In this paper, we continue to discuss normality based on a single\linebreak holomorphic function. We obtain the following result. Let $\CF$ be a family of functions holomorphic on a domain $D\subset\mathbb C$. Let $k\ge2$ be an integer and let $h(\not\equiv0)$ be a holomorphic function on $D$, such that $h(z)$ has no common zeros with any $f\in\CF$. Assume also that the following two conditions hold for every $f\in\CF$:\linebreak %{enumerate} [(a)] (a) $f(z)=0\Longrightarrow f'(z)=h(z)$ and %[(b)] (b) $f'(z)=h(z)\Longrightarrow|f^{(k)}(z)|\le c$, where $c$ is a constant. Then $\CF$ is normal on $D$. %{enumerate}
A geometrical approach is used to arrive at the result which significantly improves the previous results of the authors, \textit{A criterion of normality based on a single holomorphic function}, Acta Math. Sinica, English Series (1) \textbf{27} (2011), 141--154 and of Chang, Fang, and Zalcman, \textit{Normal families of holomorphic functions}, Illinois Math. J. (1) \textbf{48} (2004), 319--337.
We also deal with two other similar criterions of normality. Our results are shown to be sharp.
Normality criterion for a family of holomorphic curves that partially share wandering hyperplanes with their derivatives, and holomorphic functions lifted to curves in $P^2(\mathbb{C})$
We prove a Zalcman-Pang lemma in several complex variables and apply it to obtain several complex variables analogues of the known normality criteria like Lappan's five-point theorem and Schwick's theorem.
In this paper we prove a normality criterion for the families of meromorphic functions involving sharing of functions. Our result generalizes some of the earlier results on Gu's normality criterion.
Extension of classical Mandelbrojt's criterion for normality of a family of holomorphic zero-free functions of several complex variables is given. We show that a family of holomorphic functions of several complex variables whose corresponding Levi form are uniformly bounded away from zero is normal.
We prove an extension of one direction in Marty's theorem where the spherical derivative is replaced by a more general quantity involving higher derivatives.
In this paper we give a generalization and improvement of the Pavlović result on the characterization of continuously differentiable functions in the Bloch space on the unit ball in $\mathbb{R}^m$. Then we derive a Holland--Walsh type theorem for analytic normal mappings on the unit disk.
Let ${\cal F}$ be a family of meromorphic functions on a domain $D$. We present a quite general sufficient condition for ${\cal F}$ to be a normal family. This criterion contains many known results as special cases. The overall idea is that certain comparatively weak conditions on ${\cal F}$ locally lead to somewhat stronger conditions, which in turn lead to even stronger conditions on the limit function $g$ in the famous Zalcman Lemma. Ultimately, the defect relations for $g$ force normality of ${\cal F}$.
We show that the family of all holomorphic functions $f$ in a domain $D$ satisfying $$\frac{|f^{(k)}|}{1+|f|}(z)\le C \qquad \mbox{ for all } z\in D$$ (where $k$ is a natural number and $C>0$) is quasi-normal. Furthermore, we give a general counterexample to show that for $α>1$ and $k\ge2$ the condition $$\frac{|f^{(k)}|}{1+|f|^α}(z)\le C \qquad \mbox{ for all } z\in D$$ does not imply quasi-normality.
In this paper, we prove normality criteria for families of meromorphic functions involving sharing of a holomorphic function by a certain class of differential polynomials. Results in this paper extends the works of different authors carried out in recent years.
In this paper, we prove some normality criteria concerning transitivity of normality from one family of meromorphic functions to another which improve and generalize some recent results. We also prove some value distribution results for certain differential polynomials which lead to some normality criteria involving sharing of holomorphic functions with certain differential polynomials. As a consequence, a counterexample to the converse of the Bloch's principle is also given.
In this paper, we give an explicit criterion when a rational holomorphic map between balls is equivalent to a polynomial holomorphic map. Making use of this criterion, we show that any proper rational holomorphic map from B^2 into B^N of degree two is equivalent to a polynomial holomorphic map; we also construct rational holomorphic maps of degree 3 that are almost linear but are not equivalent to polynomial holomorphic maps.
In this paper we continue our earlier investigations on normal families of meromorphic functions\cite{CS2}. Here, we prove some value distribution results which lead to some normality criteria for a family of meromorphic functions involving the sharing of a holomorphic function by more general differential polynomials generated by members of the family and get some recently known results extended and improved. In particular, the main result of this paper leads to a counterexample to the converse of Bloch's principle.
We deal with a problem of the explicit reconstruction of any holomorphic function $f$ on $\mathbb{C}^2$ from its restricions on a union of complex lines. The validity of such a reconstruction essentially depends on the mutual repartition of these lines, condition that can be analytically described. The motivation of this problem comes also from possible applications in mathematical economics and medical imaging.
In this paper, we first generalize a value distribution result of Lahiri and Dewan [4] and as an application of this result we prove a normality criterion using partial sharing of small functions. Further, in sequel normality criteria of Hu and Meng [3] and Ding, Ding and Yuan [1] are improved and generalized when the domain $D:=\{z:|z|<R,0<R\leq\infty\}$.
This paper is motivated by Brolin's theorem. The phenomenon we wish to demonstrate is as follows: if $F$ is a holomorphic correspondence on $\mathbb{P}^1$, then (under certain conditions) $F$ admits a measure $μ_F$ such that, for any point $z$ drawn from a "large" open subset of $\mathbb{P}^1$, $μ_F$ is the weak*-limit of the normalised sums of point masses carried by the pre-images of $z$ under the iterates of $F$. Let ${}^\dagger{F}$ denote the transpose of $F$. Under the condition $d_{top}(F) > d_{top}({}^\dagger{F})$, where $d_{top}$ denotes the topological degree, the above phenomemon was…
In this paper, we prove two normality criteria for a family of meromorphic functions. The first criterion extends a result of Fang and Zalcman[Normal families and shared values of meromorphic functions II, Comput. Methods Funct. Theory, 1(2001), 289 - 299] to a bigger class of differential polynomials whereas the second one leads to some counterexamples to the converse of the Bloch's principle.
Let $D$ be a proper domain in the extended complex plane ${\mathbb C}_{\infty}:={\mathbb C}\cup \{\infty\}$, $M=M_+-M_-\not\equiv \pm \infty$ be a difference of non-trivial subharmonic functions $M_{\pm}\not\equiv \mp \infty$ on $D$, $\text{Hol}(D,M)$ be the class of holomorphic function $f$ on $D$ satisfying $|f|\leq \text{const}_f\exp M$ om $D$, ${\sf Z}\subset D$ be a sequence of points in $D$ without limits points in $D$. We give a complete description of the conditions under which the sequence $\sf Z$ is a sequence of all zeros for some nonzero function $f\in \text{Hol}(D,M)$.
In the present paper, we introduced the extended bicomplex plane $\bar{\mathbb{T}}$, its geometric model: the bicomplex Riemann sphere, and the bicomplex chordal metric that enables us to talk about the convergence of the sequences of bicomplex meromorphic functions. Hence the concept of the normality of a family of bicomplex meromorphic functions on bicomplex domains emerges. Besides obtaining a normality criterion for such families, the bicomplex analog of the Montel theorem for meromorphic functions and the Fundamental Normality Tests for families of bicomplex holomorphic functions and bico…
Let $K\backslash G$ be an irreducible Hermitian symmetric space of noncompact type and $Γ\,\subset\, G$ a closed torsionfree discrete subgroup. Let $X$ be a compact Kähler manifold and $ρ\, :\, π_1(X, x_0)\,\longrightarrow\, Γ$ a homomorphism such that the adjoint action of $ρ(π_1(X, x_0))$ on $\text{Lie}(G)$ is completely reducible. A theorem of Corlette associates to $ρ$ a harmonic map $X\, \longrightarrow\, K\backslash G/Γ$. We give a criterion for this harmonic map to be holomorphic. We also give a criterion for it to be anti--holomorphic.
For a reduced pure dimensional complex space $X$, we show that if Barlet's recently introduced sheaf $α_X^1$ of holomorphic $1$-forms or the sheaf of germs of weakly holomorphic $1$-forms is locally free, then $X$ is smooth. Moreover, we discuss the connection to Barlet's well-known sheaf $ω_X^1$.
In this short paper, for any holomorphic submersion $π: X\rightarrow B$, we derive a criterion for $X$ to have Kähler structures. This criterion generalizes Blanchard's criterion for a special class of isotrivial holomorphic submersions. We use this criterion to answer a question of Harvey-Lawson in the case of fiber dimension one. As the main application, we prove that the existence of Hermitian-Symplectic structures on certain class of holomorphic submersions with Kähler fibers and Kähler bases implies that the total spaces are Kähler. This class includes isotrivial submersions and torus fib…
Let $X$ and $Y$ be compact connected complex manifolds of the same dimension with $b_2(X)= b_2(Y)$. We prove that any surjective holomorphic map of degree one from $X$ to $Y$ is a biholomorphism. A version of this was established by the first two authors, but under an extra assumption that $\dim H^1(X {\mathcal O}_X)\,=\,\dim H^1(Y {\mathcal O}_Y)$. We show that this condition is actually automatically satisfied.
We give a simple uniqueness criterion (and some derived criteria) for holomorphic Abel functions and show that Kneser's real analytic Abel function of the exponential is subject to this criterion.
In this paper, as an application of Zalcman's lemma in $\mathbb{C}^n$, we give a sufficient condition for normality of holomorphic functions of several complex variables, which generalizes previous known one-dimensional criterion of A.J. Lohwater and Ch. Pommerenke \cite[Theorem 1]{MR0338381}.
We show that a family ${\cal F}$ of meromorphic functions in a domain $D$ satisfying $$\frac{|f^{(k)}|}{1+|f^{(j)}|^α}(z)\ge C \qquad \mbox{for all} z\in D \mbox{and all} f\in {\cal F}$$ (where $k$ and $j$ are integers with $k>j\ge 0$ and $C>0$, $α>1$ are real numbers) is quasi-normal. Furthermore, if all functions in ${\cal F}$ are holomorphic, the order of quasi-normality of ${\cal F}$ is at most $j-1$. The proof relies on the Zalcman rescaling method and previous results on differential inequalities constituting normality.
Let $f$ be a transcendental meromorphic function defined in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$, and $φ(\not\equiv 0,\infty)$ be a small function of $f$. In this paper, We give a quantitative estimation of the characteristic function $T(r, f)$ in terms of $N\left(r,\frac{1}{M[f]-φ(z)}\right)$ as well as $\ol{N}\left(r,\frac{1}{M[f]-φ(z)}\right)$, where $M[f]$ is the differential monomial, generated by $f$.\par Moreover, we prove one normality criterion: Let $\mathscr{F}$ be a family of analytic functions on a domain $D$ and let $k(\geq1)$, $q_{0}(\geq 3)$, $q_{i}(\geq0)$ $(i=1,2,\ldots,k-1)$, $q_{k…
We establish a criterion for local boundedness and hence normality of a family $\F$ of analytic functions on a domain $D$ in the complex plane whose corresponding family of derivatives is locally bounded. Furthermore we investigate the relation between domains of normality of a family $\F$ of meromorphic functions and its corresponding Schwarzian derivative family. We also establish some criterion for the Schwarzian derivative family of a family $\F$ of analytic functions on a domain $D$ in the complex plane to be a normal family.
In [Israel J. Math, 2014], Grahl and Nevo obtained a significant improvement for the well-known normality criterion of Montel. They proved that for a family of meromorphic functions $\mathcal F$ in a domain $D\subset \mathbb C,$ and for a positive constant $ε$, if for each $f\in \mathcal F$ there exist meromorphic functions $a_f,b_f,c_f$ such that $f$ omits $a_f,b_f,c_f$ in $D$ and $$\min\{ρ(a_f(z),b_f(z)), ρ(b_f(z),c_f(z)), ρ(c_f(z),a_f(z))\}\geq ε,$$ for all $z\in D$, then $\mathcal F$ is normal in $D$. Here, $ρ$ is the spherical metric in $\widehat{\mathbb C}$. In this paper, we establish t…
Let H be the space of quaternions, with its standard hypercomplex structure. Let R(D) be the module of regular functions on D. For every unitary vector p in S^2, R(D) contains the space of holomorphic functions w.r.t. the complex structure J_p induced by p. We prove the existence, on any bounded domain D, of regular functions that are not J_p-holomorphic for any p. Our starting point is a result of Chen and Li concerning maps between hyperkaehler manifolds, where a similar result is obtained for a less restricted class of quaternionic maps. We give a criterion, based on the energy-minimizing p…
Building on the first two authors' previous results, we prove a general criterion for convergence of (possibly singular) Bergman measures towards equilibrium measures on complex manifolds. The criterion may be formulated in terms of growth properties of balls of holomorphic sections, or equivalently as an asymptotic minimization of generalized Donaldson L-functionals. Our result yields in particular the proof of a well-known conjecture in pluripotential theory concerning the equidistribution of Fekete points, and it also gives the convergence of Bergman measures towards equilibrium for Bernste…
A theorem of Weil and Atiyah says that a holomorphic vector bundle $E$ on a compact Riemann surface $X$ admits a holomorphic connection if and only if the degree of every direct summand of $E$ is zero. Fix a finite subset $S$ of $X$, and fix an endomorphism $A(x) \in \text{End}(E_x)$ for every $x \in S$. It is natural to ask when there is a logarithmic connection on $E$ singular over $S$ with residue $A(x)$ at every $x \in S$. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for it under the assumption that the residues $A(x)$ are rigid.
Let $D$ be a domain in the complex plane, $M$ be an extended real function on $D$. If $f$ is a non-zero holomorphic function on $D$ with an upper constraint $|f|\leq \exp M$ on this domain $D$, then it is natural to expect that there must be some upper constraints on the distribution of zeros of this holomorphic function exclusively in terms of the function $M$ and the geometry of the domain $D$. We have investigated this question in detail in our previous works in the case when $M$ is a subharmonic function and the domain $D$ is arbitrary or with a non-polar boundary. The answer was given in …
Let $f$ be a holomorphic mapping between compact complex manifolds. We give a criterion for $f$ to have {\it unobstructed deformations}, i.e. for the local moduli space of $f$ to be smooth: this says, roughly speaking, that the group of infinitesimal deformations of $f$, when viewed as a functor, itself satisfies a natural lifting property with respect to infinitesimal deformations. This lifting property is satisfied e.g. whenever the group in question admits a `topological' or Hodge-theoretic interpretation, and we give a number of examples, mainly involving Calabi-Yau manifolds, where that i…
We establish a criterion for the completeness of an exponential system in the spaces of functions continuous on a convex compact set and holomorphic in the interior of this compact set, as well as in the spaces of holomorphic functions in the convex domain in terms of the breadth of the compact set or the domain in the direction. The main results are formulated exclusively through the relations between the breadth in the direction, width or diameter of the compact set or domain on the one hand and the logarithmic submeasures or logarithmic block densities of the distribution of exponents of ex…
Let $B(Ω)$ be the Banach space of holomorphic functions on a bounded connected domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb C^n$, which contains the ring of polynomials on $Ω$. In this paper, we first establish a criterion for $B(Ω)$ to be reflexive via evaluation functions on $B(Ω)$, that is, $B(Ω)$ is reflexive if and only if the evaluation functions span the dual spaces $(B(Ω))^{*} $. Moreover, under suitable assumptions on $Ω$ and $B(Ω)$, we establish a characterization of the composition operator $C_φ$ to be a Fredholm operator on $B(Ω)$ via the property of the holomorphic self-map $φ:Ω\toΩ$. Our new approach …
