We introduce a periodic two-dimensional $μ$-$b$-equation and a periodic two-dimensional two-component $(μ)$-Camassa-Holm equation which we study as geodesic flows on the diffeomorphism group of the torus and a semidirect product respectively. The paper explains the derivation of these equations within V.I. Arnold's (1966) general framework, some analogies to recently discussed related equations and gives a self-contained presentation of the geometric aspects. As an application, we obtain well-posedness results and some explicit curvature computations.
In this paper, we study the time periodic problem to a three-dimensional chemotaxis-Stokes model with porous medium diffusion $Δn^m$ and inhomogeneous mixed boundary conditions. By using a double-level approximation method and some iterative techniques, we obtain the existence and time-space uniform boundedness of weak time periodic solutions for any $m>1$. Moreover, we improve the regularity for $m\le\frac{4}{3}$ and show that the obtained periodic solutions are in fact strong periodic solutions.
Time-periodic solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations in the three-dimensional whole-space with a non-zero drift term: Asymptotic profile at spatial infinity
This paper presents Strichartz estimates for the linearized 1D periodic Dysthe equation on the torus, namely estimate of the $L^6_{x,t}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ norm of the solution in terms of the initial data, and estimate of the $L^4_{x,t}(\mathbb{T}^2)$ norm in terms of the Bourgain space norm. The paper also presents other results such as bilinear and trilinear estimates pertaining to local well-posedness of the 1-dimensional periodic Dysthe equation in a suitable Bourgain space, and ill-posedness results in Sobolev spaces.
We study the transverse dynamics of two-dimensional traveling periodic waves for the gravity--capillary water-wave problem. The governing equations are the Euler equations for the irrotational flow of an inviscid fluid layer with free surface under the forces of gravity and surface tension. We focus on two open sets of dimensionless parameters $(α,β)$, where $α$ and $β$ are the inverse square of the Froude number and the Weber number, respectively. For each arbitrary but fixed pair $(α,β)$ in one of these sets, two-dimensional traveling periodic waves bifurcate from the trivial constant flow. …
In this paper, we prove the uniform nonlinear structural stability of Poiseuille flows with arbitrarily large flux for the Navier-Stokes system in a two dimensional periodic strip when the period is not large. The key point is to establish the a priori estimate for the associated linearized problem via the careful analysis for the associated boundary layers. Furthermore, the well-posedness theory for the Navier-Stokes system is also proved even when the external force is large in $L^2$. Finally, if the vertical velocity is suitably small where the smallness is independent of the flux, then Poi…
