In Israel-Stewart's theory of dissipative hydrodynamics, we have analyzed the recent ALICE data for the centrality dependence of charged particle multiplicity, centrality dependence of integrated elliptic flow and 0-5% charged particles $p_T$ spectra in $\sqrt{s}_{NN}$=2.76 TeV Pb+Pb collisions and determined the initial or the thermalisation time. Analysis indicate that the ALICE data disfavor very early thermalsiation $τ_i$=0.2 fm, or very late thermalsation $τ_i$= 4fm. Data are best explained for thermalisation time $τ_i=0.88^{-0.14}_{+0.68}$ fm.
Multiplicity distributions and event-by-event multiplicity fluctuations in AuAu collisions at energies in future heavy-ion experiment at the Facility for Anti-proton and Ion Research (FAIR) are investigated. Events corresponding to FAIR energies are simulated in the frame work of Ultra Relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (URQMD) model. It is observed that the mean and the width of multiplicity distributions monotonically increase with beam energy. The trend of variations of dispersion with mean number of participating nucleons for the centrality-bin width of 5\% are in accord with the Cent…
The centrality dependence of the charged multiplicity, transverse energy, and elliptic flow coefficient is studied in a hydrodynamic model, using a variety of different initializations which model the initial energy or entropy production process as a hard or soft process, respectively. While the charged multiplicity depends strongly on the chosen initialization, the p_t-integrated elliptic flow for charged particles as a function of charged particle multiplicity and the p_t-differential elliptic flow for charged particles in minimum bias events turn out to be almost independent of the initial …
As one of the possible signals for the whereabouts of the critical point on the QCD phase diagram, recently, the multiplicity fluctuations in heavy-ion collisions have aroused much attention. It is a crucial observable of the Beam Energy Scan program of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. In this work, we investigate the centrality dependence of the multiplicity fluctuations regarding the recent measurements from STAR Collaboration. By employing a hydrodynamical approach, the present study is dedicated to the noncritical aspects of the phenomenon. To be specific, in addition to the thermal fl…
Measurements indicate that the centrality dependence of the direct photon multiplicity scales approximately with the number of binary nucleon collisions. Importantly, these same measurements suggest that this scaling does not depend on the cutoff used to define the photon multiplicity. In this work we provide a theoretical perspective on these observations. We emphasize the importance of stronger experimental constraints, in particular for the cutoff independence of the centrality scaling. We highlight the importance of revisiting theoretical studies of jet-medium photons and of medium-modifie…
We studied the centrality selection effect on cumulants (up to fourth order) and the cumulants ratios of net-proton multiplicity distributions in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 7.7, 19.6 and 200 GeV from UrQMD model. The net-proton cumulants are calculated with collision centralities by using charged particle multiplicity from different pesudorapidity ($η$) region. By comparing the results from various collision centralities, we found that the autocorrelation effects are not significant in the results with collision centralities "refmult-3" and "refmult-2", which are using mid-…
We have studied the centrality dependence of charged particle forward-backward multiplicity correlation strength in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV with a parton and hadron cascade model, PACIAE, based on PYTHIA. The calculated results are compared with the STAR data. The experimentally observed correlation strength characters: (1) the approximately flat pseudorapidity dependence in central collisions and (2) the monotonous decrease with decreasing centrality are well reproduced. However the theoretical results are bigger than the STAR data for the peripheral collisions. A discussi…
We discuss multiplicity fluctuations of charged particles produced in nuclear collisions measured event-by-event by the NA49 experiment at CERN SPS within the Glauber Monte Carlo approach. We use the concepts of wounded nucleons and wounded quarks in the mechanism of multiparticle production to characterize multiplicity fluctuations expressed by the scaled variance of multiplicity distribution. Although Wounded Nucleon Model correctly reproduce the centrality dependence of the average multiplicity in Pb+Pb collisions, it completely fails in description of corresponding centrality dependence of…
We have studied the centrality bin size dependence of charged particle forward-backward multiplicity correlation strength in 5%, 0-5%, and 0-10% most central Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_NN}}$=200 GeV with a parton and hadron cascade model, PACIAE based on PYTHIA. The real (total), statistical, and NBD (Negative Binomial Distribution) correlation strengths are calculated by the real events, the mixed events, and fitting the charged particle multiplicity distribution to the NBD, respectively. It is turned out that the correlation strength increases with increasing centrality bin size monotonous…
We show, under general assumptions which are well satisfied in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, that the geometric relation of centrality c to the impact parameter b, namely c ~ pi b^2/sigma_inel, holds to a very high accuracy for all but most peripheral collisions. More precisely, if c(N) is the centrality of events with the multiplicity higer than N, then b is the value of the impact parameter for which the average multiplicity <n(b)> is equal to N. The corrections to this geometric formula are of the order (Delta n(b)/<n(b)>)^2, where Delta n(b) is the width of the multiplicity distributi…
The recently proposed participant dissipating effective-energy approach is applied to describe the dependence on centrality of the multiplicity of charged particles measured in heavy-ion collisions at the collision energies up to the highest LHC energy of 5 TeV. The effective-energy approach relates multihadron production in different types of collisions, by combining, under the proper collision energy scaling, the constituent quark picture with Landau relativistic hydrodynamics. The measurements are shown to be well described in terms of the centrality-dependent effective energy of participan…
The inclusive spectra so far accumulated at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at energies of $\sqrt{s} = 56, 130$ and 200 GeV are examined within the hadronic simulation LUCIFER. What emerges at this juncture is a comprehensive and clear picture of soft physics which apparently dominates the intermediate and later stages of the ion collisions. The focus is on energy and centrality dependence of the mid-rapidity charged spectra, using an analysis based for the most part on production and rescattering of intermediate generic resonances. The bosonic Rho and K(*)-like resonances, produced…
Centrality dependence of charged particles multiplicity, transverse momentum spectra, integrated and differential elliptic flow, in $\sqrt{s}_{NN}$=200 GeV Au+Au collisions are analyzed using event by event ideal hydrodynamics. Monte-Carlo Glauber model of initial condition, constrained to reproduce experimental charged particle's multiplicity in 0-10% Au+Au collisions, reasonably well reproduces all the experimental observables, e.g. centrality dependence of charged particles multiplicity, integrated and differential elliptic flow. Model predictions for higher flow harmonics, $v_3$, $v_4$ how…
We discuss recently measured event-by-event multiplicity fluctuations in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. It is shown that the non-monotonic behavior of the multiplicity fluctuations as a function of collision centrality can be fully explained by the correlations between produced particles.
In p-p collisions the average transverse momentum is known to be correlated with the multiplicity of produced particles. The correlation is shown to survive in a superposition model of nucleus-nucleus collisions. When properly parameterized, the correlation strength appears to be independent of the collision centrality - it is the same in p-p and central A-A collisions. However, the correlation is strongly suppressed by the centrality fluctuations.
Multiplicity distributions of charged particles and their event-by-event fluctuations have been compiled for relativistic heavy-ion collisions from the available experimental data at Brookhaven National Laboratory and CERN and also by the use of an event generator. Multiplicity fluctuations are sensitive to QCD phase transition and to the presence of critical point in the QCD phase diagram. In addition, multiplicity fluctuations provide baselines for other event-by-event measurements. Multiplicity fluctuation expressed in terms of the scaled variance of the multiplicity distribution is an inte…
Using a hadron and string cascade model, JPCIAE, the energy and centrality dependences of charged particle pseudorapidity density in relativistic nuclear collisions were studied. Within the framework of this model, both the relativistic $p+\bar p$ experimental data and the PHOBOS and PHENIX $Au+Au$ data at $\sqrt s_{nn}$=130 GeV could be reproduced fairly well without retuning the model parameters. The predictions for full RHIC energy $Au+Au$ collisions and for $Pb+Pb$ collisions at the ALICE energy were given. Participant nucleon distributions were calculated based on different methods. It wa…
Volume or centrality fluctuations (CF) is one of the main uncertainties for interpreting the centrality dependence of many experimental observables. The CF is constrained by centrality selection based on particle multiplicity in a reference subevent, and contributes to observables measured in another subevent. Using a Glauber-based independent source model, we study the influence of CF on several distributions of multiplicity $N$ and eccentricities $ε_n$: $p(N)$, $p(ε_n)$, $p(ε_n,ε_m)$ and $p(N,ε_n)$, where the effects of CF is quantified using multi-particle cumulants of these distributions. …
We show that, even in purely soft processes, the hadronic multiplicity in nucleus-nucleus interactions contains a term that scales with the number of binary collisions. In the absence of shadowing corrections, this term dominates at mid rapidities and high energies. Shadowing corrections are calculated as a function of impact parameter and the centrality dependence of mid-rapidity multiplicities is determined. The multiplicity per participant increases with centrality with a rate that increases between SPS and RHIC energies, in agreement with experiment.
In this paper, STAR's measurement of clan multiplicity is presented for AuAu collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4 and 200 GeV, for a variety of centrality classes. The mean number of particles per clan is found to decrease with decreasing centrality. Within the same centrality class, the mean number of particles per clan exhibits a reduction between 19.6 GeV and 62 GeV, with the minimum around 27 GeV. The structure is visible for most centralities, and most prominent for central collisions.
Initial volume fluctuation (VF) arising from the participant fluctuation would be the background which should be subtracted experimentally from the measured higher-order cumulants. We study the validity of the Volume Fluctuation Correction (VFC) on higher-order net-proton cumulants by using simple toy model and UrQMD model in Au+Au collisions at \sqrt s_{NN} = 200 GeV for various centrality definitions. The results are compared to the conventional data driven method called Centrality Bin Width Correction (CBWC). We find VFC works well in toy model assuming independent particle production (IPP)…
The preliminary data of the PHENIX collaboration for the scaled variances of charged hadron multiplicity fluctuations in Au+Au at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV are analyzed within the model of independent sources. We use the HSD transport model to calculate the participant number fluctuations and the number of charged hadrons per nucleon participant in different centrality bins. This combined picture leads to a good agreement with the PHENIX data and suggests that the measured multiplicity fluctuations result dominantly from participant number fluctuations. The role of centrality selection and acceptance…
In part to search for a possible critical point (CP) in the phase diagram of hot nuclear matter, a Beam Energy Scan was performed at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The STAR experiment collected significant Au+Au data sets at beam energies, $\sqrt{{\rm s}_{\rm NN}}$, of 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, and 200 GeV. Lattice and phenomenological calculations suggest that the presence of a CP might result in divergences of the thermodynamic susceptibilities and correlation length. The statistical moments of the multiplicity distributions of particles reflectin…
We discuss different sources of fluctuations in nuclear collisions and their realization in the IP-Glasma model. We present results for multiplicity distributions in p+p and p+A collisions and compare eccentricity distributions in A+A collisions to the flow harmonic distributions in 10 centrality classes measured by the ATLAS collaboration.
An analysis method is proposed to study the forward-backward (FB) multiplicity fluctuation in high-energy nuclear collisions, built on the earlier work of Bzdak and Teaney. The method allows the decomposition of the centrality dependence of average multiplicity from the dynamical event-by-event (EbyE) fluctuation of multiplicity in pseudorapidity. Application of the method to AMPT and HIJING models shows that the long-range component of the FB correlation is captured by a few longitudinal harmonics, with the first component driven by the asymmetry in the number of participating nucleons in the…
The centrality dependence of elliptic flow and how it is related to the physics of expansion of the system created in high energy nuclear collisions is discussed. Since in the hydro limit the centrality dependence of elliptic flow is mostly defined by the elliptic anisotropy of the overlapping region of the colliding nuclei, and in the low density limit by the product of the elliptic anisotropy and the multiplicity, we argue that the centrality dependence of elliptic flow should be a good indicator of the degree of equilibration reached in the reaction. Then we analyze experimental data obtain…
The STAR data on the multiplicity correlations between narrow psudorapidity bins in the pp and AuAu collisions are discussed. The PYTHIA 8.145 generator is used for the pp data, and a naive superposition model is presented for the AuAu data. It is shown that the PYTHIA generator with default parameter values describes the pp data reasonably well, whereas the superposition model fails to reproduce the centrality dependence seen in the data. Some possible reasons for this failure and a comparison with other models are presented.
Starting from the light-cone plasma (LCP) distribution of gluons produced in proton-proton collisions, we derive the invariant charged-particle yield dN/dyd^2pT in heavy-ion collisions. Multiple scattering of partons in the other nucleus leads to pT broadening, which depends on the centrality of the collision. The resulting change of the LCP parameters determines the distributions of charged particles. The charged-particle multiplicity dN/deta at eta=0 normalized to the number of participating nucleons has a universal centrality dependence, common to RHIC and LHC. This universal increase is of…
In ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions, the multiplicity of multi-strange baryons per participating nucleon increases with centrality in a different fashion for different systems and energies. At RHIC, for copper+copper (CuCu) collisions the increase is much steeper than for gold-gold (AuAu) collisions. We show that this system size dependence is due to a core-corona effect: the relative importance of the corona as compared to the core (thermalized matter) contribution varies and the contribution of a corona nucleon to the multiplicity differs from that of a core nucleon. $ϕ$ mesons follow …
The centrality or the number of initial-state sources $V$ of the system produced in heavy ion collision is a concept that is not uniquely defined and subject to significant theoretical and experimental uncertainties. We argue that a more robust connection between the initial-state sources with final-state multiplicity could be established from the event-by-event multiplicity correlation between two subevents separated in pseudorapidity, $N_a$ vs $N_b$. This correlation is sensitive to two main types of centrality fluctuations (CF): 1) particle production for each source $p(n)$ which smears the…
Results on the study of localized fluctuations in the multiplicity of charged particles and photons produce 158A GeV/c Pb+Pb collisions are presented for four different centrality classes. The charged versus neutral particle multiplicity correlations in common phase space regions of varying azimuthal size are analyzed by two different methods. Various types of mixed events are constructed to probe fluctuations arising from different sources. The measured results are compared to those from simulations and from mixed events. The comparison indicates the presence of non-statistical fluctuations i…
The multihadron production in nucleus-nucleus collisions and its interrelation with that in (anti)proton-proton interactions are studied by exploring the charged particle mean multiplicity collision-energy and centrality dependencies in the measurements to date. The study is performed in the framework of the recently proposed effective-energy approach which, under the proper scaling of the collision energy, combines the constituent quark picture with Landau relativistic hydrodynamics counting for the centrality-defined effective energy of participants and relating different types of collisions…
In this paper, we investigate the multiplicity fluctuations of charged particles observed in high-energy nuclear collisions and relate them to the size of hadronizing systems which happen during such processes. We use the average multiplicities $\langle N\rangle $ and variances $Var\left(N\right)$ of multiplicity distributions of charged particles produced in centrality selected collisions of relativistic heavy-ion nuclei to evaluate the dynamic variable $Ω$ and study its dependence on the size of colliding nuclei. We connect the observed system-size dependence of multiplicity fluctuations wit…
We show that the centrality dependence of the multiplicity is identical in Pb+Pb and Xe+Xe collisions at the LHC, up to a constant factor. This geometric scaling is revealed if one defines centrality according to impact parameter, as opposed to the usual experimental definition, which is in terms of multiplicity. We reconstruct the impact parameter dependence of the multiplicity from experimental data using a recently-developed inversion method, which turns out to describe ALICE Xe+Xe multiplicity data much better than usual Monte Carlo Glauber fits. The multiplicity as function of impact para…
We explore the possibility of observing elliptic flow in low multiplicity events in central pp collisions at LHC energy, $\sqrt{s}$=14 TeV. It is assumed that the initial interactions produces a number of hot spots. Hydrodynamical evolution of two or more hot spots can generate sufficiently large elliptic flow to be accessible experimentally in 4-th order cumulant analysis.
We discuss recently measured event-by-event fluctuations of transverse momentum and of multiplicity in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. It is shown that the non-monotonic behavior of the p_T-fluctuations as a function of collision centrality can be fully explained by the observed non-monotonic multiplicity fluctuations. A possible mechanism responsible for the multiplicity fluctuations is also considered.
We derive a simple analytical scaling function which embodies the predictions of high density QCD on the energy, centrality, rapidity, and atomic number dependences of hadron multiplicities in nuclear collisions. Both centrality and rapidity dependences of hadron multiplicity in $Au-Au$ collisions as measured at RHIC at $\sqrt{s}= 130 {GeV}$ are well described in this approach. The centrality and rapidity dependences of hadron multiplicity at $\sqrt{s}= 200 \ {GeV}$ run at RHIC are predicted; the variation of these dependences with energy appear different from other approaches, and can be used…
We study the dependence of the normalized moments of the net-proton multiplicity distributions on the definition of centrality in relativistic nuclear collisions at a beam energy of $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}= 7.7$ GeV. Using the UrQMD model as event generator we find that the centrality definition has a large effect on the extracted cumulant ratios. Furthermore we find that the finite efficiency for the determination of the centrality introduces an additional systematic uncertainty. Finally, we quantitatively investigate the effects of event-pile up and other possible spurious effects which may …
Hadron multiplicity in the central rapidity region of high-energy heavy-ion collisions is investigated within a two-component mini-jet model which consists of soft and semi-hard particle production. The hard contribution from mini-jets is reevaluated using the latest parameterization of parton distributions and nuclear shadowing. The energy dependence of the experimental data from RHIC requires a strong nuclear shadowing of the gluon distribution in this model. The centrality dependence of the hadron multiplicity at $\sqrt{s}=130$ GeV is reproduced well with the impact-parameter dependent part…
The centrality dependence of the $p/π$ ratio measured by the ALICE Collaboration in 5.02 TeV Pb-Pb collisions indicates a statistically significant suppression with the increase of the charged particle multiplicity once the centrality-correlated part of the systematic uncertainty is eliminated from the data. We argue that this behavior can be attributed to baryon annihilation in the hadronic phase. By implementing the $B\bar{B} \leftrightarrow 5π$ reaction within a generalized partial chemical equilibrium framework, we estimate the annihilation freeze-out temperature at different centralities,…
In this paper, we study and predict the charged-particle pseudorapidity multiplicity density ($\frac{dN_{ch}}{dη}$), transverse momentum spectra of identified particles and their ratios in relativistic heavy ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), using the string-melting version of a multi-phase transport (AMPT) model with improved quark coalescence method. Results of the charged-particle pseudorapidity multiplicity density from AMPT model calculations for Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=5.02$ TeV are compared with the experimental data. Good agreements are generally found betwe…
Within Israel-Stewart's theory of dissipative hydrodynamics, we have analyzed ALICE data for the centrality dependence of charged particles multiplicity, elliptic flow and $p_T$ spectra in $\sqrt{s}_{NN}$=2.76 TeV Pb+Pb collisions and obtained the temperature dependence of the QGP viscosity over the entropy ratio ($\etas$). If temperature dependence of $\etas$ is parameterized as $\etas=α\frac{T-T_c}{T_c}+\frac{1}{4π}$, experimental data favor $α$ in the range 0-0.2. $α\geq 0.4$ is not favored by the data. Experimental data in $\sqrt{s}_{NN}$=200 GeV Au+Au collisions however, prefer $α$=0.4.
In the Israel-Stewart's theory of second order hydrodynamics, we have simulated $\sqrt{s}$=2.76 TeV Pb+Pb collisions. ALICE data for the centrality dependence of charged particles multiplicity, $p_T$ spectra in 0-5% collisions, centrality dependence of integrated and differential elliptic flow are analysed. Analysis indicate that while ALICE data on charged particles multiplicity or $p_T$ spectra do not demand any viscosity, viscosity is demanded by the elliptic flow data. From a simulataneous fit to all the data sets, viscosity to entropy ratio in $\sqrt{s}_{NN}$=2.76 TeV Pb+Pb collisions is …
Event by event EPOS calculations in which the expansion of the system is described by {\it ideal} hydrodynamics reproduce well the measured centrality dependence of $v_2/ε_{part}$, although it has been claimed that only viscous hydrodynamics can reproduce these data. This is due to the core - corona effect which manifests itself in the initial condition of the hydrodynamical expansion. The centrality dependence of $v_2/ε_{part}$ can be understood in the recently advanced core-corona model, a simple parameter free EPOS inspired model to describe the centrality dependence of different observable…
We argue that large fluctuations in the saturation momentum are necessary to explain the ATLAS and ALICE data on pA collisions measured at the LHC. Using a form for the distribution of fluctuations motivated by theoretical studies of the non-linear evolution equations for the Color Glass Condensate, we find a remarkably good agreement between theory and the measured distributions. If the saturation momentum fluctuates, we argue that the cross section for a proton probe should also fluctuate, consistent with previous observations. Finally we discuss these results and their possible consistency …
With the help of AMPT default model, we study the influence of initial size (centrality of collisions) on higher cumulant ratios of net-proton distributions. If the centrality is presented by impact parameter, there is a strong centrality dependent, in particular, in those peripheral collisions. This dependence is slightly reduced if the centrality is presented by number of participant, or charged multiplicity. However, the dynamical ratios are almost centrality independent. So the centrality dependence of dynamical ratios at RHIC beam energy scan are presented.
The energy and centrality dependence of the charged multiplicity per participant nucleon is shown to be able to differentiate between final-state saturation and fixed scale pQCD models of initial entropy production in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. The energy dependence is shown to test the nuclear enhancement of the mini-jet component of the initial conditions, while the centrality dependence provides a key test of whether gluon saturation is reached at RHIC energies. HIJING model predicts that the rapidity density per participant increases with centrality, while the saturation model predi…
Event-by-event fluctuations in the multiplicities of charged particles and photons, and the total transverse energy in 158$\cdot A$ GeV Pb+Pb collisions are studied for a wide range of centralities. For narrow centrality bins the multiplicity and transverse energy distributions are found to be near perfect Gaussians. The effect of detector acceptance on the multiplicity fluctuations has been studied and demonstrated to follow statistical considerations. The centrality dependence of the charged particle multiplicity fluctuations in the measured data has been found to agree reasonably well with …
The global variables like the transverse energy at midrapidity, the charged particle multiplicity at midrapidity and the total multiplicity of charged particles are evaluated in the single-freeze-out statistical model for different centrality bins at RHIC at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=130$ and 200 GeV. Full description of decays of hadron resonances is applied in these estimations. The geometric parameters of the model are obtained from the fit to the final data on the $p_{T}$ spectra. The predicted values of the global variables agree qualitatively well with the experimental data. The centrality independ…
We analyze the first results on charged particle multiplicity at RHIC in the conventional eikonal approach and in the framework of high density QCD. We extract the fraction $F$ of the hadron multiplicity originating from ``hard'' (i.e. proportional to the number of binary collisions) processes; we find a strong growth of this fraction with energy: $F(\sqrt{s}=56 {\rm GeV}) \simeq 22%$, while $F(\sqrt{s}=130 {\rm GeV}) \simeq 37 %$. This indicates a rapid increase in the density of the produced particles. We outline the predictions of high density QCD for the centrality, energy, and atomic numb…
We study the rapidity spectra in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions in the framework of the Landau hydrodynamical model. We find that thermal smearing effects improve the agreement with experimental results on pion rapidity spectra. We describe a simple model of the hadronization and discuss its consequences regarding the pion multiplicity and the increasing entropy condition.
Using a fluid dynamical scenario for $pp$ scattering at 7 TeV, we compute correlation functions for $π^+π^+$ pairs. Femtoscopic radii are extracted based on three-dimensional parametrizations of the correlation functions. We study the radii as a function of the transverse momenta of the pairs, for different multiplicity classes, corresponding to recent experimental results from ALICE. We find the same decrease of the radii with $k_T$, more and more pronounced with increasing multiplicity, but absent for the lowest multiplicities. In the model we understand this as transition from string expans…
Event-by-event multiplicity fluctuations in nucleus-nucleus collisions are studied within the relativistic transport models: EPOS, PHSD, and UrQMD. As measures of particle number fluctuations we consider the scaled variances $ω[X]$ for positive, negative, and all charged hadrons, and the strongly intensive quantities $Δ[K^+,π^+],$ $Σ[K^+,π^+]$ for $K^+$ and $π^+$ yields. At the SPS energy range the fluctuation measures are calculated for proton-proton, Ar+Sc, and Pb+Pb collisions. Comparison with recent NA61/SHINE and older NA49 measurements of the multiplicity fluctuations is done. A validity…
The transverse momentum ($p_{T}$) distribution of strange hadrons ($K_{S}^{0}$ and $Λ$) and multi-strange hadrons( $Ξ$ and $Ω$) measured in p$-$p, p$-$Pb, and Pb$-$Pb collisions at LHC energies have been studied for different multiplicity classes using Tsallis-Weibull (or q$-$Weibull)formalism. The distribution describes the measured $p_{T}$ spectra for all multiplicity (or centrality)classes. The multiplicity dependence of the extracted parameters are studied for the mentioned collisions systems. The $λ$ parameter was observed to increase systematically with the collision multiplicity and fol…
By deriving a general expression for multiplicity distribution (a conditional probability distribution) in statistical model, we demonstrate the mismatches between experimental measurements and previous theoretical calculations on multiplicity fluctuations. From the corrected formula, we develop an improved baseline measure for multiplicity distribution under Poisson approximation in statistical model to replace the traditional Poisson expectations. We find that the ratio of the mean multiplicity to the corresponding reference multiplicity are crucial to systemically explaining the measured sc…
In this work, we study the centrality as well as transverse momentum dependence of the dihadron correlation for Au+Au collisions at 200A GeV. The numerical simulations are carried out by using a hydrodynamical code NeXSPheRIO, where the initial conditions are obtained from a Regge-Gribov based microscopic model, NeXuS. In our calculations, the centrality windows are evaluated regarding multiplicity. The final correlations are obtained by the background subtraction via ZYAM methods, where higher harmonics are also considered explicitly. The correlations are evaluated for the 0 - 20\%, 20\%-40\%…
We investigate the multiplicity fluctuations observed in high-energy nuclear collisions attributing them to intrinsic fluctuations of temperature of the hadronizing system formed in such processes. To account for these fluctuations we replace the usual Boltzmann-Gibbs (BG) statistics by the non-extensive Tsallis statistics characterized by the nonextensivity parameter q, with |q-1| being a direct measure of fluctuations. In the limit of vanishing fluctuations, q --> 1 and Tsallis statistics converges to the usual BG. We evaluate the nonextensivity parameter q and its dependence on the hadroniz…
Event-by-event fluctuations and correlations between particles produced in relativistic nuclear collisions are studied. The fluctuations in positive, negative, total and net charge are closely related through correlations. In the event of a phase transitions to a quark-gluon plasma, fluctuations in total and net charge can be enhanced and reduced respectively which, however, is very sensitive to the acceptance and centrality. If the colliding system experiences strong density fluctuations due, e.g., to droplet formation in a first-order phase transition, all fluctuations can be enhanced substa…
