We propose a conductance measurement to detect the backscattering of chiral Majorana edge states. Because normal and Andreev processes have equal probability for backscattering of a single chiral Majorana edge state, there is qualitative difference from backscattering of a chiral Dirac edge state, giving rise to half-integer Hall conductivity and decoupling of fluctuation in incoming and outgoing modes. The latter can be detected through thermal noise measurement. These experimental signatures of Majorana fermions are robust at finite temperature and do not require the size of the backscattering region to be mesoscopic.
It is known that the conductance of a quantum point contact is quantized in units of $2e^2/h$ and this quantization is destroyed by a non-adiabatic scatterer in the point contact, due to backscattering. Recently, it was shown [Phys. Rev. Lett. 71, 137 (1993)] that taking many non-adiabatic scatterers periodically in a quantum channel, the quantization can be recovered. We study this conductance quantization of a periodic system in the presence of a strong defect. A periodic arrangement of double-stubs give remarkable quantization of conductance. A periodic arrangement of double-constrictions a…
Time-reversal symmetry suppresses electron backscattering in a quantum-spin-Hall edge, yielding quantized conductance at zero temperature. Understanding the dominant corrections in finite-temperature experiments remains an unsettled issue. We study a novel mechanism for conductance suppression: backscattering caused by incoherent electromagnetic noise. Specifically, we show that an electric potential fluctuating randomly in time can backscatter electrons inelastically without constraints faced by electron-electron interactions. We quantify noise-induced corrections to the dc conductance in var…
Elastic backscattering of electrons moving along the helical edge is prohibited by time-reversal symmetry (TRS). We demonstrate, however, that an ensemble of magnetic impurities may cause TRS-preserving quasi-elastic backscattering, resulting in interference effects in the conductance. The characteristic energy transferred in a backscattering event is suppressed due to the RKKY interaction of localized spins (the suppression is exponential in the total number of magnetic impurities). We predict the statistics of conductance fluctuations to differ from those in the conventional case of a one-di…
It is well known that while forward scattering has no effect on the conductance of one-dimensional systems, backscattering off a static impurity suppresses the current. We study the effect of a time-dependent point impurity on the conductance of a one-channel quantum wire. At strong repulsive interaction (Luttinger liquid parameter g<1/2), backscattering renders the linear conductance greater than its value e^2/h in the absence of the impurity. A possible experimental realization of our model is a constricted quantum wire or a constricted Hall bar at fractional filling factors nu=1/(2n+1) with…
Thermoelectric conductance of Dirac materials and in particular zero modes reveals the effect of topology .Weyl semimetals with a boundary at z = 0 give rise to chiral zero modes with- out backscattering resulting in a significant contribution to thermal conductivity. By doping the surface with paramagnetic impurities backscattering is allowed, and the thermal conductivity is controlled by the decrease of the transmission function |t|^{2} < 1. We attach a thermal reservoir at the edge of the sample and study the thermal and electrical conductance. For the ballistic and mesoscopic situations, q…
We demonstrate a scanning gate grid measurement technique consisting in measuring the conductance of a quantum point contact (QPC) as a function of gate voltage at each tip position. Unlike conventional scanning gate experiments, it allows investigating QPC conductance plateaus affected by the tip at these positions. We compensate the capacitive coupling of the tip to the QPC and discover that interference fringes coexist with distorted QPC plateaus. We spatially resolve the mode structure for each plateau.
Transport by helical edge states of a quantum spin Hall insulator is experimentally characterized by a weakly temperature-dependent mean free path of a few microns and by reproducible conductance oscillations, challenging proposed theoretical explanations. We consider a model where edge electrons experience spatially random Rashba spin-orbit coupling and couple to a magnetic impurity with spin S >= 1/2. In a finite bias steady state, we find for S > 1/2 an impurity induced resistance with a temperature dependence in agreement with experiments. Since backscattering is elastic, interference betw…
We evaluate the low-temperature conductance of a weakly interacting one-dimensional helical liquid without axial spin symmetry. The lack of that symmetry allows for inelastic backscattering of a single electron, accompanied by forward-scattering of another. This joint effect of weak interactions and potential scattering off impurities results in a temperature-dependent deviation from the quantized conductance, $δG \propto T^4$. In addition, $δG$ is sensitive to the position of the Fermi level. We determine numerically the parameters entering our generic model for the Bernevig-Hughes-Zhang Hami…
Majorana zero modes can appear at the wire ends of a 1D topological superconductor and manifest themselves as a quantized zero-bias conductance peak in the tunneling spectroscopy of normal-superconductor junctions. However, in superconductor-semiconductor hybrid nanowires, zero-bias conductance peaks may arise owing to topologically trivial mechanisms as well, mimicking the Majorana-induced topological peak in many aspects. In this work, we systematically investigate the characteristics of zero-bias conductance peaks for topological Majorana bound states, trivial quasi-Majorana bound states an…
We present the results of million atom electronic quantum transport calculations for graphene nanoconstrictions with edges that are smooth apart from atomic scale steps. We find conductances quantized in integer multiples of 2e2/h and a plateau at ~0.5*2e2/h as in recent experiments [Tombros et al., Nature Physics 7, 697 (2011)]. We demonstrate that, surprisingly, conductances quantized in integer multiples of 2e2/h occur even for strongly non-adiabatic electron backscattering at the stepped edges that lowers the conductance by one or more conductance quanta below the adiabatic value. We also …

Majorana zero-modes hold great promise for topological quantum computing. Tunnelling spectroscopy in electrical transport is the primary tool to identify the presence of Majorana zero-modes, for instance as a zero-bias peak (ZBP) in differential-conductance. The Majorana ZBP-height is predicted to be quantized at the universal conductance value of 2e2/h at zero temperature. Interestingly, this quantization is a direct consequence of the famous Majorana symmetry, 'particle equals antiparticle'. The Majorana symmetry protects the quantization against disorder, interactions, and variations in the…
We study charge and spin transport through an interacting quantum wire, caused by backscattering off an effective impurity potential with a periodic time-dependence. The adiabatic regime of this pump for charge and spin is shown to depend on the presence of interactions in the wire. Using symmetry and scaling properties of the quantum wire Hamiltonian we relate the charge $Q$ and spin $S$ transported through the wire in a period to an integral involving quasi-static backscattering conductances. We also show that the pumped charge $Q$ (or the spin $S$) is quantized in the adiabatic limit if the…
We study a one-dimensional helical system with random Rashba spin-orbit coupling. Using renor- malization group methods, we derive a consistent set of flow equations governing the important con- trol parameters of the backscattering process. Thereby, we prove the existence of disorder-induced two-particle backscattering that can even be non-local in space. This analysis allows us to derive the scaling form of the conductance at low temperatures. We find that two-particle backscattering due to random spin-orbit coupling differs from the one off a single Rashba impurity by both the scaling of th…
Thermoelectric conductance of an edge mode is investigated. The edge modes of a $2D $ and $3D$ two band model with parabolic dispersion is considered. For the the one dimensional non interacting fermions the thermal conductivity computed agrees with the result known from $Bosonization$ computations. In the presence of a magnetic field, backscattering is allowed and controls the value of the thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity is obtained from the continuity equation of thermal current energy conservation. The thermal conductivity is computed introducing the $Scattering$ matrix for p…
We calculate the linear conductance of a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG)-based junction between a normal semiconductor section and a hybrid semiconductor-superconductor section, under perpendicular magnetic field. We consider two important terms often neglected in the literature, the magneto-orbital and transverse Rashba spin-orbit. The strong orbital effect due to the magnetic field yields topological phase transitions to nontrivial phases hosting Majorana modes in the hybrid section. The presence of a potential barrier at the junction interface reveals the Majorana phases as quantized pl…
We predict conductance oscillations in a quantum-anomalous Hall 2d strip having a superconducting region of length $L_x$ with a chiral Majorana mode. These oscillations require a finite transverse extension of the strip $L_y$ of a few microns or less. Measuring the conductance periodicity with $L_x$ and a fixed bias, or with bias and a fixed $L_x$, yields the speed of the chiral Majorana mode. The physical mechanism behind the oscillations is the interference between backscattered chiral modes from second to first interface of the NSN double junction. The interferometer effect is enhanced by t…
We study backscattering of electrons and conductance suppression in a helical edge channel in two-dimensional topological insulators with broken axial spin symmetry in the presence of nonmagnetic point defects that create bound states. In this system the tunneling coupling of the edge and bound states results in the formation of composite helical edge states in which all four partners of both Kramers pairs of the conventional helical edge states and bound states are mixed. The backscattering is considered as a result of inelastic two-particle scattering of electrons, which are in these composi…
We consider a simple conceptual question with respect to Majorana zero modes in semiconductor nanowires: Can the measured non-ideal values of the zero-bias-conductance-peak in the tunneling experiments be used as a characteristic to predict the underlying topological nature of the proximity induced nanowire superconductivity? In particular, we define and calculate the topological visibility, which is a variation of the topological invariant associated with the scattering matrix of the system as well as the zero-bias-conductance-peak heights in the tunneling measurements, in the presence of dis…
Trivial Andreev bound states arising from chemical potential variations could lead to zero-bias tunneling conductance peaks at finite magnetic fields in class $D$ nanowires, precisely mimicking the predicted zero-bias conductance peaks arising from the topological Majorana bound states. This finding raises a serious question on the efficacy of using zero-bias tunneling conductance peaks, by themselves, as evidence supporting the existence of topological Majorana bound states in nanowires. In the current work, we provide specific experimental protocols for tunneling spectroscopy measure- ments …
We analyze the conductance of a one-dimensional topological superconductor periodically driven to host Floquet Majorana zero-modes for different configurations of coupling to external leads. We compare the conductance of constantly coupled leads, as in standard transport experiments, with the stroboscopic conductance of pulsed coupling to leads used to identify a scattering matrix topological index for periodically driven systems. We find that the sum of DC conductance at voltages multiples of the driving frequency is quantitatively close to the stroboscopic conductance at all voltage biases. …
We develop a theory for the three-terminal nonlocal conductance in Majorana nanowires as existing in the superconductor-semiconductor hybrid structures in the presence of superconducting proximity, spin-orbit coupling, and Zeeman splitting. The key question addressed is whether such nonlocal conductance can decisively distinguish between trivial and topological Majorana scenarios in the presence of chemical potential inhomogeneity and random impurity disorder. We calculate the local electrical as well as nonlocal electrical and thermal conductance of the pristine nanowire (good zero-bias condu…
We show that partially separated Andreev bound states (ps-ABSs), comprised of pairs of overlapping Majorana bound states (MBSs) emerging in quantum dot-semiconductor-superconductor heterostructures, produce robust zero bias conductance plateaus in end-of-wire charge tunneling experiments. These plateaus remain quantized at $2e^2/h$ over large ranges of experimental control parameters. In light of recent experiments reporting the observation of robust $2e^2/h$-quantized conductance plateaus in local charge tunneling experiments, we perform extensive numerical calculations to explicitly show tha…
We exploit the biased tip of a scanning gate microscope (SGM) to induce a controlled backscattering between counter-propagating edge channels in a wide constriction in the quantum Hall regime. We compare our detailed conductance maps with a numerical percolation model and demonstrate that conductance fluctuations observed in these devices as a function of the gate voltage originate from backscattering events mediated by localized states pinned by potential fluctuations. Our imaging technique allows us to identify the necessary conditions for the activation of these backscattering processes and…
Semiconductor nanowires with strong spin-orbit coupling and proximity-induced s-wave superconductivity in an external magnetic field have been the most promising settings for approaches towards experimental evidence of topological Majorana zero-modes. We investigate the effect of tilting the magnetic field relative to the spin-orbit coupling direction in a simple continuum model and provide an analytical derivation of the critical angle, at which the topological states disappear. We also obtain the differential conductance characteristic of a junction with a normal wire for different tilting a…
Superconducting wires without time-reversal and spin-rotation symmetries can be driven into a topological phase that supports Majorana bound states. Direct detection of these zero-energy states is complicated by the proliferation of low-lying excitations in a disordered multi-mode wire. We show that the phase transition itself is signaled by a quantized thermal conductance and electrical shot noise power, irrespective of the degree of disorder. In a ring geometry, the phase transition is signaled by a period doubling of the magnetoconductance oscillations. These signatures directly follow from…
The zero-bias peak (ZBP) is understood as the definite signature of a Majorana bound state (MBS) when attached to a semi-infinite Kitaev nanowire (KNW) nearby zero temperature. However, such characteristics concerning the realization of the KNW constitute a profound experimental challenge. We explore theoretically a QD connected to a topological KNW of finite size at non-zero temperatures and show that overlapped MBSs of the wire edges can become effectively decoupled from each other and the characteristic ZBP can be fully recovered if one tunes the system into the leaked Majorana fermion fixe…
We study transport through a Coulomb blockaded topologically nontrivial superconducting wire (with Majorana end states) contacted by metallic leads. An exact formula for the current through this interacting Majorana single-charge transistor is derived in terms of wire spectral functions. A comprehensive picture follows from three different approaches. We find Coulomb oscillations with universal halving of the finite-temperature peak conductance under strong blockade conditions, where the valley conductance mainly comes from elastic cotunneling. The nonlinear conductance exhibits finite-voltage…
Recent experimental searches for signatures of Majorana-like excitations in proximitized semiconducting nanowires involve conductance spectroscopy, where the evidence sought after is a robust zero-bias peak (in longer wires) and its characteristic field-dependent splitting (in shorter wires). Although experimental results partially confirm the theoretical predictions, commonly observed discrepancies still include (i) a zero-bias peak that is significantly lower than the predicted value of $2e^2/h$ and (ii) the absence of the expected "Majorana oscillations" of the lowest-energy modes at higher…
We show that that the non-equilibrium spin polarization of one dimensional helical edge states at the boundary of a two dimensional topological insulator can dynamically induce a polarization of nuclei via the hyperfine interaction. When combined with a spatially inhomogeneous Rashba coupling, the steady state polarization of the nuclei produces backscattering between the topologically protected edge states leading to a reduction in the conductance which persists to zero temperature. We study these effects in both short and long edges, uncovering deviations from Ohmic transport at finite tempe…
Using the Landau-Zener-Stückelberg-Majorana-type (LZSM) semiclassical approach, we study both graphene and a thin film of a Weyl semimetal subjected to a strong AC electromagnetic field. The spectrum of quasi energies in the Weyl semimetal turns out to be similar to that of a graphene sheet. Earlier it has been predicted qualitatively that the transport properties of strongly-irradiated graphene oscillate as a function of the radiation intensity [S.V. Syzranov et al., Phys. Rev. B 88, 241112 (2013)]. Here we obtain rigorous quantitative results for a driven linear conductance of graphene and a…
Electron transport through the T-shaped quantum-dot (QD) structure is theoretically investigated, by considering a Majorana zero mode coupled to the terminal QD. It is found that in the double-QD case, the presence of the Majorana zero mode can efficiently dissolve the antiresonance point in the conductance spectrum and induce a conductance peak to appear at the same energy position whose value is equal to $e^2/2h$. This antiresonance-resonance change will be suitable to detect the Majorana bound states. Next in the multi-QD case, we observe that in the zero-bias limit, the conductances are al…
Experimental evidence for Majorana bound states largely relies on measurements of the tunneling conductance. While the conductance into a Majorana state is in principle quantized to $2e^2/h$, observation of this quantization has been elusive, presumably due to temperature broadening in the normal-metal lead. Here, we propose to use a superconducting lead instead, whose gap strongly suppresses thermal excitations. For a wide range of tunneling strengths and temperatures, a Majorana state is then signaled by symmetric conductance peaks at $eV=\pmΔ$ with quantized height $G=(4-π)2e^2/h$. For a su…
Magnetotransport measurements in large diameter multiwall carbon nanotubes (20-40 nm) demonstrate the competition of a magnetic-field dependent bandstructure and Altshuler-Aronov-Spivak oscillations. By means of an efficient capacitive coupling to a backgate electrode, the magnetoconductance oscillations are explored as a function of Fermi level shift. Changing the magnetic field orientation with respect to the tube axis and by ensemble averaging, allows to identify the contributions of different Aharonov-Bohm phases. The results are in qualitative agreement with numerical calculations of the …
Motivated by the need to understand and simulate the ubiquitous experimentally-observed zero-bias conductance peaks in superconductor-semiconductor hybrid structures, we theoretically investigate the tunneling conductance spectra in one-dimensional nanowires in proximity to superconductors in a systematic manner taking into account several different physical mechanisms producing zero-bias conductance peaks. The mechanisms we consider are the presence of quantum dots, inhomogeneous potential, random disorder in the chemical potential, random fluctuations in the superconducting gap, and in the e…
We propose an experimental setup of an interferometer for the observation of neutral Majorana fermions on topological insulator - superconductor - ferromagnet junctions. We show that the extended lattice defects naturally present in materials, dislocations, induce spin currents on the edges while keeping the bulk time-reversal symmetry intact. We propose a simple two terminal conductance measurement in an interferometer formed by two edge point contacts, which reveals the nature of Majorana states through the effect of dislocations. The zero temperature magneto-conductance changes from even os…
Chiral $p$-wave superconductor is the primary example of topological systems hosting chiral Majorana edge states. Although candidate materials exist, the conclusive signature of chiral Majorana edge states has not yet been observed in experiments. Here we propose a smoking-gun experiment to detect the chiral Majorana edge states on the basis of theoretical results for the nonlocal conductance in a device consisting of a chiral $p$-wave superconductor and two ferromagnetic leads. The chiral nature of Majorana edge states causes an anomalously long-range and chirality-sensitive nonlocal transpor…
We study the temperature dependence of Coulomb Blockade peak conductance based on a Majorana-hosted superconducting island. In the low-temperature regime, we discover a coherent double Fu-teleportation (FT) process, where any independent tunneling process always involves two coherent FTs; and we also find an anomalous universal scaling behavior, which shows a transition from a [max(T,eV)]^6 to a [max(T,eV)]^3 conductance behavior as increasing energy scale. In the high-temperature regime, using the familiar rate equation method, we find that the conductance is proportional to the reciprocal of…
Motivated by recent experiments that report the almost-generic large-conductance peaks without very extensive fine-tuning, we propose an alternative mechanism through direct theoretical simulations that can explain the large zero-bias conductance peaks being generated on-demand in the nontopological regime in Majorana nanowires by satisfying the following three sufficient conditions: (i) strong potential disorder in the bulk of the nanowire, suppressing the topological regime; (ii) strong suppression of the disorder near the nanowire ends connecting to the tunneling leads, perhaps because of s…
The presence of a Majorana bound state in condensed matter systems is often associated to a zero bias peak in conductance measurements. Here, we analyze a system were this paradigm is violated. A Majorana bound state is always present at the interface between a quantum spin Hall system that is magnetically gapped and a quantum spin Hall system gapped by proximity induced s-wave superconductivity. However, the linear conductance could be either zero or nonzero and quantized depending on the energy and length scales of the barriers. The transition between the two values is reminiscent of the top…
A one-dimensional semiconductor nanowire proximitized by a nearby superconductor may become a topological superconductor hosting localized Majorana zero modes at the two wire ends in the presence of spin-orbit coupling and Zeeman spin splitting (arising from an external magnetic field). The hallmark of the presence of such Majorana zero modes is the appearance of a zero-temperature quantized zero-bias conductance peak in the tunneling spectroscopy of the Majorana nanowire. We theoretically study the temperature and the tunnel coupling dependence of the tunneling conductance in such nanowires t…
In a recent high-quality experimental work on normal metal--superconducting nanowire junctions arXiv:1807.01940 (2018), strong anisotropic suppression of induced superconductivity has been observed in tunnel conductance measurements in the presence of applied magnetic field with variable orientation. Following this finding, we investigate theoretically the dependence of tunnel conductance on the direction of the Zeeman field in order to understand the operational mechanisms and to extract effective system parameters. Second, motivated by a generic discrepancy between experiment and theory, i.e…

The 2D TI edge states are considered within the Volkov-Pankratov (VP) Hamiltonian. A smooth transition between TI and OI is assumed. The edge states are formed in the total gap of homogeneous 2D material. A pair of these states are of linear dispersion, others have gapped Dirac spectra. The optical selection rules are found. The optical transitions between the neighboring edge states appear in the global 2D gap for the in-plane light electric field directed across the edge. The electrons in linear edge states have no backscattering, that is indicative of the fact of topological protection. How…
We study the effects of various symmetry-breaking perturbations on the experimentally measurable signatures (such as conductance and Josephson response) of quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) spin-triplet superconductors. In the first part of the paper, we numerically compute the zero and nonzero temperature conductances of the quasi-1D nanowires that host multiple Majorana zero modes. Following the discussion of the case of s-wave Rashba nanowires, we shift to the main focus, i.e., multichannel spin-triplet superconductors. Applying gate voltages (which changes the symmetry of the spin-orbit cou…
Quantum thermodynamics is a promising route to unambiguous detections of Majorana bound states. Being fundamentally different from quantum transport, this approach reveals unique Majorana thermodynamic behavior and deepens our insight into Majorana quantum transport itself. Here we demonstrate that a nanoscopic system with topological superconductors produces a remarkable accumulation of Majorana thermodynamic states in wide ranges of Majorana tunneling phases by means of increasing its temperature $T$. Revealing this physical behavior is twofold beneficial. First, it significantly reduces the…
In this paper, we investigate the non-Markovian quantum transport dynamics of a two-terminal Majorana device that is made of an asymmetric topological superconducting chain coupled to two leads. This asymmetric superconducting chain is analytically solvable and can be realized by a hybrid system of semiconductor nanowire coupled to superconductors or by 1D transverse-field Ising chains. In such asymmetric superconducting chains, by the change of chemical potential, its ground state undergoes a topological quantum phase transition from the topological Majorana bound state to the trivial Andreev…
The topological origin of the zero bias conductance signatures obtained via conductance spectroscopy in topological superconductor hybrid systems is a much contended issue. Recently, non-local conductance signatures that exploit the non-locality of the zero modes in three terminal hybrid setups have been proposed as means to ascertain the definitive presence of Majorana modes. The topological entanglement entropy, which is based on the von Neumann entropy, is yet another way to gauge the non-locality in connection with the bulk-boundary correspondence of a topological phase. We show that while…
Kitaev chain (KC) is a prototypical model for the study of Majorana fermions (MFs). In the topological phase, a KC hosts two MFs at its ends. Being separated in space, these two MFs are nonlocal. The nonlocal transport in a KC biased between two normal metal leads is mediated by electron tunneling (ET) and crossed Andreev reflection (CAR). ET contributes positively while CAR contributes negatively to the nonlocal conductance. Enhanced CAR and hence a negative nonlocal conductance is a hallmark of nonlocality of MFs. But simple conductance measurements in the above setup cannot probe the nonloc…
We show that weak antilocalization by disorder competes with resonant Andreev reflection from a Majorana zero-mode to produce a zero-voltage conductance peak of order e^2/h in a superconducting nanowire. The phase conjugation needed for quantum interference to survive a disorder average is provided by particle-hole symmetry - in the absence of time-reversal symmetry and without requiring a topologically nontrivial phase. We identify methods to distinguish the Majorana resonance from the weak antilocalization effect.
A strip of 2D HgTe topological insulator is studied. The same-spin edge states in ideal system propagate in opposite directions on different sides of the strip and do not mix by tunneling. Impurities, edge irregularities, and phonons produce transitions between the contra-propagating edge states on different edges. This backscattering determines the conductivity of an infinitely long strip. It is found that the conductivity exponentially grows with the strip width. The conductivity at finite temperature is determined within the framework of the kinetic equation. In the same approximation the n…
Universal fractionalization of quantum transport characteristics in Majorana quantum dot devices is expected to emerge for well separated Majorana bound states. We show that the Majorana universality of the differential shot noise $\partial S^>/\partial V$ and conductance $\partial I/\partial V$ at low bias voltages $V$ arises only in ideal setups with only one Majorana mode entangled with the quantum dot. In realistic devices, where both Majorana modes are entangled with the quantum dot, $\partial S^>/\partial V$ and $\partial I/\partial V$ become very sensitive to tunneling phases and their …
The magnetic-induced orbital motion of quasiparticles affects the conductance properties of a hybrid strip of a quantum-anomalous-Hall topological material with induced superconductivity. We elucidate the scenario of topological NSN ideal junctions in presence of orbital magnetic motion, showing how it leads to a halved quantized conductance $0.5e^2/h$ even in absence of Majorana modes. The magnetic orbital effect favours Fermionic charged modes with finite wave numbers, in contradistinction to Majorana zero modes which are chargeless zero-energy modes with vanishing wave number. The bias sens…

We report an experimental study of the scaling of zero-bias conductance peaks compatible with Majorana zero modes as a function of magnetic field, tunnel coupling, and temperature in one-dimensional structures fabricated from an epitaxial semiconductor-superconductor heterostructure. Results are consistent with theory, including a peak conductance that is proportional to tunnel coupling, saturates at $2e^2/h$, decreases as expected with field-dependent gap, and collapses onto a simple scaling function in the dimensionless ratio of temperature and tunnel coupling.
