The Polyakov loop is included in the SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R chiral quark-meson model by considering the propagation of the constituent quarks, coupled to the (sigma,pi) meson multiplet, on the homogeneous background of a temporal gauge field, diagonal in color space. The model is solved at finite temperature and quark baryon chemical potential both in the chiral limit and for the physical value of the pion mass by using an expansion in the number of flavors N_f. Keeping the fermion propagator at its tree-level, a resummation on the pion propagator is constructed which resums infinitely many orders in 1/N_f, where O(1/N_f) represents the order at which the fermions start to contribute in the pion propagator. The influence of the Polyakov loop on the tricritical or the critical point in the mu_q-T phase diagram is studied for various forms of the Polyakov loop potential.
Thermodynamical properties of asymmetric strange quark matter using the Polyakov Chiral $\text{SU(3)}$ quark mean field (PCQMF) model at finite temperature and chemical potential have been investigated. Within the PCQMF model, the properties of quark matter are calculated through the scalar fields $σ$, $ζ$, $δ$ and $χ$, the vector fields $ω$, $ρ$ and $ϕ$ and the Polyakov loop fields $Φ$ and $\barΦ$. The isospin splitting of constituent quark masses is observed at large isospin asymmetry. The effect of temperature and strangeness fraction on energy per baryon and equation of state is found to b…
Deconfinement and chiral restoration within the SU(3) Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio and entangled Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio models in an external magnetic field
We calculate the transport coefficients, drag and momentum diffusion, of a heavy quark in a thermalized plasma of light quarks in the background of Polyakov loop. Quark thermal mass and the gluon Debye mass are calculated in a non-trivial Polyakov loop background. The constituent quark masses and the Polyakov loop is estimated within a Polyakov loop quark meson (PQM) model. The relevant scattering amplitudes for heavy quark and light partons in the background of Polyakov loop has been estimated within the matrix model. We have also compared the results with the Polyakov loop parameter estimate…
The aim of this work is to shed light on some lesser known aspects of Polyakov-loop--extended chiral models (namely the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio and Quark-Meson models), especially on the correlation of the quark sector with the Polyakov loop. We show that the ordering of chiral and Polyakov-loop transitions and their difference in temperature as seen in lattice QCD calculations could be realized with a critical scale of the Polyakov-loop potential that is larger than the one in pure gauge theory. The comparison of the results for the Polyakov-loop susceptibility obtained usi…
Within the framework of Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and by means of Multiple Reflection Expansion, we study the finite volume effects on chiral phase transition, especially its influence on the location of the possible critical end point (CEP) and masses of mesons. Our result shows that as the radius of spherical volume decreases, the location of CEP shifts toward smaller temperature while changes little in chemical potential. As for the finite volume effects on the masses of mesons, the masses of $π$ and $K$ increase with decreasing volume, while for $σ$, $η$ and $η'$ the situation is t…
We estimate the temperature dependence of the gluon condensate from the Polyakov loop effective potential. It is presented how this analytic approach provides a simple picture for the electric gluon condensate around the deconfinement temperature, showing that it drops to zero in a temperature range which is in good agreement with different pure gauge lattice results.
We study the thermodynamics and phase diagrams of two-flavor quantum chromodynamics using the Polyakov-loop extended quark-meson (PQM) model and the Pisarski-Skokov chiral matrix ($χM$) model. At temperatures up to $T\approx2T_c$ and baryon chemical potentials up to $μ_B=400\ \rm{MeV}$, both models show reasonable agreement with the pressure, energy density, and interaction measure as calculated on the lattice. The Polyakov loop is found to rise significantly faster with temperature in models than on the lattice. In the low-temperature and high baryon density regime, the two models predict dif…
Using vector and axial-vector correlators within finite energy sum rules with inputs from a chiral quark model, coupled to the Polyakov loop, with nonlocal vector interactions, we extend our previous work to confirm the equivalence between the continuum threshold $s_0$ and the trace of the Polyakov loop $Φ$ as order parameters for the deconfinement transition at finite temperature $T$ and quark chemical potential $μ$. The obtained results are in agreement with our initial conclusion, where we showed that $s_0(T,μ)$ and $Φ(T,μ)$ provide the same information for the QCD deconfinement transition.
We explore the phase diagram and the modification of mesonic observables in a hot and dense medium using the (2+1) Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. We present the phase diagram in the ($T,\,μ_B$)-plane, with its isentropic trajectories, paying special attention to the chiral critical end point (CEP). Chiral and deconfinement transitions are examined. The modifications of mesonic observables in the medium are explored as a tool to analyze the effective restoration of chiral symmetry for different regions of the phase diagram. It is shown that the meson masses, namely that of the kaons, change…
Unquenching of the Polyakov-loop potential showed to be an important improvement for the description of the phase structure and thermodynamics of strongly-interacting matter at zero quark chemical potentials with Polyakov-loop extended chiral models. This work constitutes the first application of the quark backreaction on the Polyakov-loop potential at nonzero density. The observation is that it links the chiral and deconfinement phase transition also at small temperatures and large quark chemical potentials. The build up of the surface tension in the Polyakov-loop extended Quark-Meson model i…
Dual meson condensates as possible order parameters for deconfinement are investigated in a Polyakov-loop enhanced linear sigma model of QCD at both zero and finite isospin chemical potential $μ_I$. We find that the rapid rise of the dual sigma condensate (corresponding to the dressed Polyakov-loop) with $T$ is driven by the chiral transition, no matter whether the Polyakov-loop dynamics is included or not. For $μ_I>m_π/2$, the dual sigma condensate shows abnormal thermal behavior which even decreases with $T$ below the melting temperature $T_c^{I_3}$ of pion superfluidity; On the other hand, …
In the heavy, static quark mass regime of QCD, the Polyakov loop is well known to be an order parameter of the deconfinement phase transition; however, the sensitivity of the Polyakov loop to the deconfinement of light, dynamical quarks is less clear. On the other hand, from the perspective of an effective Lagrangian written in the vicinity of the chiral transition, the Polyakov loop is an energy-like operator and should hence scale as any energy-like operator would. We show here that the Polyakov loop and heavy-quark free energy are sensitive to the chiral transition, i.e. their scaling is co…
