We develop an analytical model for ultracold atom-ion collisions using the multichannel quantum-defect formalism. The model is based on the analytical solutions of the r^-4 long-range potential and on the application of a frame transformation between asymptotic and molecular bases. This approach allows the description of the atom-ion interaction in the ultracold domain in terms of three parameters only: the singlet and triplet scattering lengths, assumed to be independent of the relative motion angular momentum, and the lead dispersion coefficient of the asymptotic potential. We also introduce corrections to the scattering lengths that improve the accuracy of our quantum-defect model for higher order partial waves, a particularly important result for an accurate description of shape and Feshbach resonances at finite temperature. The theory is applied to the system composed of a 40Ca+ ion and a Na atom, and compared to numerical coupled-channel calculations carried out using ab initio potentials. For this particular system, we investigate the spectrum of bound states, the rate of charge-transfer processes, and the collision rates in the presence of magnetic Feshbach resonances at zero and finite temperature.
We have developed the general grid method for multi-channel scattering of bosonic atoms inside a harmonic waveguide with transverse anisotropy. This approach is employed to analyze elastic as well as inelastic multi-channel confined scattering. For the elastic scattering, the effects of the range and form of interatomic potential and the waveguide anisotropy on the confinement induced resonance are studied. We have also investigated quantitatively the reactive rate constant in confined atom-atom collisions. It is found that a slight anisotropy to the confining trap considerably enhances the re…
Multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) has been widely applied to resonant and non-resonant scattering in a variety of atomic collision processes. In recent years, the method has been applied to cold collisions with considerable success, and it has proven to be a computationally viable alternative to full-close coupling (CC) calculations when spin, hyperfine and external field effects are included. In this paper, we describe a hybrid approach for molecule-molecule scattering that includes the simplicity of MQDT while treating the short-range interaction explicitly using CC calculations. Thi…
We present a multichannel quantum-defect theory for magnetic Feshbach resonances in the interaction of two heteronuclear group I atoms. The theory provides a unified and a uniform description of resonances in all partial waves, and enables the characterization of large number of resonances in terms of very few parameters. For the sample system of $^6$Li$^{40}$K, we present descriptions of all resonances in $aa$, $ab$, and $ba$ channels, in partial waves $s$ ($l=0$) through $h$ ($l=5$), and in a magnetic field of 0 through 1000 Gauss. All resonances, including those in nonzero partial waves, ar…
We present a multichannel quantum-defect theory for slow atomic collisions that takes advantages of the analytic solutions for the long-range potential, and both the energy and the angular-momentum insensitivities of the short-range parameters. The theory provides an accurate and complete account of scattering processes, including shape and Feshbach resonances, in terms of a few parameters such as the singlet and the triplet scattering lengths. As an example, results for $^{23}$Na-$^{23}$Na scattering are presented and compared close-coupling calculations.
The multichannel Efimov physics is investigated in ultracold heteronuclear admixtures of K and Rb atoms. We observe a shift in the scattering length where the first atom-dimer resonance appears in the $^{41}$K-$^{87}$Rb system relative to the position of the previously observed atom-dimer resonance in the $^{40}$K-$^{87}$Rb system. This shift is well explained by our calculations with a three-body model including the van der Waals interactions, and, more importantly, the multichannel spinor physics. With only minor difference in the atomic masses of the admixtures, the shift in the atom-dimer …
Multichannel Quantum Defect Theory (MQDT) is shown to be capable of producing quantitatively accurate results for low-energy atom-molecule scattering calculations. With a suitable choice of reference potential and short-range matching distance, it is possible to define a matrix that encapsulates the short-range collision dynamics and is only weakly dependent on energy and magnetic field. Once this has been produced, calculations at additional energies and fields can be performed at a computational cost that is proportional to the number of channels N and not to N^3. MQDT thus provides a promis…
The transformation introduced by Giusti-Suzor and Fano and extended by Lecomte and Ueda for the study of resonance structures in the multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) is used to reformulate MQDT into the forms having one-to-one correspondence with those in Fano's configuration mixing (CM) theory of resonance for the photofragmentation processes involving one closed and many open channels. The reformulation thus allows MQDT to have the full power of the CM theory, still keeping its own strengths such as the fundamental description of resonance phenomena without an assumption of the pres…
We present a quantum theory of ion-atom interaction that is applicable at energies comparable to or smaller than the atomic hyperfine splitting and takes proper account of the effects of identical nuclei. The theory reveals the subtlety and the complexity of cold ion-atom interactions including the change of threshold behavior due to hyperfine splitting and the existence of a large number, and a variety of scattering resonances between hyperfine thresholds. We show how this complexity is described, efficiently and at a quantitative level, using a multichannel quantum-defect theory that we pres…
We present a general formulation of multichannel quantum-defect theory (MQDT) for anisotropic long-range potentials. The theory unifies the treatment of atomic and molecular interactions of all types, and greatly expands the set of interactions that can be treated and understood systematically, including complex interactions involving molecules. In one exemplary manifestation, the theory provides a methodology to make the classification of atomic interactions based on the Periodic Table quantitative, instead of qualitative, and to generalize the Table to include molecular classes. Through the …
New measurements of high-lying even parity $6sns\, {}^1 \! S_0$ and $6snd\,{}^{3,1}\!D_2$ levels of neutral $^{174}$Yb are presented in this paper. Spectroscopy is performed by a two-step laser excitation from the ground state $4f^{14}6s^2 \, {}^1 \! S_0$, and the Rydberg levels are detected by using the field ionization method. Additional two-photon microwave spectroscopy is used to improve the relative energy accuracy where possible. The spectroscopic measurements are complemented by a multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) analysis for the J=0 and the two-coupled J=2 even parity series. …
Using the reactance matrix approach, we systematically develop new multichannel quantum defect theory models for the singlet and triplet S, P, D and F states of strontium based on improved energy level measurements. The new models reveal additional insights into the character of doubly excited perturber states, and the improved energy level measurements for certain series allow fine structure to be resolved for those series' perturbers. Comparison between the predictions of the new models and those of previous empirical and \emph{ab initio} studies reveals good agreement with most series, howe…
We show that multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) can be applied successfully as an efficient computational method for cold molecular collisions in Li+NH, which has a deep and strongly anisotropic interaction potential. In this strongly coupled system, closed-channel poles restrict the range over which the MQDT Y matrix can be interpolated. We present an improved procedure to transform the MQDT reference functions so that the poles are removed from the energy range of interest. Effects due to very long-range spin-dipolar couplings are outside the scope of MQDT, but can be added perturbati…
The Siegert states are approached in framework of Bloch-Lane-Robson formalism for quantum collisions. The Siegert state is not described by a pole of Wigner R- matrix but rather by the equation $1- R_{nn}L_n = 0$, relating R- matrix element $R_{nn}$ to decay channel logarithmic derivative $L_n$. Extension of Siegert state equation to multichannel system results into replacement of channel R- matrix element $R_{nn}$ by its reduced counterpart ${\cal R}_{nn}$. One proves the Siegert state is a pole, $(1 - {\cal R}_{nn} L_{n})^{-1}$, of multichannel collision matrix. The Siegert equation $1 - {\c…
We extend Multichannel Quantum Defect Theory (MQDT) to ultracold collisions involving high partial wave quantum numbers $L$. This requires a careful standardization of the MQDT reference wave functions at long range to ensure their linear independence. To illustrate the simplicity and accuracy of the resulting theory, we perform a comprehensive calculation of $L\le 2$ Fano-Feshbach resonances in the range 0-1000 G for the scattering of $^{40}$K + $^{87}$Rb in their lowest hyperfine states.
We report on the implementation of an optical tweezer system for controlled transport of ultracold atoms along a narrow, static confinement channel. The tweezer system is based on high-efficiency acousto-optical deflectors and offers two-dimensional control over beam position. This opens up the possibility for tracking the transport channel when shuttling atomic clouds along the guide, forestalling atom spilling. Multiple clouds can be tracked independently by time-shared tweezer beams addressing individual sites in the channel. The deflectors are controlled using a multichannel direct digital…
We study the behavior of the Eisenbud-Wigner collisional time delay around Feshbach resonances in cold and ultracold atomic and molecular collisions. We carry out coupled-channels scattering calculations on ultracold Rb and Cs collisions. In the low-energy limit, the time delay is proportional to the scattering length, so exhibits a pole as a function of applied field. At high energy, it exhibits a Lorentzian peak as a function of either energy or field. For narrow resonances, the crossover between these two regimes occurs at an energy proportional to the square of the resonance strength param…
The optical theorem is a fundamental aspect of quantum scattering theory. Here, we generalize this theorem to the case where the incident scattering state is a superposition of internal states of the collision partners, introducing additional interference contributions and, e.g., providing a route to control the total integral cross section. As in its standard form, forward scattering plays an essential role in the generalized optical theorem, but with interference terms being related to the inelastic forward scattering amplitudes between states in the initial superposition. Using the resultan…
In an ultracold, optically trapped mixture of $^{87}$Rb and metastable triplet $^4$He atoms we have studied trap loss for different spin-state combinations, for which interspecies Penning ionization is the main two-body loss process. We observe long trapping lifetimes for the purely quartet spin-state combination, indicating strong suppression of Penning ionization loss by at least two orders of magnitude. For the other spin-mixtures we observe short lifetimes that depend linearly on the doublet character of the entrance channel. We compare the extracted loss rate coefficient with recent predi…
We study atom-ion scattering in the ultracold regime. To this aim, an analytical model based on the multichannel quantum defect formalism is developed and compared to close-coupled numerical calculations. We investigate the occurrence of magnetic Feshbach resonances focusing on the specific 40Ca+ - Na system. The presence of several resonances at experimentally accessible magnetic fields should allow the atom-ion interaction to be precisely tuned. A fully quantum-mechanical study of charge exchange processes shows that charge-exchange rates should remain small even in the presence of resonance…
Compared to purely atomic collisions, ultracold collisions involving molecules have the potential to support a much larger number of Fano-Feshbach resonances due to the huge amount of ro-vibrational states available. In order to handle such ultracold atom-molecule collisions, we formulate a theory that incorporates the ro-vibrational Fano-Feshbach resonances in a statistical manner while treating the physics of the long-range scattering, which is sensitive to such things as hyperfine states, collision energy and any applied electromagnetic fields, exactly within multichannel quantum defect the…
A generalized class of ultra-long-range Rydberg molecules is proposed which consist of a multichannel Rydberg atom whose outermost electron creates a chemical bond with a distant ground state atom. Such multichannel Rydberg molecules exhibit favorable properties for laser excitation, because states exist where the quantum defect varies strongly with the principal quantum number. The resulting occurrence of near degeneracies with states of high orbital angular momentum promotes the admixture of low $l$ into the high $l$ deeply bound `trilobite' molecule states, thereby circumventing the usual d…
We report measurement of inelastic loss in dense and cold metastable ytterbium (Yb[$^3P_2$]). Use of an optical far-off-resonance trap enables us to trap atoms in all magnetic sublevels, removing multichannel collisional trap loss from the system. Trapped samples of Yb[$^3P_2$] are produced at a density of 2$\times10^{13}$ cm$^{-3}$ and temperature of 2 $μ$K. We observe rapid two-body trap loss of Yb[$^3P_2$] and measure the inelastic collision rate constant 1.0(3)$\times10^{-11}$ cm$^3$s$^{-1}$. The existence of the fine-structure changing collisions between atoms in the $^3P_2$ state is stro…
Ultracold collisions of cold atoms or molecules make the bound states of the collision complex formed from the two colliding species accessible for control and manipulation of the cold species or the complex. Such resonances are best treated by a resonant scattering theory, which in the ultracold domain can take advantage of the properties of the long-range potential and the methods of multichannel quantum defect theory. Coupled channels calculations on the threshold scattering states and bound states of the 40K87Rb molecule illustrate the ideas and methodology of quantum defect theory using t…
The multichannel Na-Cs interactions are characterized by a series of measurements using two atoms in an optical tweezer, along with a multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT). The triplet and singlet scattering lengths are measured by performing Raman spectroscopy of the Na-Cs motional states and least-bound molecular state in the tweezer. Magnetic Feshbach resonances are observed for only two atoms at fields which agree well with the MQDT. Our methodology, which promotes the idea of an effective theory of interaction, can be a key step towards the understanding and the description of more co…
We analyze the recently measured anomalous transport properties of an ultracold gas through a ballistic constriction [S. Krinner et al., PNAS 201601812 (2016)]. The quantized conductance observed at weak interactions increases several-fold as the gas is made strongly interacting, which cannot be explained by the Landauer theory of single-channel transport. We show that this phenomenon is due to the multichannel Andreev reflections at the edges of the constriction, where the interaction and confinement result in a superconducting state. Andreev processes convert atoms of otherwise reflecting ch…
The prospects of sympathetic cooling of polar molecules with magnetically co-trapped alkali-metal atoms are generally considered poor due to strongly anisotropic atom-molecule interactions leading to large spin relaxation rates. Using rigorous quantum scattering calculations based on ab initio interaction potentials, we show that inelastic spin relaxation in low-temperature collisions of CaH(2Sigma) molecules with Li and Mg atoms occurs at a slow rate despite the strongly anisotropic interactions. This unexpected result, which we rationalize using multichannel quantum defect theory, opens up t…
We consider the coherent control of ultracold molecule-molecule scattering, impacted by a dense set of rovibrational resonances. To characterize the resonance spectrum, a rudimentary model based on multichannel quantum defect theory has been used to study the control of the scattering cross section and the reaction rate. Complete control around resonance energies is shown to be possible, but thermal averaging over a large number of resonances significantly reduces the extent of control of reaction rates due to the random distribution of optimal control parameters between resonances. We show th…
We analyze a system of two colliding ultracold atoms under strong harmonic confinement from the viewpoint of quantum defect theory and formulate a generalized self-consistent method for determining the allowed energies. We also present two highly efficient computational methods for determining the bound state energies and eigenfunctions of such systems. The perturbed harmonic oscillator problem is characterized by a long asymptotic region beyond the effective range of the interatomic potential. The first method, which is based on quantum defect theory and is an adaptation of a technique develo…
Photodissociation of a molecule produces a spatial distribution of photofragments determined by the molecular structure and the characteristics of the dissociating light. Performing this basic chemical reaction at ultracold temperatures allows its quantum mechanical features to dominate. In this regime, weak applied fields can be used to control the reaction. Here, we photodissociate ultracold diatomic strontium in magnetic fields below 10 G and observe striking changes in photofragment angular distributions. The observations are in excellent qualitative agreement with a multichannel quantum c…
We investigate the properties of two interacting ultracold polar molecules described as distinguishable quantum rigid rotors, trapped in a one-dimensional harmonic potential. The molecules interact via a multichannel two-body contact potential, incorporating the short-range anisotropy of intermolecular interactions including dipole-dipole interaction. The impact of external electric and magnetic fields resulting in Stark and Zeeman shifts of molecular rovibrational states is also investigated. Energy spectra and eigenstates are calculated by means of the exact diagonalization. The importance a…
We investigate magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances between ultracold europium atoms and between europium and alkali-metal atoms using multichannel quantum scattering calculations. For ultracold gases of europium atoms both homonuclear $^{153}$Eu+$^{153}$Eu and heteronuclear $^{151}$Eu+$^{153}$Eu systems are studied. Calculations for mixtures of europium and alkali-metal atoms are carried out for prototype systems of $^{153}$Eu+$^{87}$Rb and $^{153}$Eu+$^7$Li. We analyze the prospects for the control of scattering properties, observation of quantum chaotic behavior, and magnetoassociation …
We have observed 69 $^{41}$K-$^6$Li interspecies Feshbach resonances including 13 elastic p-wave resonances and 6 broad d-wave resonances of $^{41}$K atoms in different spin-state combinations at fields up to 600~G. Multi-channel quantum defect theory calculation is performed to assign these resonances and the results show perfect agreement with experimental values after improving input parameters. The observed broad p- and d- wave resonances display a full resolved multiplet structure. They may serve as important simulators to nonzero partial wave dominated physics.
We consider losses in collisions of ultracold molecules described by a simple statistical short-range model that explicitly accounts for the limited lifetime of classically chaotic collision complexes. This confirms that thermally sampling many isolated resonances leads to a loss cross section equal to the elastic cross section derived by Mayle et al. [Phys. Rev. A 85, 062712 (2012)], and this makes precise the conditions under which this is the case. Surprisingly, we find that the loss is nonuniversal. We also consider the case that loss broadens the short-range resonances to the point that t…
A comprehensive search for "broad" Feshbach resonances (FRs) in all possible combinations of stable alkali-metal atoms is carried out, using a multi-channel quantum-defect theory assisted by the analytic wave functions for a long-range van-der-Waals potential. A number of new "broad" $s$-, $p$- and $d$-wave FRs in the lowest-energy scattering channels, which are stable against two-body dipolar spin-flip loss, are predicted and characterized. Our results also show that "broad" FRs of $p$- or $d$-wave type that are free of two-body loss do not exist between fermionic alkali-metal atoms for magne…
We employ a quantum defect theory framework to provide a detailed analysis of the interplay between a magnetic Feshbach resonance and a shape resonance in cold collisions of ultracold $\rm ^{87}Rb$ atoms as captured in recent experiments using a laser-based collider [Phys. Rev. Research 3, 033209 (2021)]. By exerting control over a parameter space spanned by both collision energy and magnetic field, the width of a Feshbach resonance can be tuned over several orders of magnitude. We apply a quantum defect theory specialized for ultracold atomic collisions to fully describe of the experimental o…
A simple quantum defect model gives analytic expressions for the complex scattering length and threshold collision rates of ultracold molecules. If the probability of reaction in the short-range part of the collision is high, the model gives universal rate constants for s- and p-wave collisions that are independent of short-range dynamics. This model explains the magnitudes of the recently measured rate constants for collisions of two ultracold 40K87Rb molecules, or an ultracold 40K atom with the 40K87Rb molecule [Ospelkaus et al., Science 327, 853 (2010)].
From a rigorous multichannel quantum-defect formulation of bimolecular processes, we derive a fully quantal and analytic model for the total rate of exoergic bimolecular reactions and/or inelastic processes that is applicable over a wide range of temperatures including the ultracold regime. The theory establishes a connection between the ultracold chemistry and the regular chemistry by showing that the same theory that gives the quantum threshold behavior agrees with the classical Gorin model at higher temperatures. In between, it predicts that the rates for identical bosonic molecules and dis…
We study the proton-hydrogen collision in the energy range from 0 to 5 K where the hyperfine structure of the hydrogen atom is important. The proper multichannel treatment of the hyperfine structure is found to be crucial at cold temperatures compared to the elastic approximation used for higher temperatures. Both elastic and hyperfine-changing inelastic processes are investigated using the newly developed multichannel quantum-defect theory (MQDT) as well as the traditional coupled-channel numerical method. Cross section results from the two methods coincide well throughout the energy range. T…
We present a formalism for cold and ultracold atom-diatom chemical reactions that combines a quantum close-coupling method at short-range with quantum defect theory at long-range. The method yields full state-to-state rovibrationally resolved cross sections as in standard close-coupling (CC) calculations but at a considerably less computational expense. This hybrid approach exploits the simplicity of MQDT while treating the short-range interaction explicitly using quantum CC calculations. The method, demonstrated for D+H$_2\to$ HD+H collisions with rovibrational quantum state resolution of the…
This chapter summarizes the properties of near-threshold molecular states that can be formed from ultracold atoms. The properties of the states for a single potential are characterized for different partial waves using the concepts of quantum defect theory for a van der Waals potential. Examples are given for various isotopes of the Yb_2 molecule. Magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances or photoassociation resonances are characterized by the multichannel version of the theory. Examples of the latter are given for the KRb molecule.
The multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) in combination with the frame transformation (FT) approach is applied to model the Fano-Feshbach resonances measured for $^{7}$Li$^{87}$Rb and $^{6}$Li$^{87}$Rb [Marzok {\it et al.} Phys. Rev. A {\bf 79} 012717 (2009)]. The MQDT results show a level of accuracy comparable to that of previous models based on direct, fully numerical solutions of the the coupled channel Schrödinger equations (CC). Here, energy levels deduced from 2-photon photoassociation spectra for $^{7}$Li$^{85}$Rb are assigned by applying the MQDT approach, obtaining the bound sta…
Feshbach resonances in ultracold collisions often result from an interplay between many collision channels. Simple two-channel models can be introduced to capture the basic features, but cannot fully reproduce the situation when several resonances from different closed channels contribute to the scattering process. Using the formalism of multichannel quantum defect theory we develop an analytical model of overlapping Feshbach resonances. We find a general formula for the variation of the scattering length with magnetic field in the vicinity of an arbitrary number of resonances, characterized b…
We presents a fully quantal version of the Langevin model for the total rate of exoergic ion-molecule reactions or inelastic processes. The model, which is derived from a rigorous multichannel quantum-defect formulation of bimolecular processes, agrees with the classical Langevin model at sufficiently high temperatures. It also gives the first analytic description of ion-molecule reactions and inelastic processes in the ultracold regime where the quantum nature of the relative motion between the reactants becomes important.
We theoretically explore atomic Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) subject to position-dependent spin-orbit coupling (SOC). This SOC can be produced by cyclically laser coupling four internal atomic ground (or metastable) states in an environment where the detuning from resonance depends on position. The resulting spin-orbit coupled BEC phase-separates into domains, each of which contain density modulations - stripes - aligned either along the x or y direction. In each domain, the stripe orientation is determined by the sign of the local detuning. When these stripes have mismatched spatial perio…
We present some of the universal properties in ion-atom interaction derived from a newly formulated quantum-defect theory for $-1/r^4$ type of long-range interactions. For bound states, we present the universal bound spectrum, namely the equivalent of the Rydberg formula, for ion-atom systems. For scattering, we introduce the concept of universal resonance spectrum to give a systematic understanding of many resonances present in ion-atom scattering. The theory further provides a method for an accurate spectroscopic determination of the atomic polarizability. It also suggests the existence of a…
As a physically motivated and computationally simple model for cold atomic and molecular collisions, the multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT) with frame transformation (FT) formalism provides an analytical treatment of scattering resonances in an arbitrary partial wave between alkali-metal atoms, leading to the experimental observation of $p-$ and $d-$wave resonances. However, the inconsistency of quantum defects for describing scattering resonances shows up when compared with experiments. Here, with two heteronuclear atoms in the ground state of an optical tweezer, the energy dependence …
We prepare mixtures of ultracold CaF molecules and Rb atoms in a magnetic trap and study their inelastic collisions. When the atoms are prepared in the spin-stretched state and the molecules in the spin-stretched component of the first rotationally excited state, they collide inelastically with a rate coefficient of $k_2 = (6.6 \pm 1.5) \times 10^{-11}$ cm$^{3}$/s at temperatures near 100~$μ$K. We attribute this to rotation-changing collisions. When the molecules are in the ground rotational state we see no inelastic loss and set an upper bound on the spin relaxation rate coefficient of $k_2 <…
We investigate collisions of polar molecules in quasi-2D traps in the presence of an external electric field perpendicular to the collision plane. We use the quantum-defect model characterized by two dimensionless parameters: $y$ and $s$. The first of them is related to the probability of the reaction at short distances, whereas the latter one defines the wave function phase at short distances. For $y$ close to unity we obtain universal collision rates determined by the quantum reflection process from the long-range part of the interaction potential that depends only on the van der Waals coeff…
We apply the quantum-defect theory for $-1/R^4$ potential to study the resonant charge exchange process. We show that by taking advantage of the partial-wave-insensitive nature of the formulation, resonant charge exchange of the type of $^1$S+$^2$S can be accurately described over a wide range of energies using only three parameters, such as the \textit{gerade} and the \textit{ungerade} $s$ wave scattering lengths, and the atomic polarizability, even at energies where many partial waves contribute to the cross sections. The parameters can be determined experimentally, without having to rely on…
We derive analytical solutions for the system of two ultracold spin-polarized fermions interacting in p wave and confined in an axially symmetric harmonic trap. To this end we utilize p-wave pseudopotential with an energy-dependent scattering volume. This allows to describe the scattering in tight trapping potentials in the presence of scattering resonances. We verify predictions of the pseudopotential treatment for some model interaction potential, obtaining an excellent agreement with exact energy levels. Then we turn to the experimentally relevant case of neutral atom interactions in the vi…
We report on the atom loss spectroscopy of strontium Rydberg atoms in a magneto-optical trap, using a two-photon excitation scheme through the intermediate state $5\mathrm{s}5\mathrm{p} \, ^3\mathrm{P}_1$. Energies of the $5\mathrm{s}n\mathrm{s} \, ^3\mathrm{S}_1$ and $5\mathrm{s}n\mathrm{d} \, ^3\mathrm{D}_{1,2}$ Rydberg series of $^{88}$Sr in the range $13 \leq n \leq 50$ are determined with an absolute accuracy of 10 MHz, including the perturbed region where the $5\mathrm{s}n\mathrm{d} \, ^3\mathrm{D}_{2}$ series couples to the $5\mathrm{s}n\mathrm{d} \, ^1\mathrm{D}_{2}$ series. This repre…
