The multihadron production in nucleus-nucleus collisions and its interrelation with that in (anti)proton-proton interactions are studied by exploring the charged particle mean multiplicity collision-energy and centrality dependencies in the measurements to date. The study is performed in the framework of the recently proposed effective-energy approach which, under the proper scaling of the collision energy, combines the constituent quark picture with Landau relativistic hydrodynamics counting for the centrality-defined effective energy of participants and relating different types of collisions. Within this approach, the multiplicity energy dependence and the pseudorapidity spectra from the most central nuclear collisions are well reproduced. The study of the multiplicity centrality dependence reveals a new scaling between the measured pseudorapidity spectra and the calculations. By means of this scaling, called the energy balanced limiting fragmentation scaling, one reproduces the pseudorapidity spectra for all centralities. The scaling elucidates some differences in the multiplicity and midrapidity density centrality dependence obtained at RHIC and LHC. These findings reveal an inherent similarity in the multiplicity energy dependence from the most central collisions and centrality data. A new regime in heavy-ion collisions to occur at about a TeV energy is indicated, similar to that observed in the earlier studies of the midrapidity densities. Predictions are made for the mean multiplicities to be measured in proton-proton and heavy-ion collisions at the LHC.

The modeling of jet substructure significantly differs between Parton Shower Monte Carlo (PSMC) programs. Despite this, we observe that machine learning classifiers trained on different PSMCs learn nearly the same function. This means that when these classifiers are applied to the same PSMC for testing, they result in nearly the same performance. This classifier universality indicates that a machine learning model trained on one simulation and tested on another simulation (or data) will likely be optimal. Our observations are based on detailed studies of shallow and deep neural networks applie…
Heavy-ion collisions at ultra-relativistic energies provide extreme conditions of energy density and temperature to produce a deconfined state of quarks and gluons. Xenon (Xe) being a deformed nucleus further gives access to the effect of initial geometry on final state particle production. This study focuses on the effect of nuclear deformation and hadron cascade-time on the particle production and elliptic flow using A Multi-Phase Transport (AMPT) model in Xe+Xe collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 5.44 TeV. We explore the effect of hadronic cascade-time on identified particle production thro…
In the framework of the type-II Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM-II) a charged Higgs search strategy is presented for the dominant production mode $gb \rightarrow tH^\pm$ at the 14 TeV LHC. We consider the decay process which includes $t \rightarrow bW^\pm$ and $H^\pm \rightarrow AW^\pm$, and a fully hadronic final state consisting of $bb\bar{b}+\mbox{jets}+X$. Dictated by the $b \rightarrow sγ$ constraints which render $M_{H^\pm} > 480$ GeV we study two scenarios in which the charged Higgs mass is 750 GeV and the pseudoscalar Higgs mass is 200 GeV and 500 GeV. In this mass scheme highly boosted …
The addition of the QCD axion to the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) not only solves the strong CP problem but also modifies the dark sector with new dark matter candidates. While SUSY axion phenomenology is usually restricted to searches for the axion itself or searches for the ordinary SUSY particles, this work focuses on scenarios where the axion's superpartner, the axino, may be detectable at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the decays of neutralinos displaced from the primary vertex. In particular, we focus on the KSVZ axino within the hadronic axion window. The decay lengt…
Recently, Belle Collaboration has reported the measurement of the spin-flipping transition $Υ(4S) \to h_b(1P)η$ with an unexpectedly large branching ratio: $\mathcal{B}(Υ(4S) \to h_b(1P)η) =(2.18\pm 0.11\pm 0.18)\times 10^{-3}$. Such a large branching fraction contradicts with the anticipated suppression for the spin flip. In this work, we examine the effects induced by intermediate bottomed meson loops and point out that these effects are significantly important. Using the effective Lagrangian approach (ELA), we find the experimental data on $Υ(4S) \to h_b(1P)η$ can be accommodated with the r…
Exploring CP violation with $B_s^0 \to \bar{D^0} ϕ$ decays
我们注意到,从衰变$B_s^0(t) (\bar B_s^0 (t)) \to \bar D^0 ϕwithout any hadronic uncertainties. These decays are described by the color suppressed tree diagrams and hence are free from the penguin pollutions. We further demonstrate that γcan also be extracted with no hadronic uncertainties from an angular analysis of corresponding vector vector modes, $ B_s^0(t)(\bar B_s^0(t))\to \bar D^{* 0} $. Although the branching ratios for these decay modes are quite small $ { \cal O}(10^{-5}-10 ^{-6})$的随时间变化的测量中确定弱相γ是可能的,这里提出的策略似乎对强子B工厂的“第二代”实验特别有意义。
Predictions from widely-used neutrino-nucleus interaction event generators are compared to measurements of transverse kinematic imbalances, made by both the T2K and MINERvA experiments, to allow a joint characterisation of the nuclear physics processes responsible for some of the largest uncertainties in measurements of neutrino oscillations. The role of nucleon-nucleon correlations, initial state nucleon Fermi motion and hadronic re-interactions inside the nuclear medium are explored and areas requiring more theoretical input are identified.
In this work, we investigate the hadronic loop contributions to the $Υ(6S) \to χ_{bJ} ϕ~(J=0,1,2)$ along with $Υ(6S) \to χ_{bJ} ω~(J=0,1,2)$ transitions. We predict that the branching ratios of $Υ(6S) \to χ_{b0} ϕ$, $Υ(6S) \to χ_{b1} ϕ$ and $Υ(6S) \to χ_{b2} ϕ$ are $(0.68 \sim 4.62) \times 10^{-6}$, $(0.50 \sim 3.43) \times 10^{-6}$ and $(2.22 \sim 15.18) \times 10^{-6}$, respectively and those of $Υ(6S) \to χ_{b0} ω$, $Υ(6S) \to χ_{b1} ω$ and $Υ(6S) \to χ_{b2} ω$ are $(0.15 \sim 2.81) \times 10^{-3}$, $(0.63 \sim 11.68) \times 10^{-3}$ and $(1.08 \sim 20.02) \times 10^{-3}$, respectively. Esp…
Understanding the spin structure of the proton is one of the main challenges in hadronic physics. While the concepts of spin and orbital angular momentum are pretty clear in the context of non-relativistic quantum mechanics, the generalization of these concepts to quantum field theory encounters serious difficulties. It is however possible to define meaningful decompositions of the proton spin that are (in principle) measurable. We propose a summary of the present situation including recent developments and prospects of future developments.

Anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (muon g-2) is one of the most precisely measured quantities in particle physics. At the same time, it can be evaluated in the Standard Model with an unprecedented accuracy. The Muon g-2 experiment at Fermilab has started the major data collection and the aimed four-fold increase in precision will shed light on the current discrepancy between the theory prediction and the measured value. This renders a comparable improvement of the precision in the SM theory an essential ingredient in order to fully exploit the expected increase of precision in experimental…
The prediction of properties of the low energy portion of the hadronic spectrum is a challenging task which, up to day, is still tentatively given due to the non-perturbative nature of QCD at low energies. In this paper we are exploring the validity of the SO(4) scheme, as representative of the fundamental QCD structure of meson-like states in the region below 2.5 GeV. We have focussed the attention in the calculation of the energy and width of states of various spin, isospin and parities. The theoretical results are compared, sistematically, to the available experimental information.

We examine scenarios in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM), where pair-produced squarks and gluinos decay via two cascades, each ending in a stable neutralino as Lightest Supersymmetric Particle (LSP) and a Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs boson, with mass spectra such that the missing transverse energy, $E_{T}^{\text{miss}}$, is very small. Performing two-dimensional parameter scans and focusing on the hadronic $H\rightarrow b\bar{b}$ decay giving a $b\bar{b}b\bar{b} + E_{T}^{\text{miss}}$ final state we explore the sensitivity of a current LHC general-purpose jets+$E_{T}…
We extend the Parton-Hadron-String Dynamics (PHSD) transport approach in the partonic sector by explicitly calculating the total and differential partonic scattering cross sections as a function of temperature $T$ and baryon chemical potential $μ_B$ on the basis of the effective propagators and couplings from the Dynamical QuasiParticle Model (DQPM) that is matched to reproduce the equation of state of the partonic system above the deconfinement temperature $T_c$ from lattice QCD. The ratio of shear viscosity $η$ over entropy density $s$, i.e. $η/s$, is evaluated using the collisional widths a…
In the absence of a global description of the experimental data on elastic and soft diffractive scattering from the first principles of QCD, model-independent analyses may provide useful phenomenological insights for the development of the theory in the soft sector. With that in mind, we present an empirical study on the energy dependence of the ratio $X$ between the elastic and total cross sections; a quantity related to the evolution of the hadronic central opacity. The dataset comprises all the experimental information available on proton-proton and antiproton-proton scattering in the c.m. …
Proton-proton (pp) collisions have been traditionally used as a baseline measurement in the search for a deconfined state of matter in heavy-ion collisions at ultrarelativistic energies. The unprecedented collision energies that are available at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Laboratory for Nuclear Research (CERN) have illuminated new challenges in understanding the possible formation of droplets of this deconfined matter of partonic degrees of freedom in hadronic collisions, especially in high-multiplicity events. Enhancement of multi-strange particles compared to pions, degr…
In high-energy hadron-hadron collisions, the dependence of the total cross-section ($σ_{tot}$) with the energy still constitutes an open problem for QCD. Phenomenological analyses usually relies on analytic parameterizations provided by the Regge-Gribov formalism and fits to the experimental data. In this framework, the singularities of the scattering amplitude in the complex angular momentum plane determine the asymptotic behavior of $σ_{tot}$ in terms of the energy. Usual applications connect simple and triple pole singularities with asymptotic power and logarithmic-squared functions of the …
An accurate knowledge of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) is an essential ingredient of high energy physics calculations when the processes are involving nuclei in the initial state. It is well known now that the prompt photon production both in hadronic and nuclear collisions is a powerful tool for exploring the parton densities in the nucleon and nuclei especially of the gluon. In this work, we are going to perform a comprehensive study of the isolated prompt photon production in $ p $-Pb collisions at backward rapidities to find the best kinematic regions in which the experimen…
