Let T be a homogeneous tree and L the Laplace operator on T. We consider the semilinear Schrodinger equation associated to L with a power-like nonlinearity F of degree d. We first obtain dispersive estimates and Strichartz estimates with no admissibility conditions. We next deduce global well-posedness for small L2 data with no gauge invariance assumption on the nonlinearity F. On the other hand if F is gauge invariant, L2 conservation leads to global well-posedness for arbitrary L2 data. Notice that, in contrast with the Euclidean case, these global well-posedness results hold with no restriction on d > 1. We finally prove scattering for small L2 data, with no gauge invariance assumption.
We prove a microlocal smoothing effect of Schrödinger equations on manifolds. We employ radially homogeneous wavefront sets introduced by Ito and Nakamura (Amer. J. Math., 2009). In terms of radially homogeneous wavefront sets, we can apply our theory to both of asymptotically conical and hyperbolic manifolds. We relate wavefront sets in initial states to radially homogeneous wavefront sets in states after a time development. We also prove a relation between radially homogeneous wavefront sets and homogeneous wavefront sets and prove a special case of Nakamura (2005).
In this paper we consider the linear Schrodinger equation (LSE) on a regular tree with the last generation of edges of infinite length and analyze some unique continuation properties. The first part of the paper deals with the LSE on the real line with a piece-wise constant coefficient and uses this result in the context of regular trees. The second part treats the case of a LSE with a real potential in the framework of a star-shaped graph.
We study the scattering theory for the Schrödinger and wave equations with rough potentials in a scale of homogeneous Sobolev spaces. The first half of the paper concerns with an inverse-square potential in both of subcritical and critical constant cases, which is a particular model of scaling-critical singular perturbations. In the subcritical case, the existence of the wave and inverse wave operators defined on a range of homogeneous Sobolev spaces is obtained. In particular, we have the scattering to a free solution in the homogeneous energy space for both of the Schrödinger and wave equati…
We prove dispersive estimates for two models~: the adjacency matrix on a discrete regular tree, and the Schrödinger equation on a metric regular tree with the same potential on each edge/vertex. The latter model can be thought of as an extension of the case of periodic Schrödinger operators on the real line. We establish a $t^{-3/2}$-decay for both models which is sharp, as we give the first-order asymptotics.
This paper is concerned with the upper bound of the lifespan of solutions to nonlinear Schrödinger equations with general homogeneous nonlinearity of the critical order. In [8], Masaki and the first author obtain the upper bound of the lifespan of solutions to our equation via a test function method introduced by [16, 17]. Their nonlinearity contains a non-oscillating term $|u|^{1+2/d}$ which causes difficultly for constructing an even small data global solution. The non-oscillating term corresponds to the $L^1$-scaling critical. In this paper, it turns out that the upper bound can be refined …
In this paper we discuss the relation between non-homogeneous nonlinear fractional diffusive equations and the Schrodinger equation with time-dependent harmonic potential. It is well known that the Cole-Hopf transformation allows to linearize non-homogeneous nonlinear diffusive equations (NHNDEs) into a Schrodinger-type equation with time-dependent potential. We first discuss the utility of the results about time-dependent harmonic oscillator to build explicit solution of such non-homogeneous nonlinear partial differential equations. In particular, we recall that starting from a trial polynomi…
We consider a family of measures on a $q$-homogeneous tree that decrease exponentially with respect to the distance from the origin. Such measures are doubling with respect to the Gromov distance. We define atomic Hardy and BMO spaces for that measures, and we prove interpolation results regarding such spaces. As a consequence we have boundedness results for integral operators involving Hardy, BMO, and $L^p$ spaces.
In this paper we consider the initial boundary value problem (IBVP) for the nonlinear biharmonic Schrödinger equation posed on a bounded interval $(0,L)$ with non-homogeneous Navier or Dirichlet boundary conditions, respectively. For Navier boundary IBVP, we set up its local well-posedness if the initial data lies in $H^s(0, L)$ with $s\geq 0$ and $s\neq n+1/2, n\in \mathbb{N}$, and the boundary data are selected from the appropriate spaces with optimal regularities, i.e., the $j$-th order data are chosen in $H_{loc}^{(s+3-j)/4}(\mathbb {R}^+)$, for $j=0,2$. For Dirichlet boundary IBVP the cor…
We study the standing waves for a fourth-order Schrödinger equation with mixed dispersion that minimize the associated energy when the $L^2-$norm (the \textit{mass}) } is kept fixed. We need some non-homogeneous Gagliardo-Nirenberg-type inequalities and we develop a method to prove such estimates that should be useful elsewhere. We prove optimal results on the existence of minimizers in the {\it mass-subcritical } and {\it mass-critical } cases. In the { \it mass supercritical} case we show that global minimizers do not exist, and we investigate the existence of local minimizers. If the mass d…
We study Hardy-type inequalities on infinite homogeneous trees. More precisely, we derive optimal Hardy weights for the combinatorial Laplacian in this setting and we obtain, as a consequence, optimal improvements for the Poincaré inequality.
We study an abstract equation in a reflexive Banach space, depending on a real parameter $λ$. The equation is composed by homogeneous potential operators. By analyzing the Nehari sets, we prove a bifurcation result. In some particular cases we describe the full bifurcation diagram, and in general, we estimate the parameter $λ_b$ for which the problem does not have non-zero solution when $λ>λ_b$. We give many applications to partial differential equations: Kirchhoff type equations, Schrödinger equations coupled with the electromagnetic field, Chern-Simons-Schrödinger systems and a nonlinear eig…
We consider an epidemic model of SIR type set on a homogeneous tree and investigate the spreading properties of the epidemic as a function of the degree of the tree, the intrinsic basic reproduction number and the strength of the interactions within the population of infected individuals. When the degree is one, the homogeneous tree is nothing but the standard lattice on the integers and our model reduces to a SIR model with discrete diffusion for which the spreading properties are very similar to the continuous case. On the other hand, when the degree is larger than two, we observe some new f…
The initial value problem for the homogeneous Schrödinger equation is investigated for radially symmetric initial data with slow decay rates and not too wild oscillations. Our global wellposedness results apply to initial data for which Strichartz estimates fail.
Strichartz estimates for a time-decaying harmonic oscillator were proven with some assumptions of coefficients for the time-decaying harmonic potentials. The main results of this paper are to remove these assumptions and to enable us to deal with the more general coefficient functions. Moreover, we also prove similar estimates for time-decaying homogeneous magnetic fields.
We study the equation $-Δ_g w+w=λα(σ) f(w)$ on a $d$-dimensional homogeneous Cartan-Hadamard Manifold $\mathcal{M}$ with $d \geq 3$. Without using the theory of topological indices, we prove the existence of infinitely many solutions for a class of nonlinearities $f$ which have an oscillating behavior either at zero or at infinity.
In this article we consider direct and inverse problems for $α$-stable, elliptic nonlocal operators whose kernels are possibly only supported on cones and which satisfy the structural condition of \emph{directional antilocality} as introduced in \cite{I86}. We consider the Dirichlet problem for these operators on the "domain of dependence of the operator" and in several, adapted function spaces. This formulation allows one to avoid natural "gauges" which would else have to be considered in the study of the associated inverse problems. Exploiting the directional antilocality of these operators …
A semilinear ordinary differential equation is derived from a semilinear Schrödinger equation in the homogeneous and isotropic spacetime by the Ehrenfest theorem. The Cauchy problem for the equation is considered. Exact solutions and nonexistence of global weak solutions of the equation are also considered in the de Sitter spacetime. The effects of spatial expansion and contraction are studied.
For Schrödinger equations with a class of slowly decaying repulsive potentials, we show that the solution satisfies global-in-time Strichartz estimates for any admissible pairs. Our admissible class of potentials includes the positive homogeneous potential $Z|x|^{-μ}$ with $Z>0$ and $0<μ<2$ in three and higher dimensions, especially the repulsive Coulomb potential. The proof employs several techniques from scattering theory such as the long time parametrix construction of Isozaki-Kitada type, propagation estimates and local decay estimates.
