In this paper we study the properties of the finite topology on the dual of a module over an arbitrary ring. We aim to give conditions when certain properties of the field case are can be still found here. Investigating the correspondence between the closed submodules of the dual $M^{*}$ of a module $M$ and the submodules of $M$, we prove some characterisations of PF rings: the up stated correspondence is an anti isomorphism of lattices iff $R$ is a PF ring.
It is well-known that the Jacobson radical of a unital ring is its largest superfluous right ideal. It is recorded here that the result carries over to non-unital rings provided the notion of "superfluous" is taken relative to all regular ideals.
In this note we study the weak topology on paired modules over a (not necessarily commutative) ground ring. Over QF rings we are able to recover most of the well known properties of this topology in the case of commutative base fields. The properties of the linear weak topology and the dense pairings are then used to characterize pairings satisfying the so called $α$-condition.
We prove that a finite dimensional algebra is $τ$-tilting finite if and only if it does not admit large silting modules. Moreover, we show that for a $τ$-tilting finite algebra $A$ there is a bijection between isomorphism classes of basic support $τ$-tilting (that is, finite dimensional silting) modules and equivalence classes of ring epimorphisms $A\longrightarrow B$ with ${\rm Tor}_1^A(B,B)=0$. It follows that a finite dimensional algebra is $τ$-tilting finite if and only if there are only finitely many equivalence classes of such ring epimorphisms.
We investigate scalar restriction, scalar extension, and scalar coextension functors for graded modules, including their interplay with coarsening functors, graded tensor products, and graded Hom functors. This leads to several characterisations of epimorphisms of graded rings.
In this paper we give a characterisation of real closure * of regular rings, which is quite similar to the characterisation of real closure * of Baer regular rings seen in [4]. We also characterize Baer-ness of regular rings using near-open maps. The last part of this work will concentrate on classifying the real closure * of Baer and non-Baer regular rings (upto isomorphisms) using continuous sections of the support map, we construct a topology on this set for the Baer case. For the case of non-Baer regular rings, it will be shown that almost no information of the ring structure of the Baer h…
We show that a suitable ring with a ``nice'' topology, in which convergent limits of units are units, is an \aleph_0-exchange ring. We generalize the argument to show that a semi-regular ring, R, with a ``nice'' topology, is a full exchange ring. Putting these results in the language of modules, we show that a cohopfian module with finite exchange has countable exchange. Also, all modules with Dedekind-finite, semi-regular endomorphism rings are full exchange modules.
It is proved that if A_p is a countable elementary abelian p-group, then: (i) The ring End(A_p) does not admit a nondiscrete locally compact ring topology. (ii) Under (CH) the simple ring End(A_p)/I, where I is the ideal of End(A_p) consisting of all endomorphisms with finite images, does not admit a nondiscrete locally compact ring topology. (iii) The finite topology on End(A_p) is the only second metrizable ring topology on it. Moreover, a characterization of completely simple endomorphism rings of the endomorphism rings of modules over commutative rings is also obtained.
In this paper we introduce and investigate top (bi)comodules} of corings, that can be considered as dual to top (bi)modules of rings. The fully coprime spectra of such (bi)comodules attains a Zariski topology, defined in a way dual to that of defining the Zariski topology on the prime spectra of (commutative rings. We restrict our attention in this paper to duo (bi)comodules (satisfying suitable conditions) and study the interplay between the coalgebraic properties of such (bi)comodules and the introduced Zariski topology. In particular, we apply our results to introduce a Zariski topology on …
Several topologies can be defined on the prime, the maximal and the minimal prime spectra of a commutative ring; among them, we mention the Zariski topology, the patch topology and the flat topology. By using these topologies, Tarizadeh and Aghajani obtained recently new characterizations of various classes of rings: Gelfand rings, clean rings, absolutely flat rings, $mp$ - rings, etc. The aim of this paper is to generalize some of their results to quantales, structures that constitute a good abstractization for lattices of ideals, filters and congruences. We shall study the flat and the patch …
We give a characterization of those abelian groups which are direct sums of cyclic groups and the Jacobson radical of their endomorphism rings are closed. A complete characterization of $p$-groups $A$ for which $(EndA,\mathcal T_L)$ is locally compact, where $\mathcal T_L$ is the Liebert topology on $EndA$, is given. We prove that if $A$ is a countable elementary $p$-group then $EndA$ has a non-admissible ring topology. To every functorial topology on $A$ a right bounded ring topology on $EndA$ is attached. By using this topology we construct on $EndA$ a non-metrizable and non-admissibe ring t…
Here we continue to characterize a recently introduced notion, le-modules $_{R}M$ over a commutative ring $R$ with unity \cite{Bhuniya}. This article introduces and characterizes Zariski topology on the set $Spec(M)$ of all prime submodule elements of $M$. Thus we extend many results on Zariski topology for modules over a ring to le-modules. The topological space Spec(M) is connected if and only if $R/Ann(M)$ contains no idempotents other than $\overline{0}$ and $\overline{1}$. Open sets in the Zariski topology for the quotient ring $R/Ann(M)$ induces a base of quasi-compact open sets for the …
In previous work, the second author introduced a topology, for spaces of irreducible representations, that reduces to the classical Zariski topology over commutative rings but provides a proper refinement in various noncommutative settings. In this paper, a concise and elementary description of this refined Zariski topology is presented, under certain hypotheses, for the space of simple left modules over a ring R. Namely, if R is left noetherian (or satisfies the ascending chain condition for semiprimitive ideals), and if R is either a countable dimensional algebra (over a field) or a ring who…
Suppose $F$ is a field with a nontrivial valuation $v$ and valuation ring $O_{v}$, $E$ is a finite field extension and $w$ is a quasi-valuation on $E$ extending $v$. We study the topology induced by $w$. We prove that the quasi-valuation ring determines the topology, independent of the choice of its quasi-valuation. Moreover, we prove the weak approximation theorem for quasi-valuations.
We introduce the notion of numerical functors to generalise Eilenberg & MacLane's polynomial functors to modules over a binomial base ring. After shewing how these functors are encoded by modules over a certain ring, we record a precise criterion for a numerical (or polynomial) functor to admit a strict polynomial structure in the sense of Friedlander & Suslin. We also provide several characterisations of analytic functors.
We give a characterisation of those local not necessary commutative rings, for which the category of projective modules admits a triangulation with the identity as translation functor. By "admits a triangulation" we mean that the category can be given the structure of a triangulated category that satisfies the standard set of axioms including the octahedral axiom.
This is the second of two papers on the injective spectrum of a right noetherian ring. In the prequel, we considered the injective spectrum as a topological space associated to a ring (or, more generally, a Grothendieck category), which generalises the Zariski spectrum. We established some results about the topology and its links with Krull dimension, and computed a number of examples. In the present paper, which can largely be read independently of the first, we extend these results by defining a sheaf of rings on the injective spectrum and considering sheaves of modules over this structure s…
