In this note we extend some new estimates of the integral $\int_a^b (x-a)^p(b-x)^qf(x)dx$ for functions when a power of the absolute value is $P-$convex.
In this article, we employ a standard convex argument to obtain new and refined inequalities related to the matrix mean of two accretive matrices, the numerical radius and the Tsallis relative operator entropy.
We offer a new proof of uniform convexity inequalities for the Finsler manifold of nonpositive curvature taken on the space of positive-semidefinite matrices with the weighted matrix geometric mean defining the geodesic between two points. Using the technique of log majorization, we are able to characterize that the equality cases of said equalities occur if and only if the matrices commute, and hence are the same as in $\ell^p$.
A fundamental paper of Elliott Lieb from 1973 has been the basis for much beautiful work on matrix inequalities by many people over the following years. We review a well-connected set of these developments. Some new proofs are provided.
We give the Choi-Davis-Jensen type inequality without using convexity. Applying our main results, we also give new inequalities improving previous known results. In particular, we show some inequalities for relative operator entropies and quantum mechanical entropies.
Employing the notion of operator log-convexity, we study joint concavity$/$ convexity of multivariable operator functions: $(A,B)\mapsto F(A,B)=h\left[ Φ(f(A))\ σ Ψ(g(B))\right]$, where $Φ$ and $Ψ$ are positive linear maps and $σ$ is an operator mean. As applications, we prove jointly concavity$/$convexity of matrix trace functions $\Tr\left\{ F(A,B)\right\}$. Moreover, considering positive multi-linear mappings in $F(A,B)$, our study of the joint concavity$/$ convexity of $(A_1,\cdots,A_k)\mapsto h\left[ Φ(f(A_1),\cdots,f(A_k))\right]$ provides some generalizations and complement to results o…
In the present paper, we provide several inequalities for the generalized numerical radius of operator matrices as introduced by A. Abu-omar and F. Kittaneh in [3]. We generalize the convexity and the log-convexity results obtained by M. Sababheh in [12] for the case of the numerical radius to the case of the generalized numerical radius. We illustrate our work by providing a positive answer for the question addressed in [12] for the convexity of a certain matrix operator function. Moreover, and motivated by the results of A. Aldalabih and F. Kittaneh in [2] for the case of Hilbert-Schmidt num…
Convex functions have played a major role in the field of Mathematical inequalities. In this paper, we introduce a new concept related to convexity, which proves better estimates when the function is somehow more convex than another. In particular, we define what we called $g-$convexity as a generalization of $\log-$convexity. Then we prove that $g-$convex functions have better estimates in certain known inequalities like the Hermite-Hadard inequality, super additivity of convex functions, the Majorization inequality and some means inequalities. Strongly related to this, we define the index of…
The quaternionic numerical range of matrices over the ring of quaternions is not necessarily convex. We prove Toeplitz-Hausdorff like theorem, that is, for any given quaternionic matrix every section of its quaternionic numerical range is convex. We provide some additional equivalent conditions for the quaternionic numerical range of matrices over quaternions to be convex and prove some numerical radius inequalities.
In this article, we define a new class of convexity called generalized $(h-m)$-convexity, which generalizes $h$-convexity and $m$-convexity on fractal sets $\mathbb{R}^α$ $(0<α\leq 1)$. Some properties of this new class are discussed. Using local fractional integrals and generalized $(h-m)$-convexity, we generalized Hermite-Hadamard (H-H) and Fejér-Hermite-Hadamard (Fejér-H-H) types inequalities. We also obtained a new result of the Fejér-H-H type for the function whose derivative in absolute value is the generalized $(h-m)$-convexity on fractal sets. Some applications to random variables and …
In this paper, we introduce the notion of conditional $h$-convex functions and we prove an operator version of the Jensen inequality for conditional $h$-convex functions. Using this type of functions, we give some refinements for Ky-Fan's inequality, arithmetic-geometric mean inequality, Chrystal inequality, and H$\ddot{o}$lder-McCarthy inequality. Many of the other inequalities can be refined by applying this new notion.
Motivated by some recently established operator Jensen-type inequalities related to a usual convexity, in the present paper we derive several more accurate operator Jensen-type inequalities for certain subclasses of convex functions. More precisely, we obtain interpolating series of Jensen-type inequalities for log-convex and non-negative superquadratic functions. In particular, we obtain the corresponding refinements of the Jensen-Mercer operator inequality for such classes of functions.
It is known that the volume functional $\,ϕ\mapsto\int e^{-ϕ}\,$ satisfies certain concavity or convexity inequalities with respect to three of the four linear structures induced by the order isomorphisms acting on ${\rm{Cvx}}_0({\mathbb R}^n)$. In this note we define the fourth linear structure on ${\rm{Cvx}}_0({\mathbb R}^n)$ as the pullback of the standard linear structure under the ${\cal J}$ transform. We show that, interpolating with respect to this linear structure, no concavity or convexity inequalities hold, and prove that a quasi-convexity inequality is violated only by up to a facto…
Many trace inequalities can be expressed either as concavity/convexity theorems or as monotonicity theorems. A classic example is the joint convexity of the quantum relative entropy which is equivalent to the Data Processing Inequality. The latter says that quantum operations can never increase the relative entropy. The monotonicity versions often have many advantages, and often have direct physical application, as in the example just mentioned. Moreover, the monotonicity results are often valid for a larger class of maps than, say, quantum operations (which are completely positive). In this p…
