We search for single-photon decays of the Upsilon(1S) resonance, Upsilon->gamma+invisible, where the invisible state is either a particle of definite mass, such as a light Higgs boson A0, or a pair of dark matter particles, chi chi-bar. Both A0 and chi are assumed to have zero spin. We tag Upsilon(1S) decays with a dipion transition Upsilon(2S)->pi+pi-Upsilon(1S) and look for events with a single energetic photon and significant missing energy. We find no evidence for such processes in the mass range m_A0<=9.2 GeV and m_chi<=4.5 GeV in the sample of 98e6 Upsilon(2S) decays collected with the BaBar detector and set stringent limits on new physics models that contain light dark matter states.
We present a measurement of the branching fraction of invisible Upsilon(1S) decays, using 1.2 fb^{-1} of data collected at the Upsilon(2S) resonance with the CLEO III detector at CESR. After subtracting expected backgrounds from events that pass selection criteria for invisible Upsilon(1S) decay in Upsilon(2S) -> pi+ pi- Upsilon(1S), we deduce a 90% C.L. upper limit of B[Upsilon(1S) -> invisible] < 0.39%.
We search for invisible decays of the Upsilon(1S) meson using a sample of 91.4 x 10^{6} Upsilon(3S) mesons collected at the BaBar/PEP-II B-factory. We select events containing the decay Upsilon(3S) -> pi+ pi- Upsilon(1S) and search for evidence of an undetectable Upsilon(1S) decay recoiling against the dipion system. We set an upper limit on the branching fraction BR(Upsilon(1S) -> invisible) < 3.0 x 10^{-4} at the 90% confidence level.
We search for a light scalar particle produced in single-photon decays of the Upsilon(3S) resonance through the process Upsilon(3S) -> gamma A0, A0 -> invisible. Such an object appears in Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson naturally couples strongly to b-quarks. If, in addition, there exists a light, stable neutralino, decays of A0 could be preferentially to an invisible final state. We search for events with a single high-energy photon and a large missing mass, consistent with a 2-body decay of Upsilon(3S). We find no evidence for…
We report results of a search for the invisible decay of the Upsilon(1S) via the Upsilon(3S)->pi+pi-Upsilon(1S) transition using a data sample of 2.9 fb^{-1} at the Upsilon(3S) resonance. The data were collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. No signal is found, and an upper limit for the branching fraction at the 90% confidence level is determined to be B(Upsilon(1S)->invisible) < 2.5x10^{-3}.
Invisible psi and Upsilon decays into light neutralinos, within the MSSM or N(n)MSSM, are smaller than for nu nubar production, even if light spin-0 particles are coupled to quarks and neutralinos. In a more general way, light dark matter particles are normally forbidden, unless they can annihilate sufficiently through a new interaction stronger than weak interactions (at lower energies), as induced by a light spin-1 U boson, or heavy-fermion exchanges in the case of scalar dark matter. We discuss the possible contributions of U-boson, heavy-fermion, or spin-0 exchanges to invisible psi and Up…
psi and Upsilon decays may be used to search for light neutral spin-1 or spin-0 bosons associated with a broken extra-U(1) symmetry, local or global, acting axially on quarks and leptons, as may be present in supersymmetric theories with a lambda H_1 H_2 S superpotential term. Recent data on Upsilon --> gamma + invisible neutral constrain an axial, pseudoscalar or scalar coupling to b to f_bA < 4 10^-7 m_U(MeV)/ sqrt B_inv, f_bP < 4 10^-3/ sqrt B_inv or f_bS < 6 10^-3/ sqrt B_inv, respectively. This also constrains, from universality properties, couplings to electrons to f_eA < 4 10^-7 m_U(MeV…
We search for evidence of a light Higgs boson (A0) in the radiative decays of the narrow Upsilon(3S) resonance: Upsilon(3S) -> gamma A0, where A0 -> invisible or A0 -> mu+mu-. Such an object appears in extensions of the Standard Model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson naturally couples strongly to b-quarks. We find no evidence for such processes in a sample of 122 million Upsilon(3S) decays collected by the BaBar collaboration at the PEP II B-factory, and set 90% C.L. upper limits on the product of the corresponding branching fractions. We also set a limit on the di-muon branching fraction of …
Using data taken with the CLEO III detector, 1.09 fb-1 at Upsilon(1S), and 1.28 fb-1 at Upsilon(2S), branching fractions have been measured for the first time for exclusive decays of each resonance into one hundred different final states consisting of 4 to 10 light hadrons, pions, kaons, and protons. Significant strength is found in 73 decay modes of Upsilon(1S) and 17 decay modes of Upsilon(2S), with branching fractions ranging from 0.3x10^-5 to 110x10^-5. Upper limits at 90% confidence level are presented for the other decay modes.
Using data collected with the CLEO-III detector at the CESR e+e- collider, we report on a first observation of the decay of the Upsilon(3S) to tau tau, and precisely measure the ratio of branching fractions of Upsilon(nS),n=1,2,3 to tau tau and mu mu final states, finding agreement with expectations from lepton universality. We derive absolute branching fractions for these decays, and also set a limit on the influence of a low mass CP-odd Higgs boson in the decay of the Upsilon(1S).
Using the CLEO III detector we report on a new study of exclusive radiative Upsilon(1S) decays into the final states gamma pi^+ pi^-, gamma K^+ K^- and gamma p anti-p. We present branching ratios for the decay modes Upsilon(1S) to gamma f_2(1270), Upsilon(1S) to gamma f_2'(1525), and Upsilon(1S) to gamma f_0(1710) with f_0(1710) to K^+ K^-.
Using substantially larger data samples collected by the CLEO III detector, we report on new measurements of the decays of Upsilon(1S) to charmonium final states, including J/Psi, psi(2S), and chi_cJ. The latter two are first observations of these decays. We measure the branching fractions as follows: B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=(6.4+-0.4+-0.6)x10^-4, B(Y(1S)--> psi(2S)+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=0.41+-0.11+-0.08, B(Y(1S)--> chi_c1+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=0.35+-0.08+-0.06, B(Y(1S)--> chi_c2+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)=0.52+-0.12+-0.09, and B(Y(1S)--> chi_c0+X)/B(Y(1S)--> J/Psi+X)<7.4% at 90% confidence level. W…
We measure the production cross sections for e+e- -> Upsilon(1S)pi+pi-, Upsilon(2S)pi+pi-, and Upsilon(3S)pi+pi- as a function of sqrt{s} between 10.83 GeV and 11.02 GeV. The data consists of 8.1 fb^-1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We observe enhanced production in all three final states that does not agree well with the conventional Upsilon(10860) lineshape. A fit using a Breit-Wigner resonance shape yields a peak mass of [10888.4 +2.7/-2.6 (stat) +- 1.2 (syst)] MeV/c^2 and a width of [30.7 +8.3/-7.0 (stat) +- 3.1 (syst)] MeV/c^2.
Using 420 pb^-1 of data collected on the Upsilon(5S) resonance with the CLEO III detector, we reconstruct B mesons in 25 exclusive decay channels to measure or set upper limits on the decay rate of Upsilon(5S) into B meson final states. We measure the inclusive B cross-section to be sigma(Y(5S)-->BB(X))=(0.176+-0.030+-0.016) nb and make the first measurements of the production rates of sigma(Y(5S)-->B*B*)=(0.131+-0.025+-0.014) nb and sigma(Y(5S)-->BB*)=(0.043+-0.016+-0.006) nb, respectively. We set 90% confidence level limits of sigma(Y(5S)-->B B-bar)<0.038 nb, sigma(Y(5S)-->B(*)B(*)(pi))<0.05…
We present measurements of decay matrix elements for hadronic transitions of the form Upsilon(nS) -> pi pi Upsilon(mS) where (n, m) = (3, 1), (2, 1), and (3, 2). We reconstruct charged and neutral pion modes with the final state Upsilon decaying to either mu+mu- or e+e-. Dalitz plot distributions for the twelve decay modes are fit individually as well as jointly assuming isospin symmetry, thereby measuring the matrix elements of the decay amplitude. We observe and account for the anomaly previously noted in the di-pion invariant mass distribution for the Upsilon(3S) -> pi pi Upsilon(1S) transi…
We search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decays B->K(*)nu nubar, and the invisible decays J/psi->nu nubar and psi(2S)->nu nubar via B->K(*)J/psi and B->K(*)psi(2S) respectively, using a data sample of 471 x10^6 BB pairs collected by the BaBar experiment. We fully reconstruct the hadronic decay of one of the B mesons in the Upsilon(4S)->BB decay, and search for the B->K(*)nu nubar decay in the rest of the event. We observe no significant excess of signal decays over background and report branching fraction upper limits of BR(B+->K+nu nubar)<3.7 x10^-5, BR(B0->K0nu nubar)< 8.1 x10^-5, B…
I present two analyses done with the CLEOIII detector at CESR. The first is a search for the Lepton Flavor Violating decay Upsilon to mu tau, with preliminary results, and the second constrains Lepton Universality in Upsilon to tau tau relative to Upsilon to mu mu. This second analysis, whose results are final, has dramatically improved uncertainties relative to other such measurements, and is also the first observation of the decay Upsilon(3S) to tau tau. A limit is also set on the involvement of a CP odd Higgs in the decay of the Upsilon(1S) to tau pairs.
Using the full Belle Upsilon(5S) data sample of 121 fb^-1we have measured exclusive branching fractions for the decays B_s^0 -> D_s^(*)+D_s^(*)-. Assuming these decay modes saturate decays to CP-even final states, the branching fraction determines the relative width difference between the CP-odd and -even eigenstates of the B_s.
Using data obtained with the CLEO~III detector, running at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we report on a new study of exclusive radiative Upsilon(1S) decays into the final states gamma pi^+ pi^-, gamma K^+ K^-, and gamma p pbar.. We present branching ratio measurements for the decay modes Upsilon(1S) to gamma f_2(1270), Upsilon(1S) to gamma f_2'(1525), and Upsilon(1S) to gamma K^+K^-; helicity production ratios for f_2(1270) and f_2'(1525); upper limits for the decay Upsilon(1S) to gamma f_J(2200), with f_J(2220) to pi^+ pi^-, K^+ K^-, p pbar; and an upper limit for the decay Upsilo…
The data for 9.3 million Upsilon(2S) and 20.9 million Upsilon(1S) taken with the CLEO III detector has been used to study the radiative population of states identified by their decay into twenty six different exclusive hadronic final states. In the Upsilon(2S) decays an enhancement is observed at a ~5 sigma level at a mass of 9974.6+-2.3(stat)+-2.1(syst) MeV. It is attributed to eta_b(2S), and corresponds to the Upsilon(2S) hyperfine splitting of 48.7+-2.3(stat)+-2.1(syst) MeV. In the Upsilon(1S) decays, the identification of eta_b(1S) is confirmed at a ~3 sigma level with M(eta_b(1S)) in agre…
Using data collected using the CLEO III detector, we present recent results on decays of the $Υ(1S)-Υ(3S)$ resonances. We report on three analyses. They are: (1) improved measurements of the muonic branching fraction of the $Υ(1S)-Υ(3S)$, (2) precision measurements of $Υ(2S)$ and $Υ(3S)$ photonic transitions, and (3) new measurements of $Υ(1S)$ decays to charmonium final states.}]
Motivated by concerns regarding possible two-body contributions to the recently-measured inclusive Upsilon(nS)->gamma+X (n=1, 2, 3) direct photon spectra, we report on a new study of exclusive radiative decays of these narrow Upsilon(nS) resonances into two-body final states R+gamma, with R a narrow resonant hadronic state decaying into four or more charged particles. Such two-body processes are not explicitly addressed in the extant theoretical frameworks used to calculate the inclusive direct photon spectra, and must also be explicitly inserted into Monte Carlo simulations. Using data collec…
We establish improved upper limits on branching fractions for B0 decays to final States 10 where the decay products are purely invisible (i.e., no observable final state particles) and for final states where the only visible product is a photon. Within the Standard Model, these decays have branching fractions that are below the current experimental sensitivity, but various models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict significant contributions for these channels. Using 471 million BB pairs collected at the Y(4S) resonance by the BABAR experiment at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring at the SLA…
We report on a study of exclusive radiative decays of the Upsilon(1S) resonance into the final states gamma pi^0 pi^0, gamma eta eta and gamma pi^0 eta, using 1.13 inverse femto-barn of e^+ e^- annihilation data collected at sqrt(s)= 9.46 GeV with the CLEO III detector operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. In the channel gamma pi^0 pi^0, we measure the branching ratio for the decay mode Upsilon(1S) to gamma f_2(1270) to be (10.5 \pm 1.6 (+ 1.9)(-1.8)) x 10^-5. We place upper limits on the product branching ratios for the isoscalar resonances f_0(1500) and f_0(1710) for the pi^0 pi^0 …
We calculate the cross sections and final state distributions for the processes e^+ e^- --> Upsilon(1S) (pi^+ pi^-, K^+ K^-, eta pi^0) near the Upsilon(5S) resonance based on the tetraquark hypothesis. This framework is used to analyse the data on the Upsilon(1S) pi^+ pi^- and Upsilon(1S) K^+ K^- final states [K.F. Chen et al. (Belle Collaboration), Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 112001 (2008); I. Adachi et al. (Belle Collaboration), arXiv:0808.2445], yielding good fits. Dimeson invariant mass spectra in these processes are shown to be dominated by the corresponding light scalar and tensor states. The …
Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have observed the Bs meson in e+e- annihilation at the Upsilon(5S) resonance. We find 14 candidates consistent with Bs decays into final states with a J/psi or a Ds(*)-. The probability that we have observed a background fluctuation is less than 8x10e-10. We have established that at the energy of the Upsilon(5S) resonance Bs meson production proceeds predominantly through the creation of Bs*Bs* pairs. We find sigma(e+e- -> Bs*Bs*) = [0.11 (+0.04-0.03)(stat.)+/-0.02(syst.)] nb, and set the following limits: sigma(e+e- -> BsBs) / s…
We establish upper limits on branching fractions for B0 decays to final states where the decay products are purely invisible (i.e., no observable final state particles) and for B0 decays to nu nubar gamma. Within the Standard Model, these decays have branching fractions that are below current experimental sensitivity, but various models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict significant contributions from these channels. Using 88.5 million B Bbar pairs collected at the Y(4S) resonance by the BaBar experiment at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, we es…
Using 14.0 million $ψ(2S) events collected with the BES-II detector, a search for the decay of the $\jpsi$ to an invisible final state in $\psipto$ is performed. The $\jpsi$ peak in the distribution of mass recoiling against the $π^+π^-$ is used to tag $ψ$ invisible decay. No signal is found, and an upper limit at the 90% confidence level is determined to be $1.2\times 10^{-2}$ for the ratio $\frac{{\cal B}(\jpsi\ar {invisible})}{{\cal B}(\jpsi\arμ^+μ^-)}$. This is the first search for $J/ψ$ decay to an invisible final state.
Measurements of heavy flavor production in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7.0 TeV recorded at the CMS experiment are presented. Double differential cross sections with respect to transverse momentum and rapidity are shown for J/Psi and Upsilon(1S), Upsilon(2S), and Upsilon(3S). The inclusive open beauty rate is measured with two different techniques, including a study of the angular correlations between b jets in events with two identified b jets. Lastly, the B+, B0, and B0s production rates are measured from the reconstruction of exclusive final states.
We report on a study of exclusive radiative decays of the Upsilon(1S) resonance into a final state consisting of a photon and two K0s candidates. We find evidence for a signal for Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525); f_2'(1525)->K0sK0s, at a rate (4.0+/-1.3+/-0.6)x10^{-5}, consistent with previous observations of Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525); f_2'(1525)->K+K-, and isospin. Combining this branching fraction with existing branching fraction measurements of Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525) and J/psi->gamma f_2'(1525), we obtain the ratio of branching fractions: B(Upsilon(1S)->gamma f_2'(1525))/B(J/psi->g…
We study the properties of charmed, nonstrange, $\rm D$ mesons produced in continuum $\rm {e^+}{e^-}$ annihilations. The $ \rm {e^+}{e^-}$ collisions were generated in the energy region of the $ \rm Υ(3S)$ and $ \rm Υ(4S)$ resonances by the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, and were analyzed by the CLEO detector. We make extensive study of the decay topology $\rm D^0, D^+ \rightarrow \overline{\rm K}^{_{_0}}X$, where the $\overline{\rm K}^{_{_0}}$ is observed in the final state $\rm K^{0}_{S} \rightarrow π^+π^-$. The decay $ \rm D^+ \rightarrow K^- π^+π^-$ is also considered. We analyze the hadro…
We report preliminary measurements of the exclusive charmless semileptonic branching fractions of the B+ --> eta l+ nu and B+ --> eta' l+ nu decays. These measurements are based on 316 fb-1 of data collected at the Y(4S) resonance by the BABAR detector. In events in which the decay of one B meson to a hadronic final state is fully reconstructed, the semileptonic decay of the recoiling B meson is identified by the detection of a charged lepton and an eta or eta'. We measure the branching fraction BR(B+ --> eta l+ nu) = (0.84 +/- 0.27 +/- 0.21) x 10-4, where the first error is statistical and th…
Continuing our studies of radiative Upsilon(1S) decays, we report on a search for Upsilon to gamma eta and Upsilon to gamma f_{J}(2220) in 61.3 pb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} data taken with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. For the gamma eta search the three decays of the eta meson to pi^{+}pi^{-}pi^{0}, pi^{0}pi^{0}pi^{0}, and gamma gamma were investigated. We found no candidate events in the two (3π)^{0} modes and no significant excess over expected backgrounds in the gamma gamma mode to set a limit on the branching fraction of B(Upsilon to gamma eta) < 2.1 x 10^{-5} at 90% …
Motivated by concerns regarding possible two-body contributions to the recently-measured inclusive $Υ$(nS)$\toγ+X$ direct photon spectrum, we report on a preliminary new study of exclusive radiative decays of the $Υ$ resonances into two-body final states ${\cal R}γ$, with ${\cal R}$ some resonant hadronic state decaying into four or more charged particles. Such two-body processes are not explicitly addressed in the extant theoretical frameworks used to calculate the inclusive direct photon spectrum. Using data collected from the CLEO III detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we presen…
We review results which explicitly depend on the entanglement of neutral meson pairs produced at the psi(3770) and Upsilon(4S). Time-dependent CP-violation analyses at the B-factories use the flavour-singlet final state at the Upsilon(4S), but by assuming its quantum-mechanical evolution; Belle on the other hand has tested the time-dependent flavour correlation of the B-mesons, comparing predictions of quantum mechanics, spontaneous disentanglement, and Pompili-Selleri models. At the psi(3770), decay rates are modulated by various combinations of the charm mixing parameters: this has been expl…
The production of invisible particles plays great importance in high energy physics. Large part of interesting electroweak processes include production of neutrinos, while many new physics scenarios predict the existence of similarly weakly-interacting particles. In events with associated production of invisible particles and hadronic jets, the measurement of the imbalance in transverse momentum of the final state particles is the major leverage to reject the otherwise dominant source of backgrounds in hadron colliders, i.e. the generic production of many jets by QCD interactions. Here we disc…
Results are presented for the search for invisible Higgs boson production using the full LHC dataset corresponding to integrated luminosity of 5.1 fb^-1 and 19.6 fb^-1 of proton-proton collision data at sqrt(s)= 7 TeV and 8 TeV (respectively) collected by the CMS detector. The invisible Higgs is searched for in final states of missing transverse energy, with two leptons from a recoiling Z boson. No significant excess is found beyond standard model predictions, and limits are obtained on the branching fraction of the Higgs boson to invisible particles.
We recall how a new light gauge boson emerged in Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model with an extra singlet superfield, and how it could behave very much as a light pseudoscalar, with the corresponding symmetry broken at a scale higher than electroweak. Such a new gauge boson U, light and very weakly coupled, allows for Light Dark Matter particles, which could be at the origin of the 511 keV line from the galactic bulge. Could it be found directly in e+e- annihilations ? Not so easily, due to various constraints on its couplings, especially axial ones, leading to an axionlike behavi…
We search for bottomonium states in Upsilon(2S)-> (bb-bar) gamma decays with an integrated luminosity of 24.7fb^-1 recorded at the Upsilon(2S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEK, containing (157.8+-3.6) X 10^6 Upsilon(2S) events. The (bb-bar) system is reconstructed in 26 exclusive hadronic final states composed of charged pions, kaons, protons, and K^0_S mesons. We find no evidence for the state recently observed around 9975 MeV (X_(bb-bar)) in an analysis based on a data sample of 9.3 X 10^6 Upsilon(2S) events collected with the CLEO III detector. We set a 90 % confidence-level upper l…
We describe a search for hadronic decays of the Y(1S), Y(2S), and Y(3S) resonances to the exclusive final states rho pi, K*(892) Kbar, rho a2(1320), omega f2(1270), phi f2'(1525), K*(892) K2*(1430)bar, b1(1235) pi, K1(1270) Kbar, and K1(1400) Kbar. Upper limits at 90% CL are set for all these decays from all three resonances below 33x10**-6; in particular, B(Y(1S)--> rho pi) < 4x10**-6 is the smallest such upper limit. For two modes, a branching fraction of zero can be ruled out with a statistical significance of more than 5sigma: B(Y(1S) --> phi f2'(1525)) = (7 +3-2(stat) +-1(syst)) x 10**-6 …
Constraints on spin-0 dark matter mediators and invisible Higgs decays using ATLAS 13 TeV $pp$ collision data with two top quarks and missing transverse momentum in the final state
A search for J/psi radiative decay to weakly interacting neutral final states was performed using the CLEO-c detector at CESR. A total of 3.7 x 10^{6} tagged J/psi events was collected at the psi(2S) resonance and used to study the decay J/psi -> gamma+X, where X is a narrow state that is invisible to the detector. No significant signal was observed and upper limits on the branching fraction were set for masses m_X up to 960 MeV/c^2. The upper limit corresponding to m_X=0 is 4.3x 10^{-6} at the 90% confidence level.
This paper presents a measurement of the electroweak production of two jets in association with a $Zγ$ pair, with the $Z$ boson decaying into two neutrinos. It also presents a search for invisible or partially invisible decays of a Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV produced through vector-boson fusion with a photon in the final state. These results use data from LHC proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$. The event signature, shared by all benchmark processes considered for the measuremen…
The NA62 experiment at CERN reports searches for $K^+\toμ^+N$ and $K^+\toμ^+νX$ decays, where $N$ and $X$ are massive invisible particles, using the 2016-2018 data set. The $N$ particle is assumed to be a heavy neutral lepton, and the results are expressed as upper limits of ${\cal O}(10^{-8})$ of the neutrino mixing parameter $|U_{\mu4}|^2$ for $N$ masses in the range 200-384 MeV/$c^2$ and lifetime exceeding 50 ns. The $X$ particle is considered a scalar or vector hidden sector mediator decaying to an invisible final state, and upper limits of the decay branching fraction for $X$ masses in th…
We revisit calculations of invisible widths of heavy mesons in the standard model, which serve as benchmarks for the studies of production of light, long-lived neutral particles in heavy meson decays. We challenge the common assumption that in the standard model these widths are dominated by meson decays into a two-neutrino final state and prove that they are dominated by decays into four-neutrino final states. We show that current estimates of the invisible widths of heavy mesons in the standard model underestimate the effect by orders of magnitude. We examine currently available experimental…
We report searches for $B^0\to\rm{invisible}$ and $B^0\to\rm{invisible}+γ$ decays, where the energy of the photon is required to be larger than 0.5 GeV. These results are obtained from a $711\,{\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample that contains $772 \times 10^6 B\bar{B}$ pairs and was collected near the $Υ\,(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. We observe no significant signal for either decay and set upper limits on their branching fractions at $90\%$ confidence level of $\mathcal{B}\,(B^0\to\rm{invisible}) < 7.8\times10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}\,(B^0\to\rm{invisible}+γ) …
The results of a new search for positronium decays into invisible final states are reported. Convincing detection of this decay mode would be a strong evid ence for new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM): for example the existence of extra--dimensions, of milli-charged particles, of new light gauge bosons or of mirror particles. Mirror matter could be a relevant dark matter candidate. In this paper the setup and the results of a new experiment are presented. In a collected sample of about $(6.31\pm0.28) \times 10^6$ orthopositronium decay s, no evidence for invisible decays in an energy wi…
We report a search for $B^{0}$ decays into invisible final states using a data sample of $657 \times 10^{6}$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The signal is identified by fully reconstructing a hadronic decay of the accompanying $B$ meson and requiring no other particles in the event. No significant signal is observed, and we obtain an upper limit of $1.3 \times 10^{-4}$ at the 90% confidence level for the branching fraction of invisible $B^{0}$ decay.
We report the result from the first search for $D^0$ decays to invisible final states. The analysis is performed on a data sample of 924 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected at and near the $Υ(4S)$ and $Υ(5S)$ resonances with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider. The absolute branching fraction is determined using an inclusive $D^0$ sample, obtained by fully reconstructing the rest of the particle system including the other charmed particle. No significant signal yield is observed and an upper limit of $9.4\times 10^{-5}$ is set on the branching fraction of $D^0$ to invis…
We report the results of a study of two-body B meson decays to the complete set of K pi, pi pi, and K K final states. The study is performed on a data sample of 31.7 +/- 0.3 million B B-bar events recorded on the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the Belle experiment at KEKB. We observe significant signals in all K pi final states and in the pi+ pi- and pi+ pi0 final states. We set limits on the pi0 pi0 and K K final states. A search is performed for partial-rate asymmetries between conjugate states for flavor-specific final states.
The BABAR Collaboration has performed three searches for a light Higgs boson, $A^0$, in radiative Upsilon ($Υ$) decays: $Υ(3S)\toγA^0$, $A^0\toτ^+τ^-$; $Υ(nS)\toγA^0$, $A^0\toμ^+μ^-$ ($n=2,3$); and $Υ(3S)\toγA^0$, $A^0\to$ invisible. Such a Higgs boson ($A^0$) appears in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model, where a light CP-odd Higgs boson couples strongly to $b$-quarks. The searches are based on data samples that consist of $122\times 10^6$ $Υ(3S)$ and $99\times 10^6$ $Υ(2S)$ decays, collected by the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. T…
Based on a data sample of an integrated luminosity of 57.4 fb-1 at the Upsilon(4S) resonance taken with the BaBar detector using the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy $B$-Factory, hadronic decays of B meson with the final states D(*) and three pions are studied. The study is performed by fully reconstructing the exclusive decays of B->D(*)a_{1}(1260) and the non-resonant modes B->D(*)rho^{0} pi and B->D(*)pipipi. The current status of the study is presented and a dominant B->D(*)a_{1}(1260) decay is shown.
Using a data sample of $58\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ decays collected with the BES II detector at the BEPC, searches for invisible decays of $η$ and $η^\prime$ in $J/ψ$ to $ϕη$ and $ϕη^\prime$ are performed. The $ϕ$ signals, which are reconstructed in $K^+K^-$ final states, are used to tag the $η$ and $η^\prime$ decays. No signals are found for the invisible decays of either $η$ or $η^\prime$, and upper limits at the 90% confidence level are determined to be $1.65 \times 10^{-3}$ for the ratio $\frac{B(η\to \text{invisible})}{B(η\toγγ)}$ and $6.69\times 10^{-2}$ for $\frac{B(η^\prime\to \text{invisibl…
Invisible particles frequently appear in final state in studying physics at colliders. Experimental precision is also low in measuring missing energy. In this paper, we propose a general approach for studying process involving invisible particles. We provided two kinematical observables which are sensitive to production kinematics in different regions, and hence are complementary. Usage of our approach is illustrated by three examples. It is shown that our observables are still useful in case of that the significance S/B is relatively low.
Recent results from the ep (electron-proton) collider HERA are presented. Jet production and diffraction type reactions allow tests of predictions of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Jet measurements are used to improve the combined H1-ZEUS parton density fits by adding an additional constraint on the gluon distribution in the proton and, at the same time, providing information on strong coupling constant. Measurements of inclusive diffraction and diffractive dijet data are discussed in the context of factorisation in diffraction. Diffractive Upsilon(1S) production was studied to extract the t-sl…
A search for decays of the Higgs boson to invisible particles in events with a top-antitop quark pair or a vector boson in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV
We summarize recent results by the BABAR and Belle Collaborations on the search for CP violation and new physics beyond the Standard Model in several rare B meson decays. The measurements exploit the final BABAR and Belle Upsilon(4S) datasets, which consist of approximately 470 and 772 million BBbar pairs, respectively.
We present final measurements of thirteen charmless hadronic B decay modes from the CLEO experiment. The decay modes include the ten pipi, Kpi, and KKbar final states and new limits on dibaryonic final states, ppbar, pLambdabar, and LambdaLambdabar, as well as a new determination of the ratio BR(B-> DK)/BR(B-> Dpi). The results are based on the full CLEO II and CLEO III data samples totalling 15.3 fb-1 at the Upsilon(4S), and supercede previously published results.
