We investigate schemes for Hamiltonian parameter estimation of a two-level system using repeated measurements in a fixed basis. The simplest (Fourier based) schemes yield an estimate with a mean square error (MSE) that decreases at best as a power law ~N^{-2} in the number of measurements N. By contrast, we present numerical simulations indicating that an adaptive Bayesian algorithm, where the time between measurements can be adjusted based on prior measurement results, yields a MSE which appears to scale close to \exp(-0.3 N). That is, measurements in a single fixed basis are sufficient to achieve exponential scaling in N.
We report the simultaneous operation and two-qubit coupling measurement of a pair of two-electron spin qubits that are actively decoupled from quasistatic nuclear noise in a GaAs quadruple quantum dot array. Coherent Rabi oscillations of both qubits (decay time $\approx$2 μs; frequency few MHz) are achieved by continuously tuning the drive frequency using rapidly converging real-time Hamiltonian estimators. By state conditional exchange oscillation measurements, we also observe strong two-qubit capacitive interaction (> 190 MHz). We show that the scaling of the capacitive interaction with resp…
Quantum state on Bloch sphere for superconducting charge qubit, phase qubit and flux qubit for all time in absence of external drive is stable to initial state. By driving the qubits, approximation of charge and flux Hamiltonian lead to quantum state rotation in Bloch sphere around an axis completely differ from rotation vector of exact Hamiltonian. The trajectory of quantum state for phase qubit for approximated and exact Hamiltonian is the same but the expectation of quantum observable has considerable errors as two other qubits. microwave drive control is designed for approximated Hamiltoni…
Deriving quantum error correction and quantum control from the Schrodinger equation for a unified qubit-environment Hamiltonian will give insights into how microscopic degrees of freedom affect the capability to control and correct quantum information beyond that of phenomenological theory. Here, we investigate the asymptotic reduced state of two qubits coupled to each other solely via a common heat bath of linear harmonic oscillators and search for evidence of fault-tolerant excited qubit states. We vary the Hamiltonian parameters, including the qubit-qubit and qubit-bath detuning, the bath s…
We examine the problem of determining if a 2-local Hamiltonian is stoquastic by local basis changes. We analyze this problem for two-qubit Hamiltonians, presenting some basic tools and giving a concrete example where using unitaries beyond Clifford rotations is required in order to decide stoquasticity. We report on simple results for $n$-qubit Hamiltonians with identical 2-local terms on bipartite graphs. Our most significant result is that we give an efficient algorithm to determine whether an arbitrary $n$-qubit XYZ Heisenberg Hamiltonian is stoquastic by local basis changes.
An open question in designing superconducting quantum circuits is how best to reduce the full circuit Hamiltonian which describes their dynamics to an effective two-level qubit Hamiltonian which is appropriate for manipulation of quantum information. Despite advances in numerical methods to simulate the spectral properties of multi-element superconducting circuits, the literature lacks a consistent and effective method of determining the effective qubit Hamiltonian. Here we address this problem by introducing a novel local basis reduction method. This method does not require any ad hoc assumpt…
We examine the problem of determining whether a multi-qubit two-local Hamiltonian can be made stoquastic by single-qubit unitary transformations. We prove that when such a Hamiltonian contains one-local terms, then this task can be NP-hard. This is shown by constructing a class of Hamiltonians for which performing this task is equivalent to deciding $3$-SAT. In contrast, we show that when such a Hamiltonian contains no one-local terms then this task is easy, namely we present an algorithm which decides, in a number of arithmetic operations over $\mathbb{R}$ which is polynomial in the number of…
Common flux qubit readout schemes are qubit dominated, meaning they measure in the energy eigenbasis of the qubit. For various applications meausrements in a basis different from the energy eigenbasis are required. Here we present an indirect measurement protocol, which is detector dominated instead of qubit dominated, yielding a projective measurements in the persistent current basis for arbitrary bias points. We show that with our setup it is possible to perform a quantum nondemolition measurement (QND) in the persistent current basis at all flux bias points with fidelities reaching almost 1…
On the practicality of time-optimal two-qubit Hamiltonian simulation
使用一组控制哈密顿量来获得所需的相互作用的时间最优方法是什么?Vidal,Hammerer and Cirac [Phys. Rev. Lett.
Quantum gates (unitary gates) on physical systems are usually implemented by controlling the Hamiltonian dynamics. When full descriptions of the Hamiltonians parameters is available, the set of implementable quantum gates is easily characterised by quantum control theory. In many real systems, however, the Hamiltonians may include unknown parameters due to the difficulty of precise measurements or instability of the system. In this paper, we consider the situation that some parameters of the Hamiltonian are unknown, but we still want to perform a robust control of a quantum gate irrespectively…
Learning Hamiltonian of a quantum system is indispensable for prediction of the system dynamics and realization of high fidelity quantum gates. However, it is a significant challenge to efficiently characterize the Hamiltonian when its Hilbert space dimension grows exponentially with the system size. Here, we experimentally demonstrate an adaptive method to learn the effective Hamiltonian of an 11-qubit quantum system consisting of one electron spin and ten nuclear spins associated with a single Nitrogen-Vacancy center in a diamond. We validate the estimated Hamiltonian by designing universal …
Qubitization is a modern approach to estimate Hamiltonian eigenvalues without simulating its time evolution. While in this way approximation errors are avoided, its resource and gate requirements are more extensive: qubitization requires additional qubits to store information about the Hamiltonian, and Toffoli gates to probe them throughout the routine. Recently, it was shown that storing the Hamiltonian in a unary representation can alleviate the need for such gates in one of the qubitization subroutines. Building on that principle, we develop an entirely new decomposition of the entire algor…
It is natural to measure the observables from the Hamiltonian-based quantum dynamics, and its inverse process that Hamiltonians are estimated from the measured data also is a vital topic. In this work, we propose a recurrent neural network to learn the parameters of the target Hamiltonians from the temporal records of single-qubit measurements. The method does not require the assumption of ground states and only measures single-qubit observables. It is applicable on both time-independent and time-dependent Hamiltonians and can simultaneously capture the magnitude and sign of Hamiltonian parame…
We derive the Hamiltonian of a superconducting circuit that comprises a single-Josephson-junction flux qubit inductively coupled to an LC oscillator, and we compare the derived circuit Hamiltonian with the quantum Rabi Hamiltonian, which describes a two-level system coupled to a harmonic oscillator. We show that there is a simple, intuitive correspondence between the circuit Hamiltonian and the quantum Rabi Hamiltonian. While there is an overall shift of the entire spectrum, the energy level structure of the circuit Hamiltonian up to the seventh excited states can still be fitted well by the q…
