英文摘要:
Let $A$ be a positive injective operator in a Hilbert space (\h, <,>), and denote by [,] the inner product defined by A: [f,g]=<Af,g>. A closed subspace $\s \subset \h$ is called A-compatible if there exists a closed complement for $\s$, which is orthogonal to $\s$ with respect to the inner product [,]. Equivalently, if there exists a necessarily unique idempotent operator $Q_\s$ such that $R(Q_\s)=\s$, which is symmetric for this inner product. The compatible Grassmannian $Gr_A$ is the set of all A-compatible subspaces of $\h$. By parametrizing it via the one to one correspondence $\s\leftrightarrow Q_\s$, this set is shown to be a differentiable submanifold of the Banach space of all operators in $\h$ which are symmetric with respect to the form [,]. A Banach-Lie group acts naturally on the compatible Grassmannian, the group of all invertible operators in $\h$ which preserve the form [,]. Each connected component in $Gr_A$ of a compatible subspace $\s$ of finite dimension, turns out to be a symplectic leaf in a Banach Lie-Poisson space. For $1\le p \le \infty$, in the presence of a fixed [,]-orthogonal decomposition of $\h$, $\h=\s_0\dot{+} \n_0$, we study the restricted compatible Grassmannian (an analogue of the restricted, or Sato Grassmannian). This restricted compatible Grassmannian is shown to be a submanifold of the Banach space of p-Schatten operators which are symmetric for the form [,]. It carries the locally transitive action of the Banach-Lie group of invertible operators which preserve [,], and are of the form G=1+K, with K in p-Schatten class. The connected components of this restricted Grassmannian are characterized by means of of the Fredholm index of pairs of projections. Finsler metrics which are isometric for the group actions are introduced for both compatible Grassmannians, and minimality results for curves are proved.
The first part of this paper is devoted to the theory of Poisson-Lie groups in the Banach setting. Our starting point is the straightforward adaptation of the notion of Manin triples to the Banach context. The difference with the finite-dimensional case lies in the fact that a duality pairing between two non-reflexive Banach spaces is necessary weak (as opposed to a strong pairing where one Banach space can be identified with the dual space of the other). The notion of generalized Banach Poisson manifolds introduced in this paper is compatible with weak duality pairings between the tangent spa…
Let $\mathsf{H}$ be a separable Hilbert space. We prove that the Grassmannian $\mathsf{P}_c(\mathsf{H})$ of the finite dimensional subspaces of $\mathsf{H}$ is an Alexandrov space of nonnegative curvature and we employ its metric geometry to develop the theory of optimal transport for the normal states of the von Neumann algebra of linear and bounded operators $\mathsf{B}(\mathsf{H})$. Seeing density matrices as discrete probability measures on $\mathsf{P}_c(\mathsf{H})$ (via the spectral theorem) we define an optimal transport cost and the Wasserstein distance for normal states. In particular…
We study the relationship between exact interpolation spaces for positive, linear operators, for order preserving, Lipschitz continuous operators, and for positive Gagliardo-Peetre operators, and exact partially $K$-monotone spaces in interpolation couples of compatible Banach lattices. By general Banach lattice theory we recover a characterisation of exact interpolation spaces for order preserving, Lipschitz continuous operators in the couple $(L^1,L^\infty )$ due to Bénilan and Crandall.
We consider the standard quantum logic ${\mathcal L}(H)$ associated to a complex Hilbert space $H$, i.e. the lattice of closed subspaces of $H$ together with the orthogonal complementation. The orthogonality and compatibility relations are defined for any logic. In the standard quantum logic, they have a simple interpretation in terms of operator theory. For example, two closed subspaces (propositions in the logic ${\mathcal L}(H)$) are compatible if and only if the projections on these subspaces commute. We present both classical and more resent results on transformations of ${\mathcal L}(H)$…
We study bounded actions of groups and semigroups $G$ on exact sequences of Banach spaces from the point of view of quasilinear maps, characterize the actions on the twisted sum space by commutator estimates and introduce the associated notions of $G$-centralizer and $G$-equivariant map. We will show that when (A) $G$ is an amenable group and (U) the target space is complemented in its bidual by a $G$-equivariant projection, then uniformly bounded compatible families of operators generate bounded actions on the twisted sum space; that compatible quasilinear maps are linear perturbations of $G$…
In the paper `On the Dirac-Frenkel Variational Principle on Tensor Banach Spaces', we provided a geometrical description of manifolds of tensors in Tucker format with fixed multilinear (or Tucker) rank in tensor Banach spaces, that allowed to extend the Dirac-Frenkel variational principle in the framework of topological tensor spaces. The purpose of this note is to extend these results to more general tensor formats. More precisely, we provide a new geometrical description of manifolds of tensors in tree-based (or hierarchical) format, also known as tree tensor networks, which are intersection…
Global folds between Banach spaces are obtained from a simple geometric construction: a Fredholm operator $T$ of index zero with one dimensional kernel is perturbed by a compatible nonlinear term $P$. The scheme encapsulates most of the known examples and suggests new ones. Concrete examples rely on the positivity of an eigenfunction. For the standard Nemitskii case $P(u) = f(u)$ (but $P$ might be nonlocal, non-variational), $T$ might be the Laplacian with different boundary conditions, as in the Ambrosetti-Prodi theorem, or the Schrödinger operators associated with the quantum harmonic oscill…
For a locally compact group $G$ and a compact subgroup $H$, we show that the Banach space $M(G/H)$ may be considered as a quotient space of $M(G)$. Also, we define a convolution on $M(G/H)$ which makes it into a Banach algebra. It may be identified with a closed subalgebra of the involutive Banach algebra $M(G)$, and there is no involution on $M(G/H)$ compatible with this identification unless $H$ is a normal subgroup of $G$. In other words, $M(G/H)$ is a $*$-Banach subalgebra of $M(G)$ only if $H$ is a normal subgroup of $G$. As well, it is a unital Banach algebra just when $H$ is a normal su…
In classical analysis, the relationship between continuity and Riemann integrability is an intimate one: a continuous function on a closed and bounded interval is always Riemann integrable whereas a Riemann integrable function is continuous almost everywhere. In the setting of functions taking values in infinite dimensional spaces that include quasi Banach spaces, one encounters certain curious situations involving the breakdown of the above stated phenomena, besides the failure of the fundamental theorem of calculus and the non-existence of primitives for continuous functions! While some of t…
Schur's test states that if $K:X\times Y\to\mathbb{C}$ satisfies $\int_Y |K(x,y)|dν(y)\leq C$ and $\int_X |K(x,y)|dμ(x)\leq C$, then the associated integral operator acts boundedly on $L^p$ for all $p\in [1,\infty]$. We derive a variant of this result ensuring boundedness on the (weighted) mixed-norm Lebesgue spaces $L_w^{p,q}$ for all $p,q\in [1,\infty]$. For non-negative integral kernels our criterion is sharp; i.e., it is satisfied if and only if the integral operator acts boundedly on all of the mixed-norm Lebesgue spaces. Motivated by this criterion, we introduce solid Banach modules $\ma…
We study the relation between module and Hochschild cohomology groups of Banach algebras with a compatible module structure. More precisely, we show that for every commutative Banach $ \mathcal{A} $-$ \mathfrak{A}$-bimodule $ X $ and every $ k \in \mathbb{N}$, the seminormed spaces $ \mathcal{H}^{k}_{\mathfrak{A}} (\mathcal{A},X^*)$ and $ \mathcal{H}^k (\frac{\mathcal{A}}{J}, X^*) $ are isomorphic, where $ J $ is the closed ideal of $ \mathcal{A} $ generated by the elements of the form $ a (α\cdot b)-(a\cdot α)b$ with $ a,b \in \mathcal{A} $ and $α\in \mathfrak{A}. $ As an example, we calculat…
Let $\vec{X}=(X_0, X_1)$ be a compatible couple of Banach spaces, $ 1\le p \le \infty$ and let $ φ$ be positive quasi-concave function. Denote by $\overline{X}_{φ,p}=(X_0,X_1)_{φ,p}$ the real interpolation spaces defined by S. Janson (1981). We give necessary and sufficient conditions on $ φ_{0}$, $φ_{1}$ and $φ$ for the validity of \begin{equation*} \left(\overline{X}_{φ_{0},1},\overline{X}_{φ_{1},1} \right) _{φ,p}= \left(\overline{X}_{φ_{0},\infty},\overline{X}_{φ_{1},\infty}\right)_{φ,p} \end{equation*} for all $ 1\le p\le \infty$, and all Banach couples $\overline{X}. $
Let $\mathcal{E}$ be a Banach space contained in a Hilbert space $\mathcal{L}$. Assume that the inclusion is continuous with dense range. Following the terminology of Gohberg and Zambicki\vı, we say that a bounded operator on $\mathcal{E}$ is a proper operator if it admits an adjoint with respect to the inner product of $\mathcal{L}$. By a proper subspace $\mathcal{S}$ we mean a closed subspace of $\mathcal{E}$ which is the range of a proper projection. If there exists a proper projection which is also self-adjoint with respect to the inner product of $\mathcal{L}$, then $\mathcal{S}$ belongs …

We construct a new bounded functional calculus for the generators of bounded semigroups on Hilbert spaces and generators of bounded holomorphic semigroups on Banach spaces. The calculus is a natural (and strict) extension of the classical Hille-Phillips functional calculus, and it is compatible with the other well-known functional calculi. It satisfies the standard properties of functional calculi, provides a unified and direct approach to a number of norm-estimates in the literature, and allows improvements of some of them.
Motivated by the definition of a semigroup compactification of a locally compact group and a large collection of examples, we introduce the notion of an (operator) "homogeneous left dual Banach algebra" (HLDBA) over a (completely contractive) Banach algebra $A$. We prove a Gelfand-type representation theorem showing that every HLDBA over $A$ has a concrete realization as an (operator) homogeneous left Arens product algebra: the dual of a subspace of $A^*$ with a compatible (matrix) norm and a type of left Arens product ${\scriptscriptstyle \square}$. Examples include all left Arens product alg…
In this work, we investigate measurement incompatibility in general probabilistic theories (GPTs). We show several equivalent characterizations of compatible measurements. The first is in terms of the positivity of associated maps. The second relates compatibility to the inclusion of certain generalized spectrahedra. For this, we extend the theory of free spectrahedra to ordered vector spaces. The third characterization connects the compatibility of dichotomic measurements to the ratio of tensor crossnorms of Banach spaces. We use these characterizations to study the amount of incompatibility …
We construct two bounded functional calculi for sectorial operators on Banach spaces, which enhance the functional calculus for analytic Besov functions, by extending the class of functions, generalizing and sharpening estimates, and adapting the calculus to the angle of sectoriality. The calculi are based on appropriate reproducing formulas, they are compatible with standard functional calculi and they admit appropriate convergence lemmas and spectral mapping theorems. To achieve this, we develop the theory of associated function spaces in ways which are interesting and significant. As conseq…

We prove novel results on interpolation of Fredholm operators including an abstract factorization theorem. The main result of this paper provides sufficient conditions on the parameters $θ\in (0,1)$ and $q\in \lbrack 1,\infty ]$ under which an operator $A$ is a Fredholm operator from the real interpolation space $(X_{0},X_{1})_{θ,q}$ to $(Y_{0},Y_{1})_{θ,q} $ for a given operator $A\colon (X_{0},X_{1})\rightarrow (Y_{0},Y_{1})$ between compatible pairs of Banach spaces such that its restrictions to the endpoint spaces are Fredholm operators. These conditions are expressed in terms of the corre…
Two themes drive this article: identifying the structure necessary to formulate quaternionic operator theory and revealing the relation between complex and quaternionic operator theory. The theory of quaternionic right linear operators is usually formulated assuming the existenc of both a right- and a left-multiplication on the Banach space $V$, as the space of bounded operators on $V$ is otherwise not a quaternionic linear space. A right linear operator is however only associated with the right-multiplication and in certain settings, e.g. on Hilbert spaces, the left-multiplication is not defi…
