In this work we carry out a noncommutative analysis of several Friedmann-Robert-Walker models, coupled to different types of perfect fluids and in the presence of a cosmological constant. The classical field equations are modified, by the introduction of a shift operator, in order to introduce noncommutativity in these models. We notice that the noncommutative versions of these models show several relevant differences with respect to the correspondent commutative ones.
We study the dynamics of the noncommutative fuid in the Snyder space perturbatively at the first order in powers of the noncommutative parameter. The linearized noncommutative fluid dynamics is described by a system of coupled linear partial differential equations in which the variables are the fluid density and the fluid potentials. We show that these equations admit a set of solutions that are monocromatic plane waves for the fluid density and two of the potentials and a linear function for the third potential. The energy-momentum tensor of the plane waves is calculated.
We review the connection between noncommutative gauge theory, matrix models and fluid mechanical systems. The noncommutative Chern-Simons description of the quantum Hall effect and bosonization of collective fermion states are used as specific examples.
The paper discusses back reaction effects in cosmology, (á la Buchert et. al.), induced by noncommutative geometry effects in fluid. We have used generalizations of an action formulation of noncommutative fluid model, proposed earlier by us. We show that the noncommutative effects, depending on its nature, can play either roles of (kinematical) dark matter or Cosmological Constant.
In this paper, we propose a first order action functional for a large class of systems that generalize the relativistic perfect fluids in the Kähler parametrization to noncommutative spacetimes. We calculate the equations of motion for the fluid potentials and the energy-momentum tensor in the first order in the noncommutative parameter. The density current does not receive any noncommutative corrections and it is conserved under the action of the commutative generators $P_μ$ but the energy-momentum tensor is not. Therefore, we determine the set of constraints under which the energy-momentum t…
In this paper, we construct for the first time the non-commutative fluid with the deformed Poincare invariance. To this end, the realization formalism of the noncommutative spaces is employed and the results are particularized to the Snyder space. The non-commutative fluid generalizes the fluid model in the action functional formulation to the noncommutative space. The fluid equations of motion and the conserved energy-momentum tensor are obtained.
A model for an expanding noncommutative acoustic fluid analogous to a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker geometry is derived. For this purpose, a noncommutative Abelian Higgs model is considered in a (3+1)-dimensional spacetime. In this scenario, we analyze the motion of test particles in this fluid. The study considers a scalar test particle coupled to a quantized fluctuating massless scalar field. For all cases studied, we find corrections due to the noncommutativity in the mean squared velocity of the particles. The nonzero velocity dispersion for particles that are free to move on geodesics disagr…
We evaluate the ground state degeneracy of noncommutative Chern-Simons models on the two-torus, a quantity that is interpreted as the "topological order" of associated phases of Hall fluids. We define the noncommutative theory via T-duality from an ordinary Chern-Simons model with non-abelian 't Hooft magnetic fluxes. Motivated by this T-duality, we propose a discrete family of noncommutative, non-abelian fluid models, arising as a natural generalization of the standard noncommutative Chern-Simons effective models. We compute the topological order for these universality classes, and comment on…
We describe the linear cosmological perturbations of a perfect fluid at the level of an action, providing thus an alternative to the standard approach based only on the equations of motion. This action is suited not only to perfect fluids with a barotropic equation of state, but also to those for which the pressure depends on two thermodynamical variables. By quantizing the system we find that (1) some perturbation fields exhibit a noncommutativity quite analogous to the one observed for a charged particle moving in a strong magnetic field, (2) local curvature and pressure perturbations cannot…
We propose a new approach in Lagrangian formalism for studying the fluid dynamics on noncommutative space. Starting with the Poisson bracket for single particle, a map from canonical Lagrangian variables to Eulerian variables is constructed for taking into account of the noncommutative effects. The advantage of this approach is that the kinematic and potential energies in the Lagrangian formalism continuously change in the infinite limit to the ones in Eulerian formalism, and hence make sure that both the kinematical and potential energies are taken into account correctly. Furthermore, in our …
We study the spectrum of density fluctuations of Fractional Hall Fluids in the context of the noncommutative hidrodynamical model of Susskind. We show that, within the weak-field expansion, the leading correction to the noncommutative Chern--Simons Lagrangian (a Maxwell term in the effective action,) destroys the incompressibility of the Hall fluid due to strong UV/IR effects at one loop. We speculate on possible relations of this instability with the transition to the Wigner crystal, and conclude that calculations within the weak-field expansion must be carried out with an explicit ultraviole…
Time evolution of modes of density contrast, in particular the growing modes, dictate the structure formation in Universe. In this paper we explicitly show how (spatial) Non-Commutativity (NC) can affect the behavior of the modes, that is we compute NC corrected power law profiles of the density contrast modes. We develop a generalized fluid model that lives in NC space. The dynamical equations of fluid, namely the continuity and Euler equations receive NC contributions. When mapped to comoving coordinates these generate the NC extended versions of continuity and Friedmann equations for cosmol…
We study the stretched membrane of a black hole as consisting of a perfect fluid. We find that the pressure of this fluid is negative and the specific heat is negative too. A surprising result is that if we are to assume the fluid be composed of some quanta, then the dispersion relation of the fundamental quantum is $E=m^2/k$, with $m$ at the scale of the Planck mass. There are two possible interpretation of this dispersion relation, one is the noncommutative spacetime on the stretched membrane, another is that the fundamental quantum is microscopic black holes.
In the present paper we have developed a Non-Commutative (NC) generalization of perfect fluid model from first principles, in a Hamiltonian framework. The noncommutativity is introduced at the Lagrangian (particle) coordinate space brackets and the induced NC fluid bracket algebra for the Eulerian (fluid) field variables is derived. Together with a Hamiltonian this NC algebra generates the generalized fluid dynamics that satisfies exact local conservation laws for mass and energy thereby maintaining mass and energy conservation. However, nontrivial NC correction terms appear in charge and ener…
A noncommutative extension of an ideal (Hamiltonian) fluid model in $3+1$-dimensions is proposed. The model enjoys several interesting features: it allows a multi-parameter central extension in Galilean boost algebra (which is significant being contrary to existing belief that similar feature can appear only in $2+1$-dim.); noncommutativity generates vorticity in a canonically irrotational fluid; it induces a non-barotropic pressure leading to a non-isentropic system. (Barotropic fluids are entropy preserving as pressure depends only on matter density.) Our fluid model is termed "Exotic" since…
We prove that shear-free perfect fluid solutions of Einstein's field equations must be either expansion-free or non-rotating (as conjectured by Treciokas and Ellis) for all linear equations of state $p = w ρ$ except for six values of $w$.
We develop a field theory description of non-dissipative string fluids and construct an explicit mapping between field theory degrees of freedom and hydrodynamic variables. The theory generalizes both a perfect particle fluid and pressureless string fluid to what we call a perfect string fluid. Ideal magnetohydrodynamics is shown to be an example of the perfect string fluid whose equations of motion can be obtained from a particular choice of the Lagrangian. The Lagrangian framework suggests a straightforward extension of the perfect string fluid to more general anisotropic fluids describing h…
We prove that in Robertson-Walker space-times (and in generalized Robertson-Walker spacetimes of dimension greater than 3 with divergence-free Weyl tensor) all higher-order gravitational corrections of the Hilbert-Einstein Lagrangian density $F(R,\square R, ... , \square^k R)$ have the form of perfect fluids in the field equations. This statement definitively allows to deal with dark energy fluids as curvature effects.
We investigate background metrics for 2+1-dimensional holographic theories where the equilibrium solution behaves as a perfect fluid, and admits thus a thermodynamic description. We introduce stationary perfect-Cotton geometries, where the Cotton--York tensor takes the form of the energy--momentum tensor of a perfect fluid, i.e. they are of Petrov type D_t. Fluids in equilibrium in such boundary geometries have non-trivial vorticity. The corresponding bulk can be exactly reconstructed to obtain 3+1-dimensional stationary black-hole solutions with no naked singularities for appropriate values o…
The variational theory of the perfect hypermomentum fluid is developed. The new type of the generalized Frenkel condition is considered. The Lagrangian density of such fluid is stated, and the equations of motion of the fluid and the Weyssenhoff-type evolution equation of the hypermomentum tensor are derived. The expressions of the matter currents of the fluid (the canonical energy-momentum 3-form, the metric stress-energy 4-form and the hypermomentum 3-form) are obtained. The Euler-type hydrodynamic equation of motion of the perfect hypermomentum fluid is derived. It is proved that the motion…
We show that an n-dimensional generalized Robertson-Walker (GRW) space-time with divergence-free conformal curvature tensor exhibits a perfect fluid stress-energy tensor for any f(R) gravity model. Furthermore we prove that a conformally flat GRW space-time is still a perfect fluid in both f(R) and quadratic gravity where other curvature invariants are considered.
We show the first simple, systematic and direct approach to decoupling gravitational sources in general relativity. As a direct application, a robust and simple way to generate anisotropic solutions for self-gravitating systems from perfect fluid solutions is presented.
We revisit the analogy between a minimally coupled scalar field in general relativity and a perfect fluid, correcting previous identifications of effective temperature and chemical potential. This provides a useful complementary picture for the first-order thermodynamics of scalar-tensor gravity, paving the way for the Einstein frame formulation (which eluded previous attempts) and raises interesting questions to further develop the analogy.
We review the canonical theory for perfect fluids, in Eulerian and Lagrangian formulations. The theory is related to a description of extended structures in higher dimensions. Internal symmetry and supersymmetry degrees of freedom are incorporated. Additional miscellaneous subjects that are covered include physical topics concerning quantization, as well as mathematical issues of volume preserving diffeomorphisms and representations of Chern-Simons terms (= vortex or magnetic helicity).
In this paper we consider the flat FRW cosmology with a scalar field coupled with the metric along with generalized Chaplygin gas and perfect fluid comprising the matter sector. We use the Schutz's formalism to deal with the generalized Chaplygin gas sector. The full theory is then quantized canonically using the Wheeler-DeWitt Hamiltonian formalism. We then solve the WD equation with appropriate boundary conditions. Then by defining a proper completeness relation for the self-adjointness of the WD equation we arrive at the wave packet for the universe. It is observed that the peak in the prob…
The Cauchy problem for metric-affine f(R)-gravity `a la Palatini and with torsion, in presence of perfect fluid matter acting as source, is discussed following the well-known Bruhat prescriptions for General Relativity. The problem results well-formulated and well-posed when the perfect-fluid form of the stress-energy tensor is preserved under conformal transformations. The key role of conservation laws in Jordan and in Einstein frame is also discussed.
For the description of the early inflation, and acceleration expansion of the Universe, compatible with observational data, the 5D noncompact Kaluza--Klein cosmology is investigated. It is proposed that the 5D space is filled with a null perfect fluid, resulting a perfect fluid in 4D universe, plus one along the fifth dimension. By analyzing the reduced field equations for flat FRW model, we show the early inflationary behavior and current acceleration of the universe.
Multidimensional cosmological models in the presence of a bare cosmological constant and a perfect fluid are investigated under dimensional reduction to 4-dimensional effective models. Stable compactification of the internal spaces is achieved for a special class of perfect fluids. The external space behaves in accordance with the standard Friedmann model. Necessary restrictions on the parameters of the models are found to ensure dynamical behavior of the external (our) universe in agreement with observations.
We consider a hydrodynamic approach in which a quantum system of interacting quarks and gluons is approximated classically by representing it as a perfect fluid having intrinsic degrees of freedom. Every particle of such fluid is endowed with spin and non-Abelian color charge. The variational theory of such perfect spin fluid with color charge is constructed, the spin-polarization chromomagnetic effects in an external Yang-Mills field and in Riemann-Cartan space with curvature and torsion being taken into account.
For perfect fluids with equation of state $ρ= ρ(n,s)$, Brown gave an action principle depending only on their Lagrange coordinates $α^i(x)$ without Clebsch potentials. After a reformulation on arbitrary spacelike hypersurfaces in Minkowski spacetime, the Wigner-covariant rest-frame instant form of these perfect fluids is given. Their Hamiltonian invariant mass can be given in closed form for the dust and the photon gas. The action for the coupling to tetrad gravity is given. Dixon's multipoles for the perfect fluids are studied on the rest-frame Wigner hyperplane. It is also shown that the sam…
New nondiagonal $G_{2}$ inhomogeneous cosmological solutions are presented in a wide range of scalar-tensor theories with a stiff perfect fluid as a matter source. The solutions have no big-bang singularity or any other curvature singularities. The dilaton field and the fluid energy density are everywhere regular, too. The geodesic completeness of the solutions is investigated.
In an $n$-dimensional Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric, it is rigorously shown that any analytical theory of gravity $f(R,{\cal G})$, where $R$ is the curvature scalar and $\cal G$ is the Gauss-Bonnet topological invariant, can be associated to a perfect-fluid stress-energy tensor. In this perspective, dark components of the cosmological Hubble flow can be geometrically interpreted.
Flat FRW perfect fluid cosmologies can be reproduced as particular solutions of suitable field theoretical models. Here we investigate the stability of perfect fluid model trajectories with respect to sets of trajectories of the corresponding field models having generic initial conditions. It is shown that the trajectories of barotropic perfect fluid models and those of the Chaplygin gas model are stable. The total probability to reach the Chaplygin gas regime early enough to achieve a matter dominated stage having a realistic duration is calculated for a scalar field model assuming a natural …
A main issue in cosmology and astrophysics is whether the dark sector phenomenology originates from particle physics, then requiring the detection of new fundamental components, or it can be addressed by modifying General Relativity. Extended Theories of Gravity are possible candidates aimed in framing dark energy and dark matter in a comprehensive geometric view. Considering the concept of perfect scalars, we show that the field equations of such theories naturally contain perfect fluid terms. Specific examples are developed for the Friedman-Lemaître-Roberson-Walker metric.
We discuss the gravitational wave background produced by bouncing models based on a full quantum evolution of a universe filled with a perfect fluid. Using an ontological interpretation for the background wave function allows us to solve the mode equations for the tensorial perturbations, and we find the spectral index as a function of the fluid equation of state.
We develop a new theory of perfect fluids with translation and rotation symmetry, which is also applicable in the absence of any type of boost symmetry. It involves introducing a new fluid variable, the kinetic mass density, which is needed to define the most general energy-momentum tensor for perfect fluids. Our theory leads to corrections to the Euler equations for perfect fluids that might be observable in hydrodynamic fluid experiments. We also derive new expressions for the speed of sound in perfect fluids. Our theory reduces to the known perfect fluid models when boost symmetry is presen…
Based on Haldane's spherical geometrical formalism of two-dimensional quantum Hall fluids, the relation between the noncommutative geometry of $S^2$ and the two-dimensional quantum Hall fluids is exhibited. If the number of particles $N$ is infinitely large, two-dimensional quantum Hall physics can be precisely described in terms of the noncommutative U(1) Chern-Simons theory proposed by Susskind, like in the case of plane. However, for the finite number of particles on two-sphere, the matrix-regularized version of noncommutative U(1) Chern-Simons theory involves in spinor oscillators. We esta…
We study the dynamics of strongly interacting gauge-theory matter (modelling quark-gluon plasma) in a boost-invariant setting using the AdS/CFT correspondence. Using Fefferman-Graham coordinates and with the help of holographic renormalization, we show that perfect fluid hydrodynamics emerges at large times as the unique nonsingular asymptotic solution of the nonlinear Einstein equations in the bulk. The gravity dual can be interpreted as a black hole moving off in the fifth dimension. Asymptotic solutions different from perfect fluid behaviour can be ruled out by the appearance of curvature s…
Certain solutions of a sextic sigma-model Lagrangian reminiscent of Skyrme model correspond to perfect fluids with stiff matter equation of state. We analyse from a differential geometric perspective this correspondence extended to general barotropic fluids.
We speculate that the quark matter produced at RHIC, behaves like a perfect fluid may be considered as Landau chromo-diamagnetic material in presence of color magnetic field. We have shown that in such a system the viscosity coefficient can be small enough and in the extreme case of ultra-strong color magnetic field strength, it behaves like a super fluid.
We show that for a range of strongly coupled theories with a first order phase transition, the domain wall or bubble velocity can be expressed in a simple way in terms of a perfect fluid hydrodynamic formula, and thus in terms of the equation of state. We test the predictions for the domain wall velocities using the gauge/gravity duality.
