versions of the moment-entropy, Fisher information and Cramer-Rao inequalities in terms of generalized Gaussian densities are given.
The aim of this paper is to present an extension of the well-known as-ymptotic equivalence between density estimation experiments and a Gaussian white noise model. Our extension consists in enlarging the nonparametric class of the admissible densities. More precisely, we propose a way to allow densities defined on any subinterval of R, and also some discontinuous or unbounded densities are considered (so long as the discontinuity and unboundedness patterns are somehow known a priori). The concept of equivalence that we shall adopt is in the sense of the Le Cam distance between statistical mode…
Relations between subexponential densities and locally subexponential distributions are discussed. It is shown that the class of subexponential densities is neither closed under convolution roots nor closed under asymptotic equivalence. A remark is given on the closure under convolution roots for the class of convolution equivalent distributions.
We study the densities of limiting distributions of squared singular values of high-dimensional matrix products composed of independent complex Gaussian (complex Ginibre) and truncated unitary matrices which are taken from Haar distributed unitary matrices with appropriate dimensional growth. In the general case we develop a new approach to obtain complex integral representations for densities of measures whose Stieltjes transforms satisfy algebraic equations of a certain type. In the special cases in which at most one factor of the product is a complex Gaussian we derive elementary expression…
We consider stochastic differential equations dY=V(Y)dX driven by a multidimensional Gaussian process X in the rough path sense. Using Malliavin Calculus we show that Y(t) admits a density for t in (0,T] provided (i) the vector fields V=(V_1,...,V_d) satisfy Hoermander's condition and (ii) the Gaussian driving signal X satisfies certain conditions. Examples of driving signals include fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H>1/4, the Brownian Bridge returning to zero after time T and the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process.
We prove three results on the existence of densities for the laws of finite dimensional functionals of the solutions of the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations in dimension 3. In particular, under very mild assumptions on the noise, we prove that finite dimensional projections of the solutions have densities with respect to the Lebesgue measure which have some smoothness when measured in a Besov space. This is proved thanks to a new argument inspired by an idea introduced in Fournier and Printems (2010).
We study the regularity of densities of distributions that are polynomial images of the standard Gaussian measure on $\mathbb{R}^n$. We assume that the degree of a polynomial is fixed and that each variable enters to a power bounded by another fixed number.
We prove asymptotic behaviour of transition density for a large class of spectrally one-sided Lévy processes of unbounded variation satisfying mild condition imposed on the second derivative of the Laplace exponent, or equivalently, on the real part of the characteristic exponent. We also provide sharp two-sided estimates on the density when restricted additionally to processes without Gaussian component.
In this paper, we consider the distribution of the supremum of non-stationary Gaussian processes, and present a new theoretical result on the asymptotic behaviour of this distribution. Unlike previously known facts in this field, our main theorem yields the asymptotic representation of the corresponding distribution function with exponentially decaying remainder term. This result can be efficiently used for studying the projection density estimates, based, for instance, on Legendre polynomials. More precisely, we construct the sequence of accompanying laws, which approximates the distribution …
Two types of Gaussian processes, namely the Gaussian field with generalized Cauchy covariance (GFGCC) and the Gaussian sheet with generalized Cauchy covariance (GSGCC) are considered. Some of the basic properties and the asymptotic properties of the spectral densities of these random fields are studied. The associated self-similar random fields obtained by applying the Lamperti transformation to GFGCC and GSGCC are studied.
We consider the optimal transport problem between zero mean Gaussian stationary random fields both in the aperiodic and periodic case. We show that the solution corresponds to a weighted Hellinger distance between the multivariate and multidimensional power spectral densities of the random fields. Then, we show that such a distance defines a geodesic, which depends on the weight function, on the manifold of the multivariate and multidimensional power spectral densities.
In this paper, we study the stochastic heat equation with a general multiplicative Gaussian noise that is white in time and colored in space. Both regularity and strict positivity of the densities of the solution have been established. The difficulty, and hence the contribution, of the paper lie in three aspects, which include rough initial conditions, degenerate diffusion coefficient, and weakest possible assumptions on the correlation function of the noise. In particular, our results cover the parabolic Anderson model starting from a Dirac delta initial measure.
For the white noise, the spectral density is constant, and the past (restriction to (-\infty,0)) is independent from the future (restriction to (0,+\infty)). If the spectral density is not too far from being constant, then dependence between the past and the future can be eliminated by an equivalent measure change; that is called an off-white noise. I derive from well-known results a necessary and sufficient condition for a spectral density to describe an off-white noise.
In this paper we establish the existence of a square integrable occupation density for two classes of stochastic processes. First we consider a Gaussian process with an absolutely continuous random drift, and secondly we handle the case of a (Skorohod) integral with respect to the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H>\frac 12$. The proof of these results uses a general criterion for the existence of a square integrable local time, which is based on the techniques of Malliavin calculus.
We construct the fundamental solution of $\partial_t-Δ_y- q(t,y)$, for functions $q$ with a certain integral space-time relative smallness, in particular for those satisfying a relative Kato condition. The resulting transition density is comparable to the Gaussian kernel in finite time, and it is even asymptotically equal to the Gaussian kernel (in small time) under the relative Kato condition. The result is generalized to arbitrary strictly positive and finite time-nonhomogeneous transition densities on measure spaces. We also discuss specific applications to Schrödinger perturbations of the …
In this paper, we consider projection estimates for Lévy densities in high-frequency setup. We give a unified treatment for different sets of basis functions and focus on the asymptotic properties of the maximal deviation distribution for these estimates. Our results are based on the idea to reformulate the problems in terms of Gaussian processes of some special type and to further analyze these Gaussian processes. In particular, we construct a sequence of excursion sets, which guarantees the convergence of the deviation distribution to the Gumbel distribution. We show that the rates of conver…
We prove an optimal 4G Theorem for the Gaussian kernel. We also propose a new general method of estimating Schroedinger perturbations of transition densities, and give applications to the Gaussian kernel.
We describe two classes of Gaussian self-similar random fields: with strictly stationary rectangular increments and with mild stationary rectangular increments. We find explicit spectral and moving average representations for the fields with strictly stationary rectangular increments and characterize fields with mild stationary rectangular increments by the properties of covariance functions of their Lamperti transformations as well as in terms of their spectral densities. We establish that both classes contain not only fractional Brownian sheets and we provide corresponding examples. As a by-…
We study the notions of differentiating and non-differentiating sigma-fields in the general framework of (possibly drifted) Gaussian processes, and characterize their invariance properties under equivalent changes of probability measure. As an application, we investigate the class of stochastic derivatives associated with shifted fractional Brownian motions. We finally establish conditions for the existence of a jointly measurable version of the differentiated process, and we outline a general framework for stochastic embedded equations.
This paper focuses on the outline of some computational methods for the approximate solution of the integral equations for the neuronal firing probability density and an algorithm for the generation of sample-paths in order to construct histograms estimating the firing densities. Our results originate from the study of non-Markov stationary Gaussian neuronal models with the aim to determine the neuron's firing probability density function. A parallel algorithm has been implemented in order to simulate large numbers of sample paths of Gaussian processes characterized by damped oscillatory covar…
We prove that the densities of the finite dimensional projections of weak solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations driven by Gaussian noise are bounded and Hölder continuous, thus improving the results of Debussche and Romito [DebRom2014]. The proof is based on analytical estimates on a conditioned Fokker-Planck equation solved by the density, that has a "non-local" term that takes into account the influence of the rest of the infinite dimensional dynamics over the finite subspace under observation.
We establish dual equivalent forms involving relative entropy, Fisher information and optimal transport costs of inverse Santal{ó} inequalities. We show in particular that the Mahler conjecture is equivalent to some dimensional lower bound on the deficit in the Gaussian logarithmic Sobolev inequality. We also derive from existing results on inverse Santal{ó} inequalities some sharp lower bounds on the deficit in the Gaussian logarithmic Sobolev inequality.
We introduce a class of unbiased Monte Carlo estimators for the multivariate density of max-stable fields generated by Gaussian processes. Our estimators take advantage of recent results on exact simulation of max-stable fields combined with identities studied in the Malliavin calculus literature and ideas developed in the multilevel Monte Carlo literature. Our approach allows estimating multivariate densities of max-stable fields with precision $\varepsilon $ at a computational cost of order $O\left( \varepsilon ^{-2}\log \log \log \left( 1/\varepsilon \right) \right) $.
We apply Malliavin calculus to the $Φ^4_3$ equation on the torus and prove existence of densities for the solution of the equation evaluated at regular enough test functions. We work in the framework of regularity structures and rely on Besov-type spaces of modelled distributions in order to prove Malliavin differentiability of the solution. Our result applies to a large family of Gaussian space-time noises including white noise, in particular the noise may be degenerate as long as it is sufficiently rough on small scales.
In this paper, we introduce a family of observables for the dimer model on a bi-periodic bipartite planar graph, called pattern density fields. We study the scaling limit of these objects for liquid and gaseous Gibbs measures of the dimer model, and prove that they converge to a linear combination of a derivative of the Gaussian massless free field and an independent white noise.
Testable weighted graph parameters and equivalent notions of testability are investigated based on papers of Laszlo Lovasz and coauthors. We prove that certain balanced minimum multiway cut densities are testable. Using this fact, quadratic programming techniques are applied to approximate some of these quantities. The problem is related to cluster analysis and statistical physics. Convergence of special noisy graph sequences is also discussed.
We consider Gaussian random monochromatic waves $u$ on the plane depending on a real parameter $s$ that is directly related to the regularity of its Fourier transform. Specifically, the Fourier transform of $u$ is $f\,dσ$, where $dσ$ is the Hausdorff measure on the unit circle and the density $f$ is a function on the circle that, roughly speaking, has exactly $s-\frac12$ derivatives in $L^2$ almost surely. When $s=0$, one recovers the classical setting for random waves with a translation-invariant covariance-kernel. The main thrust of this paper is to explore the connection between the regular…
We demonstrate the parallel between the properties of Gaussian vectors and the Euclidean geometry. In particular we study the Markov property and give various equivalent Euclidean and probabilistic characterizations. We also give a simple Euclidean proof of the conditional maximality of the differential entropy for the Markov Gaussian vector (related to the Burg's Theorem).
