The aim of this paper is to show that the existence of attracting sets for quasiperiodically forced systems can be extended to appropriate skew-products on the cylinder, homotopic to the identity, in such a way that the general system will have (at least) one attracting set corresponding to every irrational rotation number ρin the rotation interval of the base map. This attracting set is a copy of the attracting set of the system quasiperiodically forced by a (rigid) rotation of angle ρ. This shows the co-existence of uncountably many attracting sets, one for each irrational in the rotation interval of the basis.
We study attracting graphs of step skew products from the topological and ergodic points of view where the usual contracting-like assumptions of the fiber dynamics are replaced by weaker merely topological conditions. In this context, we prove the existence of an attracting invariant graph and study its topological properties. We prove the existence of globally attracting measures and we show that (in some specific cases) the rate of convergence to these measures is exponential.
Suppose that a closed surface $S \subseteq \mathbb{R}^3$ is an attractor, not necessarily global, for a discrete dynamical system. Assuming that its set of wild points $W$ is totally disconnected, we prove that (up to an ambient homeomorphism) it has to be contained in a straight line. Using this result and a modification of the classical construction of a wild sphere due to Antoine we show that there exist uncountably many different $2$--spheres in $\mathbb{R}^3$ none of which can be realized as an attractor for a homeomorphism.
We show a partial generalization of Sullivan's non-wandering domain theorem in complex dimension two. More precisely, we show the non-existence of wandering Fatou components for polynomial skew products of $ \mathbb{C}^2$ with an invariant attracting fiber, under the assumption that the multiplier $ λ$ is small. We actually show a stronger result, namely that every forward orbit of any vertical Fatou disk intersects a bulging Fatou component.
We investigate the existence of wandering Fatou components for polynomial skew-products in two complex variables. In 2004 the non-existence of wandering domains near a super-attracting invariant fiber was shown in [8]. In 2014 it was shown in [1] that wandering domains can exist near a parabolic invariant fiber. In [9] the geometrically-attracting case was studied, and we continue this study here. We prove the non-existence of wandering domains for subhyperbolic attracting skew products; this class contains the maps studied in [9]. Using expansion properties on the Julia set in the invariant f…
Little is known about the existence of wandering Fatou components for rational maps in two complex variables. In 2003 Lilov proved the non-existence of wandering Fatou components for polynomial skew-products in the neighborhood of an invariant super-attracting fiber. In fact Lilov proved a stronger result, namely that the forward orbit of any vertical disk must intersect a fattened Fatou component of the invariant fiber. Naturally the next class of maps to study are polynomial skew-products with an invariant attracting (but not super-attracting) fiber. Here we show that Lilov's stronger result…
The main goal in this paper is to describe the geometric structure of invariant graphs of a certain class of skew products. Our focus is on attracting multi-graphs. An invariant multi-graph is an invariant compact set which is a finite union of invariant graphs, and thus consists of a finite number of points on each fiber. We introduce invariant bony multi-graphs and construct an open set of skew products over an invertible base map (solenoid map) having attracting invariant multi-graphs and bony multi-graphs which support finitely many ergodic SRB measures. In this study some thermodynamic pr…
We study a partially hyperbolic and topologically transitive local diffeomorphism $F$ that is a skew-product over a horseshoe map. This system is derived from a homoclinic class and contains infinitely many hyperbolic periodic points of different indices and hence is not hyperbolic. The associated transitive invariant set $Λ$ possesses a very rich fiber structure, it contains uncountably many trivial and uncountably many non-trivial fibers. Moreover, the spectrum of the central Lyapunov exponents of $F|_Λ$ contains a gap and hence gives rise to a first order phase transition. A major part of t…
We study step skew-products over a finite-state shift (base) space whose fiber maps are $C^1$ injective maps on the unit interval. We show that certain invariant sets have a multi-graph structure and can be written graphs of one, two or more functions defined on the base. In particular, this applies to any hyperbolic set and to the support of any ergodic hyperbolic measure. Moreover, within the class of step skew-products whose interval maps are 'absorbing', open and densely the phase space decomposes into attracting and repelling double-strips such that their attractors and repellers are grap…
Let $f:\mathbb{C}^2\to \mathbb{C}^2$ be a polynomial skew product which leaves invariant an attracting vertical line $ L $. Assume moreover $f$ restricted to $L$ is non-uniformly hyperbolic, in the sense that $f$ restricted to $L$ satisfies one of the following conditions: 1. $f|_L$ satisfies Topological Collet-Eckmann and Weak Regularity conditions. 2. The Lyapunov exponent at every critical value point lying in the Julia set of $f|_L$ exist and is positive, and there is no parabolic cycle. Under one of the above conditions we show that the Fatou set in the basin of $L$ coincides with the uni…
We discuss dynamics of skew product maps defined by circle diffeomorphisms forced by expanding circle maps. We construct an open class of such systems that are robust topologically mixing and for which almost all points in the same fiber converge under iteration. This property follows from the construction of an invariant attracting graph in the natural extension, a skew product of circle diffeomorphisms forced by a solenoid homeomorphism.
In this paper we address the existence and ergodicity of non-hyperbolic attracting sets for a certain class of smooth endomorphisms on the solid torus. Such systems allow a formulation as a skew product system defined by planar diffeomorphisms have contraction on average which forced by any expanding circle map. These attractors are invariant graphs of upper semicontinuous maps which support exactly one $SRB$ measure. In our approach, these skew product systems arising from iterated function systems generated by a finitely many weak contractive diffeomorphisms. Under some conditions including …
We investigate the description of Fatou components for polynomial skew-products in two complex variables. The non-existence of wandering domains near a super-attracting invariant fiber was shown in [L], and the geometrically-attracting case was studied in [PV] and [PS]. In [ABDPR] it was proven that wandering domains can exist near a parabolic invariant fiber. In this paper we study the remaining case, namely the dynamics near an elliptic invariant fiber. We prove that the two-dimensional Fatou components near the elliptic invariant fiber correspond exactly to the Fatou components of the restr…
In this paper we show that if $p$ is a polynomial which bifurcates then the product map $(z,w)\mapsto(p(z),q(w))$ can be approximated by polynomial skew products possessing special dynamical objets called blenders. Moreover, these objets can be chosen to be of two types : repelling or saddle. As a consequence, such product map belongs to the closure of the interior of two different sets : the bifurcation locus of $H_d(\mathbb P^2)$ and the set of endomorphisms having an attracting set of non-empty interior. In an independent part, we use perturbations of Hénon maps to obtain examples of attrac…
We propose a method to identify and to locate "repellers'' in quasi-periodically forced logistic map (QPLM), using a kind of Morse decomposition of nested attracting invariant sets. In order to obtain the invariant sets, we use an auxiliary 1+2-dimensional skew-product map system describing the evolution of a line segment in the phase space of QPLM. With this method, detailed structure of repellers can be visualized, and the emergence of a repeller in QPLM can be detected as an easily observable bifurcation in the auxiliary system. In addition to the method to detect the repellers, we propose …
We investigate the dynamics of semigroups generated by polynomial maps on the Riemann sphere such that the postcritical set in the complex plane is bounded. Moreover, we investigate the associated random dynamics of polynomials. Furthermore, we investigate the fiberwise dynamics of skew products related to polynomial semigroups with bounded planar postcritical set. Using uniform fiberwise quasiconformal surgery on a fiber bundle, we show that if the Julia set of such a semigroup is disconnected, then there exist families of uncountably many mutually disjoint quasicircles with uniform dilatatio…
