We study parabolically induced representations for $GSpin_m(F)$ with $F$ a $p$--adic field of characteristic zero. The Knapp-Stein $R$--groups are described and shown to be elementary two groups. We show the associated cocycle is trivial proving multiplicity one for induced representations. We classify the elliptic tempered spectrum. For $GSpin_{2n+1}(F)$, we describe the Arthur (Endoscopic) $R$--group attached to Langlands parameters, and show these are isomorphic to the corresponding Knapp-Stein $R$--groups.
In the case of split $GSpin$ groups, we prove an equality of $L$-functions between automorphic local $L$-functions defined by the Langlands-Shahidi method and local Artin $L$-functions. Our method of proof is based on previous results of the first author which allow to reduce the problem to supercuspidal representations of Levi subgroups of $GSpin$, by constructing Langlands parameters for general generic irreducible admissible representations of $GSpin $ from the one for generic irreducible supercuspidal representations of its Levi subgroups.
In this paper we provide an extension of the theory of descent of Ginzburg-Rallis- Soudry to the context of essentially self-dual representations, that is representations which are isomorphic to the twist of their own contragredient by some Hecke character. Our theory supplements the recent work of Asgari-Shahidi on the functorial lift from (split and quasisplit forms of) GSpin(2n) to GL(2n).
The purpose of this note is to announce an extension of the descent method of Ginzburg, Rallis and Soudry to the setting of essentially self dual representations. This extension of the descent construction provides a complement to recent work of Asgari and Shahidi on the generic transfer for general Spin groups as well as to the work of Asgari and Raghuram on cuspidality of the exterior square lift for representations of GL4. Complete proofs of the results announced in the present note will appear in our forthcoming articles.
Each orthogonal group $\OO(n)$ has a nontrivial $\GL(1)$-extension, which we call $\GPin(n)$. The identity component of $\GPin(n)$ is the more familiar $\GSpin(n)$, the general Spin group. We prove that the restriction to $\GPin(n-1)$ of an irreducible admissible representation of $\GPin(n)$ over a nonarchimedean local field of characteristic zero is multiplicity free and also prove the analogous theorem for $\GSpin(n)$. Our proof uses the method of Aizenbud, Gourevitch, Rallis and Schiffman, who proved the analogous theorem for $\OO(n)$, and Waldspurger, who proved that for $\SO(n)$. We also …
We prove the existence of $\mathrm{GSpin}_{2n}$-valued Galois representations corresponding to cohomological cuspidal automorphic representations of certain quasi-split forms of $\mathrm{GSO}_{2n}$ under the local hypotheses that there is a Steinberg component and that the archimedean parameters are regular for the standard representation. This is based on the cohomology of Shimura varieties of abelian type, of type $D^{\mathbb{H}}$, arising from forms of $\mathrm{GSO}_{2n}$. As an application, under similar hypotheses, we compute automorphic multiplicities, prove meromorphic continuation of (…
Let $Π_0$ be a representation of a group $H$. We say that a representation $τ$ is $(H,Π_0)$-distinguished, if it is a quotient of $Π_0$. It is natural to ask whether this notion "inflates" to larger groups, in the sense that a representation $\mathrm{I}(τ)$ induced from $τ$ and $H$ to a group $G$, is $(G,Π)$-distinguished. We study representations distinguished by theta representations: $H=GL_n$, $Π_0$ is a pair of the exceptional representations of Kazhdan and Patterson, $G=GSpin_{2n+1}$ and $Π$ is a pair of the small representations of Bump, Friedberg and Ginzburg. We prove a Rodier-type her…
The tempered spectrum of the similitude groups of non-degenerate symplectic, hermitian, or split orthogonal forms defined over $p$\snug-adic groups of characteristic zero is studied. The components of representations induced from discrete series of proper parabolic subgroups are classified in terms of $R$\snug-groups. Multiplicity one is proved. The tempered elliptic spectrum is identified, and the relation between elliptic characters appearing in a given induced representation is determined. Those irreducible tempered representations which are not elliptic and not fully induced from elliptic …
With analytic applications in mind, in particular Beyond Endoscopy ([13]), we initiate the study of the elliptic part of the trace formula. Incorporating the approximate functional equation to the elliptic part we control the analytic behavior of the volumes of tori that appear in the elliptic part. Furthermore by carefully choosing the truncation parameter in the approximate functional equation we smooth-out the singularities of orbital integrals. Finally by an application of Poisson summation we rewrite the elliptic part so that it is ready to be used in analytic applications, and in particu…
Artin conjectured that certain Galois representations should give rise to entire L-series. We give some history on the conjecture and motivation of why it should be true by discussing the one-dimensional case. The first known example to verify the conjecture in the icosahedral case did not surface until Buhler's work in 1977. We explain how this icosahedral representation is attached to a modular elliptic curve isogenous to its Galois conjugates, and then explain how it is associated to a cusp form of weight 5 with level prime to 5.
We examine the reducibility of induced from discrete series representations of $SU_n$ over a $p$--adic field of characteristic zero. Some results are given for groups sharing derived group. We give a relationship between the $R$-groups for $U)n$ and $SU_n.$ Nonabelian $R$-groups are discussed. Elliptic representations are examined and in the generic case we give an explicit description f those $L$--packets containing non-discrete elliptic tempered representations. We exhibit $L$--packets containing both elliptic and non-elliptic components.
We prove that irreducible representations of the elliptic affine Hecke algebras of Ginzburg, Kapranov, and Vasserot are in one-to-one correspondence with certain nilpotent Higgs bundles on the elliptic curve. The main tool we use is the equivariant elliptic cohomology of the Steinberg variety of the Springer resolution. As a by-product, we study representations at roots of unity in type-$A$. As another by-product, we define a version of elliptic Demazure-Lusztig operators with dynamical parameters that satisfy the braid relations. We discuss speculative indications of this correspondence in 4d…
For a Weyl group W, we give a simple closed formula (valid on elliptic conjugacy classes) for the character of the representation of W in each A-isotypic component of the full homology of a Springer fiber. We also give a formula (valid again on elliptic conjugacy classes) of the W-character of an irreducible discrete series representation with real central character of a graded affine Hecke algebra with arbitrary parameters. In both cases, the Pin double cover of W and the Dirac operator for graded affine Hecke algebras play key roles.
We give a complete description of the discrete spectra in the branching law $Π|_{G'}$ with respect to the pair $(G,G')=(O(p,q), O(p',q') \times O(p'',q''))$ for irreducible unitary representations $Π$ of $G$ that are "geometric quantization" of minimal elliptic coadjoint orbits. We also construct explicitly all holographic operators and prove a closed Parseval-type formula.
In this paper, we consider the relation between two nonabelian Fourier transforms. The first one is defined in terms of the Langlands-Kazhdan-Lusztig parameters for unipotent elliptic representations of a split p-adic group and the second is defined in terms of the pseudocoefficients of these representations and Lusztig's nonabelian Fourier transform for characters of finite groups of Lie type. We exemplify this relation in the case of the p-adic group of type G_2.
The first part (Sections 1-6) of this paper is a survey of some of the recent developments in the theory of Dirac cohomology, especially the relationship of Dirac cohomology with (g,K)-cohomology and nilpotent Lie algebra cohomology; the second part (Sections 7-12) is devoted to understanding the unitary elliptic representations and endoscopic transfer by using the techniques in Dirac cohomology. A few problems and conjectures are proposed for further investigations.
We define an involution on the space of elliptic unipotent Langlands parameters of a reductive $p$-adic group $G$ and verify that when $G$ is split adjoint exceptional, the composition of this involution with the hyperspecial parahoric restriction map agrees with Lusztig's nonabelian Fourier transform for unipotent representations of the finite reductive quotient. This is inspired by recent works of Lusztig on the almost unipotent characters of $p$-adic groups and of Moeglin and Waldspurger on the elliptic Fourier transform of odd orthogonal groups.
The category of finite dimensional (type 1) representations of a quantum affine algebra $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak g})$ is not semisimple. However, as any abelian category with finite-length objects, it admits a unique decomposition into a direct sum of indecomposable subcategorie (blocks). We define the elliptic central character of a finite dimensional (type 1) representation of $U_q(\hat{\mathfrak g})$. Then we show that the block decomposition of this category is paramentrized by these elliptic central characters.
We introduce a notion of elliptic fake degrees for unipotent elliptic representations of a semisimple p-adic group. We conjecture, and verify in some cases, that the relation between the formal degrees of unipotent discrete series representations of a semisimple p-adic group and the elliptic fake degrees is given by the exotic Fourier transform matrix introduced by Lusztig in the study of representations of finite groups of Lie type.
We give an explicit formula for the exchange matrix correponding to the tensor product of two copies of the natural (standard) evaluation representation of the quantum group associated to the affine Lie algebra of sl(n+1). Then we calculate the gauge trasformations that transforms it into Felder's elliptic solution of the quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter equation, for the proper parameters. All intermediate formulas are explicitly calculated.
Some Weyl group acts on a family of rational varieties obtained by successive blow-ups at $m$ ($m\geq n+2$) points in the projective space $\mpp^n(\mc)$. In this paper we study the case where all the points of blow-ups lie on a certain elliptic curve in $\mpp^n$. Investigating the action of Weyl group on the Picard groups on the elliptic curve and on rational varieties, we show that the action on the parameters can be written as a group of linear transformations on the $(m+1)$-st power of a torus.
We construct a finite dimensional representation of the face type, i.e dynamical, elliptic quantum group associated with $sl_N$ on the Gelfand-Tsetlin basis of the tensor product of the $n$-vector representations. The result is described in a combinatorial way by using the partitions of $[1,n]$. We find that the change of basis matrix from the standard to the Gelfand-Tsetlin basis is given by a specialization of the elliptic weight function obtained in the previous paper[Konno17]. Identifying the elliptic weight functions with the elliptic stable envelopes obtained by Aganagic and Okounkov, we…
We attach elliptic Dunkl operators to an abelian variety with a finite group action. This generalizes elliptic Dunkl operators for Weyl groups, defined by Buchstaber, Felder, and Veselov in 1994. We show that these operators commute, and use them to define representations from category O of elliptic Cherednik algebras. We also consider the monodromy representations of differential equations defined by elliptic Dunkl operators, and show that they yield finite dimensional rrepresentations of generalized double affine Hecke algebras.
We build representations of the elliptic braid group from the data of a quantum D-module M over a ribbon Hopf algebra U. The construction is modelled on, and generalizes, similar constructions by Lyubashenko and Majid, and also certain geometric constructions of Calaque, Enriquez, and Etingof concerning trigonometric Cherednik algebras. In this context, the former construction is the special case where M is the basic representation, while the latter construction can be recovered as a quasi-classical limit of U=U_t(sl_N), as t limits 1. In the latter case, we produce representations of the doub…
Let g be a complex semisimple Lie algebra, tau a point in the upper half-plane, and h a complex deformation parameter such that the image of h in the elliptic curve E_tau is of infinite order. In this paper, we give an intrinsic definition of the category of finite-dimensional representations of the elliptic quantum group E_{h,tau}(g) associated to g. The definition is given in terms of Drinfeld half-currents and extends that given by Enriquez-Felder for g=sl_2. When g=sl_n, it reproduces Felder's RLL definition via the Gauss decomposition obtained by Enriquez-Felder for n=2 and by the first a…
We give a representation theoretical proof of Branson's classification of minimal elliptic sums of generalized gradients. The original proof uses tools of harmonic analysis, which as powerful as they are, seem to be specific for the structure groups SO(n) and Spin(n). The different approach we propose is based on the relationship between ellipticity and optimal Kato constants and on the representation theory of so(n). Optimal Kato constants for elliptic operators were computed by Calderbank, Gauduchon and Herzlich. We extend their method to all generalized gradients (not necessarily elliptic) …
Richard Hain and Makoto Matsumoto constructed a category of universal mixed elliptic motives, and described the fundamental Lie algebra of this category: it is a semi-direct product of the fundamental Lie algebra Lie$\,π_1(MTM)$ of the category of mixed Tate motives over ${\bf Z}$ with a filtered and graded Lie algebra $u$. This Lie algebra, and in particular the subspace $u$, admits a representation as derivations of the free Lie algebra on two generators. In this paper we study the image $E$ of this representation of $u$, starting from some results by Aaron Pollack, who determined all the re…
Given a module $M$ for the algebra $\mathcal{D}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$ of quantum differential operators on $G$, and a positive integer $n$, we may equip the space $F_n^G(M)$ of invariant tensors in $V^{\otimes n}\otimes M$, with an action of the double affine Hecke algebra of type $A_{n-1}$. Here $G= SL_N$ or $GL_N$, and $V$ is the $N$-dimensional defining representation of $G$. In this paper we take $M$ to be the basic $\mathcal{D}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$-module, i.e. the quantized coordinate algebra $M= \mathcal{O}_{\mathtt{q}}(G)$. We describe a weight basis for $F_n^G(\mathcal{O}_{\mathtt{q}}(G))$ com…
By using representation theory of the elliptic quantum group U_{q,p}(sl_N^), we present a systematic method of deriving the weight functions. The resultant sl_N type elliptic weight functions are new and give elliptic and dynamical analogues of those obtained in the trigonometric case. We then discuss some basic properties of the elliptic weight functions. We also present an explicit formula for formal elliptic hypergeometric integral solution to the face type, i.e. dynamical, elliptic q-KZ equation.
We construct a global geometric model for complex analytic equivariant elliptic cohomology for all compact Lie groups. Cocycles are specified by functions on the space of fields of the two-dimensional sigma model with background gauge fields and $\mathcal{N} = (0, 1)$ supersymmetry. We also consider a theory of free fermions valued in a representation whose partition function is a section of a determinant line bundle. We identify this section with a cocycle representative of the (twisted) equivariant elliptic Euler class of the representation. Finally, we show that the moduli stack of $U(1)$-g…
